I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to see my husband with straight legs and feeling 20 years younger. Had he not gone in and gotten those knees of his replaced when he did, he would have been in a wheelchair within the next few years. I can't even remember anymore, how bad both his legs were from his arthritis. To give a shout out to my husband, he took his part of taking care of his new knee replacements very seriously. Within 9 days of both surgeries he was back to work. I think he thinks he's Superman. He is a great testimony to the work Dr.O'Shea does...if the patient steps up and follows through by doing their part after the surgery. Then there is Lisa, his fabulous assistant. Another great person with a wonderful polite bedside manner. My husband and I are as comfortable seeing her as we are seeing Dr. O'Shea for injection's and post op procedures. Dr. Mesnier is supposed to be a good ankle surgeon and I have been trying to get an appointment since March 2025. Despite a physician referrral, good insurance, an increasingly unstable painful ankle I can barely walk on, an MRI with ligament and tendon tears, and filling out all the online paperwork, I have yet to see her. It's August. Her office cancelled my first two new patient appointments with short notice. Christina hasn't requested my records or MRI scan, even though I filled out and signed a request with my new patient paperwork. Yesterday I asked if she'd received my imaging and she said "No, I haven't requested it because it takes a really long time for them to send it, so it's the patient's responsibility." I told her I have to cancel and reschedule a half day of my own cancer patients for these appointments they keep cancelling, and asked if she could make my appt on a day when that won't happen. Her reply: "It's not my fault if patients need surgery". Nice. It doesn't seem like they want my business, so I guess it's not my fault if I go somewhere else. Dr. Mesnier probably doesn't know this is happening, and unfortunately this review is the only way to communicate with her. I will happily update it and the rating if I end up seeing her and having a good experience!

Dr Manoso showed me the X-rays and explained my injury. Thankfully it appears as it may heal w/o surgery. After an exam he said this would take some time to heal and to be patient. I was given the OK to walk and do some light aerobic on the elliptical but at less than my pre injury 60 minutes time. I am glad I was directed to see Dr Manoso when scheduling and confident he will be my guide through the healing and resuming the sports I love!

The surgery I had here in 2018 somehow fell apart, so I needed it done again. If I had any…read morealternatives, I would be crazy to go back to this clinic - but since I don't, I went to them again. I already knew before I even got started that I needed surgery, but I still had to go through FIVE appointments just to get the surgery scheduled. This stretched out for well over a month, with me being in pain the whole time. Every time I needed an appointment, I had to call them, talk my way past a useless robot, and then get put on hold for an obscenely long time. Then at the office, they kept me waiting 30-60 minutes past my scheduled appointment time every time. Maybe your office wouldn't be so hopelessly swamped if you didn't force people to go through a ridiculous number of unnecessary appointments. When I finally got the surgery scheduled, I had to go to a hospital very far away in Oregon City, even though there are plenty of closer options, and communication on the day before the surgery was not as clear as it should have been. On the day of the procedure, I was forced to wait outside in the cold and then walk a long distance around the outside of the hospital, while starving, all because of blatantly wrong signage on the hospital. After the surgery, they referred me to physical therapy, who refused to take my insurance even though it is a division of the same company, forcing me to enter another round of phone tag and ultimately figure PT out on my own. They gave me a brace with pads that fall off way too easily, and told me that I was required to wear it everywhere at all times. Well surprise surprise, some of the pads got lost. When I called them to ask for help replacing the pads, they were unable to help, leaving metal digging directly into my skin. I ultimately had to remake the pads myself using supplies from a crafts store. They also failed to provide me with the crutches I needed, and I had to supply my own. I needed multiple doctor's notes for my work and for the Employment Office. Are you sitting down? ROC charges you $30 every time you need a note. My insurance already paid them over $60,000, but why miss yet another opportunity to nickel-and-dime patients and kick us when we are down? I think this is disgusting and greedy (although it is not illegal). ROC subjected me to every hassle they possibly can. This experience was extremely stressful, and the whole process could have been completed in just the time it took for the surgery to be scheduled.

At about 4 months I had a pain level of 10 with swelling and bruising. The message never got to DrSchabel as she isn't allowed to see MyChart messages even if they are addressed to her. After 3 months of pain. And increasing disability I called to get an appointment with Dr Schabel. I was told that I would have to wait 2 months to see her. I had to exercise extreme pressure to get in to see her. When I finally got in ,Dr Schabel diagnosed that the knee had come loose. I endured months of pain and increasing disability with no one paying attention. I had to have a revision surgery. It is too bad that an outstanding surgeon is working in a system that has such abysmal follow up. OHSU relys on PAs for all post surgery follow up. Communication with the doctor is by My Chart. However the doctors don't see the My Chart messages addressed to them. It is the PA who answers for the doctor. The doctors are booked at least two months out and it is almost impossible to get an appointment with the physician, You are told that your only option is to see the PA. I love Dr Schabel but hate the system.

Last surgery they cut off pain meds put you on Gabapentin leaving me in agony.. they kept me in the hospital 10 days I ended up getting blood poisoning from the hospital had to get a PICC line threaded into my heart to administer antibiotics IV Port for 3 months. When I told Dr Schabel she rolled her eyes...told me she expects her patients to work w her in regard to pain medication. Big red flag... the audacity she wants to be sparing w opiates after you have titanium pounded into your bones? it's insanity! She said after the first prescription she doesn't like to give refills... she said she likes to put her patients on Tylenol alternating w Ibuprofen if you can imagine such a thing. She said "are you on pain medication now?" I said yes, she said she wanted me to stop taking it.. didn't ask me why she knows nothing about me physically.. She didn't hear a word I said all she cares about is doing exactly what she wants to do & how she wants to do it. Ive lived a healthy lifestyle I've never abused drugs. I'm 71 yrs they're going to deny me opiates after BONE SURGERY? I had been going to all my pre-op appts but after I met w her I've been so anxious.. After a few weeks & many sleepless nights I decided to cancel my surgery. Not to be unkind but I wouldn't refer Dr Schabel to anyone I care for.

To my surprise making the appointment online was incredibly easy and I was able to complete everything without any need to call and speak to anybody. That was awesome! I don't have a lot of time in my day to call and go through the endless back-and-forth of trying to find a date which works. Of course with any medical provider the equality of service is the most important piece. I felt as if the doctor took the time to understand my problem and to learn what activities I wanted to get back to that I wasn't able to. He suggested physical therapy exercises that I may not have tried before and quickly made a referral to get an MRI after I told him all of the different things I had tried before coming to see them. While no one wants to go see a doctor, if you do need to see a sports medicine doctor, this is the place to go.
