Other reviews helped us try this place out. I was laughing out lout at the doordash order review. The manager's response convinced us to stop here. Outpost Café provides fast, friendly service, great food portions at great prices, and a cozy, hometown atmosphere. As you walk in, there's a sign that instructs you to seat yourself. We gladly took the round booth for our party of 3, plus my 11-month-old. The booth was a little worn, but it simply adds to the hometown experience, in my opinion. Coffee was served almost immediately. My wife realized she wanted to try the hot cocoa a few seconds after we asked for coffee, but it was already poured and served. Our waitress gave us a cup of cocoa on the house! We ordered the belgian waffle, carne asada omelette, and la chica grande burrito. The waffle was soft, sweet, and covered in plenty of topping (it looked more like an apple pie!). The omelette had plenty of meat. The burrito was definitely grande. The salsa was amazing. I usually dont add that much to my food, but we cleaned out both cups for the omelette and the burrito. I was surprised to see our final bill was only $46. Very cool place. My dad and I stopped in here the other night while passing through the area coming back from a camping trip. I had been looking on google maps for potential dinner stops and saw this place and it had good ratings and seemed cool and unique so decided to stop. Place is right next to a truck stop and pilot gas station. So kinda. Hey parking lot. The restaurant itself had a very cool interior, very nice and welcoming staff. I had the pulled pork sandwich and my dad the BLT, we were both satisfied with our meals. If I ever find myself passing though her again I'll for sure have to stop by and try something else at this location! 5/5 would recommend! read more

I live not even five minutes away so we come here often for breakfast. They're not too busy although it might seem like it because their parking lot is little hectic and they're quick. The staff is friendly and usually on point except for one. Receipt shows her name as Elsa. It was our first time being served by her. We were waiting to have our order taken. Twice I was told they'll let our waitress know. She still hasn't come by. Third time the other server (brunette girl who's always on it) yelled across the restaurant to take our order then she finally came over. Anyway food comes she just drops it off. Never once did she check on us. I had to ask the runner for condiments after being fed up on waiting for her to come by or thinking she will. Later she just drops off the check on the table without saying a word walking away and I ask her for a box. Never brings it and never picked up check again. Mind you that she was literally behind the bar not doing anything. I saw her hovering over the table or standing staring at the kitchen doing nothing! She had one other table who was dining alone and one other guy dining alone at the bar she was taking care of. We waited for her up come but had to get up to ask someone else for box and hand check. She has the middle section and it's not very big but I would avoid her section at all costs next time. Does the bare minimum and should not be in the service industry with that work style. it's sad the others have to pick up her slack. read more

I never would have expected anything out of the ordinary at a truck stop cafe but we always stop here and I've never left disappointed. Breakfast, lunch or dinner. The parking lot is huge and allows for us to park our truck & trailer comfortably. The Cafe is clean and cozy with cowboy old west feel. There is a patio which I don't believe has heaters but comfortable in the daytime. We stopped on our way out to the river and on the way home this trip. We ordered corn beef hash and eggs for breakfast which was made with real shredded corned beef. Plenty of food to share between the hubby and I. On our trip home we stopped for lunch. We shared the Meatloaf Sandwich and fries. First of hands down best fries ever. They're crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. Flavor was perfect. The sandwich was huge. It came with a chipotle mayo sauce, fried onion strings lettuce and tomato on a soft brioche roll. I believe the meatloaf was also bacon wrapped. Man this place was an amazing find. Came here last night for a late dinner and it surpassed my expectations. I think it's been open since 1961, and the food quality for a fwy mom and pop diner AFTER c0vid is amazing. 0 complaints. Had the truckers steak with mashed potatoes sweet potato fries and a side salad. Their ranch dressing seemed to be home made. All was delish. Buddy got the chicken fried steak with onion rings and a salad and he enjoyed it. We came back the next morning for breakfast and got thr omelets to go. Drove about an hour to meet family who were on their way to Vegas. I had not been here in many, many years, and was feeling nostalgic, so I suggested we meet here. I was not disappointed! Coming home from Vegas, we heard that there were some delays due to an accident on the 15. So we yelped have his cafe for some breakfast and I am so glad we did! The food and service was excellent. Once we come in we were immediately greeted and were informed that we could seat ourselves. The menu had such a variety so It was so difficult to decide! I ended up ordering a breakfast burrito with a pancake on the side (don't judge me). The flavors were spot on and the pancake was so fluffy. The votes are in and the family gives Outpost a solid 4. The Philly cheesesteak, apple waffle breakfast, Trucker's special, and my bacon cheeseburger were all winners. Surprisingly, what blew them away was the potato salad. They said it's the best they ever had. I was really pleased with my burger. It was cooked perfectly and was nice and juicy. The bacon was nice and crisp. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had in a few months. Next time when we aren't in a rush, we'll eat in rather than just grab a take out order. The staff was friendly and the girls were impressed with the clean restroom. You don't always get that on the trail to Las Vegas. So, this place definitely lived up to it's reputation. This was my third time going to this place. The first two were great experiences. A couple walked in before me and they sat down I had to go a little farther out due to no seating available. Sat down got my own menu seeing they were busy. Took them a while to take my drink order (water). Took them another while to take the order one was to eat at the restaurant the other one was to go. So it took about 48 minutes to get one cup of water. I ended up telling the waitress to make both orders to go. I could see she was busy but to tend to all the other customers, and hear her laughing and giggling with them that's fine but check in on other customers not leave us out in the cold just plain unattended. The food this time was ok, but the service was really, really bad. Just when i thought I found a nice place in the high desert but that bad serve is not worth my money. When I was leaving the couple who had walked before me both had their meals, and had been eating already. I did feel discriminated maybe because I'm Hispanic and not a truck driver. I almost always stop at Outpost Cafe for lunch on the way to Vegas or on the way to destinations further north on the I-15. Here's why: Outpost Cafe is essentially an old school diner with numerous items on the menu. There is something for everyone, and breakfast is served all day. The clientele is mostly locals and truckers from the adjacent truck stop, but tourists passing through are welcome, too. The food and the service are very good. I've never had a disappointing meal, and the service has always been great. Tip your server well. They really do a great job. Outpost Cafe a a great alternative to the fast food places in Barstow many people choose if they're going to stop for lunch. on an I-15 road trip Once I found the Outpost Cafe, I never went back. Nice sit down meal at the Outpost or lunch at fast food madhouse? For me, it's a no-brainer. To get to the Outpost Cafe from the I-15, take the Highway 395 exit, and you will soon see where to go from there. Getting back on the I-15 is easy whether traveling northbound or southbound. Pro-tip: Watch for trucks. A busy truck stop is adjacent, and there are always trucks coming and going. Cheers! read more

Order with DoorDash, ok sounds good, I take my time make my choices add 20% tip place my order and head out the door. I arrive at the cafe as soon as i walk in it says they work with doordash cool, I then look down at my phone and it says my order was canceled because they could not fulfill my order. So i ask the waitress why it was canceled and she says it's because there too busy to fulfill DoorDash orders at the moment, really?? So I guess they pick and choose which DoorDash orders they want to fulfill when it's convenient for them.. I guess that's awesome for them , not so awesome for me the customer?? What a bunch of BS!! This hidden little gem is next to the Pilot Truck stop. The service is beyond excellent, everything on the menu is mouth watering you won't be disappointed. Every time we get a chance to stop on our way down from VEGAS we stop. The prime rib served on sat and Sundays is fire. The flavor like everything else is on point.
