We've been a customer for 30 years and always look forward when in town. The past 3 times over 7 months food has had to be returned. Today my husband ordered a BLT, the bread was barely toasted and applewood bacon which the menu didn't post. We waited 20 min for my salad and bread came 30 minutes later. My husband sent his back and got biscuits and gravy which are usually good. The biscuits were NOT fresh at all. They should have taken his meal new meal off the bill. Did you change owners? For a road side cafe, this place is great. They have lots of good counter seating and booths. The food is good for diner style dining. The severs are very friendly. We were heading home after our camping trip at Silverwood Lake campground and found this place. We decided to go here after reading a couple reviews and I was not disappointed at all! As busy as it was, the service was good and the food was good as well. The menu is very extensive (I should have taken pictures of it) with all kinds of choices. Reasonable prices for the amount do food. I ate a pastrami sandwich and wow, perhaps it's the best pastrami sandwich I've had in a long time. Taste was good, the bread which I chose french roll vs the other bread option which was sourdough, it was delicious. For the side I opted for french fries. They were crispy and paired well with a side of ranch to dip them in. I would totally recommend this place to stop by and have good food. The restaurant had a delightful ambiance as well. Loved this stop! Met my brother here who is a truck driver and we sat outside despite the super windy day so I could accommodate my pups! They made them salt free burger patties that were huge! And the waffle pancakes and steak were all tasty! Eggs were really good! Definitely better quality compared to most restaurant eggs! Darker yokes and no ammonia flavor or smell. Bathroom was clean! I do not recommend the waffle it was horrible. The batter tasted like flour and water ...thats it. Bacon was cold. Scrambled eggs were perfection! My Dads omelet looked great and he said it tasted good but the bacon was extremely hard in it. The home fries were burned black for the most part. The biscuit and gravy were the hottest hes ever had he said. I tasted the gravy and it was from a mix but not bad. The ambiance is old 70s truckstop and I liked it. The food needs a little help. First off, the food was good and the portions generous. My wife had the pork chops and eggs. The hash browns were delivered crispy as they should be. The gravy was spectacular. Like I said it was all a little salty though. As a coffee snob and aficionado please consider this high praise at a 6 out of 10. In the last 7 years I have had coffee from all over world. This coffee was good. Slightly stronger or maybe a more coarse grind would help. Our cups never ran dry. $37.78 for 2 breakfasts was on the high side. The portion sizes mostly made up up for the pricing however. After eating here, I now ask why have we not eaten here during the 29 years that we've lived in the High Desert. Now that we're in the process of leaving the desert, I finally decided to give them a visit. With a little bit of research, I knew I wanted the juicy Lucy, but as I browsed through the menu, it was not there. So when our excellent server Laurie greeted us, I asked about the juicy Lucy and she confirmed that they did take it off the menu, but she was certain the chef would not have a problem making it and I'm glad he did. It was juicy, full of flavor, tons of meat cooked to a perfect medium rare and delicious homemade onion rings to accompany it. Also their salad dressings, such as their ranch and blue cheese all homemade and delicious. As I said earlier, our server Laurie who was excellent made our first visit the best experience ever and sad that we'd probably have to wait for Vegas trips to be able to visit here again. She is a true pro. Handled the entire restaurant single handedly. Very friendly and very welcoming to everyone. We stopped here for a brunchy lunch on our road trip. Good food, good portions and friendly staff. We elected to eat outside which was a little dusty (but they warned us that was the case). The umbrella shade kept it comfortable even while the temps were soaring. Had the fish burger, which was a generous portion of fish, the Reuben, which was delish, fries, a burger, and the divorced eggs. Food was all very good. They make their own chips and the waitress suggested trying it with their homemade salsa. I would never have done that without the suggestion but it was wonderful! The divorced eggs had almost a half avocado on them. Sweet tea was nice and refreshing and not too sweet. Would definitely go back next time we are on that route. read more
