I had some Rattan Patio Furniture that was looking in bad shape. My dog had decided to make my couch and my chairs his new beds. He basically made holes in the cushions, and had ripped most of the upholstery. I arrived at Oscar's with 4 seat cushions, 4 backs and 2 head rests. Ricardo was the upholsterer on Duty. He was very helpful with telling me that I needed new cushions, new fabric, and new zippers for all my cushions. He told me I could pick from all the fabrics they had there left over from previous jobs. I didn't like any of the ones they had there, so he told me of a couple of places I could go find some. After going to 2 fabric stores, I finally decided to go to UFO. There, I purchased a nice fabric that I liked, and took it to Ricardo. He called me 2 days later to tell me that my cushions were ready. Ricardo finished the whole job in 1 day. I was really pleased with the results, and him quickly getting the job done. I also didn't pay a lot of $$$$ to get them looking like new again. I would recommend Oscar's to anyone wanting to re-upholster. read more

Oscar is talented. I loved my furniture pieces but was tired of the fabrics so I searched out for someone to change the fabric and came upon him. He has made slip covers and upholstered most every piece imaginable in my home. His work is amazing as I have had pieces upholstered in the past and they did not come out quite as good. I am a Real Estate agent in the San Diego metro area and sometimes use some of the pieces that he has transformed on clients homes when we prepare them to go on to the market. Walked in one afternoon after reading reviews on Yelp- had a minor couch cushion repair needed (dog popped tufted buttons off back cushion of couch- needed new buttons covered & then re-'tufted' (?) onto cushion. It was a small job- but one that I figured would be better done by people with better sewing & knot tying skills than I. Had some issues communicating what I needed (worker at the time spoke broken english (but better than my spanish)- but its not really a 'walk-in' kind of business- I should have just called), but Oscar called me & we got it worked out. He had it fixed within 1 day of speaking to him, it looked factory-new, and he charged me just pennies. I appreciate the work they did- they were quick, honest & great quality. I came to Oscar because I wanted to have slipcovers made for my large sectional couch due to my pet allergies. I was very happy with the quality fabric I was able to purchase. Even though my couch is large and presented some challenges, Oscar did an amazing job! My sectional really brightens the room now. I've washed it and because Oscar pre-shrunk the fabric, it still looks and fits like brand new. He and his team really put their heart into what they do and it shows in their work. I'm so happy. Had Oscar make some custom seat cushions for an outdoor furniture set. All in all great experience. Oscar was super accommodating and let me take home fabric book to make sure the swatch I selected matched our outdoor rug. Oscar just completed a very complicated cover on a large outdoor custom cooking area with attached firepit in our backyard remodel, plus another cover on a triangular custom firepit in another spot. Both came out great. It took a lot of ingenuity. Oscar used combinations of lead weights, loops that connected, Velcro strips, and put in a opening in the cover that we can lift up if we want, so we could still use the barbeque without having to remove the entire cover, then close it when we're done. The whole thing looks solid and smooth, and will protect our cooking appliances and granite. The firepit cover will keep the leaves and seeds out of it and is easily removed. He came over three times to measure and custom fit it. There were about 80 choices of fabrics. Am very impressed and will definitely keep his number in my contacts file for future use! read more

You are making a mistake if you don't go with Oscar's Upholstery. I checked around and he had the lowest price by far, and did a FANTASTIC job making cushion slipcovers for a very expensive custom-designed sofa. He found the perfect material to match the frame of the sofa within 5 minutes of my walking into his shop, too. He really knows what he is doing, and the slipcovers on the seat cushions fit perfectly. Excellent workmanship. The sofa looks like it is actually re-upholstered. Excellent customer service, too. I have never given a bad Yelp review and I've hesitated in writing this one since I know this is someone's livelihood, but my experience with Oscar at Oscar's Upholstery was shockingly bad. The actually work, (new foam for some large cushions), was done well, but the bad manners of the owner, Oscar, were such that I'd never go back. I won't go into the details of multiple phone calls just to get the job done, but what really shocked me was on the day I was told I could pick them up I called ahead and Oscar told me he was in the middle of watching sports on TV and wanted to eat his pizza and drink some beer so I'd have to wait 3 hours before I could come to the store. I told him that wouldn't work and we agreed I'd come 3 days later. Again he asked me to call in advance, which is weird since the shop is typically open and staffed by another person, but I did call at noon as agreed and again he said he was busy eating lunch and asked me to come over later. I told him that was ridiculous and that I was heading over and would be there in 15 minutes. When I arrived he chastised me for not letting him eat his lunch, then gave me a hard time because he wanted me to pay in cash. After I paid him I carried out the cushions (large sized, two loads to my car) and not only did he not assist me with carry out, but when I said thank you he ignored me completely. So, Oscar, enjoy your future slices of pizza and beer, but good luck keeping your business afloat with that kind of customer service. read more
