We booked Cottage 23 a YEAR in advance--for the summer of 2026-and then received an email saying our rental had been cancelled. When I called to ask why, the woman who answered came up with a series of vague reasons. First she said, "You booked for three nights. We only book full weeks"--I explained that we booked exactly the dates that were available on their calendar, but would love to stay longer. Then she said, "Well, it probably let you book but we allow our returning guests re-book and they probably wanted the time you booked." WTH? So you take other bookings (because it was clearly available on their site) and then if a returning guest wants to book the same time, you just boot the family that already booked? I asked about other dates and she said, "It's very hard to break in. We have a lot of returning families." She did not offer to look at their other locations, she did not offer to put us on a cancellation list, she did not offer to check for any other dates--she just said, "I'm sorry you are disappointed." By the way, there are STILL open dates on their calendar for Summer 2026 but I would strongly caution against booking here because they will just cancel and give it to someone else. I had tried to visit here for over two years, and had finally found some summer dates that were open. But we dodged a bullet if this is the way they welcome you--clearly, they do not want any new business, which is ironic because they are constantly posting about cancellations on their social media. I guess this is why people go to the west side of Michigan. If this "resort" is any indication, Lake Huron seems very unfriendly.

Our family books all 6 cabins. We arrived to a mess on the grounds left by the previous renters and there was only 1 cleaning person to handle 6 cottages in 3 hours. No special treatments done for COVID19 either. We booked cottage 2 but weren't told til we arrived that it was closed for the season for repairs. Had to take Cabin 1 - much smaller - and were lucky it was available! Dishes and utensils in complete disarray; some still dirty; some missing; random dishes left by previous tenants. 4 frying pans and one small pot with no lid for cookware. This resort was a gem when Sue, the manager was alive. It would be a shame for the owner to let it go. If things don't improve, we're heading someplace else next summer.

Upon checking in to the main office we were greeted by the owner who is a smoker. The small, cramped main office was hot, stuffy, and full of smoke. I couldn't stand in there for the 10 mins it took us to check in. When we reached our cabin, things were worse. The cabins are old, and outdated. All of the furniture, appliances, dishes, beds, bedding-all old and out of date. The dishes were dirty. There were no provided cleaning rags or dish soap. There were only two shower towels provided. The cabins smelled. It was nearly 100* outside and the two window units in the cabin were insufficient. Bugs all over the window sills and doors. Mold around and in the shower. The bed sagged horribly and we were afraid to even pull the comforter down to sleep in the bed. I have attached pictures. We loved the location, beach, and scenery. However, we would never return to this property!
