Unsafe food and no accountability--won't be returning. The staff were friendly, and our server was kind and polite. I ordered the Love Shack Burger (server's recommendation), while my friends had a salad and a BLT. Unfortunately, the bacon on my burger was dangerously under cooked--translucent, white gray fat rubber corners (1/3 cooked) and clearly it not safe to serve or eat. I politely pointed it out, and I did not give her a hard time at all I was in too good of a mood. The server asked if I wanted more bacon (...yes, obviously). Yes, she said sorry, but no manager came to apologize, and no one offered anything to make it right. Do I want more bacon? Yes! After waiting 10-15 minutes, nothing arrived, so I just ate the burger without the bacon. It was pretty good, but the experience was already soured. When I was halfway through my burger, the server returned to say the bacon was "coming soon." At that point, it was too late. I told her not to bother it was too late. Amazed she didn't take anything off the bill. One of my friends who ordered the BLT looked more closely. Two of his bacon slices were not cooked either. RAW looking. Come on - clearly under cooked bacon in a BLT? Unacceptable. He removed 2 under cooked slices himself. BTW - We both had funny stomach issues afterward. Shocker. No comp, no apology, no accountability. Unsafe food is unforgivable, and the lack of concern from the kitchen and management is unacceptable as it means they think it is OK Wrong. We won't be returning. Obsessed. What more can I say? There is nothing more enticing than 700 types of mac & cheese on a menu. I was in town visiting a friend and this was at the top of my list to try. We came on a Sunday evening and were seated right away, indoors. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and a surprising number of tables. Our server was fantastic. Drinks were good, chowder was delicious, but the mac and cheese was by far the star of the show. It took approximately 2 full days to decide which one to order, but I eventually chose the Pork Belly Blues Mac, which was *chefs kiss* So much flavor, so unique, creamy and delicious. The staff seemed very friendly when we walked in to a completely empty restaurant at 5:30pm. Drinks were well made so what's the problem right? The bathroom was dirty and the locks were falling off the doors. The toilets smelled like old piss at a football stadium. Spoiled tuna on the tuna wonton appetizer and popcorn shrimp served in a bowl of cheese with 5 flakes of roma tomato for $17. My daughter's plain make and cheese gave her food poisoning and I ending up caring for her until 12:17am as she was panicking because she was so sick from the food. Casual informal place with tasty food and friendly service. Our server was very friendly and professional. The burgers, fries and variety of Mac and cheeses were very good. However we did see other servers removing used glasses from the tables by holding their fingers in the rims. When I used to be a server, we were always taught that it is an unsanitary way to remove glasses from tables since people have put their mouths on the rims. It's not an imposing sort of restaurant at all, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say this was the best mac and cheese I've ever had at a restaurant. And the choices! There must have been at least 20 different varieties of mac and cheese on the menu. We started with the house cocktails, which were very reasonably priced, and quite tasty (especially the blueberry bourbon lemonade). LA had the Mediterranean mac and cheese with tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, spinach and goat cheese. RL had the "Philly Cheesesteak" mac and cheese, with shaved steak, caramelized onions, peppers, and cheddar. I had the Pork Belly Blues mac and cheese with pork belly, blueberry hoisin, goat cheese, blueberries, scallions and mango. I wouldn't have imagined blueberries in mac and cheese, but it was really delicious!! I got a little taste of the others, and they were outstanding too! Wow. Not sure what happened to this place. Was perfect all summer, then today we made reservations, were seated, then today it was 45 minutes until we got waters. In an empty restaurant. Then becoming busy, every table was served before us. Took another 45 to get 4 mac and cheeses. All my toppings were dry and cold. Our waiter Kalani was the most rude human being I've ever interacted with. He was sarcastic and snobby, getting in my face to tell us he can't run our cards separately unless we do all the work for him and slammed the check down on the table. At a loss for words. Loved the concept. And this was such a relief after having tried to eat at the establishment next door that $50 seemed like a reasonable price for the respite. Unfortunately, the meal peaked with the sweet potato poutine. Nothing was terrible. But the flavors just didn't live up to their full potential. Couple that with the excitement inspired by the menu, the experience comes in at a flat A-OK. Not bad. Just not stellar, either. We started with the award-winning seafood chowder. The flavor was great. There was a generous amount of meat-mostly seafood, which was awesome. The onions and celery, though, were undercooked. At least by our standards. Not catastrophic by any means. But not winning any awards from us. Next we had the poutine where we subbed sweet potato fries for the base. That was a great choice as these fries were bold, thick cut, and had a lovely flavor. It also added a beautiful color to the dish along with the dark mushrooms and bright green onions. The cheese was gooey and plentiful. There were a decent amount of mushrooms which was nice as this is a unique attribute here. We really enjoyed this dish-it was the clear highlight of the meal-but we couldn't finish it all due to entrees arriving. The chicken pot pie mac was enormous for one person. We didn't even finish a quarter of it. The crust was fabulously done and the ingredients inside the pie were quality, but the gravy flavor was overwhelmed by the cheese. I suspect toning down the amount of macaroni inside the pie and upping the amount of other items would do the trick. I only saw three pieces of carrot, for example. The flavors were all there, but it was more reminiscent of pot pie on the tongue, despite the faithful pot pie appearance to the eye. The grilled cheese sandwich was a huge disappointment. I added a fried egg for about $2 and I'm pretty sure there was more egg than there was cheese. Like, there was a truly abysmal amount of cheese. I had almost all of my bread left after I finished eating. The fries were also just normal. This, of course, was coming after the fabulous sweet potato fries in the poutine so there was pretty much no way they'd stack up against that. The cup of tomato basil soup was also a no-go for us. There was a bit of cilantro sprinkled on top but no basil flavor to speak of. Plus chunks of celery. What? In my tomato soup? We didn't even finish half of a cup. It was a lot of food, quantity wise. And the menu was so so so exciting. But the meal peaked with the appetizers and was over $50 pre-tip without alcohol or desserts. So I'll be inspired by their dream and recommend it, but maybe from afar myself. read more

A Winooski staple, we have loved the variety of macs at Our House. In January, we ordered Shrimp Scampi and Jambalaya Macs for takeout. Jambalaya was definitely superior... The Shrimp Scampi was light on shrimp and, frankly, overall flavor. And it's nearly impossible to finish in one sitting, so you get two meals out of it. In my opinion, the Pumpkin Eater, Turkey Day, and Brisket Gouda Macs are the absolute best. Fresh ingredients and interesting recipes and textures (seeds and berries??) put mom's mac and cheese to shame. Which may make my complaint a bit confusing, but hear me out. To begin with, these macs are not side dishes, they're easily two meals. When we looked at our receipt, we were surprised to see both macs and salad we ordered were priced above the online menu ($20) which was last updated just days before, for a total extra charge of $5. My wife called to rectify the situation and was met with politeness. The first time. After a few days passed and the $5 was not refunded, she called again and was met with indignation, told that "nobody else has complained" and "we have the right prices". Further, the manager complained about the effect of the pandemic on their business. The thing is, we would have gladly paid extra if the charge matched the menus. COVID doesn't give businesses the right to charge higher prices than posted online and then blame customers for bringing the discrepancy to their attention. Yes, there is a mac 'n' cheese Nirvana, and it's in Winooski. I'm sure there are other things on the menu, but honestly I don't remember what they are. The PB&J is always a favorite, although on our most recent visit, the satay (Thai peanut sauce) seemed absent, and hopefully that was just an oversight. Never in my life have I seen it come with ciabatta bread. Drink was weak. Service was not great but she was nice. Apps came out when dinner did. Not great and frankly not a place I'd go back to. Ciabatta w chips. Ok. Someone thought that was normal and could not read the menu which says chips and never checked in after 1.5 minutes. Poutine looked good but came out w dinner so didn't enjoy it and yet I paid a small fortune for all the food and two drinks and dessert. I left so upset. My kid took care of the bill. I tried to go to downtown Burlington for dinner, but decided to check out Winooski as downtown was swamped at 8pm for some reason on a weekday evening. I'm really glad that i decided to come here because the food is awesome! I absolutely cherished the twists on mac and cheese. I ordered the Poutine Mac & Cheese and my brother ordered the Cheeseburger(basic). I would suggest bringing a third wheel, because the servings are so much. The prices also range from 13-23 dollars. I couldn't take mine to go because the hotel I was staying at didn't have a fridge(Hilton) It's really super tiny space inside and you might feel cramped so try to get seated outdoors. Its probably the best choice if you asked me Thee only issue that was very troublesome being there was then confusion of who was actually our server. The ladies were dressed in similar black attire with black cut off short-shorts and came around to fill our water glasses and bring our beverages. I don't think our male server actually ever gave us his name, which may have added to the confusion.
