This company has demonstrated a complete lack of accountability, communication, and respect for its customers. I attempted to cancel my Orkin service multiple times via phone and email starting on November 23, 2025. No responses. No callbacks. No acknowledgement. Despite this, I woke up to a pending charge on my card even after clearly instructing them to stop all services and billing immediately. The actual pest control service has been terrible. Spraying was minimal, the roach issue never improved, and during the last visit the technician admitted he didn't even have mouse traps because he "ran out." That means the service was incomplete and ineffective. Ignored cancellation requests + continued billing + poor service = completely unacceptable. I have retained all written communication and call records and will continue escalating this through my financial institution, BBB, and consumer protection authorities until this is formally resolved and refunded. This experience has been exhausting and unacceptable. Proceed with caution. read more

Never use Orkin. Had contract for whole house interior and exterior. Called out wasps around roof corner. They said they didn't see any active infestations and came every month to inspect. $90 a month and I find this behind my daughter's bedroom wall. About 2 feet tall. Complete failure that they admit to. They wouldn't give me my money back. read more

SCAM ALERT! DO NOT LET THIS COMPANY TRICK YOU INTO SIGNING MONTHLY SERVICE AGREEMENT!!! On their agreement, they will ask you to initial a paragraph that says (direct quote) ".... I (we) have the right to cancel this automatic payment authorization by submitting to Orkin written notice 30 days in adanvce of the intended termination of this authorization...". In this paragraph that you are asked to initial, they make it sound like you're free to cancel as long as there's a 30-day advance written notice. Upon signing, I also double checked with my technician (Jonathan) and he assured me that it would be OK to cancel anytime. However, just called in to cancel after 7 months with them, and was told that there was another paragraph (much finer prints) that indicates it's a one-year agreement and I cannot cancel until 1 year is up! What a trap!!!! I'm mailing in a written notice to this branch (Woodland Park, NJ) to notify them of my intention to cancel and I'm also cancelling my CC with them. read more

I called to cancel service with this company several months ago only to see that the card has continued to be billed. I spoke with the branch manager who was extremely rude and disrespectful and said some very disparaging things . She quickly hung up after I explained my reasons for not wanting service to be continued. I just received a notification about the credit card expiring unaware that it was being billed from then until now. Every penny must be returned to this card because we have not received service in months ! This is so unprofessional and this is really credit card fraud. I have a service plan with ORKIN but need to find another company. ORKIN is normally late with appointments and no call. It's difficult to contact ORKIN by phone for an appointment, always tells you to leave a message. NO one will ever call you back! I've had 2 appointments for bee control on home. They already have a contract from us for pests from February. We now have a fly issue and I suspect it may be related. NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALL. The message to cancel was never relayed, after stating multiple times that I could not have anybody come to my property. I called about a mouse problem was not offered a one-time service instead subscription like service which I was under the impression was every 3 months and I figured I could cancel after the initial service if needed. When I call to cancel I find it's a one-year service that I was contracted for. Absolutely ridiculous, do not use unless you want to be scammed. Main reason I canceled, was the serviceman said he would be back in 2 weeks at the same time but no one notified or anything that he was coming back. There were traps I forgot about or was unaware of which caught a couple of mice and attracted a horde of flies into the home. While having work done on my home, it was noticed that the garage had some wood damage and some insects in the area. I called the local number for Orkin in Woodland Park, but it transferred me to a national 800 number and a pushy telemarketer. I told her my situation, and she immediately tried to sell me a one year contract, asked for my charge card number, and wanted to know how many bedrooms and bathrooms I had. Huh? Just to have a guy come out and determine if I had a problem? I wasted twenty three minutes on the phone with this pushy lady as I tried to get through to the local Orkin. It didn't happen and I politely told her "no thanks". She was trying to sell and oversell something to me without even knowing what -if anything, I needed. I called a local exterminator yesterday. He came out this morning, said I did have a problem, took care of the area and then went around the whole perimeter of my house inspecting and spraying. The price was a couple of hundred bucks, very affordable compared to Orkin which would have eventually cost thousands of bucks. He said that if I see any other problem within a week, that he would come back at no charge. Orkin may be good, but I'll never know since I was not allowed to talk to them or see them without going through a pushy telemarketer and paying in advance before even knowing if I needed their service. Orkin says that it gets rid of pests. They should start with the telemarketers that answer their phones. My advice. Go elsewhere. read more

So I had a yellow jacket infestation. 2 nests, underground. I tried taking them on, but they just kept coming back. So I called up the Orkin team, and an appointment was made for Saturday. Unfortunately - no show. They did call up and apologize, and we re-scheduled for Monday morning. Monday morning - no show....but by lunch I get a call, and somebody shows. I was in a lousy moody (did a work from home day, which work is not a fan of...but the yellow jackets were becoming a nuisance), but Paul was pretty humble and gracious and apologized for whatever the office had told him. Anyway, back to the deed - he investigated, and then explained what he would do. He put on his bee suit, and started his attack. The yellows jackets went at him, but he kept spraying and powdering. Within 24-48 hours, they were gone. 3 weeks later, still no sign of them Orkin wins. Paul told me if I got complaints to call the branch office, which I did. And I have to admit - they did right by me. From the original price quoted for a Saturday, to what occurred, the price had come down by half. So yeah - The job got done. And they listened to my complaint, and gave me a partial refund. read more

"Inspector" said I had ALL rodents that will tear my building down!!. - that put me in shock- I was very surprised to see a 4.+ star service on Google. BE VERY careful with this Orkin office. They requested a Credit card for payment- The first charge was for $176.++, Second charge $876.++!!!, Third Charge was $ 17.48. ALL COMPLETELY UNKNOWN. When I called the office, I spoke to Lizette (Manager) she completely denied ALL the charges - It was absurd as I read out the AMEX bill- She said NO- never happened. I called back and "REQUESTED" the unknown contract that they said I signed. NEVER heard from them again They sent my account to collections due to my disagreement. We had service done for rodent infestation for a property in Jersey City and the Orkin specialist that came was extremely professional and got the job done so well that our tenants never complained again. I know the issue was ongoing for several months and the previous owner also tried various solutions with no results. Orkin solved the problem on their very first try and were extremely professional. I was also very pleased with their customer service. We were billed for a follow up service even though I had called in to cancel a month prior to the service and the manager, Mike, was extremely courteous and professional in providing a cancellation of the invoice because the rodent infestation was completely resolved with no further issues. Hope to do business with them again sometime soon. One of the best experiences I've ever had with a pest control company. read more

I hate that I had to give them one star. This is in regards to the Orkin in Woodland Park, NJ. I signed up for there service in April I believe and they came out and did a quick service (after rescheduling a few times - in which they just never showed up the first time and I had to call them). My Fiancee gave them a check, WHICH I HAVE A CARBON COPY OF. Either the check got lost or the technician did not hand it in because a few WEEKS later, with no call at all, they took me to collections. No call, no email, no NOTHING, just took me to collections. So I immediately sent them a check - AGAIN. Fast forward a few months I start getting emails saying that they will be at my house at a random day and time. I work during the day and replied to these emails saying that they can't do that. Then I get a phone call from a tech saying he is at my house and I told him to leave. Then I get another phone call confirming an appointment for the next day. I very clearly told him on that phone call to not come to my house or schedule anymore appointments - that I would call them to schedule if I wanted their service. A week later he showed up at my house when my Fiancee happened to be home early from work and tells him that he spoke to me and scheduled for that day - LIE. My Fiancee didn't know so he let him work. He was there for 10 minutes and left leaving us a $139 bill. I called the company and voiced how angry I was. I got no apology and Anthony, the CSR, just told me he would cancel my account and we would have to pay for today (after I had to request it). I asked for something in writing, since they took me to collections last time with no call or anything, and he said he would email me. NOTHING. Call the next day and requested another email - NOTHING. This is the most dishonest, unreliable, and SHADY company I have ever had the misfortune or working with. This has to be the worst service provider I have ever encountered. 10 no shows when we have a scheduled appointment. We call to reschedule and still a no show, not even a call. When we do call get apologies and still bad service. We also had the termite traps installed around our home as a preventive maintenance measure, no shows on this service either. Promised better service by their district manager who said they had to go in and take over the business and the service even got worse. We were also promised quarterly termite trap service as a compensation. As of now no service. We want all of our money back for the termite traps and the 3 year service. Horrific I have no words. Never show up, wait Saturday after Saturday .. I get calls ten minutes before end of window saying tech called in sick. finally they say I will be first appt on sat and they give to me for free. My next appt three months ltr .. get a bill with no appt. I call They say oh we send emails which is what they always say. Which they do NOT. Funny how I get the bills but She says email must be wrong which of course it was not. Schedule for sat between 10-2. I said it's Critical please review my records last few times. I Called two times to confirm. Sat comes along they don't show up. I called and of course nobody there . Tech calls at 2:10.. I didn't even listen . I would leave 0 stars if I could. Terrible customer service. I called with a problem of having an infestation of mice in the house. They called me to reschedule twice an hour before they were supposed to show up both times, then no call no show on the last time they had rescheduled for. Office was rude each time they called to reschedule or when I called about the no show, they don't care what problems lead you to call in the 1st place. Suffice it to say never received any service and my problem continually grew as I was waiting on them to come out. I initially called for a flea treatment of my house. Scheduling was no problem and the woman helping me was very professional and warm. Fast forward to my appointment, which was between around 9am and 12 pm on a Saturday, and I get a call at 1030. They say the technician's car broke down, and they ask if there is any way they can reschedule. I get it, some things can't be helped and I agree to change the appointment no questions. Between a couple of calls, we're able to reschedule. Fast forward to the next appointment. They were supposed to be over between 1 and 5pm the following Tuesday. I hear nothing, but call them at 4:10, just to make sure there's no problems. When I call and ask, the woman immediately puts me on hold without any warning, and comes back to say that the original appointment didn't happen because the technician didn't have the right supplies. Okay, so someone LIED to me about their car because of their mess up. And then she says that the technician went home sick today. AND THEY NEVER EVEN CALLED ME, so I tell her that I feel lied to and if they can't even call me then I will get someone else. Her response? "I'm sorry." and then she hung up. I rearranged my day twice to meet these people's schedules, and they don't have the courtesy or respect of their customers to plan appropriately or to even make a phone call. This was the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I called their 800 number and was told that someone would be at my house on a Tuesday between 2-4pm. No one showed. I called at 4:45 and was told that the tech had a "family emergency" and had to cancel the appt yet no one called me to let me know.. I then made another appt for the following Thursday between 8am and 12pm. I called the 800 number twice that morning to make sure the appt was still on and was assured it was. At 12pm, no one had showed up. I called the 800 number again and was told that the technician wasn't answering his phone. I called the Woodland Park office was put on hold for 7 minutes before I was told that the tech wasn't answering his phone and they didn't know where he was. I asked to speak to the manager (Darryl) who was on another call. I asked that he call me back. He never did. The tech finally showed up at 1pm and had no excuse for his lateness. I told him I had found nother exterminator to handle my issue. They were TERRIBLE and had absolutely no regard for people who take off from work for two days only to have to call a different company. This company is the worst! Stay far far away! I signed up with them and made my payment, only for them to claim that I never paid them and sent me collections, even though they cashed my check. Their collections dept started harassing me...I called the Branch Manager who acknowledged that they had got the check and that the account was up to date. He confirmed that it was notated on my account that payment had been received and I also had a copy of the returned check from the bank. I was appalled and insisted that my account be cancelled due to the horrific customer service. The manager promised to notify collections that I paid so they can leave me alone. I continued to get calls and letters from collections...had to call the manager a second time and this time demanded that he send me something in writing that their collections department had been notified of payment, otherwise I was going to report to Consumer Affairs and file harassment charges against them. He finally sent me a copy of an email forwarded to their collections department confirming my payment and they stopped harassing me. All of this just because I made the mistake of doing business with this joke of company. They are unorganized(the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing), unreliable, and useless. Don't bother wasting your time. Use a local exterminator. Sometimes, bigger is not always better. I was much happier with the local guy. read more
