    Osaka combo and sushi combo.
    Brian B.

We saw the sign in the interstate and decided to try Osaka. They are being careful about COVID and are takeout only. We are in our travel trailer in the parking lot. We both got combos with miso soup and sushi. Fish was fresh, tempura was crispy, and everything was tasty.

    Nice staff parking job

Decent sushi. Nice atmosphere. Service is spotty. Staff ignorantly abuses handicap parking.

The restaurant itself is stylish and intimate. The space boasts eye catching decor from neon signs and a mahjong tile doorway to big murals and light fixtures in the form of umbrellas and lanterns. The menu is printed to look and feel like a Hong Kong Hollywood newspaper which I also thought was really cool. The menu here is smaller and more focused than the one at the Kowloon, but I did see that it still offers a handful of the Kowloon's signature dishes. In the case of this restaurant, I definitely feel that the limited menu is essential to producing higher quality dishes. We shared a scorpion bowl cocktail for two, which was served in a cute beckoning cat drinking vessel. For food we got the scallion pancake, the General Gau's chicken and the Brussels sprouts. The food came out about ten minutes after we ordered which initially made me a little bit nervous about the food quality, but once we dug in we could tell that the food was quite fresh. The scallion pancake was nice and crispy on the outside, a little bit chewy on the inside and was served with a ginger sauce for dipping. The Brussels sprouts were prepared Kung Pao style with peanuts and a touch of chili pepper. The General Gau's chicken was fried well, coated in a delightfully sweet and spicy sauce and topped with crispy fried rice noodles. We are just about every morsel on the plates. We knew had to save a little room for dessert here when we saw that they serve a giant chocolate dipped fortune cookie that they smash apart with a mallet right at the table. Served alongside some ice cream, the giant fortune cookie is a super sweet and fun way to finish your time here. Additionally, it came as a pleasant surprise when our check came and it was not quite as high as we were anticipating, especially when you consider that the restaurant is housed inside of a casino. All in all, 9 Dragons left us with a great first impression. A great addition to the Seacoast.

Decided to try a new Chinese food place as my regular place didn't have the dish my brother wanted,…read moreI am so glad I did! I am very picky when it comes to meat but after sampling a variety of meat/seafood dishes I was very impressed. My favorite (out of General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Orange Shrimp) was the Orange Shrimp as the shrimp were battered and fried and the sauce was bursting with spicy citrusy flavor without being crazy. The dish did come with broccoli in the sauce (which absorbed a ton making it the spiciest part of the dish so beware). Also as a disclaimer, my stomach is very sensitive to fried, rich food and I had no sick feelings after this meal! Along with these mains I sampled the veggie low mien, chicken fried rice, and crab rangoon. The noodles and rangoon were delicious but the rice tasted a little underseasoned (still fresh and yummy though). Perhaps the highlight of my meal, however, was the homemade duck sauce - WOW! The only downside to it is that you have to order/pay for it separately (does NOT come with the appetizers) which I didn't realize until I went to pick up my food, wallet-less. Luckily, the establishment threw in two small containers (the 2oz ones) for free which I really appreciated. My only complaints about China Wok are that the delivery times aren't elaborated on their website (meaning you have to call and hope delivery's available) and that their wait times are inconsistent and usually it takes much longer than expected (mainly because they're very popular ergo busy). However, the food quality is amazing and service friendly enough that I don't mind waiting in the car. The only thing moving forward that would prohibit me from ordering from here is if I were unable to drive during a non-delivery time.

Pork buns: the pork was cooked perfectly and the bun was nice and soft. The sauce went well everything and it's a great starter dish. Spicy Kimchi Ramen- this consists of pork belly, pickled mushrooms, kimchi and fried garlic. The ramen was really good and had a lot of flavor with just the right amount of spice from the kimchi. Perfect for a cold day! Colonel Sanders Ramen- this had a pork broth with fried chicken and was delicious and moist. Also had corn with Vermont butter which you can taste through the bowl. This dish was the highlight for me and I'll definitely be back again. If you're in Salem, MA and are craving ramen then be sure to give this place a try.

However, the food itself wasn't spectacularly special for me to grant the fifth star. There was a good amount of fat on the pork belly, and I wasn't really a fan of the wavy noodles. It's like cheap noodles in what should be a premium dish. The flavored sodas (N/A alternatives) were a great find and a decent value on the menu. The Porchetta heavily relied on the pork and the sear, seasoning and proper cooking of the meat. It pulled apart easily, had a nice thin crust on it and was plenty tender while also juicy. The arugula was a good balance and helped keep the cheese in place. The bread was perfectly toasted and crusty but absolutely fresh like a good hoagie should be. The Cubano had seasonings ON the panini pressed bread that were on point with the rest of the flavor profile of the sandwich. The balance between the mustard, pickles, and seasoned bread accentuated the meat instead of covering it up. Drinks well made but missing ingredients due to menu swap and also warm flat soda. Atmosphere quiet, but boring compared to Portsmouth. The best thing on my plate was fries. We had burger with curry fries. And Cemita with regular fries. Burger was fine. Curry on the fries was slathered not drizzled. The curry ketchup was sweet, off putting. It tasted nothing like curry ketchup. Grilled chicken on cemita tasted like they cleaned the dirty grill with it. Greasy, dirty, No salt or pepper. Side of shrimp, no seasoning either. Pickled onions were good and Advocado was fresh. Came with chipotle mayo decent. But if the sauce is carrying the chicken.... Not good. Probably won't return. Portsmouth vs Exeter is night and day.

My drink came after 15 mins and then we had to remind the waiter about his whiskey. That took another 10. We started with the chicken bao buns and the samosas. Both spectacular! My only complaint is the little size for the samosa size. For our mains we got the short rib and the white butter chicken. The butter chicken could've used a bit more chicken for the price and was frankly a bit tough. The sauce was great. The short rib was flavorful and packed the perfect punch. Dipping the garlic naan in both sauces was my fav part!! Overall an ok experience. I want to give the restaurant grace because it was very packed but service was poor. I think we had 4 different staff members help us total which probably led to lots of miscommunication.

The pork bun was okay, having a different flavor profile than what I was expecting from usual Chinese pork buns. The pho, unfortunately, was a little disappointing: while the duck itself was good, lean and tasty, the broth was almost tasteless. Addition of their house hot sauce didn't improve it (maybe needed the real sriracha!). And - I got a stomach ache right after the meal (maybe from the raw bean sprouts?). Anyway, wished I'd gone with the ramen ... So some dishes were very good, some need work imo. We'll try it again - I haven't been put off by the experience tbh. Staff is very pleasant and friendly.
