The girlfriend and I decided to get dinner here, after spending the day in museums throughout Mexico City. This place is a bit small, but getting seating was no issue. We ordered some coffee while we waited for our main course. I ordered a plate of shrimp, as well as a pizza with shrimp and italian sausage. The girlfriend ordered a simple cheese pizza. The wait time was a bit longer than expected, but fortunately the wait was well worth it. We also got here in good time, as this place got busy shortly after they took our order. The shrimp plate was delicious, and the pizza was great. Seeing as we were pretty famished, I ate most of the pizza in that sitting. I had two cups of caffe americano afterward to ward off the itis. The place may be small, and the wait may be a little longer, but the food was decent and worth it. The staff is decent, and the place is kept clean and run well. read more

The food here was fantastic and packed with flavor. We ordered the burrata, camarón botanero (my favorite), tagliatelle pasta, and both the Margherita and Diavola pizzas. The ingredients were fresh and each dish had a lot of depth. The camarón botanero was my favorite. It was prepared with garlic, white wine, and spices, and was absolutely delicious. The hot honey on the Diavola pizza was rich and much spicier than I expected, which I loved. Most hot honey I've had leans more toward sweetness, but this one had the perfect spice level. The service was attentive, and since it was a particularly slow day, we were able to enjoy the beautiful weather and dine outside. We also had small chat with the chefs, who were having dinner after their shift, which made the experience feel even more personal and memorable. read more

What a wonderful treat this was, and another fabulous Italian restaurant in the Mexico City area. If I could teleport here on a regular basis for Italian food, besides Mexican food, I would. My husband and I enjoyed this restaurant for the pizza that we ordered. We were in the mood for pizza and found this place near our hotel, and decided to try it out. The reviews didn't lie. We had the sautéed garlic shrimp with cilantro and it was absolutely heaven! The combo pizza was what we were looking for, and couldn't have asked for better. The place had the best service. Even though were arrived here just an hour before they closed, it felt as if they treated us like they just opened their doors. The best part, not only was the food amazing, I really would say that this was one of the most affordable and tasty places we ate at in Mexico City. I was craving Italian and this place was the perfect stop for a relaxing dinner. The restaurant is small with limited indoor seating but several outdoor tables. The service was wonderful despite a bit of a language barrier (totally my fault but I appreciate both staff for their patience). The pizza Guanciale Champiñones is hands down the best pizza I've ever had in my life. You guys, I'm almost speechless! I'll forever think about this pizza and crave it. The pasta was perfectly al dente and so full of flavor. It's spicy and perfect. Incredible quality shrimp. Plump and juicy. Another dish I'll forever think about. The jamon pizza was also excellent. We ordered the hummus for an appetizer. Kinda different to be offered at an Italian restaurant, but it was delicious! Highly recommend! We ordered a couple pizzas and one of the pasta dishes. Everything was so tasty and fresh. The pasta sauce was excellent. The pizzas were soooo good! One pizza could probably feed 2 people. Excellent service and drinks completed the experience. I came to this small Italian restaurant with the family based upon the existing reviews, and it did not disappoint. We were seated quickly outside without a reservation. The menu was consise, but had options for everyone. Note: they speak English here which was helpful. We got bread and oil, grilled calamari in an orange sauce, meatballs, spaghetti and branzino (fish of the day). All were great and came out quickly. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Five of us went here on a Friday night. I found it thanks to 20 fellow Yelpers, who gave it an average of 4 stars. I was skeptical when we rolled up at 8:30 to an empty restaurant, but given that's an early dinner time in Mexico City, we rolled the dice and decided to stay. As with most dining experiences in Mexico, we were bombarded with multiple servers offering us drinks and dinner specials. They only had 5 bottles of wine, all of which were Italian. We tried two different ones and were happy with both. We split the fig and jamon serrano pizza, of which I ate about half. It was delicious and not the least bit greasy. The house salad (mixed organic greens, grilled tomatoes, balsamic and parmesan cheese) was simple, yet refreshing. I went with the risotto. The waiter warned me it would take 45 minutes, which I was more than happy to wait for knowing it would be made fresh and not re-heated. This risotto was one of the best I've had, in the unlikeliest of places. And I have eaten a LOT of risotto over my 33 years. Some others in the group got the spaghetti with shrimp. After being nice enough to share some of my risotto, they wish they had ordered what I ordered. I can't speak for the dessert since I couldn't leave any of that risotto unconsumed, not to mention my group forced me to eat half the pizza. The service was overwhelming like every place you go in this city, but it was excellent nevertheless. This place is very affordable. There's not a food item on the menu over $225 MXN (about $11 or $12 US). read more

This unassuming hole in the wall restaurant in Condesa has just amazing food. We said that after almost every bite. We started with a Caprese Salad - a mix of great mozzarella, tomatoes and a balsamic reduction. For mains we had two pastas, both of which were delicious. Finally - the Pizza. oh my gosh. short version: my 6 year old son said, "this was the best meal of our trip." Now that includes Oaxaca too, and yes he's 6...but honestly it hit ALL the right spots. The sausage pizza was perfection. The crust had those big burnt pockets of dough bubbles from the wood fire. Crispy yet chewy. Both kids devoured it. Yes. Oh and the lemonade we order for them was so fresh. You can tell it is homemade and not too sweet at all. Score. Now on to the grownups. Both pasta dishes we ordered were so delicious. And the arugula salad was the right complement and so refreshing. I know there are a ton of great restaurants here, but traveling with a 6 and 3 year old means we gotta include pizza in the mix and this was one place where EVERYone in the family was satisfied. What a gem Ostería 8 is. We dined on Good Friday and were so glad to find a place that was open on the holiday. We eat dinner early compared to the locals so we had the place to ourselves for almost the whole meal and then folks started showing up. The service was fantastic!! We wanted to converse with the staff about museums and local recommendations and they all gave thorough and excellent suggestions, especially Ricardo who wrote down a list for us. The owner Steve is so polite and knows many of his customers by name because they repeat their business. And I totally understand why. Every single item we ate and drank was superb. From the breadsticks to the complex sauces to the smooth wine. We will come back here every time we're in Mexico City. Fantastic place, highly recommend. Not touristy which is a bonus!! After spending most of the day at the Museo Nacional de Antropología with my wife and fourteen year old son, we were ready to relax with some comfort Italian food at a nearby restaurant in Roma. Ostería fit the bill perfectly. It is located in a nice spot in Roma Norte, the servers were friendly and attentive, the food was much better than we hoped/expected, and the price was reasonable. To be clear, this is not a fancy, white table cloth, dense wine menu, multi-course kind of Italian restaurant. Rather, it's a very small and relaxed place with a small wine list that focuses on preparing and serving fresh, quality food. I got the carbonara, which was excellent. My son got the spaghetti camarón fra diavalo, which he liked though he didn't realize it had shrimp, which he doesn't like. (He could have asked us!?!) My wife ordered the fettuccini cabra, which was literally the best fettuccini I've ever had. (I mooched several bites.) In short, we definitely recommend Ostería and would eat there again. Two notes: First, there is limited seating. We got seated right away on an early Tuesday evening (6:00pm) but I can imagine it may be tougher later and/or on the weekends. Second, the menu is small and the wine list is smaller. If you're looking to tuck into a dense menu and a long evening of multi-courses with lots of wine options, Ostería may not work for you. Otherwise, we think it would satisfy most appetites and wallets. read more

I live two blocks away so the location is great for me, but it's a bit off the beaten Condesa track. Convenient to the Metro:) Outdoor seating is almost always available, but it is very small so you may want to call ahead for parties over four or during peak times. Pretty good pizzas! We ordered the prawn, chorizo, prosciutto and Italian sausage pizzas half-half to take away. They were the classic Italian thin crust and pretty tasty. Beware they look very oily upon inspection but I didn't feel bad after eating them like you usually do with very greasy pizza. The prawn and the chorizo were my favourites. I was excited to try the prosciutto as it looks great, coming with figs and drizzled balsamic vinegar but for some reason the base on this pizza was denser than the others and for this reason it didn't meet my expectations. it is completely beyond me why this place is not more crowded that it is. We were a Mexico City for approximately 9 days and we ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to in Mexico City or anywhere else. The one problem I see with this restaurant is that it is rather small, with only about a table and a small wait staff. The manager is very attentive, and the service was impeccable. The pasta here is homemade and cooked perfectly every time. The first time we were here we had the spaghetti carbonara which was absolutely divine. The second time we had the fettuccine with Italian sausage which was probably the best concoction I have ever tasted. I'm so surprised that this place is does not attract a bigger crowd.we also ordered a pizza which was incredible. The mozzarella cheese was incredibly fresh, and the crust was cchewy and delicious. I have a recommend anyone who comes to Mexico City consider having the meals here. read more
