I agree surgery was good but appts are packed. Waiting time ridiculous. Last follow up appt on a Friday afternoon they actually FORGOT me. Put me in an exam room... then CLOSED while I was in there. Came out .. all dark... NOBODY there. Called out... empty. When I called Monday they acted like I made it up. Have not received apology. Never has happened before! Had a total hip replacement on April 29, 2025. Dr Morris was an excellent surgeon and my recovery went well. Just a FYI, beware of OrthoAlliance. I just received a bill of $876.78 for collagen bandages that I was totally unaware the cost of. I would have said no. They arrived without my knowledge and thought it was included in my surgery. The leg pumps (which I paid $230) for only worked 9 out of the 14 days I was to wear them. I definitely recommend Dr Morris and other Drs at JIS, but this is something they need to address. read more

I recently 10/14 had anterior hip replacement. I can't say enough good things about the care I received and success of the surgery. I was up and walking with no pain within days. As far as I am concerned, Dr. Berend is a miracle worker. 30 days past surgery and I am averaging walking 4 miles a day. read more

My 80 year old mother and I traveled to New Albany to JIS for a consultation regarding a knee replacement. The office experience was above and beyond. Time was taken to answer our questions. Full explanation was given in regards to my Mother's diagnosis. It was determined that our best course of action was to try cortisone and gel injections due to her age and potential risk with with surgery. The injections were given in office same day. We could not have been happier. Dr. Michael Thomas was so kind and professional. His patience and honesty with my Mother was so appreciated. We saw Dr. Byrd for my mom. The surgery was good but the follow up visits are not great. last visit my mom, 82, waited 30 minutes to see the Dr once in a pati room. this time we've been in the room an hour and still haven't seen the Dr. There was only one other patient in the waiting room when we got here. read more

First of all, the patients recovering from surgery are taken to the same area as patients prepping to go to surgery. Very unprofessional. Next, the recovery equipment that's purchased by the patient are pressure cuffs. epic failure in design & extremely noisy (great for sleeping). I had a total knee replacement in December 2016. The entire experience was stellar from the start. I highly recommend joint implant surgeons and specifically Dr. Keith Bernard. I am back hiking , biking, feeling better than I have in the past 15 years. Muscle atrophy is still a bit of an issue but hitting the gym is helping that. I am a 61 year old male. It's also important to state that I am not employed by Joint Implant Surgeons nor do I have any relatives that work there. This review is completely Independant. Dr Reed is the best. It usually takes quite some time ( at least a month) to get preapproved for my knee shot every 6 months. But once it is they get me right in the next available. I dont trust alot of Drs but Dr Reed has proven he is not all about surgery but trying to help you maintain your life with the least amount of pain possible. read more

This is the issue with reviews on sites like this.. Going by the past review sure don't sound well. My mother had double hip replacement By Dr Thomas Mallory and Dr Lombardi 14 years ago 2002 she was 69. Dr Lombardi did the procedure.At that time Joint Implant had a whole floor in Grant Hospital. At that time this was bout the only place to have double hip done in the country. Aside from them having Pro athletes as patients etc We knew Mom was in good hands. She's had one check up at there new location in New Albany after to moved out of Grant. Could not complain staff location was top notch. They even wanted her to be part of a study on how well etc past patients are doing etc. She had to decline due to distance. Dr Lombardi is still her Dr with them. Our family Can't say anything bad about Dr Lombardi. As for the other Dr's .. Well that's the issue with reviews on establishments . One can say the same about hospitals. These reviews do better on healthgrades or RateMD etc. So much at times depends on the experience with the DR or individual staff members. The same Dr or nurse etc to one person they'll rate them as the best ever etc and to another they were the worst Dr they ever dealt with etc. Its sad the previous person had bad experience. We don't know those other Dr's at Joint Implant. Just know that the experience we had with Dr Lombardi and Mallory was top notch. And hey my mother is 83. I'd say that was very success read more

Beautiful facility. Kind front desk staff, kind assistants. That being said the rest kind of falls apart. My sister, Chara had horrible knees. Years of skiing, rollerblading and a bad car accident have just done her in. While we have managed to put off a total knee replacement for sometime, we know it is looming in our near future. While researching orthopedists she ran across information on this clinic. They are touted to be some of the best around - claiming number one in their specialty. That may be the case but I was not impressed, Beautiful facility. Kind front desk staff, kind assistants. That being said the rest kind of falls apart. Once we were back into an exam room a physicians assistant took her history, did a small battery of tests (range of motion, flexion, extension) and then Dr. Keith Berend came in along with a fellow who was shadowing him and another assistant who appeared just to be taking notes for him. He reviews my sisters x-rays and agreed she has "horrible knees." When she asked what were her options he simply stated "Total replacement." She again asked him what options were there to that because she has seen all different kinds of knee replacements and he never elaborated. When she asked about the type of knee he would be using he got even shorter and because she told him she had a reaction to a screw she had once before he admonished her by saying that "I use only titanium, but I can tell you there is no real correlation to metals and allergies. They have run tests and cannot prove it." I beg to differ. I know plenty of people allergic to metals and classified that way by doctors! She asked if she elected to do surgery how soon it would be and he told her he could do it as soon as Monday (This was a Tuesday). She told him she would let him know and the next thing you know his assistant came back and was giving us all the details on what to do the night BEFORE. It was crazy. And still no questions answered. She told my sister they wanted her on Tylenol the day before and would use IV Tylenol through the procedure. We told them she is allergic and the lady just said "Oh...OK" we asked what they would use instead and she never answered it. Needless to say we are NOT going back to this facility. All the beauty and outward appearance cannot make me trust a doctor that wont answer our questions. read more

Unbelievably unprofessional place! We had to wait 13 hours for an out patient surgery, then when he gets done they make us go fill his prescriptions before he can leave!!!!! What if he would of gotten a ride from SEAT? He would of went home in pain? When doctors and nurses pass you in the hall they give you Dirty looks and act rude. I'll do surgery on myself before I'd come here lol. read more

Technally good joint replacement & to date have had no problem with the joint. Patient education almost non-existant. Saw surgeon once besides surgery even though I had post-op complication. Physician assistant denied any problem. Follow up physical therapy much less than my first hip, done by another physician, and thus my return to "normal" was very delayed. Would not recommend. read more

We give nothing but the highest rave reviews possible for the way Dr. Jason Hurst and his staff treated my husband there. My husband had his first knee done 12/16 and his second knee done 12/18. Both times, he received nothing but excellent care from consultation to post op visits. They kept my son and I informed and looked after us also the whole time. From the time we got there till we left, we could not have been treated better. My husband was treated with the utmost care anyone there could give, we were treated like family. Several of the ones we have told have went and have received the same level of high quality care as David did. David elected to have his surgeries at the Athens Center since it was almost 2 hours closer to home, but we went to New Albany for both of his consultations. Dr. Berend and the staff are very efficient and skilled. The best service was Joint Implant's surgery center, White Fence Surgical Suites, who bundled the bill and works hassle free with patients like me who use a Christian coop (Samaritan Ministries) for healthcare. The bundled self-pay bill was $30k and only had to pay one provider (White Fence) rather than manage the norm of 3 providers (doc, hospital, anesthesiologist) making life MUCH simpler for managing costs and billing. The total cost was much less than other surgery centers, and the docs are highly rated nationally. I HIGHLY recommend Joint Implant and White Fence!! read more

I had TKR on 7/13/17 on my left knee and have TKR scheduled for my right knee on 11/20/17. Dr Lombardi answered all my questions and I have had no problems at all. I would highly recommend both Dr. Lombardi and the White Fence Surgical Center. I have nothing but good things to say. read more
