I loved my waiter. He was great. I ordered a center sirloin with sweet potatoes and steakhouse mac and cheese. The entire dish was so good. But the mac and cheese was to die for. Every bite out of that dish including the mac and cheese had so much flavor. The steak was exactly how I wanted it. Moist, juicy and tender. The sweet potatoes was delicious. The mac and cheese had a spice to it that made it taste great along with that crisp. My bill was incorrect but the waiter corrected it with no problem. I also had rushed out at the end and didn't realize I forgot my phone until the waiter came running out to give it to me. I would add an extra 10 stars for that. Great service. read more

Food was good but service was very slow! We had to flag down our waitress (who was very nice) because we felt forgotten! Apparently, our food had been ready the whole time & no one brought it to us- our nice waitress had the kitchen remake all of our food because it was cold. Very mixed visit. I had the Outback Steak. The steak was made to my order and was soft . But for my taste I did not like the spices they used. It could be they used to much of it or I just plain didn't like it. I also had potato soup which was very good. Another person ordered Chicken Tenders. The crust on the chicken was over cooked. Her salad was tasty. The hit of her meal was the side order of Mac and Cheese that she ordered. It was very tastful. The service was very good . Where we were seated we had small children on both sides of us. That also impacted the atmosphere of the meal. They were pretty noisy. read more

Service was the best part of our experience which is why I gave two stars. Unfortunately our experience was lack luster from the moment of entry. Waited about 4 minutes for a greeter to even appear. Seating was fine and we were promptly welcomed by the waitress but from there everything else was pretty subpar or completely under whelming. If your hungry, this is not the place to visit. Ordered a nice quesadilla and a healthy $10 priced burger. Turns out they don't have jalapeños for the quesadillas and I could live without them but delivery of my husbands sandwich was laughable. The overpriced bite while again tasty did not meet any expectations and didn't even come with fries... Poopoo... Too many other adequate places too choose next time over this one. read more

We were again just to try it out and see if they've improved at all. Big mistake. We've been seated at a table with a wobbly chair, waited 12 mins for someone to show up, asked to change the table, waited another 7 minutes for someone to show up. Finally left. The most disappointing part was that this was during a weekday evening and they weren't all that busy at all AND nobody in the staff seemed to care that we were leaving. Man this place has slid. It used to be a solid chain place with a few nice house prepared items and a great burger. Got it last night for take out and it was really weak. My burger was flavorless, dry and overcooked; and yet somehow cold. Wife complained her chicken sandwich and fries were likewise cold. Son wolfed down his chicken fingers, but he's a teen so??? Other disappointments were missing toppings ordered for the potato, missing bread and butter, and sauceless ribs. (Which were the best thing) read more

This is the first time I had ever been to this restaurant and I had a perfect experience! Our order includes drinks, an appetizer and a meal. All was perfect and served in a quick, timely manner. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and made helpful suggestions to us. It was a busy restaurant, and a smaller place at that. This location might night be the best for larger parties, but dinner for 2, it's perfect! I would recommend to anyone! read more

It is a good thing to have an outback in Rochester. This place is always busy and does a pretty consistent job with the food. I have never had a problem with service or food here and depend on it as a good choice when you are craving a nice hunk of meat and a delicious sweet potato and a marvelous salad for a reasonable and decent price. I typically get the chopped salad because I'm crazy about the bleu cheese and the victoria filet...but on occasion i have enjoyed the ribs and they are wonderful....They also are very cozy and can accommodate larger crowds at some of the large round tables which is very nice for everybody to see each other and communicate vs. a long table. read more

I'm not a huge steak fan, but this seems like any other outback in the country. It's clean and the service was great. I did get the burger and really liked it. We also had the onion ring thing, and the half order was massive. I wouldn't order it again- the breaking wasn't crispy enough for my taste. You can pay online which is really cool. The place was pretty packed on a Saturday evening. My husband enjoyed his steak. I'd come back next time he craves their steak :) read more

We went to the Outback last Thursday night for supper. We'd had a very busy day, were tired, and didn't want to look for something unique. I love the Outback grilled salmon so ordered that with garlic mashed potatoes and a salad. My husband ordered the chopped steak with baked sweet potato and mixed veggies. Our waitress was attentive and funny. Our order arrived promptly and the order was correct. In Rochester for the week-end on business. Had dinner Saturday night, was seated under a air conditioned fan, so cold. Asked to have the fan turned off or down. Happened for 10 minutes and then the air was blasted on again. Waitress called us guys all evening. I don't enjoy slang. Will not go back. Many other places to eat. We had a wonderful experience last Friday (3/30). We were visiting from out of town and just wanted food we knew and would {hopefully} love. So here we went. It was an early dinner on a Friday night but we were greeted and seated right away. Katie was our server and she was so sweet, attentive, and helpful! We were starving so we got a ton of food. Crab cakes were awesome! Bloomin onion, of course, so good. Entrees (Alice Spring Chickens) amazing. All of the food came out quick and so fresh. The lettuce in the salad was fresh, the rolls were hot, and our main meals were super hot. Drinks were always full. We left stuffed and super pleased. We literally had no complaints! Had lunch today with a friend. French onion soup was delicious as was her potato soup. The caesar salads were very wilty and barely edible. I ate about 2 bites. Worse one I've had in forever. Leftover lettuce I would say. And it was very cold in there to try to eat. Glad the soup was hot! read more

This place has been inexplicably crowded every time I have gone there, even in the middle of the week. It is very noisy. The service is marginal (the beer I ordered when I sat down didn't arrive until after the appetizer came, and even then I had to remind the waitress). The waitress brought one small loaf of bread for 4 adults and one child. Our Blooming Onion was overcooked and nearly burned. The beer selection is weak. The food is good or better -- prime rib I had was good, the garlic mashed potatoes were okay, and the blue cheese wedge salad was excellent. You pay for it, though. Our meal totaled $159. Timberlodge was much better, but sadly has closed down, leaving only Outback if you want a "family style" steakhouse in Rochester. For my money, go to Hubbell House in Mantorville instead. read more

This outback location is the best hands down!! After a long day of appointments at Mayo my husband and I went for an early dinner. Katie the bartender was our waitress and she was fabulous! Making sure we had everything we needed, answering our many questions with a smile. Then Carlos in the kitchen helped adjust an item to meet my husband's dietary restrictions, it was delicious! And my steak - oh my goodness the ribeye was delicious - melt in your mouth no extra sauces needed!! Thank you for helping us feel at home. We asked for a table, led us to a booth, I asked them why do you ask? Ended up in half booth/table, right out side kitchen. Staff cross, even though I asked for firegrilled, got the pepper seasoning. Sweet potato overcooked. About 50% of the time it is good, For the price you pay, it should be 80% good. probably go to qwik trip, or 300 on firs next time I want a good steak. Probably won't go back for another 5 years. At least half the time we have a negative experience. read more

Wrote this before the meal which I still hope will be tasty. Sat outside waiting for 25 minutes with over 15 empty tables in the restaurant. Upon being seated, I waited for 7 minutes to be seen by a waitress. We immediately places our orders and did not receive our beverages (or bread) for another 5-6 mins to follow. I guess I expect faster service, and believe having such a long wait with so many open tables is bad management. I do not recommend this location. Update July 2016, I have since has better service and food. Giving back a star. read more

We stopped in with some out of town visitors for a quick lunch Ordered the fish tacos Alice springs chicken and quesadillas Chicken cooked to perfection great flavor with the Mushrooms and chicken with piping hot fries one of us ordered the veggies instead of fries nice texture to them cooked perfectly with great flavor Quesadillas were great and ended upbringing some home. Love it, my girlfriend and I come in all the time for dinner and occasionally order take out. Steak always cooked right, wood-fire grill, great servers and bartenders. Any problem I have ever had has been met with by a manager who always resolved the issue. read more

This is a hard review for me. I like outback as a chain. And if I was doing this review a few years ago, this rating would be higher. The bad review is based more on the service, than anything. I went there for my father in law's birthday. I showed up about 10 minutes after my wife and family, and they had ordered a blooming onion, and their drinks. Once we were all there, we placed our orders. The soup and salad came out quickly, but then we waited. And waited. And waited some more. As the frustration grew, the waitress did not come by, and in fact walked by without asking about us. We finally asked, and were told food was coming. 10 minutes later we asked for a manager. SO that was after 30 minutes after placing order. Manager was sort of pleasant, but really didn't placate us well. We did get the blooming onion and plenty of bread, the soup and salad for the two of us that ordered, but that was it. Water refills were lacking, and attention from server with any updates were also non-existant. t really was uncomfortable. In the end, we got the food, and the ended us comping about 30% of the cost, but it just was a really poor service experience. They used to be way better, friendlier, and attentive. For this encounter, the food was good once we got it, but the whole thing just sucked. We have been patrons for years, but sadly, we won't go back unless we see a change. It seems management has changed over enough, and their current culture isn't focused on us customers the way it ought to be. There are enough other choices in Rochester, that we don't need to go back unless our friends tell us it has changed. read more

Food is consistently good/average. They have good specials and some friendly staff. One negative-- the bartenders are super rude and unfriendly. I often sit at the bar when I come; their glare as I sit down is quite noticeable. I rarely hear "thank you's" or "you're welcome's." Finally, the last time I was there, I witnessed at least 2 eyesrolls during and after my ordering. I am a server and understand how frustrating complicated orders can be at times, but an extra dirty martini is not asking too much! read more

Long road trip with kids and showed up 3 minutes after closing and we were treated like royalty! The host who was slightly light in the loafers was so friendly then the server that he had help us was the best and her name was Tasha or Sasha. Thank you all so much.
