Scariest bus ride, EVER. There is sleet, snow, icy roads and driver is speeding (70mph in 55mph zone) under these very hazardous road conditions from DC TO NYC. Nice price but not worth the risk. Our Bus contracted with Chariots for Hire bus & driver for this trip. THE DRIVER The Chariots For Hire driver is texting while driving. He is not keeping eyes on road. And there is alot of swerving & tailgating. Reported this unsafe, risky driving to customer service & I think they called him. But he just kept chatting, speeding & tailgating. THE BUS The frightful driving is in addition to the fact that this bus broke down & had to be towed. So we waited in Columbia Md for an hour before a backup bus arrived. The transistion was smooth. Our Bus is a good price. But, in the future, I'll AVOID the "Chariots For Hire" contractor when possible. read more

Solid 4 for price and mostly pro factors. 1 star deducted due to timing. Good thing I wasn't in a rush but if you are, book at least 2 hrs ahead (ie. if you need to get to your destination by 8, take a bus that drops you off at your destination between 5:30-6 in case you hit traffic or the drivers need to change. Ourbus from NYC to Worcester was packed but I was able to get my own seat. Loved that there is water on board and I could charge my phone. The Wifi wasn't strong - couldnt load most of my browsers (gmail, google searches). The ride took way too long. Bus was about 15 min late to depart (good for anyone who was running late) and i arrived to my destination about 80 min late. Amtrak hasn't been on time the past few times i took it (1 hr late from new haven to NYC!) so i thought a direct bus would be better. PROS - poland spring single water bottles on board - outlet to charge - seats had space between yours and the person in front -super friendly drivers (although 1 had to switch out, he said he couldnt legally drive XX amount of time with over XX people?) - easy onboarding experience - checked bags were separated by destination so it was easy to get after - skilled driving, i could eat my food in peace without it jumping at me read more

Worst bus service I have EVER had. I would give this 0 stars if I could. I booked my trip 2 weeks in advance. Less than 48 hours before the trip I get this message: "Dear Passenger, Due to a schedule change our Miami bus now has different departure time. Our pickups and drop off at the following stops have changed. Tampa, FL - Sarasota, FL - Fort Myers, FL - Fort Lauderdale, FL - Miami Airport, FL Please check our website for revised time. If you would like to reschedule your ticket for a new time, please let us know and we can gladly issue you new tickets. If these times no longer work for you, we can offer a full refund. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. Thank you again for using OurBus. OurBus Team" I message the company and they literally copy and paste the same message. I had a departing and return bus. They were unable to tell me that BOTH were canceled when speaking to them snd led me to believe that only Sunday was canceled. I get to the station on the departure and it cannot be found. I call them and they yell at me claiming to have sent a message. 15 minutes I receive the email screenshot attached. I call them and the next bus was 9 hours later. And it turns out that my return was not rescheduled on their part either! No apologies, no offer for discount, no explanation, nothing. NEVER AGAIN. In a search for bus tickets to Philly as a weekend bday/ family reunion getaway trip with the family I came across our bus and of course did my review research via yelp and Facebook and fell in love with the reviews. The process of downloading the app and making the account was pretty awesome and I adore the marketing idea for the 10$ referral. I told my friends this is the Uber of buses, such a dope idea must be millennials. Customer Service: 5 stars Bus Driver was very polite and put all of the bags under the bus, he also announced all of the info before taking off. The bus left on time and it was overall good vibes Bathroom: 5 stars The bathroom was one of the best I've ever seen on a bus cleanliness wise, I even sat towards the back and didn't get that stinky bathroom smell Seating: 5 stars The seats were comfy and clean, they reclined and had a good amount of space even to put your bag underneath the seat it fit perfectly. It wasn't super packed and everyone looked very comfortable. The bus smelled nice and clean and had a nice welcoming vibe, a little sad I didn't get my free water lol My only suggestions would be discounted prices for children, loyalty and or reward programs Overall Bus Experience: I enjoyed the entire experience of our bus you guys have gained a keeper! After reading negative reviews I still went ahead and took a chance with this shameless company. I attempted to cancel my ticket from NYC to Washington DC way ahead of the 60 minute deadline. Upon logging into their site, I informed the chat that I would be cancelling. The chat responded by asking me multiple times if I was certain I would be cancelling. After I responded with "yes," the chat sent me the tailored amount of my refund (minus the fees). I thought the process was completed. When I didn't receive written confirmation of my cancellation via email, I communicated with the chat again and this time a live person took over and informed me that I was not eligible for a refund or even a credit, because I missed the time deadline to cancel and I did not follow the steps to cancel. So even though the chat provided me with a refund amount and did not provide any further clear instructions, I the customer must take full blame and lose $51. The company doesn't have enough courtesy to provide at least a credit for a future ride. This company is desperate. I WILL NEVER USE THEIR SERVICES EVER AGAIN IN LIFE. read more

Horrible experience left at 11:95 Sat Aug 20 no street address s/b near 168 E 44 not E.44 st East 44 is long, guessing in 3rd Ave got it right as a 60 year lifer in NYC got to AC @ 2:15PM instead of the 1:45pm like in the scheduled time to then find out I have to be back at 4pm Bus Station 4 because if traffic i lost a half an hour didn't see the boardwalk got $20 from Caesars to play on previous Tropicana name played it in 4 minutes in the $ .01 machine @15 lost it all in 4 minutes the Mexican restaurant in the Tropicana was excellent Taco Bella the trip was worth $2. Went on a trip with them to Hartford even after reading some negative reviews. We at least made it but it was the most stressful experience. At 2:00, the bus still had not arrived and we were waiting with about 20 people at the stop. It was not until 20 minutes later that someone walked around and found the confused bus driver a block and a half away because she said the company would not communicate with her about how to get to the stop. She was about to just leave us if we hadn't found her. So we left 30 minutes late, yet we still ended up at our destination somehow 2 hours after the ETA. I know traffic was bad, but that should be factored in so people know what to expect. It was $35 total for two people one way though, so I guess you get what you pay for. read more

Ourbus has bad service! On Saturday, July 16, I was supposed to catch one of your buses to DC, but the bus was not at the location provided when I bought the ticket, at least a bus driver there sent me to a different location. There, too, they sent me to yet another location. Therefore, I missed my bus and had to book a different trip with another company at a different time. It was inconvenient: it cost me time, money, and a missed meeting in DC. I tried to contact Ourbus but there was no way to reach them, and they had no kiosk for information. I reached out to customer service and they would issue a refund. I asked to talk to a manager and they told me that it wouldn't make any difference, that it would only "escalate" the situation. That's not how you talk to a customer. That's just bad service! read more

I booked OurBus from NYC to DC departing at 7:30pm on a Tuesday night. Not impressed. I checked, double checked, and then triple checked via the website chat what the pickup location was. I arrived at the location at 7:09pm and saw a marked OurBus at the pickup location. The driver stated that his bus was going somewhere else and that I didn't need to be there for another 20 minutes. I confirmed for the 4th time that this was the pickup location for the DC bus. He confirmed it was. So I left. When I returned 10 minutes later, the same driver then told me the bus going to DC was a block away and marked "Haymarket." Awesome. I passed that bus the first time I was there. By the time I got on the bus, there was one seat left - right next to the sickest person traveling that night. Perfect. As an added bonus, presumably to keep the bus clean, the driver had placed garbage bags around the handles of the seats on the aisle seats, but only on one side. So, I got to sit next to someone else's stinky, nasty trash for the whole ride. Add to that the cramped seating and I'm just not impressed. The website and booking was easy, but overall, I'm not sure how OurBus has done so well on Yelp. read more

On December 10,2023 I was booked for the 6 pm PANY to Boston bus. However, although the bus was standing at Gate 21, passengers were not allowed to board. The departure time on the app had been changed to 7 pm. I called Our Bus at 6463927565 and the rep told me there had been a sickness on the previous trip, that a passenger had thrown up and so the bus was delayed. I asked the rep how passengers from 6pm and 7 pm would be accommodated, he said that was the company's responsibility. OURBUS emailed: "We regret to tell you that due to an operational reason, your trip has been delayed by 1 hour and will now start at 7:00 PM. ". At 7pm the driver told me the delay was because he had not been able to take his break. On board I counted at least five empty seats at the back. So apparently we were delayed because there were insufficient passengers. I reached Boston close to midnight. I am filing a complaint with the MA DOT about this unfair practice and request an investigation of OurBus practices. Also, as with the Quincy-NYC OurBus I took on December 8, 2023, the electric chargers do not work. The Quincy bus has no heating or internet and the driver is continuously on the phone while driving. Irresponsible rude agents and system. Every time I ride with this company something happens. I was scheduled for a bus and drove an hour and 30 minutes to the bus station. I arrived 20 minutes early and I got a email 20 minutes before the bus was scheduled to leave that it was cancelled. Ourbus wasted my time and money, since I had to pay tolls coming to the bus stop and leaving the bus stop. The tolls totaled $20!! When I contacted Ourbus, the agent who took my call rescheduled my trip, but I was never reimbursed for the extra money they made me waste, since I had to pay the toll again the next day!! $40 wasted on tolls, $20 of which I shouldn't have had to pay! The agent tried to offer me $5 off of my next trip and that was the best and all he could do. Why would I want to book again with a company so irresponsible? Then he changed it to $10 off! My answer is still the same, I want my wasted money back, but funny how he was able to change his offer after saying he couldn't!! I asked to speak to a manager and repeatedly asked if they would definitely call me back, and the agent said yes! However I NEVER GOT A CALLBACK UNTIL 2 WEEKS LATER I HAD TO CALL THEM BACK about another issue! The agent I called before told me the buses wait 5 minutes until they leave, so I got there a minute before due to other circumstances I couldn't come earlier! However I arrive to see the bus leaving! When I spoke to agents this time, I was told over and over again the same information basically they don't believe it's their fault, however it's clear this bus company is irresponsible from previous trips, and they don't believe you when you tell them that another agent said something different, they all talk like they all know each other, saying "we" do not say that, I'm sorry but how do you know what another agent said to me?? They also speak over you, and never answer any questions, just ignore it altogether and repeat their same script even when the script doesn't apply. These agents are definitely able to reschedule a trip, the company is just money hungry and their agents don't want to admit their managers are actually available, they just tell you they aren't available. Let's see if the manager will call me back this time, apparently the first agent didn't put in my request the first time I called, another example of how irresponsible and badly trained they are. read more

After my last negative experience, they gave me a coupon for $13 off my next ride. I tried them again and this time they broke my luggage handle. The bus driver put my luggage on the top left and I could see that it was too near to where the trunk door hinge closes and when I got my luggage back, the handle was destroyed because the trunk door slammed onto my luggage handle and destroyed it. TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK: First bus to Washington DC was okay. Bus arrived a little later than what was scheduled but got an email speaking about this. Bus driver and accompanying employee were kind and helped with bags. Coming back to New Brunswick was hell. Bus was set to depart at 12:50 but a bus didn't show up until 12:55 (understandable). They load us on the bus with no help with bags and a very substandard way of checking people in. We get on the bus and wait for 35 minutes with 0 to no explanation of what is going on. We're told to call costumer service if we have complaints. This wasn't the worst part nor did I mind the waiting. It's now around 6:30 (bus was set to arrive at New Brunswick around 4:30) and the bus driver is unaware of where we are going and where the stop in New Brunswick is. Passengers have to yell that we are going the wrong way and to turn around, basically directing him where to go. Not only are we behind by 2 hours due to waiting at the terminal and traffic (which is uncontrollable, I understand) but we're behind now because the bus driver is unaware about where the stop is. 2 stars are given because of the amazing bus ride I had down to Washington DC without issue, none are given to the bus right I had back. Edit: Bus landed in New Brunswick around 7:05 PM, attached is the photo and how far south we went after the bus driver missing the Rutgers University exits. I'm going to leave more than one review for when I take this bus service again just to cross reference. I saw a lot of negative reviews, so I was hesitant but they had the cheapest tickets for my trip from DC to Newark. First, there aren't many transportation services that stop in newark outside of greyhound and Amtrak, so I appreciate that. I arrived at the pickup location at the time of departure so I'm grateful the bus didn't leave without all passengers. Wouldn't expect that, so it's a plus. I don't have much comment on anything else. Even with a couple of stops we arrived in Newark 45 min early! I will never be mad at that. In fact, I got home by the time we were supposed to arrive. The only problem with the arrival was that we were dropped off in a location different than what the app said. Not far, just not the right place so I ended up having to call a second Uber. Again, I'll be taking this service again and will update. Definitely take into account negative and positive reviews before making a decision, but all was good for me! Took one star off for the drop off location, I don't think there was wifi on board, and the bus could be a tad bit cleaner. read more

I will never book with our OurBus again after learning my lesson. I still don't understand how I could have missed the Syracuse to Ithaca bus after traveling by bus in multiple counties, even before I had a smartphone. What makes this worse is that I had a friend who has lived in the city for 3 years drop me off and tell me exactly where to stand to catch the bus; and I arrived 30 mins early and made sure to track the bus on their app. The GPS tracker on the app told me the bus was in the location I was standing, but I saw nothing...which had me baffled because it's really hard to miss a huge bus. When I finally realized that this bus was not coming, I freaked out and frantically figured out another way to reach my location because I remember seeing that the next bus was like 5-7 hours later and would be at night. When I contacted customer service a few days later, they told me the bus in question had come, and if I had contacted them earlier, they would have put me on the next bus. I communicated my concerns to them (about waiting 5-7 hours for a bus I wasn't sure would even come), showed my Uber costs putting me at the location in question and couldn't even get a refund. After being told there is nothing they can do for me, I consider this a lesson learned. The interesting thing is that I ended up taking the Flix bus from Ithaca to NYC with no problems. The driver was probably nastiest person I've ever experienced in the 17 years I've taken buses between the DMV and NYC. He was rude and abrasive to my almost 70 year old mother and myself on the 7:00 PM ride on Friday October 18, 2019 leaving from NYC to Columbia, MD. We decided to do our best to keep our composure but I was almost to the point of tears when my mother got out to stretch her legs on the first stop and he accused her of taking HER OWN BAGS OUT OF THE BUS (which she didn't, he did). Once she displayed her confusion, he goes to her "get back on the bus!". Unbelievable. Before the ride started, we were talking to the very kind young man that was with us before the bus arrived and works for the company. The driver accused us of complaining about his no coffee/tea rule upon entering the bus. We left the topic long before. Small mind, huge ego. Terrible, terrible. Tell all your friends not to take this bus. Such a shame since the ride was so convenient to where we were located in Maryland. And a beautiful bus too. At one point the driver said "you can email the company and call them right now!" in response to what he felt was us talking behind his back. If he felt so comfortable saying that, of his own volition without us promoting him to say so, that means the company likely won't take action. I have a picture of the bus's DOT number and the back of his license plate, since we were seated in the front and the plate was displayed in window. This is by far the worst experience I have had with bus company. Port authority has designated gates and ourbus will show up at one of them. However, 5 minutes before the schedule departure time, the bus already move to a different location with no one attending the gate. We have 6 people couldn't find anyone and the bus just left. The most outrageous experience come when we try to contact customer support and it's all denial and dodging. For other folks traveling, I will suggest you to choose a established company like Peter Pan/greyhound with adequate ground support. read more

The company then offered a credit for future travel. Finally, the company refunded the amount paid for their tickets but did not reimburse the amount it cost to get home after they stranded us. My experience with Ourbus has been excellent! It's a shame that anger and frustration bring people to leave reviews more often then satisfaction. My route was Cincinnati to Chicago 11/27/19- our driver Earl was courteous, helpful and extremely punctual. Despite there only being a handful of passengers, his customer service did not waiver. Also, it was extremely windy out and the driver handled the turbulence well. I would absolutely recommend Ourbus to a friend. Only suggestion to this specific bus carrier--ditch the back of seat organizers. You lose leg room and they look worn out on an otherwise very high end bus. My daughter booked an advance ticket from Ithaca to White Plains. Her Bus was reschedule 2 hour before 2.15 pm departure- due to mechanical failure. Likely over booking in busy schedule day. Then 5 hours later at 7.30 pm - reschedule again via e mail for the second time same day at 9.30 pm which was cancelled- via e mail minutes before- stranding her for no available way of getting out of Ithaca missing flight next day. Likely over book and cancel those who buy early cheaper tickets and when the date or time comes closer sell high price tickets cancelling cheaper and earlier ones by such means. I am reporting them to DOT as well. Will tell everyone do not use this company. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THIS BUS SERVICE. on 8/11/2019, I boarded a bus from DC to NY at 3:20 pm. First thing - The bus shows up almost an hour late. Second thing - The bus driver was some sort of lunatic or on drugs or something. Third thing - The back left tire caught a flat and we had to wait about two hours to get it fixed. FOURTH MAJOR THING - We went about another 30 miles to hit Delaware. People on the bus were hearing really loud noises from under the bus and we pleaded with the driver to stop the car but he said "it was fine, that's the noises a spare makes" After another 10 minutes the noises got louder and I see the tire fling out of the bus and on to the highway! We waited another 2 hours and OurBus was not cooperating in getting us transportation until they had no other options. Amazing brand new bus, clean, power outlets, laminate flooring, wifi (spotty but pretty good nearing the city), DVD screens (no movie was playing). The only issue is the service, specifically the driver at 8am on Saturday 9/16 from NYC (Port Authority) to DC with a stop in NJ. He was rude when we were lined up to enter the bus, he was like "are y'all going to DC? *A handful of people start lining up* some ask "what about Columbia MD, New Brunswick NJ?" He goes "oh come on guys what you waiting for? DC it's all the same let's go". Then when it was time to load the luggage he just pointed so I could load it myself. Like sure I have a small carry on I don't mind but your job is to assist and you're not doing that or even offering to. Additionally, according to the OurBus website, snacks and water are included but not for this ride apparently. Because I didn't have time to eat breakfast I was really hoping for that but instead the driver just took off without saying a word. Yeah I'm pretty hAngry right now haha :( Would use the bus again but hoping for a better driver next time. This company is a scam, don't use it. On Nov 28 2021, there were supposed to be two buses from NYC to Boston: 1:30pm and 2pm. Neither bus arrived. I overheard the 1:30pm bus-people saying they were unable to contact customer service. I waited from 1:45pm to 3pm before I gave up and left considering I was just waiting out on the cold street with 30 other freezing, angry people (mostly students trying to get back post-Thanksgiving). At 4:28 pm, I received a text message from OurBus that said the bus had arrived at the pick-up stop, along with the driver's name, vehicle description and plate no. OurBus is stupid if they think people will wait 2.5 hours in the dark and cold for a bus. This was a ridiculous experience considering the bus ticket cost $79. After leaving the bus stop at 3pm, I went and bought a $83 Amtrak ticket instead and it was a much better experience. Lesson learned. Maybe MegaBus or Greyhound would be better? Also, I tried to email their supposed customer services, but no reply. No way of getting a refund it seems. read more
