Sports bar with great food! Don't miss this one! This gem is unassuming and tucked back off the main streets cottage grove. It has a large indoor and outdoor recreational area attached, but the food is what stands out. This was our first time for breakfast. The Bloody Mary was delicious, tasted like a homemade mix, with the perfect portion of garnishes. I had the breakfast sandwich, which was build your own, with potato pancakes. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The potato pancakes were some of that best I've had, and such a great idea for breakfast. My husband had the biscuits and gravy with seasoned diced potatoes. The food was very very salty. Cheese curds could hardly be eaten. The ranch was overloaded with dill. Super greasy also. Wax paper puddled with grease. Burger had so much smoky molasses flavored bacon jam on it that it was overwhelming. Bun was a bit dry. Caesar chicken salad was just meh. The black bean soup was good, but again, overly salty. Chicken tenders were a bit dry and overcooked. The fries were a bit soft and not very hot. And salty. The service was great so that's why the rating is what it is. read more

We ordered 2 salads tonight for takeout one Salmon, 1 Asian Chicken. We were underwhelmed on both of them. The salmon had a good size chunk. It was supposed to come with pears and candied walnuts. I've included picture, there weren't any. Both salads were to come with "French Bread" per menu. You will see it was like an inch piece of bread. The Asian Chicken had tough chicken, limp tortilla strips (salad dressing was on side so that wouldn't have impacted this) and about 4 mandarin slices 2 of which were mushy. There were no bean sprouts or sesame seeds as indicated on menu. The only thing that saved this meal was a breadstick we found in our refrigerator. Too bad, would not get either again. read more

What a hidden gem in the cottage grove business park! We started out with two drinks that were very tasty and well balanced. We then shared some Oakstone nachos with pulled pork. They were well covered and the cheese was delicious! Pulled pork was pretty bland but the other ingredients made up for it. We also split the Cajun shrimp po'boy sandwhich and WOW one of the best po'boys I've ever had. The shrimp are not fried but they have a lot of flavor. The bun was toasted and so soft. We ordered a side of the Mexican street corn. It is served cold. I was not a fan by my fiancé loved it. Overall, we will definitely be back to try more menu items! We needed a central place to meet some family that came from all over the state for a Packer game/get together, and we were not disappointed! The waitresses/staff were excellent-very friendly, excellent service with great attention to detail! And, food and drinks were tasty, everyone said we need to do this again!! I came in on recommendation from people I met last week, I walked in the place was fairly empty that's OK. Sat at the bar. Ordered a Bloody Maria. My drink came very quickly with a chaser which was decent. The mix that was used had a great flavor and it was garnished with two pickle slices and an olive and a nice chunk of cheese and a piece of salami. Lots of great choices for breakfast some that made it hard for me to decide but I chose the OMELETTE with seasoned potatoes on the side. The bartender didn't know that it came with seasoned potatoes, I had to let her know so she looked at the menu and you said you're right. What kind of toast do you want. I asked what options do you have, she said brioche, white, wheat And I said immediately brioche. Fast-forward to when I got my meal, quite disappointing in the presentation. There was grease all over the side of the plate and underneath so when I moved it my hand was greasy ...no problem... My food looked like it was supposed to have been one thing and somebody made a mistake and made it another. Definitely didn't look like an omelette looks.... more like a scrambler with the eggs overcooked. I can only think that they were starting to make the omelette and forgot about it and overcooked the eggs and quickly threw a scoop (very small scoop) of blue cheese on top and then quickly chopped it up and threw it on a dish alongside some seasoned potatoes. My bread came out alongside it... It was grilled on the grill not toasted... And it definitely wasn't brioche. It was white bread. So not only did I not get an omelette, I got an overcooked scrambler with a little bit of blue cheese in one spot of all of the food... The flavor was great it would've been great if the blue cheese was mixed in, but for $15 I definitely expected it to have more than a small scoop of blue cheese in one spot... The toast was fried on the flat top and would've been great if I wanted a greasy piece of fried bread... But I wanted brioche toast and that's definitely not what I got. I ate it all, the ham had a great flavor, the bacon was amazing... The little bit of blue cheese in the small one part of it didn't impress me. and the toast definitely did not impress me... Especially when I cashed out and found out I was charged two dollars for the toast lol, it definitely wasn't brioche toast, definitely wasn't toast, and it definitely should not have been a two dollar up charge without me knowing it. Long story short, the food tasted good, but now when I go back I know how to ask for my food to be prepared specifically... I usually tip well, and I felt bad but I realized, the bartender knew nothing about the menu, didn't inform me about the up charge, didn't ask me how it was while I was eating it because I would've told her about the lump in the middle of limited blue cheese and the brioche toast not being brioche... Therefore I only gave her three dollars. I'm sure she was pissed but not as pissed as I was to being up charged and charged $15 for an omelette That wasn't an omelette and two dollars extra for brioche toast there was nothing more than a grilled piece of white bread. Came here for the in between lunch and dinner hour, lots of parking available and seats available. High top or booths and we opted for a booth. The server was very patient and waited on us multiple times before I had FINALLY made a decision. I got a burger and upgraded my soup. The chili definitely had a kick, some smokiness to it. Had I known it was this good, I would've upgraded to the larger size. The burger was lacking. The sauce was a little too much, making it salty. I asked for medium and got well done. I had also asked for tomatoes and lettuce which didn't come but the server was able to grab it after a couple of bites. We were at nearby Schuster's Farm and looking for somewhere to eat when this gem popped up. It's in an industrial area of Cottage Grove, and not somewhere you would generally look for a restaurant. However, you should look here - what a fun place!! We sat outside in a gorgeous day and enjoyed the super comfortable patio seating. There are two turf volleyball courts with lots of kid friendly games that anyone can use. The menu is varied, with lots of great sounding entrees and a respectable kid's menu. We had a tough time deciding! My daughter chose the chicken strips, my husband got a burger, and I got a burrito. The fries were outrageously delicious. Everyone loved their food! Actually....5 stars for the restaurant and for the servers. They were excellent. We arrived at opening so had no trouble getting seated. Lots of parking and a great location at the end of a dead end road. Restrooms were very large and clean. Really can't say enough about the building/staff. The food was marginal. Teo had burgers and they said they were very good. Wife had shrimp which was not to bad. I had the haddock fish fry and here is where we were kind of let down. The beer batter had a decent flavor but lacked crisp news. It was just rushed a bit if that makes sense. Perhaps the fry oil was not up to temperature since it was just after opening. We hs cheese curd Appetizers which were delicious.....but barely warm. We ordered them and they were served in about three minutes!! Surprised us all! Could be why they were not very hot. My wife mentioned that her shrimp was barely hot too. If management sees this, please work on preparation. The food is decent, just needs better attention! When in the neighborhood, we will stop back to try other menu items. They have volleyball courts on one end of the building which should make some happy. Stopped there as a last minute decision on our way back to Milwaukee from Madison. My wife had the breakfast grilled cheese and I had the apple french toast. Both were great! The bloody's were ok, but too much like seasoned tomato juice to me. Could've used a little extra zing. I did ask for a beermosa (which my server had never heard of) for my second drink, and the bartender hooked me up with a great beermosa. The trick is the right blend of beer to OJ. Nailed it. Staff and service were excellent. They were attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. We did truly enjoy our service and must give kudos to our server Drew. She was right on point! The atmosphere was inviting, warm and clean. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Impressive changing room for when you're there for activities ( they even have dodgeball coming up!). While everyone in our group of 6 enjoyed the food, we also all agreed that it really could've been warmer. The butter wouldn't melt on anyone's toast/english muffins. And for some reason there was about a 5 minute delay for the delivery of half the orders We would like to try it again, but the temperature issue for the food will be the make it or break it for us. read more

A new bar/restaurant/volleyball complex that opened in the industrial area of Cottage Grove. The decor is an interesting mix of farmhouse incorporating lots of wood throughout, mason jars, and strangely wine corks, as well as sports themed. They had a $5 Bloody Mary special that I ordered spicy, and it did have a little heat. The garnishes were your standard pickle, olive, sausage, and a cube of cheese. It was nice to see they had several vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. I ordered the BBQ Portobello Mushroom sandwich that came with a side for $11. The portobello mushrooms were sliced and soaked in a sweet BBQ sauce, between a brioche bun, which made the sandwich overly sweet and messy to eat as the mushrooms kept sliding out of the sandwich. They had a decent list of craft beer on tap. There seems to be lots of games in the bar in addition to multiple TVs to keep you entertained. read more

I think I'm done with Oakstone now, and it's all solely based on the food. The service is great. The beers are fine. The atmosphere is great. I'm just not a fan of the food. Went back this last Thursday for a special they'd posted on Facebook; my daughter wanted this meatball hoagie they were offering. She got the special. My wife got the other special, which was Philly cheesesteak wontons, and I got a burger. I was grossly unimpressed on all three fronts. First, the burger: They make these incredibly dense, hard-to-chew meat patties and then cook the hell outta them, even if you ask for them to be done medium. The patty I got was well-done. The burger was topped sloppily, and most of whatever sauce they put on it oozed out the side on the first bite attempt. I wasn't impressed with anything about the burger. The mushrooms were dark and flavorless. The sauce was sorta bland. The veggies weren't the best. It was just a burger. It was very plain and tough and for $13, it wasn't worth it. The meatballs on the hoagie followed the same fate as the burger. They were dense and hard to chew. My daughter eventually gave up on them and just tried to eat the rest of the hoagie, but it was pretty lackluster. My wife was okay with her Philly cheesesteak wontons, but they weren't great. They were just acceptable. I've been to Oakstone maybe seven times since it opened. I want to like it, but for the most part, the meals have always been entirely forgettable. There is better food in Cottage Grove. If I ever end up back at Oakstone, I'm definitely not ordering food...except maybe the cheese curds. read more

They have good selection of beers. Our server was friendly and attentive. That's the good part. Two of us ordered the classic burger to be cooked medium. It was more well done. As other reviews stated it a very dense and thick burger patty with very little flavor other than the abundance of salt. This was probably the worst burger I've ever had! I've been there several times and at first loved it. Food was great and service was good. The last couple of times I've been there the service was awful. Super slow unless you're in the bar. If you're seated at a table in the dining area... expect to wait... and wait! Food was ok... I had the chicken alfredo, very bland, chicken over cooked and flavorless. My friends food was not impressive. The last two times I've been there they've also been out of standard food... like Salsa and tater tots. Really?? Go to kwik trip down the road and buy some.
