Drove all the way from Jersey to find a waitress from Cherry Hill ... felt welcome right away!! We had been on the road for a couple hours and needed breakfast. "Our Home Town Diner" sounded good, had positive reviews, and most importantly was open at 7am. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What a treat and definitely a feel of home town friendliness including the aforementioned waitress who almost was from our home town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I spotted the Jar Bowl on the menu so I asked the waitress how their sausage gravy was. She said both the sausage and chopped beef gravies were "really delicious" so I said give me the Jar with its biscuit, gravy, meat-filled omelette and jalapenos (She did ask if I was aware of those spicy devil's and I just smiled ). The "Jar Bowl" was AWESOME and the gravy delicious (I only order "gravy" in southern states.)!! Everyone's breakfasts were delicious and more than reasonably priced plus the coffee kept coming!! I have traveled all over the world and it was in this diner that I had my best omelet ever. I ordered the western but subbed crispy bacon instead of ham. It came out hot and perfect. The veggies weren't soggy, the cheese was melty, and the bacon was perfectly crisp. Whatever chef was working on July 12th around noon please give them a huge thank you from me. I'm still dreaming of it. The home fries were also tender perfection and the biscuit rivaled my grandmother's, may she RIP. Standard grade diner food - which means yummy! I ordered one of their menu breakfast specials - which includes a biscuit with sausage gravy, two eggs (over easy), home fries, and bacon. And coffee and water. I inquired as to whether their corn beef hash is scratch made. Sadly it is not - only the canned variety. Food came out shortly thereafter. Food was hot and tasty. As with so many breakfast joints, I can see the bits of sausage in the sausage gravy, however, it does not taste "sausagey." The eggs were cooked properly, and the bacon was crisp and delish. I added some black pepper and hot sauce to the sausage gravy and eggs; and some salt to the potatoes. Overall, an enjoyable breakfast. Service was good - wait staff was very attentive. Everyone at our table agreed it was like eating a delicious home cooked meal. And because of that it is where we take all our friends when they come for a visit. The service was quick but the food was below average. Either the oil was rancid or I just didn't like what they used. Could not finish scrambled eggs or potatoes. Pancakes were good, as was bacon. Even the coffee was meh--weak. Probably won't go back. Server was ok though. read more

We are visiting our daughter and her family and while in MI, Ypsilanti, we stopped in hear after Church. The place was packed and it sure smelled good as we stepped in. Mary was our server. She was a polite and courteous young lady. The vibe wa all Big Blue- Go Wolverines!! We ordered and waited, and waited and waited some more. About 40 minuets after ordering the food was brought to the table. I sent my toast back because it wasn't done enough and my omelette and hashbrowns were not hot! Warm but not hot. When it came time to pay and leave I saw how crazy the bill was for what we got. I'll give grace on the buddy side but for what you get it was too expensive, too long for the food to come and wayyyyyy to expensive. I will not be back. Don't be intimidated by the line outside! Our waitress said she'd never seen anyone wait longer than 15 min. We had 35 people ahead of us and that's how long we waited. The tater tots with their special weekend gravy are delicious. If you like your homefries crispy, make sure to tell them. read more

Waited 37 minutes for our meals but every table was filled (no social distancing). When the food came the Ruben was cold and the fish was actually spoiled. You could smell it before even tasting it. I took a chance and tried it. Had to spit it back out. I'm not the pickiest person in the world but this was beyond anyone's lowest expectation. We both had soup and they were very good. Food is mediocre at best. Its very small. Parking is very tight. They are always closing due to staff issues, equipment failures or other issues. Its a hit or miss situation to eat there. Ive went to eat there 3 times in past few months, and was only able to 1 time for lunch. It's probably a pretty good place when they are fully staffed and everything is working properly. Definitely not a place for groups of more than 5. Prices are comparable to any other family diner. They are a new place. They definitely have kinks to work out. I will probably go back in the future, if they stick around long enough. read more

Fantastic diner food! The veggie omlette was fresh. My husband loved the french toast special- his bacon was crispy! The biscuit was a buttery delight. Coffee was ok. Service was good. Even though we do not live in the town, we go to Our HomeTown Diner every Saturday morning for breakfast! The service is so friendly and we feel almost like family. The food is simply wonderful! During the few times they are closed for special events or vacation, we count the days until they come back and we still can't find a good enough alternative restaurant. This diner though small and hidden away off to the side is a great place to have a great meal. My daughter and I came here on a Friday morning . We sat down since you seat yourself and we found a quaint little booth near the window. The booth was clean and bright from the windows that were clean. My daughter saw a breakfast special on the board on the wall in handwritten chalk on a chalk board (so cute). And I saw a lunch offer on the same board. We ordered our respective breakfast and lunch. The food took a good minute to come out. The waitress who was an older lady did forget about us a few times while she gossiped with other customers. She actually forgot to pick up our food twice and didn't fill our water glasses when she walked by 7 times to refill the other customers (older people she seemed to know) glasses with water or coffee or whatever they were drinking. Over all the food was good , the service was okay could have been better hit definitely not the worse I have ever had. We will be back. read more
