Special pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw
    Amelia R.

I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, this was a special item not on their regular menu. The sandwich was huge! The picture does not do it justice. While large the sandwich was dry. I wish that there was more bbq sauce and more dressing on the coleslaw, with those improvements the sandwich would be top tier! I will be back to try other offerings. The employee was present with quick service. The food cart is located outside of a cute plant nursery and floral shop.

Unexpected GEM in Milwaukie! I've not eaten meat since 1983, so I nearly pasted this place by. But...about 30% of the menus is vegan! And vegan items are actually marked vegan! With the brands they use (currently Violife, my favorite!) and everything! I love them!!!! And most importantly... They actually take the vegan part seriously!... When I asked them if they use a separate place on the grill for cooking the meat versus the plant-based items, they said quickly, confidentially and effortlessly, "of course!" Not only that, when my husband picked up the food, he was told that they used a separate cutting board, separate knives, and a pan instead of the grill for all vegan items. Their prices are exceptionally fair, even inexpensive, in my opinion. And the food is absolutely delicious! We had two delicious vegan BLTs made from tofu in a smoky marinade on some sort of delicious gourmet bread and thick slices of veggies and an incredible vegan aïoli sauce. I seriously can't recommend this place enough and I can't wait to go back!

Chicken French dip with French onion soup for dipping

Okay so at first I thought I was misled on the directions as you only see the garden/flower business building and outdoor area. But in front of the business is a small airstream food truck which is the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and the food came out relatively fast. Grilled cheese and chicken French dip were both very good and worth repeating. Cute small spot to take a food break.

I've been curious about this little stop along the road for months now. It just so happened to be the perfect night to try it out and may I say, fantastic! It was quick and just the right amount of food for me. My dog enjoyed a few bites of the chicken and he was quite happy. We had the Pesto feta with grilled chicken. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you!!!

04/09/2022: 4.9 out of 5 - This review is long overdue. I have eaten at a lot of food carts all over the United States, and I can honestly say that Ames Meat Research is THE BEST FOOD CART of all the food carts I have tried. I first came to Ames Meat Research at the Milwaukie Station Food Pod back in late February 2021, after being displaced out of my home due to the extreme winter storm Oregon had in February 2021. It was a nice comfort to have some very tasty food options nearby to my temporary housing since I don't have much of a kitchen option. So, one of the nights, my wife and I trekked over to the Milwaukie Station Food Pod where there are many good food options. Ames Meat Research's old shiny airstream is such an attention-getter, so why not, right? This was my first time trying the Ames Meat Research cart. I had the cheeseburger...it wasn't just a cheeseburger, but it was an amazingly delicious cheeseburger! I was hooked! Naturally, I wanted to try more. But, there was a dilemma. Unfortunately, due to the issues brought about by COVID, Ames Meat Research was closing early in the day, sometimes not opening, to eventually temporarily closing. So, fast forward to 2022 (mid-March), Ames is back! And, I finally was able to get my second try in! Ever since, Ames has reopened, my wife and I, and other fellow foodie runners have been frequenting Ames Meat Research often as we can. The owner, Amanda, and her staff have been friendly, attentive and personable which obviously makes a more enjoyable experience. If mistakes were made, they would own up to it and go above and beyond to make it right. Many of the "foodie" runners I run with have returned on their own with their families and friends. I highly recommend them if you want to try something different but not different. I often find myself ordering one of the 'Specials' and often checking out the 'Soup Special' as well. Everything is very tasty! Also, THIS IS A MUST TRY. Try Ames Meat Research's special sweet selection (s); moon pie. Doesn't matter which one, just get one, or get each of the special flavor. Those moon pies do not disappoint. All in all, at the end of any meal I often will ask, "Would you come back?". My answer for Ames Meat Research Milwaukie Station is pretty apparent. The owner and staff have been great, the food is extremely tasty, the prices (wow...such great prices!) and there is an outside seating area available, which is typically very clean. So, as I always say, if you ever get a chance, definitely try it once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

    Bacon, Cheeseburger!

I've been to these food carts & hadn't tried this stop. The burger was so good! The meat is FRESH along with every topping which was lettuce, onions, pickles... so good. Legit real cheese! The service was great & fast! For my Coke & Bacon Cheeseburger it was $10! I definitely recommend this place.

I have the best daughter-in-law in the world (actually two of them). Amy can sniff out a new restaurant like nobody's business. And she hit big-time on this one. We ate on the patio, which is beautiful, and my 3 year old niece had the time of her life in the bamboo 'forest' looking for pandas and koalas. We had two of the most charming women as servers, but I wrote down their names on the merchant-copy of the receipt, so I can't tell you who they were. As stated in the other reviews, this is a foodie's ideal. I you are going to order the hamburger, which is good, order something green for the table with it. If you want medium-rare, order rare. They change the menu alot, so I hope this is still be on it when you go. For dessert, "The Floating Island". Start with cream anglaise, then add green strawberries and rhubarb around the edges (totally counter intuitive for me, but worked perfectly!) and in the middle is a rectangle of meringue (the best I have ever had in my life) and a spoonful of lime granite to top it off. Spectacular! Go for it and Go !!!

I was never a friend of soggy fries. French fries. need to be crispy twice fried is always better…read morethan single - so long that it is not a surprise I do not like the Canadian favorite way of eating fries: poutine. It is basically fried and then smothered with sauces and toppings. All kinds of toppings from veggies to meat but mostly thick sauces. To give it a healthy touch sometimes they sprinkle some green onion or parsley on top. Don't get me wrong I'll love dips with my French fries like in the Netherlands ketchup mayo onions even peanuts delicious - but I am always a dipper. But I wouldn't be a real yelp squad member if I wouldn't be up for a challenge. Whenever you order fries from a delivery place they come wet and no longer crisp. So delivery of poutine is even more challenging. But when I saw the fries god I was up for that challenge, and wow they did good!! This is the only thing they do fry potatoes (I would say not house-made from the looks of it) and gives you options for sauces or you can do your own. In no world did they ever mention poutine but it's clear that the inspiration comes from Canada. I ordered the meat lovers with bacon, pulled pork, and chicken. It comes with a bbq sauce in which the pork was cooked. On top of a bit of parsley - as you learned earlier this makes it a healthy choice. Lol. I ordered an extra avocado and bbq sauce. I'll have to say I was impressed Grubhub was their delivery service and it arrived in under 40 min (Brett was a good driver). The fries in the corner that have not been smothered in sauce have still been crispy what a surprise. The meat mixture with the sauce tasted really good. And for $15 it was a fair amount of food and satisfying. I am still not a fan of poutine but I'll have to admit what the fries gods have done was surprisingly good and another reason to never fear to try again what you don't like. The best time I'll have to ask them if they can deliver it upside down with the fries on top would be the killer. Five stars for bringing poutine I to Portland, five stars for making it in this way: delicious and even with crispy fries via delivery service, unfortunately, they did not deliver my extra ordered and paid for sauces. That's the only reason I'll take of a star!
