Having hardwood floors is wonderful except when they have to be refinished. We put it off as long as we could and then began our search. We vetted several companies and decided to go with ASA Flooring for several reasons: 1) Responsiveness. Bryan was quick to get back to my inquiry and was at the house to assess the project within a day. 2) Knowledgeable. Our refrigerator had leaked and warped several boards. Bryan explained the pros and cons of board replacement vs letting the boards dry out. We went with the latter and saved money. We had another challenge in the fact that we did not have two rooms refinished which meant seamless color matching. Alfredo was an artist and had an eye for selecting the perfect match. Although the final decision was ours, his experience was a definite help. 3) Efficient. The whole process from start to finish only took three days. We used the opportunity for a little vacation in the mountains and came home to beautiful floors! 4) Professional. These floors didn't look this good when my house was built in 1931! They look just stunning. We had the floors refinished but also new wood laced in to cover the no-longer used HVAC floor vents and for the most part you can't tell. We had a problem, that was not the crew's fault, when our fridge ice maker line leaked after the application of the first finish coat. They were great and got it taken care of, re-sanding and refinishing the affected areas. The only issue was communication, especially early on. Be sure to coordinate with the managers so that the plans have been communicated to the crew before the work starts, and stay in touch with the managers. Once I engaged with them it was quite responsive , and most importantly the work is fantastic. We will be enjoying these floors for decades. read more

ASA Flooring? More like OMG Flooring! Yes, I am a millennial who loves acronyms. We originally got 4 quotes to get our hardwood floors refinished. Our floors had some water marks, a candle burn and a few gaps in between the planks. They weren't terrible but it was quite a bit of an eye sore. Steve, the owner, was the one to come down for our free quote. The price was very competitive compared to the others which made us go with ASA Flooring. We were able to get scheduled within our move in date. Originally it was a Tuesday- Thursday/Friday long job. However they finished on Wednesday! I was worried they were just trying to rush our job but on Tuesday I went to go sign off for the stain and I was amazed by their speedy and beautiful work! I was already in awe of the sanded floors hahaha. Steve called the next day to see how I liked the water based stain as he was at the house checking up on the job. It was done a lot sooner, mainly because we chose a natural water based stain. He mentioned if it was a colored stain, it would've taken a day longer. Nice to know! They were also able to sand down the water marks and burn mark on the floors, where other companies were charging us to replace those planks. I called ASA Flooring after seeing all the wonderful reviews on Yelp. I was looking to get hickory flooring throughout my new home including the staircase. Steve was very knowledgeable and had many options for us to review as far as wood options, finishes, and final touches to make sure our needs were met and fell within our price range. I had called about 7 flooring companies before meeting Steve. Steve really made us feel comfortable in our decision to move forward with ASA. Our floors are beautiful! Nicolas was also very friendly and knowledgeable working with us on finishing touches like matching wooden vent covers that lay flush with the floors. There were also built-in shelving units in the closets which they were able to cut up to lay the wood under the built-ins. They removed my fridge and stove to install and seal wood underneath. When I had asked another company if they did this, they told us that would be considered an unfinished space and it would not be sealed. Nicolas's team of installers were also very friendly and accommodating any time we stopped by! You can tell they take pride in their work and have fun doing it! We were given an estimate on time to install and price. Both were fair, the install was completed in the time quoted. The estimate was firm, but I added a few extras at the last minute, like the vent covers which are beautiful. I'm so happy with ASA! FYI, ASA will remove and reinstall your baseboards too! Myself and another family member hired ASA to install hard wood floor in our houses. The company owners does not perform any quality assurance in the project. Bryan seems good person, however the only time you see him during estimate. The main entrance of our house final finish differs from the rest of the house. We have tried several times contacted the company to come and correct the issue, however the company seems subcontract out the work for undocumented unreliable small company. The company does not bear any responsibility for the project, they are collecting money. I would not recommend to hire this company, for the reasoning not having quality assurance and followup with their customers for any difficiency or satsisfaction of their customers. PROS -Good quality installation. I was not happy with the wood or the stain, but the joints are tight, and it is reasonably smooth. -Carpet removal and R&R was well-done. They went above the call of duty to cut our existing baseboards at an angle to prevent a gap due to the difference in old carpet height vs. new hardwood height. Note they do nothing to prepare your sub-floor, so plan accordingly to allow for time to inspect and repair it yourself if creaking and soft spots are important to you. -There was a lot of fine sawdust in the area they worked, as well as the two closest rooms to the work sites--but they did make an effort with hanging plastic, and they cleaned up better than some other contractors I've worked with. -Workers on the job were nice. CONS -The hardwood boards are very short. I'm guessing their low prices are because they're installing practically scrap wood. I was told there would be a "variety of lengths", but was not prepared for how short the wood would be. I truly didn't think a reputable company would use something so insulting. When asked if we could have longer boards after seeing what was going to be used, the price went up astronomically! In the picture attached, there are 6 boards in a 72" span. It looks very low quality. -The stain sample looked nothing like what we got. The picture attached was taken in the same area, with the same light, with the same camera. When we brought it to their attention, the team remained mostly professional, with the exception of Steve losing his temper once, but later calling us back. The only solution was to re-sand the floor and start over. They also delayed a day before telling us a layer of polyurethane had already been applied (even though they knew we were unhappy with the color) and nothing else could be done at that point. This would have delayed us by about a week, and would have left my living room and dining room unusable through the entire Christmas holiday, and I couldn't even open my front door and had to enter through the garage due to furniture placement (this was the only company I got a quote from who didn't offer furniture moving). I also didn't want to make his workers work that much extra, and felt that I was being very reasonable by living with this color that was not even close to what we had chosen. I assumed we would have been compensated for this, but was given the full bill when all was said and done. When I brought it to his attention, I was offered a mere $249 off. If I had known that was all he would be willing to offer, I would have gotten what I asked for. Another lesson learned--being nice doesn't get you anything in this Denver construction market! -Poor communication between the owner (who is very involved with the business, a plus) and on the "on the ground" team. 1. Wood was delivered to a different location in the house than discussed. They agreed to move it when I brought it to their attention, but "really didn't want to", which guilted me into letting it stay in the way in the other room. 2. They also left the door to the garage open even though there was a sign on it that said "Please close door. Do not let dog out". I hate to think of what could have happened if our pup would have gotten out. 3. The owner told my husband we could have the carpet pulled up on a Friday so he would have time to prep the subfloor. Nicholas, our contact point hadn't heard anything about that when I spoke with him, and couldn't get it done until Monday. This meant he had to take a half day at work to come home in the middle of the day to do it. Our floors look okay, but I won't be hiring them to do the other living room as I had originally planned. As a first time home buyer, we had no idea what we were getting into when we bought our fixer upper. Getting the floors professionally installed, and refinishing existing hardwood so it all matched seemed like the best option given our 1 month turn around before we had to move in. I received quotes from several other flooring contractors, all of whom wanted to completely remove our old hardwood and install either prefinished or engineered hardwood at a ridiculous price. After reading online reviews, I called ASA in desperation. Steve came out the same day, and we had unfinished hardwood installed, and sanded and stained within 2 weeks of the initial consult, for literally $1000 less than the other quotes. In response to the owners comments below, I really don't appreciate excuses, passing blame, and throwing other people under the bus for your own crappy work. The owner wants to blame my contractor and project manager for this. Pretty sure my contractor's work on the house was flawless. Steve - don't bother contacting me again. I found it very unprofessional of you to contact one of the people that worked on our house to get my personal number in the first place, when I didn't respond to your excuses on my google review. --------------------------------------- If I could give 0 stars I would. We remodeled our entire home and the work they did on our brand new hardwood floors is appalling. They redid them 3 times. The first time they did such a bad job, bubbles all over the floor. The tried an easy fix, but refused to take the advice of our contractor and consequently had to sand off all 3 finishes down to the base. It completely ruined our floors. We didn't realize just how bad the floor was, after the 3rd time redoing it, until we moved back in. The stain is not all the way to the walls and our brand new floors look dirty, dull, and have scratches embedded in the wood everywhere. The owner Steve did not want to even fix it the first time. He screamed and cussed at our contractor claiming the floor didn't look that bad, when even his foreman said it was the worst job he'd ever seen. So now we have to live with ruined hardwood floors until we save to have them redone by a company that isn't totally incompetent. read more
