I really wish I could give this steak house a very good review buy I cannot!! The food was good but our steaks were overcooked. Hard to believe at a famous steak house! Our Caesar salads and lobster was good. Our waiter was obviously trying to perform for a bigger tip and was much too rehearsed and not genuine in his approach. He as obviously trying too hard and it really detracted from the ambiance. We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary and in the past the shared desert was complementary and in fact the server we had last year, stated that they would again be complimentary. IT WASN'T. $13.00 is not going to break me when I spent $345.00 on diner, but it might be a deciding factor when I choose this restaurant in the future or not! I have to say the steak was cooked to perfection! I was ambivalent as to the success of the steak. Very rarely have I had an excellent steak while dining out. This was perfect. The lobster tail was smallish but ok. It paled in comparison to the steak. The wine was good and the overall food was excellent. The service was very spotty. My server came to the table immediately and was super friendly. Made some suggestions and after I ordered I never saw him again until the check. (He stopped once as he was passing by and asked about the food and then hurried off). There was several wait staff and bussers and none of them checked in with me. I did have a water person stand right next to my side of the small booth waiting to deliver water to other tables.... why? There were plenty of other unoccupied spaces to stand instead of almost in my lap. Anyway, I was surprised that the manager (who was walking around) didn't prompt his floor staff to be more attentive to ALL the guests. After working in fine dining I know it isn't difficult to have a pre-shift meeting and go over customer service. It takes more than taking the order and then being nice when collecting the bill (after sitting there for a good 20 minutes with my empty plates in front of me) Such a great restaurant and the food was superb. We ordered a bunch of the sides and my favorite was the mushroom side. Place feels a little tight, but the vibe was great. Tables were a little too close to each other. Why they lose a star, you ask? Because they say they are family style, but if ONE person win your large party orders a salad, you all will be looking at them eating their salad because the steaks must arrive all together. Stopped into Ruth's Chris in Rochester for a pre-dinner drink and was seriously impressed. The bar has such a cool, upscale vibe--perfect spot to unwind before dinner. I had one of the best martinis I've ever had, and the Old Fashioned was easily one of the best in Rochester. We shared tenderloin medallions which were a disappointment. They came medium rare but within a minute on very hot plates they use they became medium well to well and given low fat content, they became chewy. Admittedly, they are difficult to make right with little margin for error but a high end steakhouse should get them perfect with their eyes closed.The garlic mash was excellent, service excellent and the bathrooms were squeaky clean. They have only been open for a month, and my first venture here was everything a well established premier steakhouse should be. Tonight, Ruth's Rochester brought back every wonderful memory and more in their food, service, and ambiance. The wine list is amazing. A price point for everyone, and a wine for every palate. Seriously, an award worthy list. Pay attention Wine Spectator. My beef filet was perfection. Serious perfection. The seafood tower was memorable. And the au gratin absolutely heavenly. Seriously traditional Ruth's offerings done right. The au gratin brought me to tears with its awesomeness. Another small, but big, thing: the seafood shell cracking tool and small forks were of the finest quality and worked perfectly. No wannabes here. We went for bread pudding for dessert. Again, well worthy of old New Orleans. One grouse, we needed to ask for a little more whiskey sauce, which was promptly provided. The after dinner coffee was rich and robust. A perfect ending. I had made a reservation well in advance, mentioning that it was our anniversary and a special night for us. The team at Ruth's Chris went out of their way to make it a "WOW!" experience for us! The hostess asked us if we had a reservation, and as soon as we said our name, they immediately welcomed us and said "happy anniversary!", and took us to our table - the table was set beautifully, and had been covered with fresh rose petals, and anniversary-themed confetti. They thanked us for choosing their establishment for our special night, and introduced our service team. Tony welcomed us by name, and then shared the specials with us before taking our drink order and walking us through a few of the menu highlights. We were served bread, and when Tony returned with the drinks, he took our orders, all the while very gracious, knowledgeable and polite. Salads were wonderfully dressed and portioned, and the Caesar salads with anchovies and freshly ground pepper were awesome! We both chose steak and lobster - and they exceeded our expectations by a mile. Perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious! Steak so tender that the knife was almost overkill - and the lobster was perfect. For years I've enjoyed MOST of the Ruth's Chris steak houses! I've stuck with them through a few ownership changes and the good ones always remained great while the bad ones closed (think Beverly Hills). So when Rochester, MN opened I had to try it. Bingo it was spot on! You are greeted with that classic RC vibe that invited you in and says stay a while. The food was absolutely perfect, and there was plenty of it. The staff is very attentative and there is absolutely nothing wrong! I mean you really can't fault this place. Needless to say I've been going since they opened, I believe it was 2024/2025. At any rate I still haven't gotten to my review.... Now for the good stuff! Here it is almost thanksgiving 2025 and we need a Thanksgiving dinner for a small group of family and friends. Of course my default was RC. I called and spoke to a gentleman named Taylor. I didn't ask his position or what he was responsible for, or anything like that. I had a few questions about the online order and he was very helpful, courteous and very professional. He helped me add some items and change some others. In really couldn't ask for more. Mind you they were getting swamped for orders. Long story short everything went off without a hitch! The turkey was out of this world and I wish they had it year round on the menu. Of course we got extra for leftovers. Sides, amazing, stuffing- mind blowing, salad- classic and the potato dishes, yam dishes and other veggies were perfection. Long story short after the holidays died down I decided to call and let the general manager know what a fantastic job this fellow Taylor did! Viola! It turns out Taylor is the general manager! Friendly hostess, and excellent wait staff. The restaurant itself has a very nice ambiance- newly remodeled, classy, upscale. The food was incredible. The crabcakes were probably the best you'll find in the midwest. The filet was incredibly tender. If there is anything "negative" to say, the seasoning was a bit salt heavy for me, but that's probably personal preference. I've only been to Ruth Chris one time but the experience was solid. Their lamb was the great highlight of our meal. We ordered the large seafood tower. At $160 that price felt fair as you get two lobsters, a crab, and lots of giant shrimp. It is mostly prepped for easy eating and all of it tasted fresh. Some important notes for anyone going in to try it: at the time we went they do not provide seafood scissors or seafood picks/skewers for getting inside the small legs. Only a large seafood fork and shell cracker. Scissors and skewers would have improved our the experience greatly. They did not refill our water once and the service was a little lacking in the knowledge department and they tried to throw out the lobster heads before we had a chance to eat them or take them home. They are a new place so this was to be expected. If you do get the seafood tower make sure you bring your own preferred tools, and make sure they do not throw away the lobster heads, those have some of the best meat. The lobster bisque was thick and decident but it had no seafood flavor compared to the competitors in town that offer it. It tasted more bready than the bread which makes me think it had burnt flour or too much four and not enough shell. We had to confirm that we didn't get the wrong soup by mistake. read more

Decided to have a nice night out which we rarely do. We had a 6:30 reservation and not many people were in the restaurant when we arrived. The restaurant started filling up quickly but we ended up in a two person booth, and once it filled up we could hardly hear each other talk. Our server took our order and our food took almost an hour to arrive, and many people that arrived after us were already getting their main courses. We just assumed that the server did not get our order in. We didn't complain and just sat patiently. We had crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and cheesecake for dessert. They are the only reason I give it a two star. In reality it should have been less. I ordered fillet (med-rare) and Scallops and my husband ordered fillet (med-rare) and lobster tail. He had eaten at a Ruth's Chris before and I had not. Most likely I will not again. My fillet came out barely cooked and my husband's came out almost well done. If you are eating at an expensive steakhouse the steak should amazing and they should know how to cook it. They offered to take mine back to the kitchen but my husband offered for us to switch. His lacked seasoning so I almost wish we would have sent them both back. We are NEVER one to complain. Usually just eat it and decide not to come back or not to order the same thing again. My scallops were chewy, probably from being served still cooking on the extremely hot plate. My husband's lobster tail was just ok but it is seafood in Rochester MN I guess. In Rochester, my girlfriend and I celebrated the most elaborate way we could think of and thought we'd break our bank to turn a hard week into a manageable one. We left completely graced, for me it was Melissa and Fredrick the and the bald bartender just being cool and chilling me out. We went to this restaurant for a celebratory dinner. The ambience and service overall were excellent. There was some disappointment with the food. We ordered the porterhouse steak for two and asked it be served rare. Unfortunately it arrived well done. The steak was immediately exchanged by the restaurant manager, who apologized profusely and then served us with the properly prepared steak which was delicious. This is the first Ruth Chris I can not recommend. I had a 4:00 PM reservation and they were unprepared to open for 20 minutes, staff were still arriving, and were still moving and setting tables after we were seated. I ordered lobster bisque but there was no lobster in it. No offer to fix this after we told Maitre D. Wait staff were terrible and needed training. We were constantly interrupted by the wait staff asking if we needed anything and they were constantly removing things from the table. The steaks were fine but nothing special and the sea bass was very good. The valet parking was a joke and we had to get the car from parking. The venue is too small. The three hostesses were located on an upper level with a glass wall. They must had nothing to do because they were constantly staring at the dinners. For a several hundred dollar meal I expect more than I can get at McDonald's. read more
