I was near Ouri's and have had it bookmarked for a while so I stopped in. Gorgeous store. I was leaving the city the following day but I did leave with a box of the Dubai dates. They were covered in chocolate and had some pistachios. Delicious. The selection of nuts, dried fruits, and pickled things was astounding. I wanted to try the pizza but I had just eaten pizza. Ouri's Market at 1160 Third Avenue ( between 67th & 68th Streets) is a fabulous huge Mediterranean grocery store with exceptional produce and very high end meats and poultry. They also have a wonderful seafood department with a staff that has spent years working in other specialty seafood establishments. In addition Ouri's has their own organic soft ice cream, a cafe and they're constantly upgrading their menu. I happened to speak with one of the owners, who shared that soon they'll be adding their own pizza ovens. I became a loyal customer from the day they opened their store about two years ago. On today's episode of Chicken Wars, we have Ouri's. They have a few locations, but I went to the one on the Upper East Side. A whole chicken ran $25.99 which made me want to swallow a cactus. I felt like I took a baseball bat to the liver or got hit by a spinning back elbow from jon jones. Nonetheless, I'm here to find the best tissi, regardless of price. As much as I wanted to hate it due to the price point, this chicken went CRAZY. Tender breast, great leg, elite skin. My only critique is that there wasn't a lot of flavor in the meat itself, but it was still operating at a high level. I scored it 8.5/10, which ranks it tied for 5th with Wegmans out of 30 grocery stores I have currently tried. You could get 2.6 Wegmans chickens for this price, but that's neither here nor there. I must have walked by Ouri's Market so many times and didn't think to stop in. I have family just a few blocks away and I missed this gem. A kosher grocery store, with a coffee/ smoothie bar. The store is a bit pricey, typical for the neighborhood. On my first visit I found amazing produce, a great selection of breads, yogurts, dips. I have not tried any of the prepared foods yet and didn't purchase anything from the butcher department, but the quality of meats impressed me. Welcome to the Erewhon of the Upper East Side! Granted I never been to Erewhon but in my minds eye, this is what it's like. Ouri's is a great market and not crazy overpriced if you shop correctly. Their prepared foods and packaged deli meats (turkey) are terrific, as is their lox (vodka lox IYKYK), and desserts. They have full lines of specialty yogurts that other stores only have a few of. The produce is beautiful, but stick to the exotic - Pink Pineapple, Lychee Nuts, etc. Their house dips and salad dressings are very good. Their truffle cream cheese is delish! The bagels are a bit too doughy for me. I wouldn't come her for a quart of milk or a bag or potato chips, although their chip selection is great! Walked in on 9/9/25 to the cafe and one girl with over inflated lip fillers and a lip piercing stared directly in my face and rolled her eyes at me and another young looking girl with a bang stood there staring at me as well. I said HELLO how are you!? To break the ice and to make the interaction less awkward but it was super uncomfortable. The interaction felt very racist to me. I just wanted to order a coffee, no one ever asked me what I would like or anything. We all just stood there, I'm disappointed that this was the only cafe nearby and I wanted an Americano really bad but I walked out. I don't recommend this space for women who look like me unless you want to be stared down and laughed at for no particular reason AND with no service. I went to pick up some lunch today. I like their prepared foods that are cold and ready to eat. Their 2 salmon meals with various vegetables and sauces are good. It was my first time in here today. Now maybe I came on an off day but when I walked in and went my produce it was kinda messy with boxes on the floor and shopping carts filled with product that looked like it was about to be put on the shelf. This is an all kosher supermarket which is cool and a good addition to the area. All the produce looked fresh. They have interesting selection of products, pre-packaged foods and other products. I saw they had a Hot dog wrapped in waffle for 22.00. I saw on some other reviews how the prices were crazy here. I did not buy anything but a decafe Iced latte which was $5.55. I swear I thought it was going to be like a 8.00 drink. The barista was nice. Before you even walk into this store there are carts outside with rolls of plastic bags for produce attached to tje cart. Cool idea but that is alot of carts and alot of rolls of plastic bags. Aren't we trying to use less plastic?! If I am in the area maybe I will come back but not rushing to go back. read more

There's a new supermarket Ouri's just opened on E67th and 3rd Ave. It's a big space. They sell fruits, meats, vegetables, canned goods, prepared packaged meals like salad, packed cookies and chocolates. They also have fresh pastries at the front. A lot of items don't have prices listed on them yet. They're still stacking the shelves. It looks so new and clean. They are kosher. They close at 4pm on Fridays and are closed all day on Saturdays for Sabbath. Opens at 8am Sun-Fri. read more

I do not live in the UES, my friend Rochelle does and shops here for fish, specifically, salmon and hummus. Thus, this review is simply a quick visit based on my curiosity as to how UES shop. To put it simply, Ouri's, is an upscale Kosher market. It carries everything from fruit, to salads, to Mediterranean cuisine, you get the picture. Rochelle picks up a dragonfruit and exclaims "Look how gorgeous"... Yes it is but the prices are not.. Seriously, ground beef at @$18 a pound? $60 for a pound of baby lamb chops?! I'm probably out of my depth here but I cannot justify paying these exorbitant prices.. I understand the need to buy Kosher...and bight quality.. The store's product is nicely presented but the layout is a bit compact; entering the store to the right, the checkout area is tight as you try to navigate to produce. There is a saying "When in Rome you do as the Roman's do". I guess that might be applicable to supermarket shopping on the UES. read more

The half rotisserie chicken was not fully cooked. The checkout person so so rude and she made me bag my own stuff. I had to keep bending down to get stuff out of the basket and I have a bad back. The store is overpriced to a level that is actually hilarious, unsustainable and candidly insulting. There is a prepared food counter featuring a ~$25 dollar pre packaged plate of chicken nuggets (maybe a dozen standard nuggets). There were even a few $30 dollar standard pre packaged items. The prices here made the Hamptons grocery scene look reasonable. It's a shame because the store is clean, organized well and a needed feature to the neighborhood. Ouri's can do better. read more

It's a beautiful market full of lovely food, but most items do not have prices on them, and then when you get to the register the price you thought may have applied to the item (since it was listed right below it), was apparently not accurate and the correct price is 3x as much. I asked why they don't have prices especially in the produce section and the guy just smiled and said "every customer asks that". And they charge a fee for credit card use which is insane for a grocery store. So I tried to used cash but was told that register didn't accept cash. It's a racket. Feels like a hectic bazaar without organization and sadly one is left feeling like they purposely don't want us knowing the prices. read more

Ouris has good fresh produce, and some shelf products are fairly priced; many are highly priced, common with kosher markets. They also CHARGE FOR CREDIT CARD USE - even though that is the primary or only form of payment. I know of no other "supermarket" that charges for use of a credit card; it is obviously built into their pricing, but Ouris pricing is so high it must already account for credit card fees. Most shoppers don't seem to notice the credit card charge...and perhaps they don't care? read more

Food is way overpriced - EVERYTHING! Even for the UES! I don't et Kosher and other kosher food in markets in the neighborhood I do know is much less priced and just as good quality. If you want specialty foods that can't be found elsewhere and are imported, then those will naturally cost more. But $26 for a rotisserie chicken that is not half as good as a Whole Foods chicken? And prepackaged waffle candies for $23 for 4? this is nothing special kiddos- Go to Balduccis and specialized fish markets for half the price and same or better quality. It was also crowded, with boxes in the middle of the aisles and hard to navigate. And the packders/staff didn't speak English and were not in the least bit helpful. And the bagels- the biggest doughiest lump of overpriced tasteless dough I ever ate in NYC. Who wants a bagel that thick and huge with no hole in it? This place is so expensive most items don't even have prices! As if to say, "if you have to ask, you can't afford it". When you do manage to find out the price, you will think they are kidding; they are not. It's perfectly nice food and expensive, but, it shouldn't be , we flew this in a private jet, overnight, from Paris expensive. I'm used to gourmet food pricing but, this is insulting. Their store made appetizers (pesto pizzas and chicken biurekhas) were terrible. Bourrkhas were sooo doughy and chopped chicken was very salty. I have visited twice and was very impressed by the quality of the food - but - much of it is unpriced so until you get it scanned you don't know how expensive it might well be. Also, someone told me that they charge a surcharge for using credit cards - I didn't believe it, but on checking my receipt today on a $17 bill they added $0.54!!! I have never seen such a thing before - they are already somewhat expensive so to tack this on is not acceptable. I do not know if it is even legal, so cannot comment on that but it seems wrong to me. read more
