It's a great place to get a…read moreglass of wine (or two or three), because they have a Wine-o-Matic, which is a magical device that dispenses tastes or full glasses of wine from a selection in the machine. The way it works is that you tell the people behind the counter that you want to do the wine tasting, and then you add an amount of money onto a card. A small taste of wine might cost anywhere from $1 to $3, and a full glass might range from $3 to $6 or more, depending on the bottle. What I love about this system (the Wine-o-Matic) is that I can take my time, look at all of the options, process what I've looked at, and make a decision about what I want to drink without having to speak to anyone. This is a wine-loving introvert's dream! The lounge area where the Wine-o-Matic is located is very comfy -- there are couches and tables, as well as little nibbles available. I loved dispensing my wine into my glass, and then sitting back and enjoying the wine while relaxing in a comfortable and comfy room. The wine tasting room is a separate room from the rest of the store, so it was quiet while I was there, which I appreciated. Like I said, I visited Vintage a couple of times while I was in Elkhart Lake. One of the times, I visited to buy some local beer. They have individual cans, so you can create your own six-pack. They (of course) have Spotted Cow. There are also all kinds of gourmet food items, kitchen things and gifts. This is a really neat place to hang out or find a gift for the wine- or beer-loving person in your life.

Staff are always helpful. The shop has a wine lounge on site, too.

Started out about a year ago went in, looking for some craft beer. I realized that the zipper on my…read morepants was half down, there were other patrons in the store, so trying not to bring attention to myself I walked around to the next aisle. Quickly as possible, I took care of the situation and everything was fine until the owner standing in front of me asked me if I just pissed on his floor. I looked at him and said what and he said it again did you just piss on my floor I said no my zipper was down and I secured it and he then walked away, adding to the embarrassment of walking into a public establishment having my fly down. Now just the other day. I googled liqueur that I needed for a specific cocktail. And Flannery's came up. So I called and acquired about that specific item when I did this. His comment was well. I'm a liquor store and it's a liquor. That's why it came up. I don't carry it. So I guess I snapped back and said well there's another liquor store down the street and their name didn't come up and then he replied that's because I pay $160 a month that would be for search engine optimization those are not his words those are mine. In return, I responded, whoa spin the wheel, big spender. Then I thought he was going to hang up on me, but he didn't. He just responded. Good luck in your quest. All I have to say is reputation, goes a long ways as does word-of-mouth. You need to work on your customer skills because if I were an alcoholic which I'm not, and you were the last liquor store on the planet I would never drink again!

The owner definitely has a passion for beer and makes it a point to stock any and all limited/hard to find beers he can. Another great thing about the place is that any time you go there the employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and will just "shoot the shit" with you about beer, whiskey, sports, music, or whatever you feel like chatting about. They have reasonable prices, and a nice little cigar selection also.

Two locations and this one in Waukesha I am reviewing. Family owned and operated. If you aren't from the area than you don't realize what this liquor store offers. If you are from this area or the one in West Allis, then you probably are spoiled with what they have to offer! I rarely go in and not find what I am looking for (except at times beers and sometimes wines). That's not a knock... what place provides you with any wine you want? What sets Discount Liquor apart is the knowledge experts in wines. They were voted as 50 best wine stores in America... you have a question, ask and you shall receive. Price is good on most, cheaper than some but the variety is unsurpassed... maybe besides Total Wines. If you can't find something talk to an employee and they will help you with ordering it or find a close replacement. I have been looking for Rombauer Zin and they made a suggestion to go with Truett-Hurst Zin and we agreed, it is a close match. I love how they divide the store and categorize sections and again, you will find it difficult to find a better value and service.
