Dan With Van is a deceptive merchant, and the worst liar I have ever encountered. After receiving my 1-star review Dan messaged me privately, trying to get me to remove it which I refused, as it was a truthful account & I wanted to warn other customers of his bait-$-switch tactics. It is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS that Dan has written the bold-faced lie in his response that I didn't "PAY ANYTHING" when I gave him a $50 cash tip!!! Dan, being true to his deceptive ways, obviously decided to take matters into his own hands when I refused to remove my review, by writing his outright lies in response. To address the lies in his response: 1) The move did NOT "go perfectly well" & he demanded I pay $50 more than quoted. To start, on Dan's arrival, because I am honest, I remarked I had 19 boxes total, not 15 as originally estimated; it was not "30% 50% more". Dan immediately pulled out a paper of his "Terms", pressuring & DEMANDING I pay him $50 extra, COMPLAINING he has to walk up 4 flights of stairs, when "I am an older man" (his words). Seriously, if you're a mover and you're complaining about 4 flights of stairs , should you continue being in this business? But because I am a nice person & felt sorry for him, & I also didn't want the hassle of cancelling/trying to get my $50 deposit back (which he probably would've refused to return) and he was already there & I had other appointments that day, I decided to just deal with it & very sweetly handed him $50 cash telling him I was going to tip him anyway (for which he never even said "Thank you", in his unsmiling, grumpy manner. ) Note, his previous 5-star reviews, if they're even real, were from MANY years ago, his most recent reviews are negative 1 STAR, for good reason. 2) It is a completely OUTRAGEOUS, BOLD-FACED LIE for him to write I did not "PAY ANYTHING" after I handed over an extra $50 in cash, and I will be complaining to Yelp. 3) So here in his response, he now admits I gave him a $50 CASH TIP which is how he accepted it, so clearly, he is completely confused. Moving is stressful, and I really hate when movers pull this stunt. I would have cancelled him on the spot and looking back I should have the minute he arrived and pulled this, however I'm a nice person, he probably would have hassled me about keeping the deposit & I had intended to tip anyway so I just paid the extra $50 he demanded & to get the job done. Plus I could see Dan & the guy he arrived with are older men & a 4th-floor walk up was strenuous for them. When they arrived at the destination, Dan texted me he wanted the remaining balance of payment immediately (I was on the subway so said I would Venmo the rest of the payment later in the afternoon when I got out of the subway into better Wifi). Apparently this was not acceptable to Dan who wanted the money immediately as my husband told me Dan threatened not to unload all my things or leave unless the balance was paid. So my husband had to pay him through Zelle. Overall, I will never hire Dan ever again and definitely do not recommend him. The place I was in was partially furnished so some items weren't part of my things. I booked this, paid the deposit and thought my moving troubles were resolved (after going through a lot of effort to get a new apartment and having to deal with the realities of lack of safety in this place due to a threat making scumbag roommate with an enabling mother who was the landlady). Imagine my anger and annoyance when the team shows up, takes a look at my stuff in the hallway and tells me that I wasted my time going to the bank to get cash to pay them and that they couldn't move me since they failed to plan. Grant even had the audacity to accuse me of lying about what I had after I had to send 3 separate emails filled with photo files if my property to be removed. I had to scramble around last minute to find another moving company, pay well over double this quoted amount and not get my A/C window unit put into the new apartment as this company agreed to do. At least I got my $25 deposit back and was able to get a replacement company the same day but that REALLY screwed me up and didn't help when I'd been forced from that apartment and had hassle earlier in the day from the police attempting to diminish my safety concerns (this mother and other brother sure didn't care about them with the threat maker and his girlfriend being in the space during the move).

I was…read morecalling multiple moving service companies requesting a quote but they were all booked and/or were unresponsive. I messaged Dan as my last and final quote through Yelp and he had responded to me right away. I called him and we quickly discussed the logistics and what his rate was and what it entailed. He was soooo knowledgeable in the moving industry and I knew I was in safe hands. He let me know that the trucks they rent are from a bed bug free location in Jersey bc he didn't trust the trucks in New York. Talk about being extremely caring! We had 3 locations to hit. My partner's location, my location and our move in location. Dan had arrived at my partner's location 1.5-2 hours than what was quoted (so much better for us) and was in and out of there in 1.5 hours. Him and his team, Paco and Roy were in and out of my location in 1.5-2 hours. They were super friendly, efficient and funny! We all helped out with the move and before we know it, we were already at our move in location. It started pouring rain but Paco and Roy remained undeterred and kept moving! All in all the entire move in took about 6.5 hours which included dissembling and reassembling the furniture and all 3 locations.
