Took the whole family here for a 10 day vacation and we had a great time. We loved our room. We were on the 8th floor and had a nice view of the ocean. Our room appears to have been recently remodeled. They had every comfort I could think of. The noisy little stacked washer/dryer worked so amazingly great, I didn't know laundry could be that clean and soft. I was astounded. The location of the resort is convenient. It's right next to Papis Ohana, Miss Arepa's is a few blocks down the street, the ABC store is just a very short walk, all the food trucks are right next door, and shopping across the street. The grounds themselves were beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge was friendly and knowledgable. We basically did most of the things she recommended and had a great time. We loved The Beach Club Restaurant on site and had breakfast there every day. It was DELICIOUS. Myron and Kaime welcomed us almost every morning and made us feel welcome, and made us laugh a lot. Basicallly, we loved it. I would definitely come back.

An extremely beautiful hotel with amazing views all around. A couple of pools and a nice little beach front location. A great restaurant to grab a bite, especially breakfast. A nice amount of shops to get anything you may need. All the staff we interacted with were very nice and friendly. Rooms are very spacious. Beautiful balcony views from the room. At night everything is lit up and makes for a nice walk around the area.

    The view

Everything was amazing, room service was excellent and o wished they had more little shops more days out of the week and free coffee and free ice water , cucumber water or POG other then that I would definitely stay here again . Two thumbs up from Southern California, Orange County area

Make sure you understand 1) What room you're getting. The view was of the apartment Bldg. next door and the drainage canal. ZERO ocean view! 2) The room is old, antiquated and above the service area so all times day & night there are big trucks coming and going. When they back up, the loud constant beeping is going! 3) Additionally, the rooms are adjacent to the parking garage and when a car alarm goes off at 2:00 am it sounds like it's in your room. 4) While the room rate may be reasonable, understand that there are additional charges that total another $75 a day. 5) Nothing particularly special about the two pools or restaurant/bar.

The resort was very nice. Our room was very clean when we arrived. We enjoyed staying here for a week. The parking was cheap compared to other islands we've stayed on. We loved the two pools, and had many drinks from the bar at the beach club restaurant. The food there was mediocre (the onion rings are the best) but it was nice to have an option close by. The banana colada is to die for. They gave us new towels half way through the week (there isn't complimentary housekeeping, you have to pay for it) so that was nice of them. I would definitely stay here again.

We chose the Aston Kaanapali resort because we were looking for a unit with a kitchen. At this resort we were able to get a two bedroom unit with a full kitchen. We booked our unit through Maui Paradise properties and had a great experience. The unit was fully stocked with plates, toaster coffee pot. It included two chairs and an ice chest. There is a grocery store located walking distance across the street, which was very convenient. We rented a car and never had difficulty finding a parking spot. Pool towels were always easy to check out and return. The pool was great, but the spa can be crowded at times there are lawn games and plenty of chairs. The restaurant on site has happy hour drink specials. The beach in front was just OK. We preferred to walk down the beach toward the Honua Kai for better snorkeling and safer water. Overall, we had a great trip and would return to the Aston Kaanapali Shores.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my family. We booked multiple rooms, and had the best experience! This place was so comfortable, accessible and convenient! The staff were very friendly from beginning to end. We loved how the beach was just a short walk through the resort, and enjoyed eating & drinking at the Beach Club restaurant located in the resort. We ALL look forward to booking here again & again in the near future! Thank you Maui!

When we first got here, the first room smelled weird and was making my pregnant wife nauseous from the smell. The Aston family quickly changed our rooms and set us up with in a different room and we have had nothing but good things to say since we've been here. It's a great location. Has great amenities. The beach is doable. The pool is amazing. Overall, the kids and parents are happy. Thanks for the great stay!

My family and I have been to Maui 5 times. We have stayed at various hotels from the Ritz Carlton to this place (inclusive of the Sheraton and Houna Kai) We got this deal via Costco Travel. I will list the pros and con of various aspects of this hotel. Let me just first say we had a fairly decent experience but I don't need to come back to this hotel. We stayed for an entire week. Room: we upgraded to ocean front and Im very glad we did. It is spacious (2bd 2bth) with a wrap around balcony and the view is amazing. We slept to the sounds of ocean waves. Music to my ears. Pro: The space and the ocean front views. There are appliances and utensils to use. Efficient and kind maintenance staff, generally kind staff, there are a few outliers who aren't pressed to help much. Cons: older furniture so not comfortable and appliances are older but they work just fine. The hotel is older so the ceilings, flooring and walls need some rehab. The hotel in general needs remodeling. there were small insects in room (ants, and I think I killed a termite), sliding screen doors were broken (fixed by maintenance men very quickly). the A/C was initially not working (again maintenance men were on it). No house keeping and if you need it, there is a fee. Gym: there is a $7 daily fee to use gym. You have to download an app and subscribe for the time that you will use it and then unsubscribe upon your departure so you don't keep getting charged. It doesn't open til 6, gym space is small and the equipment is older with some of them rusted. But it's decent for cool workout. Especially if you pick a time when no one is in there. Food: food trucks are right across the street and there is a restaurant on-site (beach club, meh , but Mrs Pam, one of the servers was super kind. Loved her table-side manner), Times grocery store is across the street and there are some mom and pop eateries sprinkled throughout the plaza across the street. Pools: fairly decent size pools. One pool is max 4ft the other one is like an "adult" pool and it is 7-8ft deep. There are no slides or water pads but there is small waterfall

First time staying at Aston Kaanapali shores so glad we chose this place really beautiful property with extremely friendly staff Elenor at front desk was excellent in helping us get checked in she was very friendly The property has really spacious rooms with all you need to have a great stay full kitchens stove microwave coffee maker dishwasher fridge the works and it was stocked with all the utensils you need which is great for those longer stays washer and dryer in room also which was super convenient beach club restaurant on property was very nice 2 really nice pools and 2 jacuzzi tubs on property the beach directly in front of property was also really nice food truck court right next door and across the street was a couple great restaurants Sergio's and slappy cakes for breakfast abc store and gas station 1 block away great location in my opinion 5 min to whalers village and black rock Will be back on our next trip to Maui

Traveling with a toddler is challenging, but staying at the Aston Kaanapali Shores made it much easier. My family stayed for 5 nights in a 2 bedroom suite. The room itself is a bit outdated, but clean enough. I did see some tiny ants the first day in one bathroom and was a little worried, but didn't see any more after that. We were at the top floor though so not sure if that made a difference. We did have some hiccups the first day with the a/c, but maintenance staff are quick to respond. There is this technology in the rooms where sensors can tell if you are in the room and magnets on the sliding door need to be aligned in order for the a/c to run. Our room had a full kitchen which made it so much easier to keep and reheat food. We also made a trip to Costco before heading to the hotel and picked up a case of water and some snacks, so it was nice to have a full sized fridge. The location of our room was also a bit far from the elevator so it wasn't easy to go to the car really quickly if we forgot something. In terms of staying at Lahaina, I thought being an hour away from the airport would be challenging, but the traffic was not like Oahu and was manageable even though we went to Wailea and back towards the airport area several times during our trip (we were there off season though). I've stayed at the Grand Wailea years ago, so it's not as fancy at that area but as a family it was nice to be at a quieter location. Not my top choice for a romantic getaway, but I would came back with my family. Specifically for families, it was really nice to have 2 bedrooms because we were able to give baby his own room. We were also at the end of the building so his room didn't share a wall with any other hotel guests. The large space allowed for baby to run around and stay entertained. The hotel provided a pack and play as a crib, which wasnt the best but we made it work. It would have been nice to have a better mattress at the bottom, but i brought my own crib sheet for the baby which helped add a bit of cushion. There are 2 pools on the property, one that is gated and deeper and another that is open and has more shallow depth. This was perfect for my toddler with the 9" areas along the perimeter of the pool. It was his first time being able to stand in a pool on his own. He had a blast being in the water. Baby was still on CA time, so husband and I took turns going out and grabbing food since baby was out by 5 or 6pm. It was nice that the food trucks and the grocery store plaza across the street were available for us within walking distance (I recommend Isla Chibugan, and happy hour at Pizza Paradiso). This was our first trip with our baby, and we were definitely spoiled staying at the Aston Kaanapali Shores.

We enjoyed our stay at Aston Kaanapali Shores. We booked two nights at Aston Kaanapali Shores via Chase Travel using points. Super easy to book and it was really easy to check in as well. On the day of our check in, we arrived earlier than the check in time (4 PM). But luckily, they were able to hold our bags and then an hour later, they got our room ready early. The 1 bedroom studio we got was really spacious. We had the room for just the two of us, but you could easily fit a family comfortably here or a group of 4-5. It had everything we needed for the short stay: full kitchen, balcony, washer/dryer, and AC. The resort also has a lot of amenities like a pool, restaurant, gym, and it's right on the beach. It's also walking distance from the Times grocery, some restaurants and gift shops, and the food truck park. They also have DVDs to rent in the lobby and you get credits to rent one (or a few) during your stay. You can also rent beach towels and other beach equipment. WiFi worked well in our room and we were able to stream movies on our iPad with no problem. We did have to pay for parking (~$11 a day) and with the parking garage they have, we were able to park directly on our floor. The hallways are all outdoors. The property itself does look a lot older. The elevators are old too and they move kinda slowly. I saw some photos online of what looks like some renovated rooms but the one we got was older as well. We didn't mind it, but if you're choosing a place for the aesthetic, that's something to keep in mind. Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again!

View from the hotel balcony!! Can't beat this view

They have some that do, or the pool. It was huge. Nicely decorated and clean. Lots of space. Two bedrooms and sofa bed. Foosball table. Beach stuff to borrow and even a wagon to haul stuff. Parking garage right there. Always found an open space. Bell hops were helpful and friendly. They got nice gym, clay tennis courts, swimming pool, hot tub, and BBQ grills. All well kept. I could go on but why? It was great condo to stay.

Our partial ocean view was exactly what the pictures showed on the website. A microwave or toaster would be a great item to add to the rooms, or at least near the vending machines on each floor. Beach access- BEAUTIFUL. so close. Constant views. The beach is seconds away from the resort. Maui brewing co also has ocean front views and was super nice for sunset. Resort- the pool was cleaned every morning and always warm. Plenty of seating options around the pool and around the resort in general. The vegetation was really nice. All staff were SO kind. The grounds always seemed clean and relaxing. Cultural classes- absolute favorite part of our trip. We had so much fun learning about the Hawaiian culture through story telling, history, garden walks, lei ceremony, lei making, and wood carving. Overall we had such an amazing experience, learned so much, and had constant beautiful views. Only complaint is that I wish there were more food options at our resort, or microwaves. Maui Brewing Co was okay, but limited. Whalers Village is a quick walk and has a variety of options.

There's the popular outdoor mall, Whaler's Village about a 5 minute walk away with restaurants and shops, just follow the beach path. LUGGAGE STORAGE (1/5): We arrived a bit early and the staff held onto our luggage while we went out to get food. I didn't see where it was taken. I did not realize that they would store our luggage outside in the humidity!!! I thought they would store it inside the hotel in a closet in the back. I had temperature-sensitive medication in my luggage and when we came back to check-in, I was shocked to find our luggage stored outside. Had I known that, I would have asked them to store my meds in the fridge for me. Thankfully, my meds were okay in the end, but it did give me panic. PARKING (5/5): Since we booked through Costco, the parking was included with our stay. We had in/out privileges and no valet required. STAFF (5/5): I forgot her name, but she welcomed us very friendly and checked us in. Michelle I think was her name. We asked about local places to eat and she kindly wrote us a list. The housekeeping staff was also very nice and always greeted us in the halls. SHUTTLE/TROLLEY (5/5): There's a free green trolley that will take you to Whaler's Village and came around every 30min or so (check the schedule) and will also drop you off at nearby hotels along the beach, not just the Outrigger. Also, the hotel has it's own private shuttle that will follow the same route within the resort grounds if you don't want to wait for the trolley. Again, they don't exit the resort. One night we went to a nearby hotel (The Bungalos) for a music event but had just missed the trolley and the guys out front said they could drive us in the hotel van. And then gave us a number to call them when we were ready to go back to the hotel, so we called them but wanted to go to dinner at Whaler's Village after and they took us. So so convenient. really nice guy! It's complimentary but we tipped our driver and he was always so kind! We read in the handouts that they did a special going-away ceremony at the end of your stay but unfortunately we had to miss it to catch our early flight, so Michelle was kind enough to give us the necklace and do a mini version for us there at the check-out counter. POOL (1/5): We didn't even try the pool. It's quite small in size, and it was so hot, and no shade anywhere, so we didn't bother. They did provide towels though that you could swap out and stuff, so we used those and just went to the beach. RENTALS: There's a hut on-site where you get the towels, but also offers rental stuff for the water, beach chairs, etc. Note: the beach chairs + umbrella rentals are quite steep, I think was like 2 chairs + 1 umbrella almost $85 and had to return by 5pm. We ended up going to Costco and instead and bought 2 tommy bahama chairs and umbrella and used them the whole week while we were there, and even used our chairs at other places too. We saved some money that way and used that money instead to tip the staff and buy food in Maui b/c it ain't cheap! ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: We were given a print-out at check-in with activities throughout the week, however we showed up to one of them and there was nothing going on but there was a gentleman there. We were told that the print-out was outdated so we had missed the activity since it was earlier in the week. So don't go off the print-out. He had a different schedule available at his table. So..there's that. Overall, I would not mind staying here again but would be interested in staying at the other hotels along the Kanapali beach.

Unfortunately upon checkin, my requested two queen bed accommodations were unable to be provided. At the recommendation of the front desk clerk Caroline and the MOD (Manager on Duty) Keith We decided to opt for the king bed and roll in "Heavenly" twin. Keith was very apologetic for the lack of requested accomodations but provided us with an upgraded ocean view room and The LĀNAI . This resort is 5 stars in all respects. The staff experience was exceptional. The food & beverage experience was outstanding. The resort is spotless clean and meticulously maintained. The pools and surrounding decks were large enough that we never felt crowded or had an issue finding chairs. The resort has a huge game area "Valley Alley" with a full bar and kitchen. Well appointed with the latest games including VR, air hickey and even bowling. The resort is conveniently located right next to Whalers Village. A short 3 minute walk. Our room was well appointed with all the ammenities that you would expect from the Westin brand. From thick bath towels and The Heavenly bedding to ice cold A/C. This resort has it all. Our experience was made even better by the exceptional and most sincere service provided by Miss. Giadee Kaiwi Hōkūpa'a Experience Coordinator. She made our visit that much better with her warm smile and pleasant attitude. A true ambassador to the Westin name.

Other times we were ocean front and it was incredible to watch the whales. The little kitchenette is perfect. They are well stocked. And I love that you can do laundry. The free valet was fantastic, and the room was spacious, clean, and had a gorgeous ocean view. We had an issue with our mattress and it was never comfortable. That was the big bummer of the stay. They replaced our mattress after we said something but it didn't fix the issue. When we laid down, we always felt like where laying way back like toward the headboard, feet higher than our head. It may have been a bed frame issue. It wasn't the worst, we just ended sleeping the other way. You have to call housekeeping to get service. That was super easy and they did a great job. All staff on site were wonderful. The grounds were well-kept, and we loved spending time by the pool--there were a few different pools, each with its own unique feel. Surprisingly, we went down the slide several times (haha it's not just for kids). Duke's on the property was a big plus. They had servers taking orders pool side. From the pools, amenities and the gorgeous view. The rooms are condos that come with kitchens, laundry and balconies. The first time we stayed we did a one bedroom partial ocean, but this time around we did a studio and enjoyed the full ocean view. The staff have spoiled us with some sweet congrats cookies that we really enjoyed. This property also has a Dukes on site which is super convenient. They do get busy though so we've just ordered to-go and enjoyed our food on the balcony. One thing I wish this hotel did have would be a cafe, or some kind of coffee on site. There's a market in the other tower, but the building we stayed in has one under construction. I'm hoping they put a coffee spot because it would be perfect! We love the location and feel when we come here and the included parking is a HUGE plus! I couldn't recommend the Honua Kai more and we look forward to more visits here in the future.

We were also situated at the Moana building which was definitely the best spot at the hotel because you get the full view of Black Rock and the ocean rather than the resort grounds. Highly recommend getting a room in that section. Additionally, they gave us champagne, chocolates, and a personalized card for our anniversary! The lobby had such amazing views. We also loved the pool. Lots of pool seats available unlike other hotels. I guess it helps that it's at the end of the strip so you don't really have as much crowds coming through. We grabbed some snorkel gear to explore Black Rock and it was full of marine life. What a beautiful spot (I grew up on an island myself and will tell you it's a legit snorkeling experience). The food and beverage options were limited. Breakfast was pretty pricey so we decided to go elsewhere to try a little bit of everything for meals which we were planning to do anyway. We did get food at the pool bar - karaage chicken and fries were so good! We went back for the fries and got a fruit smoothie. One downside is that since the Moana building was at the end of the property so we had to take several elevator rides through the hotel just to get to the lobby. That was fine since it encouraged us to get our steps in but could be frustrating. All in all a wonderful experience!

From the lobby's balcony, you look out at the beautiful landscaping, the fun pools, and the beautiful ocean staring right at you. The "Magical" Highlights Let's start with the highlights, because parts of this trip were truly breathtaking. * The Beach & Black Rock: The beach was absolutely stunning and surprisingly uncrowded. The most magical part of the entire trip was wading in the water at Black Rock. Two days in a row, I had two HUGE turtles swimming around me; it felt as if they were following me and playing with me. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever encountered. * The Staff: The staff deserves a medal. Every person greets you with a "Happy Aloha" that feels genuine. My husband and I felt like we'd been best friends with the poolside bartender for years. * Housekeeping: The housekeeping staff was absolutely amazing. Every time we came back to our room, it was pristine and very clean. I made sure to leave a $10 tip every day just to let our housekeeper know that we truly appreciated her service. * The Drink: Order the "Put the Lime in the Coconut." It's $22, but it became my very best friend. The Room & The View The hallways leading to the rooms are a tad bit outdated, as are the rooms themselves. However, you are only spending about 5 to 10% of your time in your room anyway. * The Mountain View: We had a room facing the golf course, which offered the most beautiful mountain views. * The Balcony: Our balcony was only big enough to sit one person, but I truly enjoyed sitting out there every morning with my coffee. It's not worth spending the extra hundred dollars for an ocean view when the water is just a short walk away. Pro-Tips for Your Stay * The Pool Chair Hustle: If you want a spot by the pool--especially if you want one with an umbrella--be prepared to put your towels out on the lounges around 6:30 in the morning. By the time you actually head down between 9:30 and 10:00 AM, they will pretty much all be full. * The Safeway Save: I highly recommend stopping at Safeway to pick up items for your refrigerator and having some beer on hand. It helps save a little bit of money considering the other costs. * The $47 Breakfast Gamble: Be prepared to spend $47 on the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Some days it's an absolute hit, others it's a bit of a mess, but the waitstaff and hostesses are always amazing. Take full advantage so you can skip lunch! * The Starbucks Struggle: Expect a 30-minute wait. But hey, who cares about the wait? You are on vacation time! The Cost of Paradise Along with your daily room charge of $600 or above, be prepared for the extras. It adds up very quickly: * $56 daily surcharge fee * $45 daily garage parking fee * $47 breakfast fee (per person) * Extra charges for umbrella and chair rentals on the beach The Verdict: If you want a great pool, a stunning beach, and turtle encounters, this is your place. If you want updated amenities and a bed that doesn't swallow you whole (ours had quite a "dip"), you might want to look elsewhere.
