Regional Factory Parts & Service - Store front

    Regional Factory Parts & Service

I was really leery of Regional Factory Parts and Services because they have pretty bad reviews both…read morehere on Yelp and also on other reviewing platforms, but my husband and I needed a part for our refrigerator and there were only 3 vendors in all of Eastern Ontario that could get us that part. The other 2 vendors included a place half way to Montreal and when we Google Mapped it, it looked like some guy's barn and the other place was a business out of some guy's house in a really sketchy part of town, so we decided to take the chance on Regional Factory Parts and Services since they seemed the most reputable. We also noticed that the negative reviews were mostly for service and since we just needed the part and my husband was installing it himself (it was just a bracket for one of the shelves), it probably would be ok. So my husband called them and they took his order and said they would call when the part came in. Their estimate was 2-3 days. Four days later, my husband called to inquire and they said that the part came in. Uh ok, so why didn't you call us like you said you would, but whatever, I guess they know that we need them more than they need us. So we drove there and picked up the part. Easy-peasy. Neither the person on the phone, nor the person in the store were overtly rude, but they were gruff and will not be winning any customer service awards any time soon. The part was the correct part that we ordered. My husband installed it and everything was fine. It wasn't exactly inexpensive, but replacement parts are usually a rip off anyway. Anyway, if you need a part and you don't mind brusque service, this place will meet your needs. The place is in an industrial park. We went on a Saturday, so the parking lot was empty. Not sure if it's more crowded on a weekday.

This is a 'mixed feelings' review…read more I called Dale because of the few reviews I was able to find, his were quite good, focusing on honesty and not trying to sell you what you don't need. The one negative review discussed how he wasn't familiar with an appliance model but took a few days to come back and tell the caller - so they wasted time waiting for no purpose. I called Dale and explained our problem. He sounded a offended that we had first looked at resolving the problem ourselves. (Too bad - I have that right.) He wasn't familiar with the error code, or the model and said he would have to look into it, but it would be next week. Sure, fine. I waited. I waited one week. And then I called him back. He had no clue who I was. I re-explained everything to him again. Again - I got a sense that he was a bit miffed. I might be misinterpreting things. He ended up telling me he can't possibly fix the stove as the wiring could be all screwed up and he could spend hours on it and get nowhere, especially as the literature that came with the (20 year old) appliance was missing. I said "so what I'm hearing is you are not interested in doing this repair" to which he agreed. I said "thank you!" and hung up. By the way: I called another place that got good ratings, spoke to the guy for all of two minutes at which point he said "I can't help you, as based on what you've told me so far, you need to deal with an authorized warranty shop for that error. Some of the codes are proprietary". That two minute conversation was pleasant, without any tones of frustration in it and I was really happy with that repair shop! I've bookmarked their site as it is clearly a customer service oriented one and they will be the first place I call next time I need repair. I found the recommended warranty authorized shop and they are coming out in two days. So - at the end of this whole long store, here is my conclusion: Dale is honest but perhaps a bit disorganized. Perhaps his business has grown to the point where he needs help, I don't know. Dale may want to consider how he delivers his message. (It's ok to say you can't do the job - just do it quickly and with a smile. Alienating customers is always a no-no.) Will I return (i.e. - call him again): No. Will I recommend him: Unlikely

The only issue has been our experience with our Kitchen Aid induction cooktop. Thinking of buying one...? Please don't! Our 3-year old cooktop started beeping and shutting down. The Extended Warranty covered the part and after two tries the service contractor called Whirlpool (the granddaddy of all appliance companies!). They said the "part was no longer available!" They meant the Induction top board not the ubiquitous control board. As a result our Induction top/ stove is no longer reparable and is basically junkable! So we are looking to replace a 3 yo stove! So UA gets 5 stars, but Kitchen Aid gets 0! How to compute the review?

The appliance was delivered at 5.30am by a very intimidating man who refused to unpack it or lift it onto the kitchen counter. I am a 60+ year old woman and was alone in the house. His parting comment was thar he expected a positive review of the service. Universal Appliance was totally disinterested in my experience. 5.30am was dark (it was Winter), obviously, I was still in bed, clearly not expecting a delivery. I struggled to lift the appliance and had to ask a neighbour for help. Universal Appliance had said that instillation was covered by the additional cost but were dismissive of my experience. The experience was, quite frankly both disturbing and threatening. I have bought an Aga stove and the Sharp multi function microwave from this company. I will never patronize them again.
