Luckily... we landed at Oscar's Bar & Grill in Limon--and this turned out to be one of those "right place, right time" kind of stops. From the outside, it's a classic roadside bar & grill, but once you step inside, it's got personality--movie memorabilia, neon lights, pool table, and that relaxed, local hangout vibe. The kind of place where you just know you're going to get a solid meal. We weren't looking for anything heavy--just something good--and the $9.99 burger special caught our attention right away. Enter Sherry--our server--and she absolutely made the experience. Friendly, engaging, and confident in her recommendations (always a good sign). She pointed me straight to the Texas BBQ Burger, and that was the move. Smoky, slightly sweet BBQ sauce (house-made and legit) Crispy onion rings stacked right on top Juicy burger cooked just right That first bite told me everything I needed to know--this place knows what it's doing. I paired it with coleslaw, which was surprisingly solid--fresh, not overdressed, and a nice balance to the richness of the burger. We passed on appetizers and dessert this time, but based on the menu (and Sherry's confidence), there's definitely more here worth exploring. Bottom line: If you're rolling through Limon--especially on a holiday when options are slim--Oscar's is a no-brainer. Great service, good food, fair prices, and a welcoming local vibe. Passing through again, stopped for another delicious lunch. I enjoyed the Slopper again and my husband had the Sundance Brisket Burger. Rarely do I receive a burger that is not closer to medium well. These burgers were closer to medium rare- our preference. Big, juicy and charred to perfection. Our server was attentive and friendly, bringing another round of drinks before asking. This place is super unique. All the famous stars from way back when and other memorabilia all Over the walls. However, I would have loved to see a more diverse representation of the actors and actresses. Bathrooms were clean. Food was delicious. Servers and staff were very attentive and professional. This was our 2nd time eating here as we passed through for a conference. The first experience was absolutely lovely! Good food and service. Our 2nd stop in was such a disappointment. The food was very good but the way the server treated us was unacceptable. We ordered waters as we were driving through (responsible) and that seemed to have started the service going down hill. The server acted annoyed. We then ordered sandwiches. Again the server acted annoyed as if that would change her tip with us not spending more on one of their more elaborate meals. Again, all the food we have tried has been amazing. She never came back with water refills and when she did return it was with check in hand and hurried attitude. We politely paid and left a very generous tip as this was our purpose that meal, brighten someone's day. Seated quickly but literally by the entry door even though there were plenty of empty tables. Our waitress was amazing! She was so quick with drinks and had refills ready before our drink was empty! It was an old small town diner. I don't understand these raving reviews? The hamburger was fair at best, and the club sandwich was mainly lettuce. Hardly any bacon, turkey, or cheese. Similar to what I've warned in previous reviews, Oscar's can get REAL busy. So if your pulling in off the Interstate during lunch or dinner hrs., don't be surprised if you have to wait a few minutes for a table. Thus place is AWESOME. The menu can be found online, and if you think it's just another burger joint, think again. My wife ordered the Texas BBQ Burger, and I had the Hello Lucy "The Cubano." Both sandwiches were excellent, with my wife saying that hers could have been the best sandwich EVER, and we travel lots. My sandwich was also great, with just the right amount of Dijon, ham, and pulled pork. McKinzie, or server was spot on with promptness, a great attitude (even tho the place was packed) and stopping by to see how our meals were. Here it is folks. Like I said, the place was packed and we travel lots. We believe the condition of restrooms are as important as the food. Oscar's didn't disappoint. Great job, Oscar's. Bottom line? 5 stars. The FOH has it goin' on! Excellent, neighborly service, clean restaurant, very clean restrooms, fun movie themed decor. This is obviously someone's labor of love. Yes, the loud "new country" music is an abject horror and should be considered a form of torture, but hey, if SOMETHING wasn't wrong, at a truck stop in Limon, CO, I'd be VERY suspicious... If they ever step up the food game to match the excellence up front, this joint will be legendary. As it is, it's hit-and miss, exactly as the reviews would suggest. My pot roast was just as good as the server said, while my wife's burger and the bacon on it were overcooked, despite being ordered medium. The water is hideous (if not downright dangerous) here, so order soda with lime for refreshment. They have a bar but no cocktail program, and no tap beer, just bottles. But the selections are food-friendly, and worth a look. This place could be as epic and legendary as the stars and athletes whose photos grace the walls here, if they play to their strengths, hone the menu to what they do best, get a cocktail menu happening and quit trying to please everyone with food they're not good at making. They've already got an FOH most owners/managers would give a limb for. Advice to the management: hire and keep a good BOH staff and a knowledgeable barkeep. Don't skimp. Recommended. read more

The food was terrific--appetizers were shareable portions, hot and yummy -- spaghetti portion was generous and served with big toasty garlic bread, open faced Roast beef sandwich was delicious and tender and welcomed this southerner back to the north. We were seated promptly -- 4 teenagers, 2 adults and my large service dog. Drinks came out right way. Stopped in after a long trip from Pennsylvania and our bartender was an absolute angel. She put on the padres game for us, and allowed me to move seats when I was uncomfortable with one of the bar guests. When asked for food reccomendations she suggested the American beauty which was not only delicious but a gracious portion size. My boyfriend enjoyed the big easy pasta for himself and I indulged in a few bites which were amazing. I could not speak higher about this spot.
