Mark Fuller and his outfit are consummate fly-fishing professionals. From the beginning, Mark made the booking process and communication leading up to our trip incredibly easy--particularly as I wanted to customize our experience to include both the North Fork and Middle Fork of the Flathead. More importantly, Mark is a genuinely gifted guide and teacher. He got my father and me to the point where we could place our flies with something resembling precision, but he taught us far more than simply how to fish. His knowledge of the entire riparian ecosystem is remarkable. Throughout our time on the water, he shared tips and tricks about fly fishing while also teaching us about the river, wildlife, landscape, and ecosystem around us. His depth of knowledge made the experience that much richer. And Mark is just enjoyable company. He came equipped with a host of witty stories and a lifetime of experiences to share, while also being genuinely curious about us as visitors to his waters. The lunch was excellent, the conversation was easy, and he struck what I think is a very difficult balance for a guide: he was engaged and attentive without ever being overbearing. He taught when we wanted to learn, guided when we needed guidance, and also let us simply enjoy the river. I never felt bad if I wanted to put the rod down for an hour and happily assume my role as "passenger princess." Over the course of the trip, we fished from both a hard boat and a raft, which allowed us to experience very different stretches of the Flathead and see parts of northern Montana I might otherwise never have encountered. Given the raw beauty of the landscape, I am incredibly grateful that we did. Weeping walls, bald eagles sunning themselves after a hunt, rainbow-colored riverbeds, and mile after mile of extraordinary country--it was as much an experience of the place as it was a fishing trip. My father and I will appreciate this trip for years to come. We came away better fishermen, certainly, but also with a much greater appreciation for the Flathead and the ecosystem surrounding it. Mark's knowledge, humor, curiosity, professionalism, and willingness to tailor the experience to us made the trip truly memorable. Bottom line if you don't want to read this review then know Mark is a fabulous guide and just a great guy. I highly recommend him. Why- I'm a fairly experienced fly fisherman but had never floated The North Forkof the Flathead river. I contacted Mark a number of months ago to arrange a float for myself and a visiting friend the week of Labor Day. Floats like this are not cheap so my expectations about my experience from the set up to the day of fly fishing are always pretty high. Mark did not disappoint. A great float is priceless and this one was worth every penny because of Mark. From our conversations months ago to the day of our float he remembered what was important for us, he was on time and well equipped and he was very knowledgeable and insightful about the area. We told him we wanted to learn more to improve our fishing skills. Mark was all business, teaching and directing us toward the best possible fishing. We learned and we had a great time. It was clear to us, as Mark said, that this is his life's passion. He has an incredible depth of understanding about what's happening to the fish of Montana and fly fishing in the state. When he isn't on the water he is very involved in decisions that are being made that impact the future of water, fish and fishing in Montana. ur float trip down the Flathead River was one of the highlights of our trip! From the very beginning, everything was first-class. After booking, we received a detailed itinerary that made the entire experience stress-free. We knew exactly where to meet, what time to be there, and what to bring, so there was never any confusion. Our guide, Dustin Coffey, was outstanding! He was patient, knowledgeable, and so much fun to spend the day with. He was also an amazing teacher, taking the time to explain techniques and help my husband become a better fly fisherman while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. Outstanding day with Will from Wild Montana Anglers! First off, the process was easy and efficient. Will was super knowledgeable and helpful with both of us, even though we had different levels of experience. Caught native cutthroats with the beautiful Flathead River scenery as a backdrop, including a bald eagle that followed us down river for a bit. Water was still high due to runoff and earlier rain, but we still had an awesome time. Will was a great oarsman, and was always very safety conscious. He was also a very good and patient instructor, and we both learned a lot and caught fish throughout the day. Our lunch on the river was excellent. Mark, Will, and Chris are fantastic guides. They are excellent teachers, helping all of us with our fly fishing skills while keeping it light and fun. Mark was very patient with me as I worked with dry flies for the first time finally landing a nice size rainbow!
