About 1230 am (a few hours later) we got a call that my wifes father that he had a heart attack and was in critical condition. I texted jason the owner he said he would take care of contacting the quide cody. (Please see text) my wife flew out on the only flight available at 630am( i couldnt get any other flights). I dropped her off and at that time 545 recieved a call from the quide Cody He asked if we were on the way. I told him i communicated with iason and he was supposed to contact him. He stated that he never called him and said it wasn't the first time. I explained why we didnt show up and he completely understood and was sorry for our father. Later that morning I went into the shop and spoke to Jason's son and another guide they said not to worry and we wouldnt get charged. I thanked them and offered cash for Cody's time. They both said no not to worry. and jPlease review the his policy states We understand that unexpected situations can lead to trip cancellations. We reserve the right to evaluate the circumstances and make refund decisions on a case by case basis. If a mutual agreement is made between the shop/guide and client due to weather state or federal closures. or other unforeseen events, the deposit will be refunded(less 7% admin and processing fee) I guess your father having a heart attack isn't unforeseen. The owner feels bad because the quide lives in a trailer. I get it I was going to pay him 250 dollars for his trouble but i was told not to worry about it. My father has past away rest his soul. The shop is owned by a local baddy who needs no introduction: Hilary Hutcheson. It would also be nice to include a price tag for flies and the other assortment of things in the shop like a fishing net! The selection of gear was little to none. If you want to find a fly shop to socialize in and have a nice cup of coffee this might be the place, but if you want to get real fishing apparel and gear I would steer you to go somewhere else.

We're not even experienced fishermen, but Mike made sure we had an amazing day and caught beautiful fish-- even a coveted Bull Trout (28in)! Bigfork is an amazing and special place, but our trip was without a doubt enhanced by Mike's experience and guidance on the lake. His prices for full/half day trips are super fair and competitive with any other charters on the lake. I…read morehave pretty much zero experience with fishing and no experience with the wilderness and river where we fished. Mark handled everything including all of the necessary gear, permits, and training needed to have a great day. Mark is amazing at helping you learn the correct casting technique and was very patient with his coaching. I really appreciated learning about the area where we were including all of the wildlife we saw and about fish feeding patterns and how river currents work. Everything was safe and most important, fun! It's always exhilarating catching a fish but the whole experience was a gem. Cannot recommend them enough if you are new or if you have a ton of experience and just want to have an epic day! It was wonderful to be on airplane mode and just in nature, chatting about the area, and learning something new. Cost for the day is totally fair and all you need to do is enjoy.

I went out two days with Mark, both yielded amazing fishing with a scenic backdrop like no other. Turns out there was more, apparently there was a nice hatch happening, it had just started and started early. I didn't have the fly and didn't know of the hatch, but Mark did and tied some flies for our trip. The cutthroat couldn't stay off the fly! This was my sons first trip flyfishing. Mark was beyond patient and proved to be a great teacher. He caught fish after fish after fish. Such gorgeous cutthroat from beginning of the day until the end (both days). I also caught more fish than can be counted and learned so much from Mark in our two days on the water. Mark has since helped me out a lot with tips and tricks whenever I reach out. He's been great! The scenery was like the fishing -second to none. There were so many moments I had to pinch myself. I was floating through Glacier on the Flathead catching fish. Daydreaming and watching the Eagles I was fine to to just float, but no! Interrupted by another trout striking my line, time to bring it in and out the line out! Before booking, I was a little hesitant, it's not cheap to hire out a guide. However, at the end of the second day, I felt like I had actually received a great deal! This was supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience, but I've decided that I'll have to go back and do it again! Thanks Mark and look forward to the next trip!
