Ran to Otters only because I was on my way to a football game and I was famished. I was craving fried chicken. The area I was in lacked fried chicken heavily. The Publix would be the closest thing to. So I used yelp to find Otters. This location has a lot of young people working in the establishment and it scared me initially. It actually turned my mom off to the point where she almost didn't want anything. Her and my daughter had tenders and I ordered the wings. And requested crispy. I was actually a little shocked. Even though the wings had freezer burnt markings, and were too large for my liking... the young men in the kitchen did exactly what I asked. Crispy was done to perfection I was pleased with that. However I probably won't order that again, I am intrigued to try the buffalo chicken dip next time I'm in the area. Looks like they offer fresh fried chips with the dip. I really hate to do this but the service level and the food quality has dropped so much I feel I must. We have been customer at Otters for almost 10 years now. Understanding the pandemic has made it challenging to hire quality labor we have excused a lot of things. Our last 2 visits we were serviced raw chicken and then last night cold wings. The labor in the kitchen seems to be more focused on social media than quality food. The manager has been there for a while and she handled the raw chicken but the cold wings last night was just the final straw. This place is usually better than all other chicken options close by but it has really fallen off. Sorry Otters team but when everything is focused again on the customer and quality food we might return but until then I wish you the best of luck. read more

Due to a hectic day and a last minute Dr's appt, I found myself on Largent Way at 4:30pm, SUPER hungry and realizing that I hadn't eaten since 9pm the day before. I was craving chicken salad, even drove to Major Q's - only to remember they're closed on Mondays! ARGH! I was greeted by a friendly teenager as soon as I hit the door. Didn't get name & it's not on the receipt. She had blonde or dark brown hair with a side braid I think. I asked to sample the chicken salad & another person, I believe the manager, got it for me. The chicken salad was 'okay.' It was Waldorf style - with fruit (cranberries) & nuts (almonds). My first / nibble impression - SUPER sweet - and I managed to get a burnt tasting almond sliver - which wasn't their fault cuz I'm pretty sure they're not roasting and slicing almonds (lol). My second nibble SUPER SUPER sweet. I mentioned to the cashier how sweet it was. She said, 'it's the honey.' Um. Okay. The chicken was tender and plentiful, but honey? No thanks. I ordered the (fried) chicken sandwich. I asked & was told me it would be ready in 10 mins. I got a cup of ice & went back to the car to wait. No stars lost for this part ************** While sampling salad & placing my order there were 3 Caucasian teenage girls sitting at the bar staring at me. They didn't appear to be eating or waiting on food. Just loitering. And when I walked over to get ice, these children continued to openly stare at me as I hobbled over to the machine. I felt like a celebrity. NOT. It was super annoying but I held my temper. I felt like I had been transported back in the Jim Crow era. Or who knows, maybe they were gawking at me cuz I'm so cute. Lol. And I had to loudly say Excuse me, then repeat myself loudly to get two young, blonde teenage girls to move away from the door so that I could exit and go back to my car to wait. *********** Anyhoo! As I made my way to the machine - I couldn't help but notice how delicious and appetizing the food on a nearby table looked. I was practically salivating. I went back inside at the 10 minute mark & my food was ready. The manager asked if I needed anything & was sweet enough to go grab mayo and knife for me (I'd overlooked them). I went to my car & got ready to tuck into my food. I was so disappointed when I opened my tray. Instead of hot, appetizing pixie crinkle cut fries. I had greasy, dark brown fries. See pics. I bit into one & it was cold. Sigh. I REALLY did not want to go back in there - with the Teenage Trio watching my every move, so I called & asked if they could prepare replacement fries. The cashier said she was pretty sure it would be fine, but she would confirm with the manager. She even told me she'd bring them out to the car - which I really appreciated. Next I took a bite of my sandwich. Blech! Pickle, when I'd asked for no pickle. I lifted my bun & removed them. I noted that even though the sandwich is comprised of a big fluffy Hawaiian bun, they'd only placed 2 modestly sized chicken tenders on it - so there was a huge gap between the two tenders. Three tenders would have easily fit on this bun & would have been more appropriate at this price point. The sandwich was also covered in shredded iceberg lettuce & diced tomatoes. I decided to go ahead & eat the sandwich versus waiting on the fries & letting it get cold. The tenders were good, but meager - so I was completely finished with that sandwich & contemplating just driving off when the manager finally came out with the new fries. I think, at this price point, they should be using 'real' lettuce - not iceberg and eating diced tomatoes on a sandwich is hard. The lettuce, tomatoes & even crumbs from the tenders were falling all over the place while I tried to eat. I was left with quite a mess when finished. See pics. Ultimately - the customer service was 5 stars. But the food was 1.5 - 2 stars. It seems like this might be one of those spots that gives you old or subpar stuff unless you dine in (we've all been there - they give take-away customers bad stuff because they know you're unlikely to drive all the way back to return it or complain) but I would never dine in because the vibe in there was a bit off due to the other customers. The chicken was good, but there wasn't enough it, they messed up my order (didn't omit pickles) & I paid extra for that subpar lettuce & tomato option. People are always comparing Otter's to Zaxby's so I'll do the same: For less than my meal here today - Zaxby's TLC combo offers a big meaty chicken breast filet, lettuce & tomato, a generous portion of crinkle fries AND a beverage. And I understand that a restaurant like Otter's has more overhead and operating costs (especially with an alcohol license) in general, than Zaxby's - but let's face it - the consumers just want good food at a good value! I wish them much success because the owner (based on Yelp responses) really seems to care about customer satisfaction - but I doubt I'll be back. read more

I'm an out of towner so this was my 1st time here. The restaurant is located in a very nice looking shopping center but the nice looks ends at the entrance. My first impression of the restaurant was that it was a place that would appeal to teenagers and young twenty-somethings. I ordered my 3 piece chicken tender meal at the counter. My dining companion ordered his 3 piece chicken tenders (no fries) right after me. My food came out within a reasonable time. His, however, came out about 10 to 15 minutes later than mine. Per your comment relative to not wanting to raise prices, you have already done that during the pandemic....significantly. I have a receipt from 2021 for the same meal that I got last week. Was approx $10 then, $13.99 now, plus your "inflation fee". And when you do drop the inflation fee, will it go to Zero? Inflation is always with us, but never seen inflation fees of 3%, etc. Also, I am to assume prices will not increase when the fee is dropped? It won't simply be embedded into your pricing? We really enjoy Otters. Their seating is a bit troublesome for a large family, but we can usually make it work. Outdoor seating is also available, so we usually choose that option if we aren't doing take out. Their tenders are consistently great. They have a great variety of sauces and dips. Their fries are the crinkle fries that are delicious. Their wings are usually undercooked-- but you can ask them to double or triple cook them to get them crispy. You have to order fried pickles! They're the best. Their salads are seasonally okay. They aren't great, but in the winter they aren't usually very edible. So avoid the salad in the winter. read more

I love Otter's. Firstly, the staff here is super friendly whether you are calling in an order or dining in. I've never had a bad service experience and the staff always sound pleasant and happy to assist you. In addition to good customer service, the food is yummy. This is my go to wing spot on a weekly basis. I typically get the same thing... A #7 wing box, 10 wings with fries, usually a mixture of sweet heat and lemon pepper for the flavor. The food is cooked fresh and usually pretty hot when I pick it up. The wings are a good size... Not too small nor grossly huge. Fries are crinkle cut, nothing to write home about but sufficient. I do love their ranch though... It goes great with the fries. If you're dining in there are TVs as the restaurant has a casual sports bar (but kid friendly) vibe. There is ample seating available. If you're looking for a diverse menu or a wide range of flavors, this is not the place for you. There are about 7 flavors and other than wings the menu is limited (tenders, wrap, sandwich). Even still I recommend it. By the way in all honesty I can't remember if I wrote this for the Dallas highway or Cobb parkway location but either way it wouldn't change. The only difference is the high volume of traffic and limited parking options at the Cobb parkway location. read more

Purchased on11/5/22 one Lil' O Box and Garden Sal w/Chicken the chicken and frys that come in the Lil' O box tasted dry and like the food was sitting awhile was one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. Over the past five years, Otter's has gone from the best chicken place ever, to "I'm not sure these tough, dry, over-battered, minuscule (and, to be fair, the tiny size was the best thing about them) fritters even contain chicken." Otter's tenders used to be generous, juicy, and well-seasoned, but they now taste more like day old, thin-spread roadkill (but less tasty). The service is fine, and the restaurant is always clean and well-stocked, but if you're looking for good--or even edible--food, save the gas. Our last order (picked up tonight) contained cold, hard, tasteless "chicken" tenders, and cold, unseasoned fries. Not sure what corners they've left to cut, but we won't be going back to find out. So I have no idea what happened at Otter's Chicken but their chicken is not good anymore. I ordered 25 lemon pepper chicken wings and unfortunately I had to cook them further in the oven when I got home. They were not crispy like they used to be. The skin was flaccid and visibly looked like they needed to be cooked 1-2 minutes longer. And on top of that, the chicken was very bland and the lemon pepper seasoning was hardly anywhere to be found. My first visit to Otter's a couple years ago was the best. Since then the chicken has been terrible. I decided to give them one more try, which I totally regret. At least now I know I will not be a returning customer. read more

Otter's is so good! It's like a better version of Zaxby's. I order their #2 and it's so filling. The only drawback is the saltiness, but that's a personal preference. My friends and I get together every week for a movie night, and we get Togo from list location multiple times a month. When we took the wings up front the cashier took them into the kitchen and showed them the wings. The kitchen staff who were kids were laughing. They have some of the best wings and fries I've ever had in my life! The wings are very big and they have different flavors to choose from. My favorite is to get a lemon pepper and teriyaki mix. I don't understand why we need a another sub-par chicken restaurant. We have Chic-Fil-A and Zaxby's and numerous of chicken wing ding places that do chicken BETTER than Otter's. Its menu is mainly chicken wings, tenders and sandwiches. One thing that Otter's does differently is alcohol. Beer to be specific. However, I just took a note to self and ordered to-go #7 with the robotic female at the counter. No smile. No greet. Just eyebrows that go up as to say, "What do you want?" or "Why are you here?". The #7 which consisted of 5 wings (lemon pepper) and fries. I also ordered the fried mushrooms. My order was based on the Yelp reviews. {sigh}. Everything was tasteless-the wings, the fries, the mushrooms. If it wasn't for the sauces ranch and otter sauce, it would have been a bust. The sauces tasted home-made. 2 stars- one for the availability of beer and one for the sauces. I may have given another star for the televisions for sports but, no. The wings were okay and didn't have tremendous flavor. The portions of food seemed a little small, and a group of high school kids were hanging around. The atmosphere was like a sports bar as expected and was reasonably clean. The extra sauces were in bigger than zaxbys sauces. A good thing about the wings is that they can split the wings up in different flavors in sizes bigger than 10 I think. There is a few options on the menu that is not available on a zaxbys menu.
