And if you are use to cruising around inland lakes, Winnebago will take the cake. Because of its vast size, the wind and consequent waves can be wicked. I recommend that if you are prone to sea-sickness and going out on the water, you need to bring favorite motion sickness medication as a precaution. Winnebago is a shallow lake, so be mindful of your boat prop position. This is a great lake for tubing, water skiing, and fishing. There are multiple parks along the banks. The boat launch located in North Fond Du Lac is awesome with 5 slots and it is easy to get your boat in and out and park for only a few dollars. There is plentiful wildlife and birds to watch. Seeing the pelicans fly over the lake is an amazing experience. Speaking for experience, I don't recommend staying on the water after sunset. It is very, very dark. And extremely difficult to find that inlet that leads to the North Fond Du Lac boat launch.... I've always had fun, memorable experiences the few times I have visited and highly recommend boating on Winnebago in the WI summer. I hope to do some fishing next summer so I can share my experiences in an updated review.

What a great spot if you are tenting it.. You have the lake as your window view, awesome!! If you are into fishing, this is a great place for it. They have a cleaning station for the fish, and a boat dock that charges $5 for it. And if you like to stargaze, it's also a place for you.. This is a dog friendly place, and must be leashed at all times. For those of you that don't know the rules about picking up after your dog by now, get a clue!!! I don't like stepping in crap. Even more impressive was his energy and effort in constantly searching the lake for a better location and better bite. Under some adverse conditions on Day 2, he even had us out on 3 different lakes looking for fish which were being very tight-lipped that day. He uses only top-notch equipment and the latest in ice fishing technology. His fee is reasonable and even includes a fresh cooked hot lunch on the ice (for full day trips) which we really enjoyed.

We are 6 adults, and four little girls ages 5-7 We range from beginner to experienced with kayaking. Just before we went out, the weather changed so we came back in after half an hour. We ate in the restaurant while it poured, and then went back out for another 90 minutes. We got out on sand bars to visit and play. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. A staff member provides a comprehensive review of the boat and it's features, and then you are free to cruise the blue-green waters of the Chain O' Lakes all day. The pontoon (20' Hydrotherapy) was clean and comfortable, the canopy kept us shaded when the sun was hot, you have swim stairs in case you want to stop at a sandbar and cool off, and there were no issues at all with the motor. Plus they give you a map showing the lakes in the chain, detailing which ones are no-wake so the day was relaxing and trouble-free from start to finish.
