My husband called Outback this morning because we were coming in with a party of 8 at 5:30 pm. I heard the conversation, and the person on the other end said no problem, they would be able to handle this at that time. Because of some medical needs by a family member, it was important that there would be little to no wait time. We arrived at Outback a few minutes before 5:30. I thought LD the hostess my husband had called this morning for a party of 8. She asked her name and appeared to check her screen. She said they would be setting up our table and it would updated be just a few minutes. I will note an entire side of the restaurant was empty. 15 minutes later, we are still waiting. As we are waiting, a party of four was seated, then a party of five. I understand that they might have had four tops open, so I'm trying to be understanding, but I do not see anyone setting up our table. I do see three servers congregated around the hostess talking and joking. The relative with the medical condition is upset at this point and we decide to leave. I went to the hostess to say we are leaving, and she consults with a server. Apparently, they were waiting for two parties of 8 to leave but who were lingering. The server starts pushing two four tops together, and the hostess threw a cleaning towel on the table. They then both walk away. By this time everyone but me had left the restaurant. I did ask to talk to the manager and shared our experience. The manager indicated they did not take reservations (so...why did the hostess ask my name and what was the hostess checking when I came in?). It was a terrible experience. It was supposed to be a birthday dinner for a relative who had selected this restaurant and who had driven an hour just for this experience. We went to Logan's Restaurant where we were seated immediately and served promptly. I now understand why half the restaurant was empty. read more

All the steaks were over cooked. I had the prime rib and it was close to well done. Waiting on the staff was like sitting in a doctor's office never knew when they would come around. I had better serves from the flies than the wait staff. The waiter helped the lovely young women fast. The flies could have gotten are drinks faster. Went on a Friday night and honestly was surprised it wasn't busier. The food was really good, the service was attentive without being overbearing, and the restaurant was clean and comfortable. Tried to give the Outback another chance but shouldn't have. Was first told by the smart ass waiter they were out of complimentary bread. Then when I tried to order a ribeye, he replied they were all out of the big steaks. We ordered a bloomin onion and asked if it could be brought out first. The waiter replied yes and that this was not his first rodeo. Should have walked then. I ordered a filet, cooked medium and I received it rare. I waited 15 minutes for our waiter to come back. When he finally returned, he replied, I will get a manager, I had to make salads. Ambiance in the restaurant was the Polar Cap. It was so cold! We were not the only one's complaining. You like shoe leather with green motor oil? Then by all means, order their chimichurri filet. Nastier even than it sounds. My dog refused to eat it even with leaving off the "sauce." I have been to Argentina many times and know what chimichurri tastes like. This meal was an abomination! read more

Truly a disappointment! When we arrived the place was close to empty but we still were told there would be a 10 to 15 minute wait. Once seated our server, Amber, introduced herself. We said we were celebrating my granddaughters 3rd birthday. She said happy birthday and took our drink order, which she messed up. I had to ask several times for the water i ordered. We had a blooming onion which was good. The male server who brought it out brought additional sauces which was great. Kids split a lunch special burger with Mac&cheese. Daughter got a steak and shrimp meal. And i ordered the endless soup and salad lunch special. For not a lot of people being there, it took awhile to get our food. My daughter said her meal was good. Nothing amazing but decent. The kids burger seemed decent. The mac and cheese was kind of dry. Biggest disappointment was my endless soup and salad. I opted for the chili which has a$4 up charge and Caesar salad. The lettuce was a bit soggy but edible. The chili was so salty i had to send back and opted for the French onion instead. It took so long to get a replacement everyone at the table finished while i still waited. The soup came out and the cheese was hardly melted. Again just so salty! I couldn't even finish. And because Amber appeared to also be playing bartender, we just weren't given an option for the "endless" anything. And to boot, even though i sent back the chili we were still charged the additional $4 for chili I sent back! Service was lousy. Bathroom only had one working soap dispenser and neither of the paper towel dispensers worked. Wait time was horrific. We won't be back. read more

Had dinner with friends last night..we started with a Blooming onion..It came out over cooked very small and the greasiest blooming onion we've ever seen... couldn't finish it because of how greasy it was...salad came out and it was doused in dressing and made the salad limp..we ordered BEEF ribs but they tasted like pork plus they were too spicy couldn't finish because they were gross tasting...mashed potatoes were delivered cold..sent back and the next potatoes were luke warm. Husband's baked potato was over cooked. The only thing good about the evening was the time spent with friends. We will never eat at Outback again..a waste of hard earned $. Our bill was $50, just for ours not including our friend's bill. DEFINITELY not worth it. I'm so done with the Outback restaurant. If I could give zero stars I would. 3 different parts of our order was wrong. No mushroom on an entre, "mixed" vegetables was literally just carrots, and no cheese on a Cesar salad (so just lettuce). Absolutely the worst place to eat in Cape Girardeau!! The bathrooms were disgusting...sewer smell, which has been like that for weeks, service was slow, waitress never came to check on us and refill our drinks. First off It's a chain, but sometimes the comfort of childhood dining lures you in. You know it won't be innovative per se, but you remember fondly dining there as a kid and celebrating life events with family there. So this was my first trip here in 10 years. We walked in the door and were pleased with what seems a recent remodel. It was a little brighter than it used to be, which was nice! We were seated quickly and got our drinks fast. We ordered steak, which also came pretty quick. However, we did not ever get our bread before the meal. Tables all around had it, but not us. My meal did not include the included baked potato. I had to ask about it and was told it did not come with it. Further searching of the menu online confirmed I should have a potato and requested it be brought out. The food was good, but I have had better on the Pitboss at home. I think Outback will stay a once every 10 years to never kind of place for me. Not worth spending $70 on in my opinion. But judge for yourself, you could have better luck! read more

Called ahead to get on the wait list. The wait was 10 minutes and we were 5 minutes away. Got a table about 3 minutes after we arrived! Logan was our waitress! She was wonderful. Outback was crazy busy but we got our salads right away. Had to wait a bit for our meal but Logan would stop and explain the wait which wasn't bad for as busy as they were. Food was wonderful! I had the Salmon and my husband had prime rib. Both were wonderful! I told Logan my husband's birthday was the day before and she brought him a carrot cake, which he loves. Found out Logan just got off of training 5 days earlier and we were amazed. She did a wonderful job! Will definitely come back next time we're in the area!! read more

The only bright spot in our dining experience was our waitress. She was so professional in spite of difficult circumstances. We ordered a blooming onion, it came out so greasy we couldn't eat it. I ordered a 6 oz. filet cooked medium, when our waitress saw the raw meat on my plate she immediately apologized and took it back to make it right. If there was a zero rating, that's what i would've chosen. The blonde host had moved tables right in front of us and left a bunch of chairs in the way so we had to move them. They had forgot a ceaser salad that what had ordered and when we got our food one of the steaks we ordered was supposed to be medium and it was beyond rare. When we had told the server, he had them cook the steak again and it was STILL rare. They obviously just took the steak and seared the side we cut into. Another steak we ordered was super fatty to the point where we had basically another steak on the plate. This was an awful experience and still had to pay full price. The absolute worst service I've ever had. Server went missing at multiple points in the evening.....once as long as 20 minutes. Not one refill until our meal was over and then she suggested to go cups. Steak was TERRIBLE. Ordered medium, came out extremely rare. Server took it back to the kitchen so they could char it, then it was basically inedible charcoal bits. First, I would like to say, I do like trying different steakhouses whether I am at home or traveling. My friend and I went to the Outback steakhouse in Cape Girardeau on Friday the 9th of June, we went at about 3 o`clock when they are less crowded. The young man who seated us was very polite and professional all the service was exceptional. Thank you Jasmine, you are a very attentive server and yes, the next time we come in we will ask for you, you are a true delight! The bread was hot, the salad was fresh and crisp, the loaded baked potato was somewhat lacking, it was bland, and it tasted like it had been left over from the night before, it came warm, was not a "hot potato"! Our steaks were the bone in ribeye`s, both prepared as we requested, they were both hot, juicy, seasoned well and had a great flavor. The problem we had was that two steaks were small and of a poor quality. A quarter of the steaks were made up of fat and gristle, with the added bone in this took up a large portion of the steaks. We have been to the Outback in Cape Giradeau before and the bone in ribeye was my friends favorite, his previous steaks were of excellent quality. So, we were greatly disappointed to be served this low quality meat. I do understand that food cost is up, if this is a cost issue, I will gladly pay more for a good quality steak, but by serving meat of low quality your doing a disservice to you're customer`s and a great harm to the Outback name and market brand. When I first came in I was greeted very welcoming I was brought to my seat in the bar area where I then ordered a water it was brought within 30 seconds of me telling the drink to my server. I had a Cesar salad and a cup of potato soup to start off and The salad was amazing it's hard to mess up Cesar and the soup was amazing one of the better potato soups I've had. The server came back at a good timely manner to take my food order my ribeye was cooked perfectly along with the grilled shrimp. It was pricy but that's what comes with good steak. Ate here while staying next door at the Pear Tree Inn. Very convenient as it is so close. I walked over and ordered in the restaurant for a to go order. Had a glass of wine while waiting. All the employees I came in contact with were very nice and the food was ready really quickly. We both had the prime rib sandwiches and the were really delicious. My wife and I decided to treat ourselves on a Friday and get Outback Takeout. It was everything but a treat. Broccoli on both our meals was way overcooked. More like broccoli mush. My steak was tough as raw hide and flavorless. I ordered a loaded baked potato and the only thing I got for the potato was butter. My wife got chicken that was way overcooked and dried out. Came to Outback Steakhouse, Cape Girardeau location and had a very unpleasant experience. The hostess was rude and unprofessional. The place was empty and we were asked to wait 15-20 mins which was weird but we thought maybe they are understaffed. We asked about booth in the bar section and were told that's part of the wait. While we were waiting three girls came in and were seated right away at the booth. They seemed to know the hostess which is probably why they got the special treatment. Then those girls and the hostess were looking at us, whispering, and giggling. It was so weird and uncomfortable. My husband and I went there so he could get the Tuesday steak and lobster special. Waitress had personality of a wet rag! Never smiled once! We had to ask for straws, butter for potato, and she never offered more bread. His steak which was a 6oz sirloin, medium had to be chewed way too much. Food was Good. Seated at bar when place was almost empty. Bartender was great but obviously needed help. Ended having To get up and go to bar EVERY SINGLE TIME we needed anything. Refills, condiments, drinks, all of it.
