I saw Brazen Head Pub post on social media that for four days only they were serving a special burger called The Garfield, which was a piece of deep fried lasagna on a burger with mozzarella, marinara, and buns toasted like garlic bread. Both my older son and I thought this sounded amazing so we stopped in on a Friday night to try it. We both got fries for our side. The burger was great as expected. Breading and deep frying the lasagna helped prevent it from being a mess and they added enough marinara to give it flavor without overpowering anything. The fries were lightly salted, but were otherwise just boring, plain potato. Apparently 6pm on a Friday is a horrible time to visit Brazen Head Pub if you want to be seated in a reasonable timeframe. My son and I stood there for at least 20 minutes watching a table that was done eating and the gentleman and his credit card in hand, ready to pay if someone would ever stop and give him his bill. While this was going on, another couple at the bar finished their food and sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for their check. It's almost as if the employees had no desire to turnover tables even with a line at the door including and behind us. There were three people bartending/waiting tables so they had plenty of coverage given the smaller size of the place. At one point, closer to the end of our meal, one of the bartenders looked at my son and I and asked "are you guys good?" as he was literally walking away from us and I was holding up an empty soda glass to show him I'd like a refill. Oddly, he gave me a thumbs up and kept going. I don't even know what to make of that other than poor service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The music that was playing was excessively loud. If it was a live band, I'd get it, that's part of the show and I wouldn't complain. First time here. We came to taste a burger from the winner of the 2025 Wisconsin Beef Associations, Best Burger contest. And let me just say, if you like a good burger this (may be) the place for you. It's located on Main Street in West Bend. This area has gone through a real renaissance. The fixed up the street and sidewalks, have angled parking, and the lighting a nice. It's a real treat to be able to walk in this area of small shops and businesses. No stripmalls or big box stores. Very nice city planning! Came with a couple of friends, around 11:30. The Brazen Head Pub is one of many bars and restaurants in this area. This pub is pretty typical layout. It's long and narrow, a little dark (lighting and wood), has a long bar, and then a few high top tables. There is one larger table towards the rear that holds 6 people. Since there were 3 of us, we grabbed a high-top and stole a chair from the next table. (we had 4 people, not sure what we would have done). There was only one person (John) running all the table and managing the bar, and a couple of people in the small kitchen. John (our server) got to us after a short wait. Got our drinks and order placed right away. We ordered some Cheese Nuggets (white cheddar curds) and 3 different burgers. You can either "build your own" or order the standard "Brazen Head Beer Cheese Burger". The curds came out almost instantly. They were hot, with a side of ranch. They were good (not great, a little too much breading for my tastes). We waited a bit for the biggers, but they ended up being worth the wait. All were made perfectly to order, hot, lots of flavor, and very good portions. The Brazen Head Burger was tall, but manageable. The different elements were distinct and complementary. The cheese sauce had a big of a tang. The fries were okay, but could have been hotter. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While we were there, the place filled up. Lots of other small groups, some at the long bar. With the additional people it got to be pretty noisy, to the point that it was hard to have a conversation. It didn't help that there was a speaker, right over the tables, with loud music[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. With only one person running all the tables, after our food came out, it was difficult to get our servers attention. Extra napkins and getting our check was a challenge. The experience was mixed. Definitely a place to get an amazing burger, cooked perfectly to order. However, the noise and the service (due to their popularity) was a bit lacking. Came here to try the award winning burger and it didn't disappoint. In the current trend of thin and crispy smash burgers, this was not; a thick, fat and juicy patty cooked medium on a pretzel bun with a saucy cheese, perfectly cooked and high quality bacon, and fried onion ring, all the flavors blended beautifully, ratios were spot on, it was a sloppy, delicious masterpiece of a burger! Fries were not good at all, ranch seasoning/powder, meh...this burger would have paired well with some well done tater tots. I didn't even look at the rest of the menu, maybe they had them, lol? But if the rest of the food was this good, would like to come back and try some other things, as the place was packed at noon on a Thursday; not a ton of seating, but only waited about 5 minutes until someone left and a spot at the bar opened up. Absolute horrible experience here the other night. We had come from another bar and were really enjoying our night and I ended up leaving this place - fuming. A booth at the end of the bar opened up and the group leaving welcomed us to take over. The table was still filled with their glasses and plates, but we didn't mind as we rushed to take the spot. The bartender came over to clean everything and apologized when we let her know that it was no worries on our end. This is where things got out of pocket.... An elderly lady sat at the end of the bar, turned her chair all the way facing us and mumbled something about us clearing the table???? We couldn't even understand her. She got up and started clearing things with the bartender. I blew this off, but I was surely mistaken. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This same elderly lady continued to point at us from 3-4 feet away and make ugly faces at us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She was clearly friends with the bartender as the bartender clocked off and sat next to her with a glass of wine. The bartender then makes an ugly face at us and says "well I'm off the clock".... Like what??? Were we intended to clear our own table? If so - how the hell were we supposed to know? It's our first time here and we're new to Wisconsin. Overall, I was disgusted with this lady's attitude and the bartender allowing/provoking her to shit talk patrons more. Cherry on top? I found this place 3 years ago and was looking for a place to eat at 8:30 without being a chain restaurant. First time, I came on Tuesday and got the special for the day, and the burger was the best on a pretzel roll. The second time I came was Thursday and they have wings for $0.75 and they make all of their sauces in house. They sell out quick so I recommend coming early. Personally, I order wings naked, and get sauces on the side so they are still crunchy. They also have lots of specials each day so it's always a surprise. Came here for a lunch while in town visiting family. Food... our party of four tried some various items...Rueben sandwich, Ruben rolls, Fried Fungus, and one other item my aunt had that I don't recall. However, it had to be good because she never shared...HAHA! My brother had the Ruben rolls and said they were very good! I had a Ruben sandwich and it too was very good! I could tell that the accompanying sauces were actually home made and not off the shelf...very nice! The rye bread was a light rye bread and played well with the sauerkraut. The Fried Fungus was SO good! I usually don't like fried food and fried appetizers in general - and this is especially so at a tavern/pub/bar!! These were home made, locally grown shrooms, dipped in a light batter with undisclosed spices (we asked and he wouldn't give up the recipe!) and clearly fried quickly in some light oil because the mushrooms remained plump and juicy, exploding in the mouth when eaten... very nice! We went at around 2pm on a Saturday and it was reasonably busy for a place that presents itself primarily as a bar. The location in downtown West Bend is great and it's central to the farmer's market and everything nearby. We were acknowledged quickly after sitting at the bar and the staff checked in on us throughout the visit. This burger has been ranked in the top ten in Wisconsin, and I think the quality of the beef itself was great. It was cooked perfectly to my request (medium rare) and tasted much better than cheap burger meat. I do think Skippy's in Thiensville has them beat on toppings, but I'd eat here again, no question. The specials during the week are very appealing too, including 50 cent wings. I was intrigued by several of the non-burger entrees and may try that next time. read more

He said that You can never go wrong with their Guinness battered cod, but that the walleye was exceptionally good this time. It was fried with bits of garlic, which made it very flavorful. It was quite moist and flakey. We also got the Reuben rolls, which were very good. They were pretty much a Reuben sandwich in an egg roll, just as advertised. saw the best burger awards for WI so naturally had to try this. started with a Bloody Mary, which was fantastic. menu focuses mostly on a build your own burger -- which definitely works for me. lots of great sauces & add ons, so I was able to make it perfect for me. the burger was FANTASTICALLY cooked. so juicy & well seasoned ... and huge. definitely didn't need to finish it all but did because it was so good. Well cooked and great beef flavor. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had. Also had the fried fungi and they're not like any other fried mushrooms they are huge cut portions of giant mushroom heads and fried. Seriously amazing. While not the famous pub with the same name in Dublin, this West Bend pub doesn't disappoint. While the kitchen maybe small, it cranks out delicious food. I've sampled burgers to fish fry to their brazen melt and have never been disappointed. Simple solid food in a relaxed setting. I am also impressed by their rotating tap list that caters to a wide variety of beer lovers. Bartenders and servers hustle and are quick to refill an empty glass. Located in downtown West Bend is a great location for an Irish pub. We stopped in for lunch and the classic looking bar had a few stools left. Started with a couple of draft beers although the selection did seem somewhat limited. Anyways we ordered a couple of burgers and fries and were totally pleased with the food as well as the service. The 1/2 lb burgers were hot off the grill along with some fantastic fries! The medium rare was a bit more rare than I liked so you may want to keep that in mind when ordering. We have eaten at this bar several times. Over the last couple of years the food has definitely went downhill. We ordered a chipotle chicken sandwich as well as salad with grilled chicken. That started off our visit and continued to go downhill! Now one would think after an article like that, customer service should be at the top of their game? We both got a soda and gave him our order and continued to watch people come in and sit down to be ignored. He was delivering sandwiches and drinks but nobody else was helping. No pep in his step and sloppy to boot! His pants were literally falling off the back of his a$$! Tried to get his attention multiple times for refills and for silverware but failed! Finally came and brought us a box and snatched my credit card out of my hand very aggressively. I ate half my sandwich because it was cold and my friend ate 3/4 of hers. Now before you jump down my throat and ask if we complained to get a different sandwich, when was I to do that? He literally ghosted us! We observed another couple trying to wave him down too. Unfortunately after a 45 minute ride to get there because I had seen your Facebook post about having the best burger in Wisconsin, I will never return and I will tell everyone I know not to waste their time. We walked in around 2:30 pm on Sunday May 11th, yes I know, it was Mother's Day but given that their was only 2 other tables sat and less than a dozen people at the bar that is no excuse for the service we received, or actually lack there of. After being sat and physically seeing both the waitress and the bartender see us sit, we waited at least 10 minutes before deciding to go up to the bar to order our drinks and ask for menus as no one had been to our table yet. After that we thought someone would come take our order as we had seen the waitress great, bring menus and drinks, and take orders from a couple tables that had sat after us and from a couple that had sat at the bar. But unfortunately for us, no such luck. I continued to observe both the waitress and the bartender look at our table several time and yet both refused to serve us. Looks like a fun place with lots of patrons exiting at lunchtime, so I thought I'd check it out. The menu is kind of limited but most places are these days. Opted for the burger and fish fry to split with my dining companion. Unfortunately the fish wasn't enough to split and it was way over cooked/well done that I couldn't eat the breading and wanted to taste the fish. Fish was high-quality but unfortunately the overcooking over powered it. The potato soup was so very salty I needed to drink water with every bite. Burger was pretty good but prices are pretty high at $16 for bar food. I noticed one of the cooks exit the restroom with a kitchen towel which kind of set me back, but I was finished so off I went. In town for a quilt show and were hungry when it closed. Found this place and it said they had a terrific fish fry. Got in and grabbed the last table - they were packed. Ordered a stout and wifey a Bloody Mary - both very good. Wife ordered baked cod, I ordered beer battered cod. They lied in the comments when they said the fish was terrific IT WAS INCREDIBLE! Was looking for a lunch spot in west bend and this was one of the places recommended. Walked in around 12:30 and was a bit surprised there was no dining room or anything that would indicate food was served other than a menu and what appeared to be a kitchen at the end of the narrow hallway of a bar with stools and couple of bar tables. Had a seat a a table and realized you would need to order at the bar if you wanted anything. Read the menu for awhile and decided against paying$16 for a sandwich in a bar. As we were leaving, the bartender says "I'll be right with you". That was the only acknowledgment we had from anyone. Strange. read more

Brazen Head is the most unoriginal name for an Irish Pub. They have one in every city, I swear. It's like calling your bar "Bob's Bar" or something like that. Anyhow, I walked in an sat down at the bar. They have Guinness and other stuff on tap but I asked for an iced tea. No iced tea. Gotta settle for Coke. I got this turkey sandwich and a side caesar salad, both of which I enjoyed. The bartender dude was pretty cool. Parking was no problem, I parked right in front of the place. Damn near no one was there, I guess they are afraid of the covid monster. I hear the covid monster comes out after 10 PM so they have to shut the bars down early. Then I went to the bathroom. They have pictures of magazines all over the walls. Mostly of hot chicks. But the pic that really grabbed my attention was one of Ozzy Osbourne, dressed in drag, groping the genitals of Tommy Lee from Motley Crue.
