Somehow this fine restaurant located near the Spanish Steps and Piazza Spagna has missed being reviewed on Yelp. We were staying nearby and roamed the many restaurants lining the nearby streets finding mostly indifferent tourist spots. We finally decided on this spot not only because it seemed prosperous, but because all the customers seemed happy.
And after a few minutes here, we to were looking happy. We were welcomed and offered a nice table outside. We had asked our young waiter for a winner recommendation and he suggested a moderate red from a nearby vineyard which was a knockout. It and an amuse bouche of a crostini with scamoza and tomato arrived rapidly with the wine properly decanted for service. We started with a plate of cheeses, honey, and mostarda accompanied by a nice basket of assorted breads.
We each had a pasta dish. I had the Casio e pepe which was a fine example of its type. Perfect al dente pasta, with cheese, olive oil and pepper. Fabulous!
My wife had a farro pasta with tomatoes and basil which she rated highly. Our friend had a white veal pasta which was reported as being good.
We shared their house-made gelato crema. It was everything that gelato should be: silky, smooth, to not too cold, not too sweet, and very flavorful with vanilla. With our espressos they brought out a decorative lacquered box with three small cookies.
Great service, fine food, and attractive locations. With a try if you are in the area. read more
