    Cod

The atmosphere was great, it reminded me of an up north kinda place. The staff and customers were friendly and great service. The drinks were spot on, we each had two Southern Comfort Old Fashions. We enjoyed an average salad bar prior to our fish fry. I ordered the 3 perch and shrimp combo with potato pancakes and my wife had the 2 piece cod with a baked potato. We heard great things about the fish fry however we were disappointed with the fish. The cod was very thin and curl and my perch were the same, not flakey at all. The potato pancakes were more like tater tots that were flat.

The Friday fish fry is an area winner. Dave takes care of his customers and employees. Always a good time.

What a wonderful charming distillery and bar! And the pretzel was definitely the star of the show!…read moreHuge and soft and the perfect amount of salt!!! The drinks were amazing and the bar tender even made a special mocktail for me! The fact that they allow dogs into... yes into the entire space is wonderful! They are not a full restaurant so they only offer light noshes , falafels and pretzel and chips and queso.... But that's all you need for a fun night with friends and great atmosphere! They have board games to play and even a table top cribbage board!!! Definitely recommend

I lost track of what all we tried but: fae nectar, hurrican't even, cheeky devil, fiesta bear, and tea and tendril. Everything was delicious, went down easy, and reasonable prices. The food was also good - chips & queso, chicken tenders, and pretzel. The pretzel was INSANE - enough to go around for 4 people. Riley was a fabulous bar tender. He was super knowledgeable on all the spirits and cocktails. We had great banter and he was welcoming on our first visit. I loved the variety of seating options inside and out. The patio is great but the bees scared us back inside. Everything was decorated so cute for Halloween - it must have taken forever to decorate!! Definitely will be back again next time I'm in the Madison area!

Looks like a great place with the big log frame. Something about it says it should be great…read more Went after a soccer game, not too many people were in the place, about 8 at the bar and 3 tables in dining room. I'm not sure if they were under staffed but they seemed confused so no host was there and we kind of just stood there for a while. It took awhile but we were eventually seated. We were then seated. I believe the name Micheal was our waiter. We asked about drinks, not much in way of craft beers. So old fashioned,a Yuengling, a coke and apple juice. Granddaughter said apple juice was good! Friday night fish fry, what do they have? Catfish, walleye and cod. So we ended up with 2 catfish, a walleye and a cheeseburger. 1 catfish with fries and side salad. 1 catfish with baked potato and side salad 1 walleye with baked potato and side salad. Burger and fries. It took awhile for salad plates to come, it was A salad bar. Very basic salad bar, they are glad I didn't take pictures because the salad bar looked weak, not so much with topping but the lettuces looked old and barely enough for the 3 of us. They brought the burger, walleye and 1 catfish plate. Gave walleye and catfish to wrong people; we said I we think you have wrong people, they said no. You can kind of tell a catfish filet from walleye. He asked me to cut into my fish to tell the difference; he then agreed they were mixed up. My catfish had baked potato instead of fries. He said I'll get you the fries, I won't charge you for the baked potato??? Kind of strange response- why would you even think that. So we ate and pretty much done eating, my fries arrive. Oh well! He was gracious enough to say we gave you a few extras; my side didn't look any bigger than another guest portion. We enjoy hitting Wisconsin dive bars and usually they have great food! Actually the fish was good, but portions were small, 1/2 filet each for what we paid in my humble opinion. While we go back to revisit other past places while we are here, I very much doubt we will be back here. Maybe we just hit an off night since I see other positive reviews.

Service was excellent. Dining area could have been warmer. I took the chili. Tbe chili was excellent. But the spaghetti and meatballs was disappointing. Tastes like spaghetti o's without the circular noodles. So my recommendation is if you like chili check it out. Hard pass on the spaghetti although the garlic bread was good. Maybe bring kids for spaghetti if they like the taste of spaghetti o's. I noticed they have a fish fry - maybe that would be good. I had high hopes. Maybe everything else is great. I was the only one eating at 7pm so i think that might indicate otherwise.

I Yelped bourbon bars, and found Erin's Snug just down the street from our hotel. I had hoped to have corned beef and cabbage, but was told they were out. Ugh. So I settled for a Reuben. (I looked at him quizzically when he told me they could still make this, but he said the corned beef was prepared a different way. It was kind of shredded.) This wasn't optimal for my low-carb diet, but I pulled off most of the bread and went with it. It was okay, but not great. Kind of disappointing. My Maker's Mark Manhattan, on the other hand, was quite tasty. My husband had the stew, and said it was very good. It came with a large piece of bread on top, maybe soda bread, and was served in a large bowl, Other than the bartender making a joke about how they wouldn't put the Bears game on because this was Packers country (as it turns out, he's from Buffalo), and being oddly out of corned beef and cabbage, the evening was nice.
