Tuna & Salmon sashimi, PK roll, pepper tuna, Kani Salad
    Jessica P.

This place only does takeout or delivery but don't let that fool you into thinking it's sub-par. I only ordered sushi and I thought all of it was fresh and tasty. My only disappointment was the Kani salad since the menu description was misleading.. it says it is made with crabmeat, however it is clearly made with crab stick... won't order that again.

This place has a vast amount of different sushi options. I found myself really enjoying the yellow tail roll and the shrimp tempura roll. I really like how they assort the plates of sushi when there is a larger order. All the sushi tastes fresh and is offered at a good price. They do not have a sitting area, only pick up. They accept digital pay.

    Pupu platter for two

I was hoping for a delicious lunch, instead I got soggy, stale, rubbery, tasteless food. We ordered the pupu platter for two. Very little food-2 wings, beef terriyaki, crab rangoons, spare ribs, and egg rolls. The wings were the only thing that was good. the crab Rangoon filling was excellent but the shell was stale and rubbery (like it was already cooked and then reheated/microwaved). We also ordered fried dumplings-those were bland, tasteless and rubbery (like they were already made/reheated/microwaved) as well. Disappointing.

Spicy tuna and Boston roll. Not fresh, poor quality.

Low quality! How are people giving this place high reviews. None of the food was fresh and it was easy to tell the quality of the food was poor. My takeout order was some of their lunch specials. I got their Spicy Tuna and Boston roll. (2 for $13). Neither had much taste and the color of each roll was dull. It came with a salad and soup, but both were pathetic. The salad was a tiny amount of old iceberg lettuce, an old tomato wedge and the soup was just broth, which had okay flavor. Then I ordered the General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice. ($9.10). This was pretty good. The chicken was coated in a tasty sauce and the rice was pretty good, nothing crazy. However, the chicken pieces were dark meat, no pieces were very juicy and some were tough. Possibly frozen before. They probably bought the chicken at a crappy wholesale store like Restaurant Depot. I had abnormal gas and my stomach was a little upset after eating this food split between 2 meals. Best to avoid eating here.

one of the best places for an inexpensive but always delicious sushi fix! this is the only place we order sushi from and it's a huge bonus that they're less than 5 min away from us. i'm pretty sure we order from them at least once a month, sometimes more! they offer 50% off their rolls which is a literally the best thing ever and it's a huge part of why we keep going back. we did notice that they upped their prices recently but it's understandable given the circumstances of covid and all. what we've had so far and absolutely love! spicy salmon spicy tuna salmon skin mango tango roll pk roll sexy girl roll king roll happy roll salmon sashimi octopus sashimi eel sushi crab rangoon nime chow boneless ribs combo (their boneless rib lunch is also bomb) basically you can't go wrong with what you order

The sushi is pretty good, with alright freshness. Prices are great! The place looks pretty uninviting. When the front of the house is dirty, it makes me worry about the back of the house. Event when I order ahead (and I order online only) - I always have to wait. They forget about the receipts from the online orders. The front person is always on her cell, texting or talking. Sometimes I just wait for her to be off the cell to ask about my order. And then, she grabs the slip and they just start to make it. They've also forget items - so check your order before driving off. There is no dining inside. It's strictly take out. But, it is nice to have a sushi joint in the neighborhood. And, when they do pay attention to you - they are nice. I will continue to go probably, but three stars is the highest I would rate it.

Philadelphia roll with no rice. Low carb option!!

Love the spicy scallop roll/spicy lobster roll! Yummm! Wish you add that to the lunch menu!! It's like .25 cents or .50 cents more so just charge the difference of the roll. Only thing is the specialty rolls you say are $23!!! And have off! No way that's $23! Even Jackie's waterfront there sushi is $35 but that's for like 24 pieces!! I don't know you say 50% off sushi but not really cause you are jacking up the prices. Those rolls should be like $15-$17 a roll!!! No way $23!! Just go to Jackie's get 24 pieces for $35! You guys should review that!!!! Love the nim chow just wish you guys had a thicker peanut sauce and crab Rangoon WAY to sweet! Need to make more savory that sweet.

My bf had the duck ramen which he really enjoyed and devoured, said wished there were more ramen in it tho which means he def wanted more lol. We had the gyoza app which was standard, wasn't a huge fan of the tangy sauce and chili oil. Maybe an additional sauce option offering would be nice? A cool thing they have is the blooming jasmine tea which the server told us was imported from Japan. Was very strong which shows the quality. Had a pink mocktail which was too tangy for my taste. Overall, boyfriend and I agreed would come here again.

It is small on the inside, but there are plenty of tables and there's a sushi station, where you can watch them make the rolls right in front of you. We got seated next to a wall, so it felt semiprivate. My friend did warn me the food takes a while to come out, so I placed my full order all at once. For sushi, my friend and I ordered the Tempura (8 pieces), Yam Roll (8 pieces), and Umeshiso (6 pieces). We also shared the Shrimp Yakisoba. The sushi came out after about 25 minutes and the noodles about 15 minutes after. The sushi pieces were a lot smaller than what I am used to, but I really appreciated that the ratios were still right and I didn't have to break a jaw to get it into my mouth. The shrimp tempura was the one I was most familiar with and it was very tasty. The yam roll was delicious and almost tasted like a French fry. The Umeshiso was unique. It was very salty and limey with a subtle mint flavor and a sweet after taste from the plum paste. The shrimp yakisoba was incredible. It was very flavorful; the noodles were perfectly cooked, there were lots of fresh vegetables, and about 4 big and juicy shrimp. I enjoyed my time here. Although service is slow, the staff was very attentive, and it felt nice to slow things down.

As one of the highest rated sushi bars in Providence I have to say I was very disappointed to say the least. The quality of the fish and rice was that of which you would find at most any sushi restaurant, overly saturated fish lacking in texture. Hard stiff sushi rice laking texture and flavor used for the nigiri (possibly due to the quality of fish on top). This was also a first time for me finding a bone in the sashimi or receiving Kani as part of a house sashimi. They also had Maine Uni available, the portion of Uni was the smallest I have ever received just 3-4 gonads atop very stale rice wrapped in a nori paper which all completely overtook the flavor of the Uni its self. As a whole I would judge Ran Zan as a baseline sushi restaurant by western standards for the quality of its ingredients and the quality put into the preparation and presentation of its dishes. 4.8/10 if you want sushi go to your local spot or look further for the real high quality sushi restaurants/bars Providence HAS to have better to offer.

I've been coming to Haruki East for at least 15 years, which is probably the strongest endorsement…read moreI can give any restaurant. In a state with no shortage of sushi options, this has remained my go-to spot year after year. At this point, I think I've tried either everything on the menu or come pretty close to it. That's what happens when you keep returning to the same place for over a decade. The reason I keep coming back is simple: consistency. The fish is always fresh, the sushi is well prepared, and the food is reliably good. If I order something cooked, it arrives hot and exactly as expected. There are restaurants where you're rolling the dice every visit. Haruki East has never felt like one of them. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to. The location is convenient, and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. That's become increasingly rare these days. The only reason I'm stopping at four stars instead of five is the service. While I've never had a genuinely bad experience here, the last few visits have been noticeably slower than I remember. Service has also felt a bit inattentive at times, and these weren't during packed dinner rushes or busy weekend nights. Nothing terrible, just enough that I found myself waiting longer than expected for drinks, check-ins, or the bill. That said, the food continues to be excellent, and that's ultimately why I keep coming back. After 15 years, Haruki East has earned a level of trust that few restaurants achieve. When I'm craving sushi, this is still the place I think of first. The occasional service hiccup hasn't been enough to change that. If you're looking for fresh fish, a broad menu, reasonable prices, and a restaurant with a long track record of getting the important things right, Haruki East remains one of the best choices in Rhode Island.

With a 4.6 rating, we were genuinely excited to try it. Walking in, first impressions were great. The inside of the restaurant was super cute, the artwork was beautifully done, and the initial greeting was welcoming. Unfortunately, things started going downhill pretty quickly after that. We had a few questions about the menu, but the hostess seemed confused and didn't really understand what we were asking, so we ultimately just gave up and ordered what sounded good. Food-wise, it was very mixed. The sushi roll was phenomenal...genuinely the best part of the experience, and my son absolutely loved his. The shrimp udon was okay, but the portion was noticeably smaller than what most sushi places serve. The salmon poke bowl was very basic and honestly underwhelming. I also asked for spicy mayo, which was never brought out. The biggest disappointment was the service. Paying $4 for a canned soda with no refills already felt excessive, but when my son accidentally spilled it, we cleaned it up immediately ourselves. No one offered extra napkins, replaced the plate, or even asked if we wanted another drink. It just felt inattentive from start to finish. To make matters worse, one staff member was sitting at the bar listening to something loudly on a laptop, which completely took away from the atmosphere and felt unprofessional. As someone who used to waitress, I understand the service industry and I'm usually a generous tipper. But I also believe tips reflect service, and unfortunately this experience missed the mark. After picking up our receipt, the hostess was visibly unhappy with the tip amount and had no issue making that clear which only reinforced the poor experience. I very rarely leave one-star reviews, but for a place with a 4.6 star reputation and "top-rated" marketing, this was incredibly disappointing. Cute atmosphere and one great sushi roll aside, the service and overall experience were just not what we expected.

I walked into a space that is small and moody, the kind of room that feels lived in rather than designed for a particular aesthetic, and it suited the casual neighborhood feel of the surrounding area. The hot stone bibimbap is the dish that comes up most consistently and with the most enthusiasm. I ordered it and the stone bowl arrived sizzling. The rice along the bottom edges got crispy against the heat in a way that changed the texture and flavor of the whole dish as I ate through it. The beef and mushroom tofu versions are both well executed, and the egg on top finished the bowl correctly. The katsu is a solid option for anyone coming in looking for something more straightforward. I tried it and the breading was crispy while the cutlet inside stayed tender, and the sauce ratio was handled well rather than drowning what was underneath. The gyoza, japchae, seafood pancakes, and yaki soba fill out a menu that covers enough ground to satisfy a table with different preferences. Side dishes are served in modest portions, which was the main point of friction for me since I am used to more generous banchan. Food came out at a good pace and arrived hot. For Korean and Japanese comfort food in Providence, Den Den is a reliable and genuinely satisfying stop.
