Stopped in while on the road on our bikes. The place was hopping! The waitstaff were working hard, all with smiles and terrific service. The gentleman hosting (owner?) was fun, greeting locals and tourists with jokes and helping out with getting tables turned. The food was good, with an awesome menu. I'm envious of the folks in Limon who get to be regulars here. I've worked in food service, I don't remember ever being in a place where everyone had such great attitudes, even as busy as they were. Their classic take on the Reuben, the "Braveheart" explodes with flavor in the same fashion that Mel Gibson explodes with emotion at the end of the eponymous movie. From now on, I will always hear him screaming "Oscars!" instead of "Freedom!" in the climax of the movie. Great food, friendly service, and a whisky list a mile long. read more

Came off the road not many choices. food was decent if not good, along with friendly staff overall a good experience. The only real downside is with a 3% add on to any order if you pay with a card, it costing $2.99 to split a plate of food, and it being extra for most condiments that don't come already on the plate it just feels like a money grab. read more

We went there after a long drive to enjoy a meal and some wine. We were told a certain price for the glasses of wine and so we agreed to get them because we knew how much we could spend and yet give the waitress at least a 20% tip. When the check came the price was over 15% higher. We didn't want to give the waitress a cheap tip so we asked for them to check our bill. The 'manager' lady came out and made us feel like we were trying to pull a fast one. She stated that "no, that's not the price of our merlot" "the bill is correct". Well, isn't that the kick in the buttocks? Instead of correcting it for us and blessing their server, they threw their server under the bus and we felt like crap, and, we had to lesson our tip to match our budget. Spent the night in Limon Co. Hotel staff recommended Oscar's. Decor is old movie and movie star pictures. The place was packed so had a wait to be seated. On our way home, This right-off-the-highway restaurant caught our eye. We noticed the decor first, with many early-1900s era movie theater equipment displayed throughout the restaurant. Our lunch was quite satisfying. My husband has the very generous Chicken Fried Steak with a heap of mashed potatoes and freshly-steamed vegetable medley which he was very happy with while I enjoyed the succulent All Quiet on the Western Front sandwich which was piled with pot roast and mashed potatoes and brown gravy. So very good! Our Friends ordered the Braveheart sandwich which she said was delicious and the Pot Roast with mashed potatoes and brown gravy which he was very happy with. The owner tried to sell him a NY STRIP for the price of a ribeye as if he didn't know the difference. Now, anyone that knows My Husband, KNOWS that he raised cows and has been a CHEF!!! The owner tried to convince him to the point that he took him to the back and pulled out his meat and literally tried to convince My Husband that he was served a ribeye and not a strip!!! The meat that he pulled out at first was still strip meat, Then he pulls out more meat that was actually ribeyes and when My husband advised him that this is not what he received, then the owner kicked him out!!! Went in on a Thursday night snd they were busy. Before we were seated the owner/manager came over and thanked us for dining with them. Due to the crowd size it took a while to get our order in and then even longer to get our food. Our waitress came out and asked if we had already eaten and were waiting for the check or if we never received or food? It was the latter. We were told that the kitchen would put a rush on it. Ultimately, that resulted in my wife's steak being charred to the point that was the flavor of the whole piece of meat. I order a Braveheart, which is a corned beef Reuben sandwich. Overall, a good dining experience and good food. I would recommend it and I would go back. The one caviot is I would not get the mushroom and swiss burger. The cheese tasted like American or velveeta and was orange. When I brought it to the waitress's attention she insisted it was swiss and she was sure (although she had not personally prepared the burger). Finally she explained it away by saying they bought cheap swiss cheese and that was why it tasted like velveeta. The rest of the burger was good, it just wasn't swiss. read more

Of the many items the waitress recommended, we ordered the tortellini with tomato cream sauce, the pot roast, and fries. Boy, she was right about the fries - super good! I really enjoyed my pasta and actually ate all of it. My husband liked his pot roast and finished his too :) Others have mentioned the salad bar and they're right - it's literally lettuce, tomatoes, croutons, and dressing. I laughed when I saw it and I'm glad I read about it before I decided to order it. I'd have been disappointed for sure! Good location and easy to find. There are not many restaurants in Limon...total of ~10...and I'm counting Subway, Pizza Hut, Arby's, McDonald's, and Wendy's. Oscar's is gotta be the best restaurant in town! When I worked in Limon for a month, I ate at Oscar's for every meal. I'm serious. For breakfast, I recommend their English muffins, because they have extra butter on them (that's probably why they are *so* good). For lunch, I like their French dip sandwich (very yummy prime rib). For dinner, I like their rib-eye steak (ubelievably good). They are located right off of I-70, so stop by for a meal if you are traveling in the eastern plains. They also have a full bar, and the bar tenders and servers are always super-friendly. But again, this is Limon, I didn't meet any monsters in this small town; they move to Denver. read more

There is nothing better on a freezing cold night than walking into a warm restaurant and having a nice steak in front of a beautiful fire. The fact that it was within walking distance of a truck-stop makes it THAT much better. Go here instead of Country Pride! The place was dark and romantic with your choice of left (dining area) and the right (bar area). The bar side usually had the game going and a pool table. If you're looking for a more quiet experience, definitely steer your family to the left. All of the menu items are in the form of movie titles, which I found different and neat! I ended up with the Beauty and the Beast which came with a 6 ounce steak, loaded baked potatoes and the soup and salad bar. The steak was terrific. It was so tender and juicy. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. My loaded baked potatoes were excellent but really needed more cheese and salt. My husband had the lobster pasta. I cannot remember the name but he devoured it and wanted seconds! I loved the beer list! My husband hates walking into a "bar" and having to order Buttweiser. (See what I did there?). They had a nice selection of local beers. For all of you non-drinkers such as myself, get yourself a Shirley Temple....extra cherries! My main reason for removing one star was the salad bar. Where were the toppings? That place was like a dive bar on a Tuesday. Empty! The salad was also old and I had to pick out the brown pieces. A nice change from the fast food chains that you find off of I-70. It was clean, the food was pretty good and service good. Not too pricy either. I had the meatloaf which I enjoyed and my hubby had the fried chicken. It looked a lite greasy too me but he said it was ok. Thought it may have been frozen. We had the salad bar which had fresh vegetables, my only complaint really it that all it had was lettuce, tomato, cucumber, shredded cheese and croutons. I'm giving them five stars because they nailed the rib eye steak. Being on the road and eating can be risky, but I would stop here again. The group of patrons outside had entertaining tales of catching crocodiles and the wounds that come with the experience. Fortunately the one that bit the guy was only a four footer. And he was about eleven years old. Now, I'm no croc hunter, but I'd say even a four footer would have a mean bite. Unfortunately I didn't get a beer menu, but that was fine because I was entertained otherwise. The steak was seriously good though. Medium rare was done properly. The baked potato fully loaded was a good choice; a little too much butter for my preference, but I was able to ditch one of the dollops and enjoy the spud regardless. Pulled off the 70 for gas and were really glad we did when we found this spot. Mark, the owner/manager greeted us warmly and treated us more like family than first time customers. The movie decor is a really fun theme. It's everywhere, so take a look around. The menu also uses movie names to describe the food. My wife got a full plate of fried shrimp with the "Bubba Gump", and I got two beef cutlets with the Chicken fried steak. Our server, Mckenzie, was terrific: hospitable, checked on us, and good on refilling drinks. The bar and restaurant are on separate sides, and the bar has a pool table. Passed through Limon on a weekend drive out of Denver and visited Oscar's for lunch. The service was excellent! We shared a Reuben, mozzarella sticks, and a dinner salad. The marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks was really good, and the fries with the sandwich were crispy! The dinner salad is technically a salad bar, but it only has the most basic five topping options. Would be nice if they had a couple more choices, but what they had was fresh and tasted great. They have a good selection of bottled beers, but nothing on draft. Cute decor, and everything was clean, including the restrooms.
