Definitely don't recommend Ottley. They rush you through and do not take their time with children. When you post looking for a second opinion they send you are very nasty letter saying they will not treat your children's cavities and terminate you without rendering care. When you call for an explanation of termination they do not provide one. Highly highly do not recommend them and will be making a formal BBB complaint. If I could give negative stars, I would. Initial exam took 3 hours. Dr Gio didn't really tell me any options for what to do, she barely spoke to me. The tech asked me about allergies. I said that my family is sensitive to a lot, but I didn't know of any personal ones. The tech messed with X-rays so long that my mouth and face started swelling. She kept doing X-rays and the film started cutting the inside of my mouth due to swelling. She just giggled about it and kept on doing the X-ray. Apparently I am allergic to either the film, her gloves, or something she had on her gloves. The next day my face and mouth were so swollen that I couldn't eat my breakfast. The office staff even noticed how swollen my face was when I left. The office staff also told me how much and how long it would take to fix my broken tooth. They said it would take 10 months and 10 visits for my jaw to heal. Heal? From what? No one told me about 10 months for healing. What were they going to do for it to take 10 months? They told me it would be $5,000. I am pretty sure my insurance covers cleaning and a broken tooth. I need Monday appointments. The office said that they were pretty booked up and they would call me with an appointment. It's been about 7 months and they haven't called. Well I am not calling them back. I explained that I got their information from the Human website and even gave her the Dentist's name. My husband and I just moved here from Maryland and had to find a dentist here in Navarre. We found Ottley Dental. It took us nearly 5 months to get an appointment. As frustrating as that was, our first appointment was just an exam not a cleaning which was frustrating. After my husband and I were back in their exam rooms for over an hour we then had to schedule a 2nd appointment. The Dentist was very friendly and told both of us repeatedly how clean and well cared for our teeth were(both of us get our teeth cleaned every 6months per our insurance coverage). When I went to the front window to schedule our cleaning, I was told that the dentist recommended a more extensive cleaning to reach an area in the back of my mouth to clean some plaque that could not be cleaned during my regular brushing. I was then told this would cost $1754 of which my portion would be $557. I was shocked. I told the receptionist that we were retired and lived on a fixed income and that I wanted a regular cleaning which is covered by our insurance. She refused to give me a regular insurance covered cleaning. Its just unbelievable that I have to pay their fee or not be afforded the right to a regular cleaning. I called my dentist in Maryland who told me what a scam it is and that I needed to find another reputable dentist. As it turns out I will be going to Maryland next week and my dentist is happy to give me a regular cleaning. Beware before you go to this office. Ask lots of questions read more

Worst front desk staff ever. If you can get past them, you will probably like this place. I showed up for my appointment and it was not on their books. I was questioning myself but when I got home, I verified the date and time on the appointment card. They rescheduled me but unfortunately I became sick and called to cancel my appointment. The front desk girl says "we are booking into June." I asked for clarification that if I cancel my appointment, I have to wait 6 months to get in? She repeats they are booking into June and that the dental hygienist wear masks so I should come in anyway. What? I have bronchitis and and a bad cough. How is that going to work? The actual dentist and the hygienist are great but I'm not sure I can deal with the front desk people. read more

We have been going to this business since they first opened. The front receptionist is beyond rude. My daughter who has been going to them since she was a child called to have a cleaning appointment and see if she can get in as early as possible because her gums are bleeding. She had her wisdom teeth removed last year which caused her cleaning six months later to cost out-of-pocket. The dentist knew that, and never let her know until after the fact. At that time, she did not make another appointment, because she was shocked she owed for the cleaning she just received. When she called earlier this week, she was told there was no exception and she could not come in until April 2024! Again she is 24 years old and she's been going there since she was a child. I called to verify, and I was treated rudely as well. This place used to be upstanding. Everyone used to be courteous. It's turned into a horrible place to even try to do business. I left as a patient years ago because of this. Now, my daughter is leaving them too. My husband will be the final one to leave this horrible company. It's a shame that people that has been supporting this business for so long could be treated so horribly by the front receptionist. Thanks to her, the company is losing more and more patients. I would not even give this place a try. They're overbooked and understaffed. Also, I never leave reviews on any company, but this was the last straw for this company. read more

There are quite a few dentists in the area but most do not seem to accept kids under 4. Ottley Smiles is one practice that does, is very kid friendly and tries to make it a pleasant experience for children. My two kids who are seen here always walk in with a smile and readily go back to the treatment area. The receptionists are prompt, professional and friendly and the waiting area is bright, nicely furnished and is always clean and pleasant. There are family photos, a 46" LCD or LED TV playing kid friendly programs and kids activity tables on one side. A smaller sub 40" for dental advertisements along with dental product information (out of date coupons) on the other side. The middle has your standard magazines on a coffee table with a nice couch. The treatment areas are also clean, bright and airy from what little I saw and I assume the dental hygienists, dental assistants and dentists are all friendly, professional and competent since only my kids go into the treatment area and they usually come out smiling. The little interaction I've had with the staff has always reflected this perception. read more

Today was my first visit to this dental office and I am happy to say that everything was excellent. I called about a month ago to schedule my first appointment and I was surprised to find out that they were so booked. I told myself that they must be good if they are that busy. I told myself to be patient especially because they work with Tricare and because they are 5 minutes from my home. Once I arrived, I was asked to fill out some general forms. Once complete, I met Heather. She was friendly. She took my x rays and few photos. Then Dr. Jonathan came in. He made me feel comfortable. He seemed casual but extremely knowledgeable and thorough. There was no scolding or anything unpleasant. He took his time and made sure to explain a few things to me. I highly recommend this dental office and I look forward to going back in for my cleaning. read more

First of all... the people at the front desk do not prioritize, and they aren't the funnest people to talk to at all. But that is not at all why i'm writing this review. Okay so a few years ago I had gotten in to a bike accident and I knocked out my two front teeth. Then a couple years later my root needed to be removed, so we went to ottley smile's. We waited about 30 minutes just to go into an even smaller operating room and waited at least another 15-20 minutes before the dentist even came into the room. Then it was finally time to get my root removed. The first thing they did was give me a single novocaine shot, and they didn't even inject all of it... So then the dentist who was going to proceed to operate on my mouth, said "lets get started" (even though I told him the numbness hasn't set in all the way.) Then the guy took this dental instrument that literally looked like a frickin pirate's hook, and when up into my gums had it on top of the root and started pulling! I was in so much pain, I was screaming, and then he said to the nurse "get me more novocaine." This process kept repeating over and over again. By the time the root removal was complete, my bottom lip was covered in dry blood and my gums were in extreme pain. If you thought the first half of the story was bad, just hold up now cause there's more. So fast-forward a couple years my gums are 100% healed and better but every now and then I would get a little pain where the root used to be, so when I went to my new dentist for a different surgery, they did some X-rays. When the X-ray photos came back, he looked at me and then at the nurse and then at my mom and said "there is still a piece of that root in your gums, and to proceed with the surgery it has got to come out." I looked at my mom and I was so mad. Ottley frickin smiles left a quarter of the root in my gums! So thankfully my new dentist was able to pull it out quickly and it only took some numbing gel, one and a-half novocaine shots, and no pirate hooks. So if you like Ottley smilles, good for you. But that was my experience and I hope that I never step foot in that place again. read more

BEWARE of shady insurance practice by Ottley Smiles. I made an appt for a cleaning with Karina Ottley and provided my age (51) and name of insurance when I made the appt. I verified that Karina was in my network of providers. When I arrived for my appt, I was told that Karina only handles pediatric patients and I would be seeing Jared Ottley (related). AFTER my appt, I was sent a bill for $165 even though my insurance covers 100% of the fees for cleaning. When I called to find out what the bill was for, I was told that JARED is not in my network! Classic BAIT & SWITCH of dentists so they can get more money out of the patient. I was NEVER told when I made my appt with KARINA that she only worked with kids. I was NEVER told BEFORE seeing JARED that he was not part of my network. I will be filing complaints with every possible organization and warning everyone I know about their shady business practices. read more

Dr. Ottley's team of pros will treat you like family. I know this for I retired here from ATL and what we had there was like an assembly line dental office. The folks here are great in others areas of expertise. For instance, I bought an original painting one of his staff had completed and hung on the wall and still have it. Every staff member we've encountered is friendly, their hygienists are excellent, the office is clean & cheerful, and I love how family oriented it is. I came into Ottley smiles for the first time and I have payed them $250 nearly every visit, on top of insurance. They insist on asking me if I have a job and work over and over for some reason. I had a front tooth break in half and become nearly abscessed. ( Half the tooth was already fake as I had cosmetic work done on it nearly a decade ago.) They told me in an email that they may have to reschedule me if i didn't have a certain amount of money. I had to ask for anti-biotics, as they did not offer me anything for three whole visits after I came in with the tooth. it seemed like they did not care if i died from it, as i was being slowly poisoned to death from this tooth ( see the screenshot of the email that I've attached.) What I mean by that is they were more concerned about money it seems. All in all I found them incredibly insulting. I feel like they look at me and think of me with this attitude like I'm some broke crackhead off the street because of a missing front tooth. I have most of my teeth, and I am a great person. I got a lot of bad vibes from the dentist the last time I saw her, and her assistant. They had a very sassy tone in their voice, and looked at me harshly, with this aggressive twinkle in their eyes. Her assistants comments about how it's cool to eat an ugly animal but not a cute one was rather off-putting as well. The attitude and vibes from a lot of the people there really makes me want to never come back to their office again, however; I have no choice. I have been paying in to them. I have to get this tooth fixed so that I can satisfy the superficial demands of society, so people won't treat me like a looser because of a missing front tooth.. which, is not an accurate indication of someones character anyway. We all bleed the same color, we all breath the same air, we all live on the same amazing planet, and in the same incredible universe. I'd really appreciate it if this dentist office and the entire world could treat everyone with the same amount of respect and dignity that they deserve; regardless of what color someones skin is, how little or how much money someone makes, how many teeth someone has in their mouth, or how cute or how ugly someone is judged to be. These people need to grow up. They are judgmental, superficial, and insulting. I think they have displayed the most despicable behaviors any human beings could ever display, and I find it sickening. Grow up Ottley smiles. This partial tooth is a fake as the respect that I get for wearing it.. But, you guys don't seem to understand the difference between someones appearance and someones true character. update: 10/8/15 They asked me nicely if I could remove this review, and apologized. ( It would be a lot more meaningful if they didn't try to gas light me into believing i was imagining things when I'm very familiar with non-verbal communication and psychology, and if the apology actually came from the two "people" involved instead of someone who gets paid to defend their diabolical behavior )The Dr denys she meant anything by it but this is what I have to say about that. Nonverbal communication is everything.. the tone in their voices, the looks on their faces, the body language, the bad vibes, the negative energy, is what speaks the loudest. Besides, the proper question would have been to ask where do you work, what do you do? Not, "do you have a job? do work? in a condescending tone. On top of that, this doesn't negate the other insulting superficial comment of her assistant. She did mean something by it. So yes, she was being insulting and her denying it is total hog wash. Update 10/09/15 They won't respond to my emails. I asked for an apology, nothing. Update: 10/19/15 I asked for a refund. The girl on the phone ( rachel ) said I had $6xx credit left. She won't return my calls or emails. I called up the office later on to ask about my credit and they said they didn't know how much was there until a few weeks down the road. I used Ottley Smiles for 2.5 years when returning from overseas with my military active duty spouse. We had pretty good care in Germany, but the water is not floridated there so the teeth don't get the same protection, and I felt great being so close to Ottley Smiles and using them for care. I got a nice reminder about the appointment, once I had my appt. on Valentine's Day and got a long stem red rose! They were giving these to all patients that day! I know that's not dental care, but it matters. (I gave my rose to a shut-in neighbor and she loved it). The packets afterward with floss, mouthwash, toothbrush, paste, were always really substantial, and I remember on one visit they knew I was travelling and gave me extra packets to take on the long trip. Even when the military changed its coverage, Ottley was clear with me that because my hubby is active duty it was not an issue to be covered, in advance of the appointment. They knew the insurance regulations clearly about that change from one carrier to the other. I am very happy with the care received there for my teeth. A friendly, professional place, even compared to other great doc offices in that area. read more

This place is awful. Even though my 19 year old daughter had a bad experience with them about a year ago,(they drafted $ from her bank account with no warning,causing overdraft fees) I gave them a chance because they were close, even though their prices seemed high. I took my 8 year old son for a filling. Not only is their "pediatric" dentist robotic, unfriendly and horrible with kids, she gave my son too much nitrous, he threw up, and if I hadn't been in the room to turn him to his side, he may have aspirated. She and the assistant were standing right there, watching him vomit while lying flat on his back. Stupidly, I gave them another chance. This time, they left my nervous 12 year old in the chair, watching a news channel (not a distracting kid's channel) for 45 minutes until I finally said something, at which point the male dentist emerged from the back room and started to examine her. Still, I tried again. Today was the last straw. My 16 year old went in for 3 fillings. The staff was so condescending and rude to him, and the other male dentist went ON and ON about his personal political views and opinions during the procedure. Very unprofessional. Heidi, the hygeneist is very nice. She's the only bright spot in this nightmare of a dentist's office. Go ANYWHERE else! read more
