And the crispy chicken sandwich with pickles and sauce on the side. The bone-in chicken had a nice crust with good flavor and were good portions. The coleslaw was a generous portion and good flavor and was the creamy mayo style (versus vinegar style). The coated fries had a good taste and most were crisp, but a few were a bit heavy in oil. Cozy is the right name for this place. Needed a good fried chicken joint and this was perfect. Nestled in a corner off Barrett parkway this place was a great find. At first the menu looks too selective but they allow for any combination of food you want (bonus because I can be indecisive sometimes!). We ordered a two piece thigh , 5 piece drumstick and kids chicken bites meal. Sides can include cornbread (moist and not too sweet), fries or a biscuit (was very good too). Just opposite the order counter is a small table stocked with take out cartons, condiments and an assortment of hot sauces and the like. I would highly recommend the trappy's pepper water for a bite more tang and heat but not overpowering. This paired with the chicken nicely. Also ordered the fried okra and sweet plantain on the side. I really like the plantain just simply fried to bring out its natural sweetness but not overbearing. Okra was okay a bit on the soggy side but had good flavor. The seasoning on the crispy skin was perfect and the bite on the chicken itself was wholesome and delicious. I tried this restaurant for the first time on April 15th through the Too good to go app. While I was waiting I decided I would order more food aside from the Two good app since I didn't know what I was getting and I was interested in trying as much as possible. The service at the counter was great however they were out of most of the items unfortunately but what I did have was disgusting. It was bland and taste as if it was out all day . I was super disappointed and decided to email them as they have a feedback portal on their site. When providing my feedback it asked if I wanted to be contacted regarding my experience and of course I said yes and provided my contact information , email/number etc . It's almost June and not one person as responded . So I'll have to give this restaurant a ZERO. They only have the one start because yelp forces you to give it . so would recommend them to anyone and had I known my feedback wouldn't be acknowledged. I found this place on Yelp and thought I would give a try. It is spacious and clean with very friendly employees. I had the 4-piece tender with a side and it included cornbread and a drink for $13.73 all in. The tenders are good sized and are very light crispy battered . The batter is reminiscent of the batter used by captain ds but is much better. They taut they fry in tallow as opposed to vegetable oils . The tase always fine and the main thing for me that they had no crazy spice or excessive salt like some of their competitors have, you know who-Z----s. Their sides are country type items such as collards coleslaw, corn on the cob, yams, fried okra etc. I had the coleslaw. The side was an ample portion and was quite tasty made with a mayo base it was almost perfect but needed a touch of salt in my opinion. The cornbread however I have an issue with but it's just me. It is more like cake than what I was raised on. I kid you not. It is sweet enough that you could ice it , stick a candle in it and no one would question whether it was cake or not. Very similar in consistency and taste to jiffy cornbread mix. It's probably not and don't get me wrong , I gobbled it up. I guess I would not order it again but that is a personal taste issue . I do not eat beef or pork and never have. So I was shocked and frankly disgusted to find out after ordering through DoorDash that the chicken is fried in beef tallow. Nowhere on the app or menu was this disclosed. This kind of omission is unacceptable. There are many people like myself who avoid beef and pork for health, ethical, or religious reasons -- and using animal fats like beef tallow without clearly disclosing it can not only make someone sick, but it also violates personal and spiritual boundaries for many. This business must be more transparent about ingredients and cooking methods, especially on food delivery platforms. Good chicken here. Glad i gave them a try! I decided to get the lemon pepper chicken wings a they come with the ranch drizzle( you can request without) however it was really tasty with it and my wings were still hot and crispy. I also really enjoyed the red beans and rice they were seasoned well full of flavor. Also, note that the place is next to Texas Roadhouse, so the area can get busy. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by friendly cashiers. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the menu. Although hesitant about the food quality, I decided to order a simple meal, like their two-piece chicken, yams, fried okra, and cornbread. Unfortunately, I didn't like the cornbread; it had a strange aftertaste. The chicken was good. The fried okra was okay; they were different from what I'm used to but still edible. Would I go again? Yes! In this economy, having a restaurant that serves good food at a reasonable price is a plus. I also appreciated the self-serve area where you can package your own food with cover plates, condiments, utensils, etc. You don't need to bother the workers for anything. I don't ordinarily write reviews for food obtained via delivery service, but this place was so good that I had to suspend that personal guideline. I was craving fried chicken, when I read a one-star review from someone complaining that beef tallow was used for frying chicken, so I knew I had to try Cozy Coop. Bone-in chicken thighs are my personal benchmark for comparing fried chicken, and Cozy Coop ranks among my top five, dine-in included. The chicken breading was perfectly crispy and crunchy without being a tough overwhelming shell. The chicken itself was nicely seasoned, and cooked to perfect doneness. This chicken is obviously cooked by people who are not afraid of chicken, so it wasn't dried out. There is an option to order "Well Done" if that's your thing, but I didn't do that. There are a large number of very tasty, nicely prepared sides dishes. Their Cozy Sauce is very good, but I wasn't crazy about the house-made hot honey. It had an acidic/tangy note that I wasn't expecting - sort of a sweet and sour vibe. Everything arrived quickly and well packaged for delivery.
