I LOVE THIS PLACE!! Wings are one of my favorite things to eat and so I have different places I tend to go to but lately, this has been the only place I've been going to. They have some of the best wings and fries I've ever had in my life! The wings are very big and they have different flavors to choose from. My favorite is to get a lemon pepper and teriyaki mix. I don't understand why we need a another sub-par chicken restaurant. We have Chic-Fil-A and Zaxby's and numerous of chicken wing ding places that do chicken BETTER than Otter's. Last Monday, I was in the area doing some Christmas shopping and was suddenly hungry. I did not want to go to a sit down resturant and did not want fast food. Otter's seem to fit the bill. Its menu is mainly chicken wings, tenders and sandwiches. One thing that Otter's does differently is alcohol. Beer to be specific. However, I just took a note to self and ordered to-go #7 with the robotic female at the counter. No smile. No greet. Just eyebrows that go up as to say, "What do you want?" or "Why are you here?". The #7 which consisted of 5 wings (lemon pepper) and fries. I also ordered the fried mushrooms. My order was based on the Yelp reviews. {sigh}. Everything was tasteless-the wings, the fries, the mushrooms. If it wasn't for the sauces ranch and otter sauce, it would have been a bust. The sauces tasted home-made. 2 stars- one for the availability of beer and one for the sauces. I may have given another star for the televisions for sports but, no. Let's skip right to it: Otter's is the bizarre, special-needs love-child of Taco Mac and Zaxby's. Which is a terrible shame because if there was ever a good indicator of success in the food business, focus had to be it. Sadly, Otter's fails at being anything but being forgettable. It's a fried chicken joint, but they only do fried chicken tenders, they have lots of dipping sauces, but they all feel like they came in large 55-gallon drums... I was contacted by the owner of Otter's a year later and that alone blew my mind. He was the perfect example of what a business owner in the service industry should be. I promised if I was in the area again to go ahead and give it a try and here I am working right next door now. This time I tried the Chicken Salad Sandwich, which is on the sweeter side but that's how I like it and it hit the spot. Will also suggested I try the wings again since that's what I had in my original visit. Yes, the wings hit the spot. Decent enough chicken. I got grilled tenders tossed in sauce and a salad. I did not get a drink but my meal came to $10 and change. The chicken was fine, not much of it. I'm really looking forward to the day when I can go into a place and they focus on their grilled items, not just serve them as an afterthought to the breaded and fried mess. The salad--iceberg. I don't even buy iceberg at home, and I sure don't want to pay $5 for iceberg somewhere else. Atmosphere was fine somewhere between Zaxby's and Taco Mac. The wings were okay and didn't have tremendous flavor. The portions of food seemed a little small, and a group of high school kids were hanging around. The atmosphere was like a sports bar as expected and was reasonably clean. The extra sauces were in bigger than zaxbys sauces. A good thing about the wings is that they can split the wings up in different flavors in sizes bigger than 10 I think. There is a few options on the menu that is not available on a zaxbys menu. If you want something a little different than zaxbys this is your place and I believe they serve alcohol too. read more

Ugh, where to begin with this place. My mom and I were on our way to a car show the other day and wanted to grab a bite to eat, so finally decided to check this place out after driving by it for many months now. As we made our way inside, we quickly discovered two things, first is that it's a chain restaurant and not a mom and pop like we originally thought; second was that it's basically a Zaxby's clone with a dash of Taco Mac styling. They have a decent amount of choices on there menu, but Zaxby's has a much better selection. After looking over the menu for a minute, we placed our order. I got a #2 (called an Otter Box, which came with 6 tenders (though it's only supposed to have five), texas toast, cole slaw, and your choice of dipping sauce; you can get the tenders fried or grilled and tossed in any of their sauces. I got mine tossed in teriyaki sauce. My mom got a #6 (called a chicken salad box) which you can get as either a sandwich or wrap; her meal came with fries as well. But be forewarned, drinks don't come with the meals; you have to pay extra for them. But nevertheless, onto the food itself. The quality seemed to be decent, but that's the only compliment I can give; to say that both of our meals were terrible would be an understatement. My mother described that wrap as nasty and odd tasting; it had a certain weird taste that masked the flavors of all the ingredients and made everything indistinguishable from one another. To be honest, it didn't even smell good. My chicken tenders weren't much better. The strips were tender, but the sauce completely ruined them; it literally turned them into a salt bomb. I could have eaten a salt lick and ingested less sodium; it was honestly that bad. I had to dip them in ranch dressing just to make them edible. I managed to eat three because I hadn't eaten all day, but I couldn't stomach anymore of them. I even had my mom try the sauce to see if it was just me, but the minute she tasted the sauce, it was instant bitter beer face; for something to be that salty is inexcusable. Oh, and the side items were somewhat ok at best, but nothing to remark about. The only other things I can say about the place is that it was clean and the staff was friendly; those factors were the only reason I gave this place 2 stars, although 1 and a half stars is more befitting. In short, for those of you looking for a go to chicken joint, cross this one off the list; the food is absolutely horrible and we won't be coming back. Stick to Zaxby's for chain restaurant chicken needs. read more

Grab some chicken, 4 domestic beers on tap, some TVs, and slap some local sports paraphernalia on the wall and you have another chicken & wings franchise place. This is place is just that, a cookie cutter restaurant that you have seen tons of times. I normally let that slide if a place can offer me something amazing on the menus and this place doesn't. Sandwiches are bland, wings are wings, and their house sauce is a lot like most house sauces. It contains blue cheese and some spices. Sorry the secret is out. For someone who really doesn't like Zaxby's...using them as a comparison to Otter's doesn't fit. So, they both serve chicken fingers...one actually serves consistently better food, offers beer, and has sporting events on all 8 TVs. The prices are the same, yet you get so much more. We have eaten here (according to the iPad that tracks your visits for coupons and free meals on the counter) 77 times at the time of this review since they opened almost 4 years ago. Tried everything on the menu (yes even the fried pickles...still don't like pickles), and it's all good and exactly how the menu describes it. Staff is friendly and does go out of the way...a lot like CFA. The owner even turned off a Braves game to show the World Cup USA match on all TVs with the sound from the game over the speakers...now that's impressive! Bring the family, friends, and even the team (lots of local sports teams frequent and are sponsored by the restaurant). Will continue to return... read more

Otter's is one of my top go-to restaurants in the West Cobb area. As a busy mom, family-friendly dining just doesn't get much better than this. I am a huge fan of fast-casual restaurants, and Otter's has perfected this model. For me, dining is about the overall experience, and not merely the food, thus Otter's gets 5 stars. Here's why: 1) Efficient "flow" in the Restaurant- From the moment you enter, where to order/pay is very clear, and the menu is dead smack in front of you. The self-service drink station is in the middle of the restaurant. You can immediately get your drink and have a seat, because the staff brings your food to you. Even though the restaurant is small, it never feels over-crowded or over-stimulating. 2) Friendly Staff- Great service/hospitality from the moment you enter. I have also noticed that as soon as someone sees me schlepping a highchair through the restaurant, a staff member immediately offers to help. Likewise, I almost always have a staff member offer to help us clear the table when we are finished. Its these little details that make the dining experience super pleasant. 3) Awesome Ambiance- Again, dining is about the over-all experience and Otter's has a great atmosphere. The restaurant definitely does not have a "catalog" feel to it. The sports theme is dominated by memorabilia not just from college teams but also from local teams. My kids love coming here due to the sports theme. There are also several large TV's throughout. Even though the space is small, the atmosphere is well thought out. There is a bar, and Otter's serves beer/wine. This little tidbit may be what makes Otter's stand out as a truly unique fast-casual experience. In the Spring/Summer we love sitting on the covered patio. 4) Consistent Food- No, the menu isn't huge, but the food is always consistent. You are going to get a consistent portion size and quality, every time. The food at Otter's is cooked to order, and the quality is significantly better than Chick Fil A or Zaxby's. The variety of dipping sauces is great too. 5) Value- The kids meals are priced well and come w/ drinks. The overall value for the quality of food and dining experience is excellent. 6) Cleanliness- Otter's is one of the cleanest restaurants around. It still looks brand new. The moment a table is empty, you'll see the staff immediately clean it. The trash cans and drink station are also super clean. My favorite quick service stopping point. Wings - bigger than many places in the area with several great choices for sauces. Sweet Heat and Lemon Pepper are two of my favorites. Wednesday for half price wings. Tenders - fresh chicken with a great breading. One of the best dipping honey mustards I have had with chicken. Apps - buffalo dip and fried pickles are a must. Salads - pretty large salad with chicken. Cesar with friend tenders tossed in Sweet Heat - perfection. You cannot beat the beer prices. We love to go to Otter's with our boys, food isn't a "blow you away experience" but for a family chicken finger restaurant it's about as good as your going to get, constantly consistent and a "neighborhood eatery" feel. After eating Otter's Chicken, I promised that I would come back again soon. In the most simplest way, Otter's Chicken is an improved version of Zaxby's, an extremely improved version. The food was tasty and the environment was nice-- multiple televisions throughout the store. I had a regular chicken basket with the "Otter" sauce. Again...rating it compared to other franchises...I try not to compare apples to oranges...Went back and visited this place again after having tried it several times when they first opened (and giving it a bad review). Things have definitely improved and they have worked out a lot of the kinks. I had a huge issue with the fried pickles last time and, I must admit, I did not try them this visit. This is kind of a long review (especially for a franchise restaurant), but I wanted to be fair since this is an update. First off, I give it a 4 as a franchise restaurant...that doesn't mean it's haute cuisine, it just means that as a franchise, they are doing something right...at least at this location. Restaurant is very clean and staff is very friendly and helpful. I was asked several times if I was enjoying my meal or if they could get me anything. They have a small bar area, which I like since I am usually eating by myself and don't like to take up a table when there are other people waiting for it. I went today (a Saturday) and it was packed...even with one employee out sick (I was eavesdropping...a nasty habit, I know), they were keeping up with orders, food delivery, and cleaning off tables pretty efficiently. The owner is on premises all the time, which I'm sure helps a lot, and he didn't hesitate to dig in and clean tables or help with whatever needed to be done. (Too bad more owners aren't more hands-on with their businesses.) Also, any time a customer had a question or a concern, he was right on top of it. Kudos to him. When the guy next to me mentioned to the waitress that one of his 5 chicken fingers was really tiny...she immediately went to the kitchen and got him another one...good customer service. Now, on to the important stuff...the food that I blasted last time. This is a chicken franchise...so that's what you get...don't expect an extensive menu or a lot of choices. If you have super picky kids, you might not be happy (unless they love chicken!). That being said, the food was much, much better than the last time I visited. I ordered the 5-finger platter, buffalo style (fried, tossed in hot sauce) that came with fries and slaw.They also offer grilled. Also got an iced tea. Price was about $9...which is high for a franchise place; however, the chicken fingers were very large (I brought two home and will chop them and put them on a roll for dinner) so I guess I'm getting two meals out of my $9. They were crispy enough that you knew they were fresh and tossed in the buffalo sauce right before serving...not submerged so long that they had gotten soggy. They were hot enough to benefit from a dunking in the ranch dressing, but not so hot that your mouth was on fire. I love their cole slaw because it is finely minced and sweet...I'm not a fan of fancy, vinegary, dry-ish slaw...I want slaw that is sloppy enough to eat with a spoon instead of a fork. I'm still not a fan of their fries...but that isn't the location's fault, it's the fries that the franchise uses (I assume) and may be a matter of personal taste. They are fairly thin, crinkle fries...I just like fries with more potato flavor. Next time I will order ala carte, instead of getting the platter, and just not get the fries. Now, the tea...anyone who has read my reviews knows that I am a stickler about my tea...I need to start a "list" of good and bad tea restaurants! I drink it constantly from about 6:30 a.m. till late afternoon. Their tea is pretty darn good...not quite as strong as I like, but not like water either...good enough that I drank two glasses and refilled to come home. Also have crushed ice...which I love. The only negative? (big in my book, as anyone who knows me would agree)...they have lemon SLICES! C'mon folks...cut the lemon in wedges...you can cut just as many of you can slices (I worked in a bar...I know how many you get in a lemon or lime)...it is impossible to squeeze a slice...but easy to squeeze a wedge. I don't want the lemon just floating around in my glass...it's not decoration...I want to squeeze the juice into my tea! I know, I know...I get a little crazy about my iced tea. I am a huge Otter's fan! It's always clean and comfortable and seems well run, though most employees are young. We had a little issue last time we were there and they were quick to address and deal w/ the problem. The food is so much better than Zaxby's and they have good wings. I prefer the chicken finger wrap which you can get tossed in several ways then pick a dipping sauce. I love the Sweet Heat and Ranch! It is just hot enough. The food is cooked to order and I have never had a problem w/ food quality. If I had one comment for the owners, I would love them to bring back the ketchup pump. Otters is okay. The chicken tenders are good and tossing them lemon pepper is pretty good. Fries are okay...taste a bit like frozen crinkle fries that are made at home. They have a decent beer selection for being a small place. I feel like they are overpriced for the amount you get. The meals don't include drinks which is a big turn off for me. It is cooked to order which is nice, but it's not like your food is super warm when it gets to you which is a bummer. You'd think it'd be real hot when it comes out since it was cooked to order. All the employees are very nice and the restaurant is always pretty clean. The outside patio is nice when the weather is warm. read more
