Nice quaint vibe with Great service - the pasta was good and seasoned well 4/5 - the gumbo was delicious but could've used a touch more flavor 3/5

    Catfish Thibodeaux

I travel for a living, and this hidden gem is my favorite place to eat in the state of Mississippi. I had the Catfish Thibodeaux, a shrimp and crabmeat stuffed panko bread crumb incrusted catfish filet topped with a Jalepeño cream sauce. They serve it over a veggie rice pilaf which by itself would be amazing. Their appetizers are fantastic, and the Seafood Gumbo is some of the best you'll get anywhere. Also, I love their bread pudding. They also have very good steaks. All in all it's hard to top it!!!

Exorbitant but charming. This down-town night haunt distinguishes itself in north Mississippi though its New Orleans style. White table cloths, folded, napkins, ice-water served; you get the picture. When you order rare they give it to you rare. This is the mark of an accomplished cook-staff. You might as well spend the $30 for it when a fish plate will run toward $20. Surprisingly, the fried mushrooms were tastier than the steak. The steak could hold its own but lacked any zing at all. It was a quality cut but rather bland. One advantage this place has is that it is very quiet. You could hear a cat prowling for a mouse. Luckily, there were neither rats nor cats to be seen.

Jubilee Burger-Angus beef stuffed with Gouda cheese!

Two words: Voodoo Burger! Mmmm! Mmmm! Well, I guess that's two words and a couple of sounds. Either way, it equals a happy tummy and happy taste buds! Then, there is the Jubilee Burger, that is filled with Smoked Gouda INSIDE the angus patty! Then, there is the tuna....then.... Oh, you get the idea! Bring your appetite and leave satisfied!

    Looks nice at least

Pluses: . The building resembled French Quarter architecture . Attractive decor helped give an authentic feel . Wait staff was nice Minuses: . Food preparation was slow . A cold roll (right out of the package) was provided atop so-so cuisine I expect this place to discontinue business within the year. In a nutshell: If you wanna dine at a New Orleans bistro, and you're less than a 5-hour-drive from there ... then go to New Orleans.

A good little spot for a nice, cheap lunch. The only downside is that the burger doesn't come with fries, you have to order them as a side!

I ordered the LandShark rolls, Boudin egg rolls, Bayou Mac, and a southern-style catfish. Let me just say... this spot was VERY good. Now the real star of the show? The LandShark rolls Soft, cheesy, packed with crawfish -- man... these were dangerous lol. I'm almost glad I didn't come here earlier during my trip because I would've been eating these every single day. No question. The Bayou Mac was also on point -- rich, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering again. Honestly, I had no complaints about anything I tried. The restaurant was pretty packed, which tells you everything you need to know. But if you're in a rush, they've got a food truck-style pickup outside, so you can grab your food and keep it moving. If you're anywhere near Oxford or Mississippi State and craving seafood, this is a must-try spot. Nothing but positive vibes from me -- I'd definitely come back. Thumbs up all around

This is a secret 5 Star Review although I chose 3 stars…read more I chose three stars to keep this institution's cred's up so to speak. It is law that the only people who yelp on average are 25 year old post-grad females who are looking for cleanliness, community, and an ambience soothing to them. I ACTIVELY AVOID Chinese buffets who have MORE THAN three stars. I am a disciplined professional as well. Let's examine. There is a necessary push and pull (cosmically) where the more and trendy ambience-exuding a restaurant is--pure flavor is sacrificed. Case in chief: you know as well as I do that this cosmically determined phenomenon is most apparent in Tacos (the more rustic and rugged the joint, the more those Taco jointz are gonna be DA (you know what). Now back to our observee "Grand Palace." Its name is almost comically stereotyped. It sits on the corner of a shopping mall in a very blighted and impoverished area. On its Google photo, its "L" in "Grand Palace" is missing. I picture it flickering in the night like the kiss of that one that got away that time in undergrad. Walking in, it is dark--sweetly dark with flashes of red, and light dragon art centered as the steamy bar hisses a savory whisper that draws you in. The room and mixed scent signals almost hugs you a little too hard. Behold the juicy chicken on a stick that is purely fried (not red, not dry, not half-assed as usual). I am talking sweetly juicy. Colonel eat your heart out. Behold the seemingly mundane standard-issue broccoli and beef flanking General Tso and sweet/sour puffs with that red blessing handy and waiting for you like an overly eager date. Get all your normal extremely sweet meats as an adornment for the reason you are here (the rice and the three kinds of noodles). Cut that sugar with that blessed "spicy chicken" that lives up to its banal name and presentation. Onions and jalapenos (like notes from home on a sojourn) join on the sordid affair. They have "rib tips" floating in a red sea of sweet sauce. Oh, add these to whatever you've piled 7 miles high by now. They will be like midnight wine-stains on your dish. The evidence of the crime of pure passion. No sushi. This place is too true to form. It is too powerful in its own right to try to keep up with the economics the place finds itself (this vanquished little town). Pro-Tips: 1) Bring a $20 spot for lunch and that takes care of tip and all. Quick exit this way (even if they drag bringing the ticket). 2) Adorn your plate with the fresh green onions (intended for the soups you may wisely skip). 3) Don't overlook the cheesecake/sponge cake (cornbread looking joker) on the desert bar.
