I got pizza from Papa Joes, Barraco's and Jets pizza which is 2 half slices that is in a box. The drone show scheduled for tonight is postponed because of rain and instead 11 pm tomorrow night. This year before the veterans ceremony Jim Corinelson who performs the nat Anthem at Blackhawks home games, will sing the national anthem on the main stage tomorrow night at 6pm. The update is because of the weather and status of the grounds, the village has canceled Taste of Orland Park after delaying the gate opening to 6 pm. This is for today August 1st, but they are hoping to be open and see you tomorrow. If any wants Jet's Pizza, it is in the same row but further down that Papa Joe's.

Frankfort Bluegrass on the green is a wonderfully laid back festival in a beautiful little space…read more Plus its free! You can't get 2 full days of free great music like that anywhere else nearby! Its great for families and bluegrass fans of all ages. Food and craft vendors are there selling things like gems and paintings. Outside alcohol is not permitted, there are a few beer gardens for your thirst quenching needs and Blue Island Brewery served up some suds this year! Yipee! Hint: Bring a chair or picnic blanket otherwise you will be standing in the back or sitting in the grass.

We first heard them at Chicago fest many years ago in the Crystal Garden on Navy Pier. The great Bill Monroe was at Navy Pier also. There are restaurants in the area, parking may be hard to find. Many vintage stores to shop at. Food is available on the site of the fest. Mark your calendar for a great time. There are other folk and country bands that play here as well.

The Taste of Egypt is my favorite little festival. Friendly people, savory foods, baklava,…read moretheology, camel rides, Middle Eastern music playing in the background. What's not to like? This year I enjoyed a delicious plate of marinated, grilled chicken with pita, tzatziki, rice, salad and a mango nectar soda. I could have eaten chicken and tzatziki all day! Also available were kufta, falafel, hummus & pita, stuffed grape leaves, and macaroni bechamel. For dessert I had two of the I-don't-know-how-many variations of baklava. Homemade baklava. So delicious! We then took a tour of the church from a well-prepared and engaging guide. Though we had taken the tour once before, I learned additional facts and traditions this time. If you are interested in architecture, iconography, or comparative religions you must not miss the church tour. Be sure to grab a copy of the pamphlet 'Egypt and The Copts' in the narthex (just inside the doors) of the church. We also attended a lecture by a knowledgeable presenter on the history of Christianity in Egypt. A few of us lingered afterward to discuss (Christian) church history and theology. Students and fans of comparative religions or theology will really enjoy this lecture. It's a great refresher on the history of Christianity in general. In addition, there are books for sale in the bazaar (Nefertiti's Treasures) about Egypt and about the Coptic faith. Now if tours and lectures aren't your thing, you can skip all that and take a camel ride. Yes, a camel ride! How often can you do this in the Western Suburbs? It's quite fun! You can ride alone or with others. This is not just for the kids. Both children and adults enjoy the camel rides. This year my husband and I rode the camel together. If you'd like, you can have your photo taken while on the camel. 4x6 or 8x10. It's a great souvenir of the day. I think the Taste of Egypt is a great fest for anyone. It's very family friendly -- not only can the kids ride a camel, but there's a petting zoo, a moon jump (bouncy house kind of thing) and some creative activities -- but adults without kids (like us) have a great time too. The adult beverages inside the tent weren't included but I promise they were STRONG! defintely not an all day affair but a great way to spend a few hours getting into the Christmas spirit!

I had a fun experience here! I think this is definitely a pumpkin patch that kids and young adults…read morecan both enjoy. This is a pretty big pumpkin patch, so there's plenty to explore and do. I went on a Saturday with my family which included two toddlers. It did get pretty packed, so getting there earlier the better, or just coming on a weekday if you don't want to deal with long lines or overcrowding. The Apple Cider and Apple Cider Donuts were delicious! I honestly wanted to come back here just to buy some more. They have plenty of other drink and snack options, too. The staff was pretty nice too. There's many things to do like a swing ride, petting zoo, and hayride -- all very fun. I will say, $40 per person is pretty steep for a pumpkin patch. While I had a good time, I kinda had to force myself to do everything to feel like it was worth that much money. Overall, I'd go back, though.

The gift shop was darling. It was pretty expensive but life is right now. All the workers were sweet hearts. Lovely way to get into the season!
