Our appt was at 2:10pm and it is now 3:09pm and still waiting to see doctor. Rude and bad organizational skills. The other bad thing is they only validate for an hour. I fractured my right wrist on 7/1. after visiting urgent care, UCI Medical Center Lakewood, and my primary doctor, I was ref to Dr. William Kim for further evaluation. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly staff and did not wait long to be called in and be seen by Orthopedic surgeon William C. Kim. when he entered the examination room he asked what happened and quickly explained the pros and cons of the fracture. I didn't fully understand everything he said and try repeating what I heard he said. And when I asked questions, He quickly corrected me in a harsh tone that scared me enough to not to continue asking any more question. He didn't spent more than 4 minutes with me. He never asked how I was feeling , if I was still having pain, or if the meds that were prescribed by the ER doctor were helping. I don't want to return or keep my next appointment. But I feel that I don't have a choice and that all Orthopedics are Irritated, overwhelmed and exhausted with their profession. Therefore, they exhibit this kind of behavior on the patient. read more

Be sure to park outside on the street and make sure you read the street sweeping signs! You only get an hour for free in the ONLY parking lot in Torrance that charges for parking. This review is for the Long Beach office! The office staff is horrible and really reflects poorly on the doctors. The lady with her hair up in a bun that makes return appointments, etc. on your way out the door is rude, abrtupt and unfriendly! Also, they take forever to get anything done - they forget or just don't get around to - sending over surgery orders to hospitals. They took 2 weeks to request a referral for an MRI all the while I was in agony. Dr. Chandran is always late. arriving to office. I see him arrive to the office 30 minutes or so AFTER the time of my appointment, so then there is a big backup. Last appointment I waited 2 hours before being called to the back. The exam rooms are more like storage rooms...and filthy! Exam room 4 is disgusting and they gave me two injections in that room with a big filthy cleaning bucket sitting a couple feet away. It would be very surprising to me that this organization would remain in business if they didn't benefit from be "in-group" for specialist referrals, because they are absolutely awful. Never mind the fact that they require an X-Ray for all new patients before they even see them, which seems like a complete waste. They didn't send an order to radiology, so I had to tell the radiologist what I think they wanted an x-ray of. Just baffling. Then for my first appointment, the doctor examined the x-ray and my hand and told me to get an MRI. This time, an order was supplied for the MRI, but the MRI tech told me it had little detail so again, he relied on me explaining what I think the doctor wanted to see. After my MRI was sent to the doctor no one from the office called me. After a couple weeks, I called and left 3 voicemails over the course of a week and no one returned my calls. The only way I was able to get an appointment was having my PCP make the appointment for me!!! After my follow-up, they told me that I should receive a referral in the mail for a different surgeon. It's been 2 weeks and I've not received a referral, so I've called the office. Again, no one answer and it goes straight to voicemail. And no one bothers to return my calls. Dr. Kim I absolutely love. I used to be an EMT near by been threw all the South Bay hospitals, homes, etc, etc so I've seen my share of doctors. He's straight to the point won't sugar coat anything lol but makes sure YOU understand your injury and won't hesitate to do everything to make you feel better inside and out. His staff actually acknowledges you when you come up for an appointment "you'd be surprised in alot of places ) but the gem of the office is Melissa M the OTC. Hands down best beside manner & positive energy I've been around in the med field. I have a fractured ankle so my mother in law driving me around aaccompanying me to my appointments who happens to be an retired RN and said the exact same thing when Melissa left the exam room. (2 visit had to get re-cast cause swelling went down) THANK GOD, Dr. Kim & staff for the good laughs & positive vibes coming & going. read more

!AVOID! Had an appointment booked two days in advance. Sometimes they wouldn't pick up when I called and put me on hold multiple times. I was there a half-hour before my appointment and filled out all the new patient paperwork BEFORE my appointment time and still had to WAIT 1.5 HOURS...People were coming up to the front desk complaining about the wait time and canceled their appointments. This place was packed with people and had to stand outside the office while waiting. The doctor I saw was punctual and answered any questions I had. At least I learned some things from her at the end of all this. This office takes in way too many people/appointments. I felt like I wasn't treated like a priority; I was just next in line. The people here were nice to me but they really need to take on less patients and start honoring their appointments. read more

I don't think that this business deserves such a low rating. We were referred to Dr. Kim through our insurance (HMO) and after reading the reviews I was worried, but most of the reviews are old and focused on the office staff. I've rated it higher to compensate. Once we had the referral, they scheduled an appointment for the very next afternoon at 4:00. With such short notice and having them fit us in, I was prepared to wait. We arrived at 3:40. The staff were efficient and gave us new patient paperwork and took the co-pay right away. The office was very busy with a few patients coming on gurneys from the hospital or nearby nursing homes. It took a while to see the doctor. It was about 4:45 when Dr. Kim came in. He was efficient, reviewing the X-ray, determining a treatment plan, and then referring to Dr. Narby in his practice for follow up since he has more experience with injuries to the elbow. The Tech and other staff inside were great. Very helpful and quick. The facilities are pretty worn, but I think it's the whole building that is that way. ... update- my son made a full recovery. He was referred to physical therapy which worked out well. read more

worst office visit experience ever. the wait time is always 1-2 hours, so don't even bother coming early, it'll just add on to your wait time. the office staff/receptionists are cold and completely apathetic. they have a very "okay, so what?" kind of attitude when you check in with them about the wait time. I've even had experiences where I wasn't seen because I had already waited an hour and half, but needed to leave to pick up my nephew from school. and then once you're in, you wait again for the doctor, and when they finally come, you barely get time with them. feels like a waste of time. if you're able to choose a different doctor, it's worth it to not have to deal with the terrible experience you'll have for all of your pre and post op appointments. read more

My PCP referred me to this place to see an orthopedic surgeon. I made an appointment. For an orthopedic surgeon. After waiting approximately 6 weeks, I sat in this tiny, full waiting room for 3.5 hours before being brought in to see.... A PA. No orthopedic surgeon. A PA. I spent 10 minutes with this guy having him tell me everything I already knew, which were the reasons why I was there to see AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. I traded 3.5 hours of my life that I can never get back for nothing but an appointment for.. AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON. 6 w iteeks later. When I got to said orthopedic surgeon, he walked grudgingly into the room where my MRI results were up on his computer along with the written report He commenced to ask me why I was there and what I wanted. During this visit he ended up telling me that he could cut away more meniscus if I wanted him to, that it might help, It might not. It might make it worse. What did I want him to do? He also took a personal phone call during the appointment would you walked out of the room with. I looked at his reviews later and if I had done that first I never would have been there at all. This was Dr. William Kim. This group is disorganized, this particular doctor has the 'bedside manner' of a seasick crocodile, And then it seems that even though I spent 3.5 hours in their waiting room, they never collected my co-payment. So they billed me for it. When I called about it, the person who answered was rude, condescending and downright snotty. I've reported them to my insurance company and requested that they be removed from their provider list. They are not the only game in town. If you experience something like this, call your insurance company directly. Not your care provider, your insurance company. They gave me the names of two or three other orthopedic surgeons who were not only able to get me in within less than 2 weeks rather than 6 to 8, there was no middle appointment whose purpose I still haven't figured out. Bad! Bad! Bad! I don't know about the doctors at this facility but the staff is completely incompetent. Particularly the woman who sat behind the counter checking people in and eating potato chips the entire time I was waiting. To tell the story... I had a referral from my primary care physician. I was scheduled to see Dr. Jeffrey Spychalski. I arrived ten minutes early for my appointment with all of my paperwork filled out. I checked in, paid my co-pay, and I sat down. At that time there was only one other patient waiting. They were soon called in to see the doctor. Soon after, they left. As I sat there waiting, at least seven other patients who arrived after me, were called in and left. Finally, after a patient who had an appointment forty minutes after me was called in, I went to ask what was going on. I was told that they were having trouble reading the x-rays that my primary care physician had supplied them with. I asked,"Why didn't you tell me? In all the time I was waiting, I could have gone and gotten another copy, as my primary care physician is only ten minutes away." They asked me to wait some more. Fifteen more minutes past, again other patients come and go, Finally, I go up to the counter to see what is happening. After all of my waiting they tell me they can't read the x-rays. I responded, "You should have known that within a couple of minutes and let me know." Then, they tell me that they want me to reschedule for another day. I tell them, "Forget it." Dr. Spychalski is by far the worst doctor I've ever dealt with! No bedside manners what so ever. He seems to rush you out as quickly as he can. I've seen him twice now, and both times he spent less than five minutes with me. I pretty much had to push him to get me a referral to get a MRI scan. Do not go here if you can help it!!! read more

I am an patient of Dr Kim in Torrance. Dr. Kim himself is an excellent DR. But his office staff and office is run like a hen -house. I don't even know why they make appointments with people since no matter your appointment time, they seem to take you in on a first come first served basis. Once I was in the waiting room and it was full of people and a line formed to the front desk, and the office personnel didn't seem to care and spent about 10 minutes chatting among themselves where or what they were going to go and eat lunch. Another time an gentleman in his late 60's lost it and chewed them out after waiting for over an hour after his appointed time. Last night I had to go to the emergency at the hospital at about 0230 am and didn't get out until about 0630 in the morning. I had an appointment at 0900 am with Dr. Kim but was so exhausted when I've got home from the hospital that I couldn't keep my eyes up and fell asleep. Woke up at 0935 am and called and they got me another appointment at 5 pm. Got there right on time. Waited to 6 pm. where I was told I was next. Another patient went in before me and I finally snapped. My wife who drove me there had to leave to go to her job. So we stormed out of there pissed off minus $10.00 in copay and no services rendered. The same rude guy who took my appointment call acted rude and blamed me for it and wouldn't give me his name when asked. To top it all off....they charge you $20.00 for every form you need for Dr.s notes and the like. There are no organization there you call them and they act like they don't know whats up even if they called you for an follow up appointment. Unbelievable :( read more

I went to see Dr. Spychalski for a knee injury. WORST DOCTORS VISIT EVER. I called their office the minute I got the referral information from my primary doctor and set up an appointment easy enough. I was told that my appointment was at 9am. Initially there is only one other patient in the waiting room, he goes in while I am repeatedly called up and down from the front desk to check in, then to get paper work, then to give me insurance card/ID, then to pay my copay. I asked the receptionist if I could do that all at one time since it hurts my knee to repeatedly get up and sit down, her reply was no. WHAT? at the orthopedic doctors office you have to inconvenience your patients multiple times before even seeing the doctor? As I wait in the waiting room another patient comes in (after me) and proceeds to get called in before me. I found this strange since I was already waiting there for 30+ minutes! I get called in and get questioned by the nurse and left in the waiting room for almost 45 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting I hobble to the door and open it and ask what's the hold up? The nurse replied, your next referring to a neon sign clipped to the door as if that explains anything. So I ask to leave the door open because I am tired of their bull shit, and continue to wait. Dr. Spychalski comes in, asks a few questions, pokes my injured knee, and suggests that I get an MRI. I literally did not spend more than 5 minutes with the man, and then am told to wait again. 15 minutes later the nurse says I can go, and that they will set up the referrals. So I've now been at this office for 2 hours! This is an unreasonable amount of time in my opinion. I go back to the receptionist and ask how long until I hear back about the referrals, and she proceeds to ask me to take a seat and wait, and at this point I say no and stand in front of desk because I am not wasting any more of my time. She explains to me that they are behind on paperwork so it will take a while, and says maybe 3 or 5 days. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE! I then ask to make my follow up appointment so I can make sure to be the first patient of the day. I asked to make it a month later and was refused. She refused to let me make any follow up appointment because I haven't gotten my MRI done yet. WORST DOCTORS OFFICE EVER! Luckily I went to a chiropractor beforehand who has extremely helpful, and answered all my questions, and actually examined my injury! Dr. Michael Lau in San Pedro (Epic Health Chiropractic) ! He suggested acupuncture as well, and I went to Trinity Acupuncture in Torrance and was seen by Dr. Kim. She was fantastic! Thanks to these two my knee will heal properly! read more

I would give them zero if I could. I hope people read this post and steer clear of these doctors. I was refereed to "Dr." Spychalski a few years ago. He was the worst doctor I have ever seen. I was having a problem with my thumb and he wanted to do an injection and I said "No" I have already had one and it didn't do any good. So he threw my xrays at me and said there is nothing else I can do for you and stormed out of the room. WOW! I wound up going to Kerlan-Jobe, which they do a lot of the sports teams and the doctor there fixed up my hand/thumb very nicely. I guess if Spychalski can't fix it quickly or easily he won't do it. My suspicion is that he had no clue how to help me. Go back to school Spychalski, learn your job and lean some manners. read more

I saw Dr. N arvy about 6 months ago for my shoulder injury. Soon as he entered the room, he grabbed the injection right away without asking me anything. What happened, what made you come here, what have you taken, what's the level of pain, nothing. He never discussed about the result of x ray which was displayed on the tv nor the result of the MRI. I wanted some information from him because all the info that I got was from my primary doctor who is not orthopaedic doctor. I tried to ask him some questions about the possibility of surgery. One question , one quick answer from him showing no interest at all. if I didn't ask him a question, I would not be able to hear his voice. I figured all he wanted to do was to inject which required seconds to finish and he got his professional fee. When I called again to see a different doctor, the lady said he's the only the one doing shoulder surgery. Then I read a review about his patient which had surgery done by him and still not doing right and when he called he was getting a run around. If you were me, will you entrust your surgery to him. I've been suffering for 8 months now. Please suggest a good doctor for shoulder injury. read more

I had my first appointment and consult with Dr. KIM at the Long Beach office. I was thoroughly impressed with him. I was exceptionally impressed with his expertise & knowledge of my problem immediately upon my explanation. He gave a personal analogy after a demonstration of my body mechanics related to the problem. He provided a simple explanation of where the problem lies and his intention to treat it. He was direct and wasted no time to perform the first treatment. His bedside manner and empathy for my situation and the causes of it were so comforting. It was as if I was his only patient of the day, taking the time necessary to assess and discuss the problem with me. I had much anxiety before seeing him as I didn't know what to expect as a new patient. I would recommend Dr. KIM to anyone. He was truly the best! Thank you, Dr. KIM. read more

I was referred to Dr Jeffrey W Spachyalski after my ER visit a few days prior. When I finally spoke with him, he seemed impatient, aloof and impersonal to my questions. I was told I would have surgery for my leg because of a torn tendon and would need therapy after surgery; it would take about 4-6 months did partial recovery. He quickly diagnose me and tried to schedule me for surgery. Unfortunately because of the inept Dr Louie at Little Company of Mary Hospital that should've admitted me to surgery before I got pneumonia, Now it's been a month and the surgery is going to take its toll on my recovery! Get this! I followed up with Dr Spachyalski and he pulled the old "bait and switch" and referred me to Dr Kim who happens to be the one with the fancy medical acronym under his title on the office door "FCOAS" or some bullshit. It turns out Spachyalski had a "vacation" coming and passed the buck to Dr Kim who expressed his ignorance of my situation and in turn vented his frustration on his staff while my door was open. He was straightforward, but rude and uncertain of himself when I asked questions about what I can expect from the surgery upon completion (whenever the hell that would be). He treated me like I was a special case and advised me that he would have a "second surgeon" present which made me distrust him further. The staff is terrible at returning calls; the survey scheduler is ridiculously ignorant and unprofessional. If you're in dire need of medical attention and need an ER, PASS THIS PLACE UP! Torrance Memorial Hospital is only 5 minutes away if you floor it! And remember, it's an emergency! Don't gamble with your health folks! read more

Arm broken and wouldn't address my hand going numb and my pain getting worse after several weeks. Got a second opinion and he put my cast on with my hand at a huge angel. Guess what new cast feeling back in my hand. Also wrong size of cast for the broken arm. I have looked online and this guy has the worse reviews I have ever seen. Should of checked first. Very negative experience on my first visit. I was scheduled to see Dr. Kim. Had an 8:25am appointment, arrived 14 minutes early, many people in the waiting room. Asked front desk if doc was running on time. That person said yes. I waited over an hour in the waiting room, and about 10 minutes in the exam room. How does a paitent maintain a decent attitude with that kind of wait. But since I had paid my co-pay I stayed. Dr. Kim was very abrupt, said I have a student with me I hope that's ok. Well what if it's not? He explained what carpal tunnel is, and then TOOK A PHONE CALL. It's my nurse he said. He said into the phone tell them I'm not playing golf today. Really?? Then he asked my if I had any questions. Well yeah, doc, what does surgery involve? What's the downtime? Will I benefit? You have my x-ray and nerve test report. Oh, good questions he said. Then the phone rings again. He starts to take the call, I said you can put the phone on silent you know. He didn't take the call. He said I can't tell you what to do, I can only inform you. Gee, really? Good thing you clarified that for me. He finally said I think you would benefit but there is no guarantee of improvement. I am a patient of Drs. Kim and Leong in the Long Beach office and have been for years. I would not go anywhere else! The Drs are experts in their field and have always been upfront and honest about my needs and options for treatment I appreciate their candor. The office staff is absolutely amazing!!!! I have always been greeted with a smile and leave with one too! The Assistants are beyond the best, I don't know what I would do without Delwin and Christina. You will never find more knowledgeable professionals! And scheduling miracles are pulled off by Nancy, I don't know how she does it, I have a very complicated case and the people at this office always make feel hopeful and confident that I am in the best hands! read more

I had the very unfortunate luck of being referred to Dr Jeffery Spychalski. On my first visit he never made eye contact or physically touched or examined me. Nor did he introduce himself. He simply said I'm referring you to Physical Therapy (PT). I went to PT for 5 weeks in which the most wonderful PT fully explained my MRI. Unfortunately PT just made matters worse. My PT suggested I see Dr Spy for further diagnosis and treatment. On 5/10/17 I went to my appt. His aide said why are u here? He said he discharged you. I stated "how when he referred me to PT and it wasn't successful. I'm here to be re-evaluated". He then entered the room and of course never making eye contact again. He admitted he never read the PTs notes. I told him I was in excruciating pain at a level of 10 with tremendous swelling of my right knee. He said I'll give you a cortisone injection. He left the room and his aide said to sit down and be ready for him. I said it's painful to sit. She said no sit be ready. I could tell she didn't want me to make him angry. So I did. He came in swabbed my knee and with no explanation of what he was going to do or what to expect he jabbed my knee with the injection. I screamed with the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life. In such anger he said " Oh come on it doesn't hurt. I've had it done and it doesn't hurt'. I was in tears. He jabbed again and I screamed again. He said "I'm done I'm not continuing and you aren't getting the injection". His aide came and told me to go to my primary Dr. And get referred to another surgeon. I said "you bet I am. That is the worst Dr. I have ever encountered in my life". I would of given him negative stars if I could but it won't let me. This man should not be practicing at all. He needs to work in a mortuary or for the coroner. Needless to say I went to see my wonderful Dr. Shetty and she is referring me to another Dr. She gave me my cortisone injection with about 80% less pain then he caused me. If anyone has a suggestion if a good Dr. I would appreciated a recommendation. read more
