    Mussels and clams

This place was amazing, food and service. Husband and wife shop that cooks a home cooked Venetian meal for a great price. We started with a clam and mussels as appetizer and it was very generous portion. Then with a squid ink pasta, risotto for 2, and scallop pasta. Added a side of grilled veggies. Everything was great but I would pass on the risotto next time to try other items. My favorite was the scallop pasta infused in rich flavors. This place gets busy and they have a few tables in door and outdoor. Very nice environment and a few wine options to choose from. ,

Hidden at the end of a narrow alley, this restaurant is certainly worth the extra few minutes spent finding it on a map! It had a very homey and cozy feel, with a cute courtyard. We sat outside and though it was a bit chilly, it was super quiet and romantic. We were the only patrons who spoke English in the restaurant, which made us feel like we were having an authentic Italian dining experience. Price was reasonable and portion sizes were generous. We liked every dish that we got. Even though we each ordered an appetizer and entrée, and a side of veggies, nothing was too heavy so we walked away feeling perfectly full. We highly recommend it if you want a 'local' experience.

Would highly recommend!!! Food was absolutely delicious and very fresh. I don't think there was a dish we ordered that we didn't love! Both the tuna and steak were very tender and cooked perfectly. In fact, the tuna steak was so good, we ordered a second one after. The tiramisu was heavenly and not too sweet which we loved. The place is very small and hidden but such cute decor and a great ambiance. It is run by just a husband and wife where the husband chefs and the wife serves. Both were extremely sweet people so if you're looking for a great small business to support, away from the tourists, please go here!!

Had a wonderful dinner without a reservation. It is a small little restaurant with wood beam ceiling and dolly lighting. The scallops & asparagus was great! And my husband had the Veal Stew very soulful food.

Was able to walk in and be seated without a reservation just after they opened for dinner. A cute little courtyard with string lights overhead for ambiance. I had a scallop dish with asparagus that was like nothing I had ever had before. Excellent service and meal. Not touristy at all, and found down a little side ally.

This place is so charming! Tucked away on a side street in Venice, they have this cozy patio with maybe 10 tables and beautiful flowers and shrubs hanging throughout. Very intimate and beautiful. The food is just as great as the ambience! We shared a couple of entrees, a white fish and spaghetti! So fresh and so flavorful and not too heavy. As far as drinks go, we had a bottle of Pinot Grigio for €25 and then finished with some limoncello, both the regular and the crema. They make their own homemade limoncello and you have to try it! We loved the crema the best! We also shared the panna cotta which was perfect - light and delicious.

This was a tasty dinner. They had a good house wine for €12. I had the scallop pasta. It was a big portion with lots of scallop and vegetables. It was excellent! I tried the tuna which was tasty and came with three huge pieces of tuna! I also sampled the steak with peppercorns sauce, also tasty. We finished off the meal with panna cotta with caramel sauce, very delicious! The waitress was very friendly. Definitely a great stop!

"Osteria Antico Giardinetto" is the place to go in Venezia for a truly wonderful meal and the authentic local experience! It is off the beaten path, but that is to be expected for a wonderful restaurant favored by locals. I would have never found the place on my own, but fortunately my wife's family is from Venezia. It is a quaint restaurant that is full of Venetian ambiance. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and they even have an English version of the menu! We enjoyed a full range of Venetian dishes from the appetizer of mixed raw fish (Assortito di Pesce Crudo); to primis of Tagliolini with scallops and asparagus (Tagliolini con cape Sante e Asparagi), pumpkin gnocchi with scampi and rocket (Gnocchetti di zucca com Scampi e Rocket); secondi of tuna steak with balsamic vinegar (Tagliata di Tonno alla' Aceto Balsamico), Gilthead Seabream with Fresh Orange Sauce (Suprema di Orata All' Aracia). I can proudly say I managed to convince the party I was with to get a sample of all their dishes, and they were AMAZING! We rounded out our dinner with desserts of panna cotta with strawberries, and a classic Tiramisu. Hands down the best panna cotta I've ever tasted. They do charge a coperto of €3 per person. After dinner we were offered a complementary glass of Lemoncello crema. Between the multiple bottles of prosecco and the lemoncello digestivo, I appreciated that there is no driving in Venice! Seek this place out if you truly want a great Venetian meal!

A combination of a thunderstorm and an early dinner meant the place was empty, but Marco and other staff welcomed us warmly all the same. We had the antipasti Parmigiana Di Melanzane (fried eggplant with cheese) and enjoyed the mains Pasta Al Forno (baked pasta with beef and peas), Pasta Con Le Polpette E Salsa Di Pomodoro (spaghetti with meatballs - not pictured), and Turbante Di Pesce Spada "A Beccafico" (baked swordfish). These were also with the Casa Rosso wine and Birra Siciliana beer both blonde and red. All food was superb. The fried eggplant was flavorful and fresh, and the bread was crispy and savory. The baked pasta was rich, the spaghetti and meatballs were nostalgic, and the swordfish was delectable. Safe to say we all cleared our plates easily. We wish nothing but the very best for Marco and his restaurant. This food was some of the best we had on our two week stay throughout Italy. The atmosphere, staff, and of course the amazing food made for a great experience that we would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced homestyle Sicilian meal.

For dinner in peak season, try to make a reservation as the restaurant is very small. We arrived before our reservation time and were seated immediately inside and greeted warmly by the restaurant owner. We ordered a bottle of wine to start (most under 20 Euros for a 75 ML bottle). For appetizers we ordered the cheese with honey for 13 Euros, absolutely amazing! We also combined this with the local olive oil and fresh bread brought to the table to start as well. For our second course we chose two pastas, the Penne Alla Amatriciana (I think it was around 12 Euros), and the Spaghetti Alla Carbonara (I think it was around 12 Euros as well). Both had extremely fresh homemade ingredients and were out of this world and extreme attention to care in the preparation. For our entree we split the breaded pork chop (I think it was around 20 Euros), including a side of potatoes (similar to the steak fries that you would see in the U.S.) The service was absolutely amazing and we loved dining alongside the owner and his family and meeting the cat that also lives at the restaurant and comes by to greet you during the meal as well. It truly was like you were dining at the home of the owner and is a must try if you are in Venice!
