We really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Regency. Upon arrival you're greeted with a welcome lei. They also provided a bottle of champagne as we're celebrating our anniversary. In addition, everybody at the resort were so kind and helpful. Valet offered to hold our luggage while we parked our car. The resort itself is beautiful and everything was well maintained and clean. There's water filling stations everywhere on property. We loved the animals on property from penguins to swans to birds. It's also a close walk to Whalers Village. Pools - open 24 hrs and perfect for a night swim. There's one Hot Tub and two pools on property. One for adults and the other for kids. You also have access to Hyatt Vacation Club Pools, which was a nice perk. There are kiosks around to scan your room bracelet for towels. Beach - Not the best beach area, but it's a short walk to the Westin which has a better beach location for swimming. Fitness Room - Very Spacious and had more than what we expected. There were free-weights, machines, pelatons, treadmills and more. Towels were readily available and there's even wet towelettes. Club Access - This was a huge plus to the property and so glad we had it during our stay. At the club access you're served breakfast, light snacks for lunch, and a light dinner. Hot Breakfast was different every morning and there were plenty of seating. In the afternoon, they served light snacks. For dinner, they would usually have a protein, carb, salad, and dessert. It was simple, but more than enough for dinner. They had fountain drinks, juices, espresso/coffee, and tea. It was so nice not to step out for meals. It saved us so much time! Parking - There's a lot in front of the property and in the back of the property. $35 for self-park or $40 for valet.

5 out of 5. I cried on the way to the airport when we had to leave. Maui itself is already breath-takingly beautiful as it is, so this Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa was the cherry on top of the cake. This sprawling estate sits at the top of the hill, the cream of the crop. You pass all the other hotels on the way up (not that there's anything wrong with the other hotels); I've only stayed at this one on this trip. Service was wonderful from the beginning. I actually accidentally pulled into the time share sister hotel on accident, but the valet somehow knew I was supposed to drive a little higher to the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa. Side note: you can use both pools and the facilities which are both amazing and pretty much next to each other. Every valet worker was kind and showed us impeccable ohana every time we needed the car. Please bring cash and tip them well. One younger gentleman even asked what we did that day and was happy to engage in a little convo and give us recs for snorkeling for next time. I wish I got his name, but he has a great, welcoming smile and a heart of gold. June checked us in and was fabulous. She understood the assignment. She knew I was on the Costco Travel budget but did everything she could to upgrade me to a FULL ocean-view room at a reasonable cost. She showed me different available rooms with their views on an iPad, and I am so thankful for her and her outstanding service! Hearing the crashing waves as we were lulled to sleep each night while waking up to the sun glistening on the surface of the blue green ocean will be a mesmerizing memory that we will have forever. We got lei-ed with beautiful necklaces (every guest does). Staff greeted us with a smile. They were happy, willing, and eager to help. The hotel has its own Japanese garden, swans, parrots, koi pond, and penguins! We loved the penguin feeding at 9:30 a.m. (happens daily) because the wonderful lady gives you great information about the sweet creatures. The hotel activities include lei making, hula dancing, and a lot more. You also have direct access to the beach which is so convenient. There's also a walkway where several people took sunrise and sunset walks. The pool is a nice size, and there are eateries on property from fine dining to casual as well as shave ice (but we went to Island Village for excellent shave ice and coffee at Whaler's Village which is about a 15 minute walk). There's also a cute trolly that can take you part way there. If you drive, you can get validated parking for spending $15 at the ABC Store. We ate the buffet breakfast at Swan Court, and again, everyone was super nice. The food was delicious, especially the chicken congee, coconut chia pudding, and bread pudding. There's something for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters. Service was signature ohana spirit, as always. The entire facility was clean. It had everything we needed and more. I'm still floored and can't believe this was our experience at Maui. Oh, and the Drums of the Pacific Luau on property was top tier. The performers are experts; they are beautiful inside and out. I still got nervous during the fire-throwing part, but they did a phenomenal job. If you get there a little early, once you're inside, they even have a moment to give you temporary tattoos, take a professional photo, and do an activity. You can also take photos with a dancer at the end. They have staff help you reserve the luau or any other activity your heart desires. Gayle has been working there for 28 years, and she truly enjoys working there and helping you--service with a smile--truly. She answered all of my questions about the luau, even at the very end of her day, she took her time and didn't make me feel like I was holding her up. Pro tip: Return all of your pool towels one by one and wait for the machine to finish processing. They are all chipped, and you could be charged $25 for each towel if you don't keep track of and return your towels. It's sad they even have to do that because some people steal them. I really loved my stay so much and can't wait to return one day. I highly recommend!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property even though it wasn't perfect. It's a great location and the property is beautiful and sprawling. We got a nice room with an awesome view. They have a pen with about 8 penguins in the lobby that is super cool, as well as some parrots and other birds to check out. While we didn't use it, they have a great convenience store on property, as well as a few shops with jewelry, clothing and art. They were doing a concert on the Friday night in their courtyard that was pretty annoying. The artist was boring as could be and went until 10 pm. Room was fairly soundproff, but not enough to keep the monotonous droning out. Service around the property is a little uneven with some being great and others being just okay.

It's our first time in Maui, and we came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived, everything has been perfect -- the staff are so kind, and the hotel is spotless and beautiful. Even though we don't check out until Thursday, I wanted to write this review early because everything so far has been absolutely wonderful. The pool, the room, breakfast, and even the snacks -- everything has exceeded our expectations. We've had such a joyful and relaxing time just staying within the resort!

Its been a while since I stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Maui. The reasons for the 5 Star rating is from the start, Connor the Manager showed a lot of Aloha when he reached out to me via email. In addition, when we arrived, Hume the valet, Jim at the front desk, and the bellman Owen also showed a lot of Aloha welcoming us to the hotel. We had a ocean view room (upgrade) on the 21st floor, and the view could not have been better. We also received a ton of comp snacks made by Hawaiian Sweets, a Maui based company. Lastly we received waters and local soft drinks. Although the Regency Club was small, the staff Lisalani and Wannette were super nice, and showed a lot of Aloha. Unfortunately, the food was just ok compared to other domestic hotel clubs/lounges I have been to. For example, the sausage was cold for bfast (no lid on serving dish), and the fried shrimp in the afternoon were the frozen variety. Additionally, for some reason alcohol was not hosted. I don't know that I would upgrade to a Club access room in the future here. Its not worth the cost. On the other hand, the gym was massive, and had every machine/apparatus a regular gym person could want. Overall, the entire experience was real positive, and I would stay here again. The property is in a good location, and its right on the water.

This place is nice and the beach is just a few steps away. If you enjoy animals you'll want to stay or visit here. They have penguins, coy, parrots and swans. They have valet or self parking. There are three different towers of rooms. I stayed at the Nipili Tower (closest to entering the property). The room was spacious and very inviting. I had an ocean view which was nice to wake up to every morning. Since I am pregnant I have to wake up every night to go to the bathroom and there were lights that turned on just enough underneath the bed so illuminate my path. This is my first time ever seeing this and I absolutely appreciated it. They provide two refillable (you can refill throughout the property) water bottles which came in handy. The property itself has a few restaurants and which are quite expensive. The only thing I had to consume while I was here was the breakfast buffet and that was because it came with my stay. The service during breakfast was wonderful. The buffet itself was okay. A few hot foods with pastries, fresh cut fruit and other continental breakfast items. My favorite here was the ube pancakes! It was so full of flavor. A must here!! During my stay they were doing construction at the pool so I believe there is only one pool and there could be two jacuzzis. There's also a slide which I didn't use.

The Hyatt Regency Maui is a combination of positive and not so great. On the positive side many staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and clean and felt updated. The penguins and other birds are a cute attraction as well. The hotel is located relatively close to the "Whalers Village" where you can dine and shop. Conversely, If you are a beach sand person you should be aware that there is effectively no beach due to erosion. Also, a portion of the property is under construction and if you are in the main tower you will hear the buzz saw all day. (The Hotel disclosed the construction prior to arrival) and a portion of the pool is boarded off. Parts of the hotel are showing their age as well. As you would expect the food outlets are expensive but the food is very average. The Regency Club offers processed eggs and yogurt with modified food starch and 14g of added sugar. There are some fresh fruits, muffins and other items. However, you would think Hyatt could do better with this Club.

Great hotel with lots of pools, animals, and activities. Easy and close beach access right in front. Affordable parking options (self-parking $25 and valet $40). Clean and spacious rooms. About half a mile walk to Whalers Village which has plenty of shopping and restaurants. The highlight of this hotel for us was the stargazing on the roof which is offered on a daily basis (weather permitting) as this is a one-of-a-kind offering from a hotel. The instructor was so informative and we saw more stars and planets at such a close and clear picture it was amazing. The only disappointment is that they recently renovated their pool and removed the grotto and bar. I feel like this was one of the most unique parts of this hotel in terms of their grounds and aesthetic. One thing that we loved was the fact that the pools were heavily heated in the winter and there is no curfew for the pools which made it all the more enjoyable for night swimming and breezy winter days where the sun isn't shining as bright. Another great thing was they let Hyatt guests use the pools at the vacation club as well. Nice perk!

We stayed 5 nights at the resort. The pool area gets busy, hard to find chairs in the afternoon. I did love the night swims and the lounge access was great opens at 630 am and closes at 8 pm. Our view from our room was spectacular and next door the Hyatt vacation club in the store has a deal where you can buy a reusable cup for 7 day for $80. So worth it if you have kids who love smoothies $15 for a large smoothie. We made use of the cup. We also used the adult pool next door. Make sure to return the towels daily or they will charge your room on the bill. I had to get towel charges removed from our bill.

I stayed here for only one night in October 2024. We stayed 3 nights at the AC Marriott Wailea, two nights at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria, and one night (our last night) at the Hyatt Regency. Only cons - the penguins were missing and the area looked a little bit under construction/lacking without them since they were not around. Only other con - we only stayed one night. We needed 3 nights to get the absolute experience of this hotel. My mother didn't have time to see the gardens or enjoy the pool. It was just too short of a stay. It would definitely have been better to stay two-three nights. I used up my Hyatt points and booked one night here. It was definitely a teaser trip, and I sort of regret not booking at least two nights instead of one. Pros: staff were so kind and nice. We got real leis upon arrival that were so special. Most hotels have cut this exotic perk, and this felt extremely nostalgic, wholesome, and loving. Definitely felt the ALOHA with the leis. We even wore them back home on the plane. We got wrist bands (instead of key cards) to wear which were nice since you never had to feel like you were going to loose your key or get locked out of your room. My mother has had two knee replacements surgeries so the staff waived the parking fee for the night. The other two hotels we stayed at did not do this, and I thought that was extremely caring and considerate. We almost self parked which would have been a difficult struggle since parking was a trek behind the golf course. We got club level status so we enjoyed an upgraded higher floor room and lounge access for appetizers and breakfast. The coconut shrimp was so good. We also absolutely loved the desserts and fruit. We saw a rainbow in the morning. The yukata kimono robes were also really nice. We loved the spaciousness of the room. It was recently remodeled and had a lot of nice amenities. We loved seeing the tropical birds in the morning and all the beautiful animals. So wished we would have stayed longer here.

Absolute dreamy experience. The staff here are top notch. It's such a night and day from your average hotel stay. Pros: + Sheldon (valet) brings the positive fun energy + Got lei'd @ check-in! + Pool staff will walk around after lunch time offering free Bubbies mochi ice cream + Convenient towel system placed near pool and elevator + Pool staff walk around intermittently to take food and drink orders + Very clean rooms Good To Know: - Valet is $40; self parking is $25 - Construction happening under Japengo/by the pool - A fair amount of families with little children I booked a YOLO/treat myself trip a month ago and stayed here for 3 nights 4 days. It was an absolute dreamy vacation. Literally did nothing but sit by the pool and walk into the ocean to float around. Tell me you're getting old without telling me you're getting old. Hyatt Regency Maui Resort excels in making hotel patrons feel welcomed. It truly is the small things - warm demeanor from staff, orchids all around the hotel room, ice cream by the pool.

We stayed for 6 nights and truly enjoyed our vacation. The hotel seems to be new, room was clean and light. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were greeted with bottle of champagne and a pair of kukui leas which was so cool! Swimming pools work 24hours, hot tub until 10:30pm. The beach is nice and clean but there are no chase loungers. There are many animals on the territory: African penguins, swans, various parrots, and we even saw a cat. We did not get a chance to find flamingos though. Our package included the Breakfast buffet which was very good! We are Hyatt members and have been to many other hotels, and can state that this type of buffet was one of the best ones. Fresh fruits and salad greenery, different types of eggs, bakes, toast station, good Hawaiian Paradise coffee and different juices (try guava juice!). For our last night we had a dinner at Umalu. Good food but nothing special. One of the evening we really wanted to try Japengo restaurant. Came at 8:32pm and we were not seated as the last seating is at 8:30pm :( That was a bit frustrating. Overall, great resort to stay as a couple and a family. Definitely would come back.

Everything from service to views to activities to location were great. I only have awesome things to say about the Hyatt Regency Hotel here in Maui. Especially if you have the Regency club access. We stayed on the top floor in a very large room overlooking both the ocean and the golf course. The Regency club has snack foods and sometimes main horse foods all day long. The service is exceptional. The views are incredible. The grounds are so well kept it's unbelievable. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Whalers Village so the location is awesome. Valet parking is $40 per night. Self parking $25 per night. And they have different activities you can sign up for. We made some Kukui nut bracelets. And we also did yoga and Pilates. Terrific time!

Ask the Community - SpaWell Maui at Hyatt Regency Maui Resort

The rooms have a beautiful aroma scent? What is it and do they sell it at the hotel?

The swim up bar grotto looks nice. Do you have to get out of the water and sit at the bar or are there stools in the water?

You have to get out of the water. The bar does not actually touch the pool at all, it is separated by a walkway.

    Is there a lazy river?

No but the pool extends thru the grotto into the kids area which has a small lazy river for kids

Are their free/included lounge chairs in shade (or with umbrellas) other than by the pool? Like on the grassy areas? We have zero interest in sitting by a pool.

No, I believe you could rent them for $10 per day

What's the best location to rent a cabana?

    Hyatt Maui Resort and Spa

Do they rent out kid size tennis rackets?

How busy is it in August? Is it still pretty relaxing for adults or are there lots of kids running around?

    Is their onsite guest parking?

Yes there is onsite parking for a fee.

Can you use the facilities at the Residence Club next door(Pool,Dining)?

Yes, we were able to :)

Can guest take the food in club lounge to go? Will the hotel provide containers if guests prefer to eat meal in room or on the beach?

For all intents and purposes Hyatt Regency Maui is closed. Any guests that would be in house, and I can't understand why they would want to be here now, can only get takeout food which would be in containers. Btw...You cannot eat on the beach. You… Read more

I heard they are doing some remodeling. Anyone who's stayed there recently and can share their experience? Any of the pool/bar areas under remodeling? Thanks in advance for any info

I am here now and none of those things are disrupted. It's just the Lahaina tower being renovated.

When is the best time to book to get the best rate?

It's always good to book any major trip at least 6 months out for best deals. It varies pending the destination.

Is there good cooling / ac in the rooms?

Yes. I had a room with lanai with oceanview. It was nice to open the door in the morning and in the evening for fresh air and the sound of ocean wave was welcoming.

Do the TV's have an HDMI input?

3 HDMI ports. Only one is used and they have a powered USB in for chrome cast Etc.

Hi y'all just have a few questions, thx!: What water sport activities are available at the resort…

Should be able to see activities on their website.

Can you come to the hotel just for the stargazing?

Aloha Erica, Yes, you certainly can! We have 3 star gazing shows, from our hotel rooftop at 8, 9 and 10pm each evening. Contact our hotel concierge at 808-667-4727, or email at hrmconcierge@expedia.com to book. Hope you can experience this unique… Read more

    Do they offer continental breakfast?

They offer an amazing breakfast buffet with limited dishes on the menu.

Do kids 5 and younger eat free?? I know some restaurants do offer that...? New question: I saw that…

no. for the breakfast buffet, they charge kids aged 5-12 the price of their age. 5 y.o. are $5, 12 y.o. are $12. It's better than the adult price, which is $32 for the buffet!

How deep is the pool at the end of the big water slide?

I believe it was 9 feet

Does anyone know the rates for the different cabanas available?

Poolside? The smaller round ones for two was $80/day and had to be reserved (usually the night before with some day of). It included them bringing iced water regularly.… Read more

Our second time here. Our first time as a single couple. It was fun, since we got the upper pool…read morewhich was quite big and nice. That was about 5 years ago. The rooms were old and outdated. And we were not impressed with the rooms, only the pools. Fast forward to just recently we came with our toddler son. The rooms are nicer now, it looks like the renovated. Like the bathroom looks renovated and the toilet isn't the slow flushing toilets. Rooms aren't too bad. Carpet wasn't dirty as I remembered it. Beds are lumpy though and it's also the worst made bed ever. They should learn from Mexico, their beds made are perfect. Westins bed is non fitted sheets with a undersize mattress cover, every thing moves around when you move around. So by the time you wake up, half of the mattress is exposed bc all the sheets are small. Or the sheets are all messed up beyond recognition! Lol. I had to constantly make the bed myself because any small movement moves everything out of place. Pools- we were only on the kids side. The one with the slide is a pretty small pool, but the one next to it is big (not kids specific). Good pool area for kids. We liked it. Not too many chairs but enough for the day. They need more small tables for drinks. It was very limited. The pool water was also extremely cold. We came in May and the water was like ice water. Probably good on a hot day but it was windy and cold. What is odd is the pool next to the kids pool was not ice cold. It felt just right. We had to move over there. But one day it was not ice water, so it's a hit or miss with water temp. Best thing was their arcade. I don't recall they had this 5 years ago. It was awesome!! My toddler loved this. What a great way to entertain them. Also has a bar there for the adults and bowling alley. Not real bowling but close enough. It was cool. Arcade bartender made a really good lychee martini, best one I've tried. The arcade is the BEST part of staying here with a toddler. They also got a new restaurant- Ulu, which we came for breakfast everyday. It was good. Enjoyed their pool bar too. Every one was really friendly too. Overall, it's a good resort. Westin has the best resort pool and now arcade. Also close to Whalers Village. We would come back again.

I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Westin in Kaanapali. I'd say that it checked the boxes in…read moreevery regard that was important to me - convenience, great location, updated facilities, and family friendly. I came here late April 2026. When you first arrive and walk into the lobby, it is quite stunning. I don't know when their latest renovation was, but it feels updated within the past 7-8 years, modern but also keeping that nice Hawaiian touch. You're welcomed by several live plants and flowers covering the walls in the breezeway when you walk towards the front desk, and can spot a waterfall and koi pond. Rooms - As Marriott Bonvoy members, we luckily got upgraded to the room with view of ocean and expansive pool area - literally looks like the picture featured on this Yelp review. It's a stunning view. The room itself was also nicely updated! It felt modern, yet still cozy and inviting. We got 2 queens, and it seems that every room comes with a balcony. We all loved the balcony - great way to be outside and enjoy the weather, live music, and dry your swimsuits. Anyway, the room itself was very comfortable, and it's hard to find updated rooms in Maui for a somewhat decent price. I think my only complaint is that it was a bit small - it was ok for the 3 of us (2 adults + 1 toddler), but I can't imagine coming here as a family of 4 with teenagers, and have to squeeze into the small room. Swimming pools - there were several to choose from, including a designated kid's pool, regular pool, and adult only pools. They were each nicely designed and landscaped with the trees - there were several slides for each pool, and designed in such a way where you couldn't even notice them. Also, the adult pool was hidden, so little ones aren't tempted to access the adult only pool, and I'm sure it worked well the other way by not being able to hear the kids! The towel process was a little annoying. We were given several towel cards good for each towel. But the annoying thing was that we had to carry separate towel cards separate from our room key, that was a wristband. Might as well just combine the two to make it more convenient for guests? Not that it was a huge hinderance - just a suggestion. Beach access - you are basically right there, on a public beach. It was extremely convenient to be right there, grabbing our towels from the hotel and using them for the beach. If you want lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc. though, you will have to pay a fee to rent them. Obviously it's not as nice as other hotels that have that all set up for you, like we've experienced in other countries, but hey, it's just the Westin. Restaurants - There aren't too many restaurants to choose from here - but we did really enjoy the Hale Moʻolelo Restaurant/Bar. We didn't actually eat here at all, but enjoyed cocktails here every night. They have live music DAILY each evening, and welcome all ages, including our toddler. I was getting tired of the Hawaiian tiki drinks, started ordering regular cocktails, which were decent. The live music alone was wonderful each evening. There was also the Ulu Kitchen by Merriman's, which we were somewhat interested in trying, but never got around to it. Marriott Bonvoy members also get free breakfast with their stay. They did not have a designated breakfast restaurant, unfortunately, but rather they gave us credit for the convenience store that served hot food and other beverages. They had options such as Loco Moco, scrambled eggs and potatoes, acai bowls, spam masubi. Honestly it was all very disappointing food - my daughter really only liked the spam masubi that didn't seem worth it for one entree item. We did utilize the free beverage for bottled water each day though, which was convenient. Location - was wonderful too. It was located right next to Whaler's Village, which is a shopping center with lots of restaurants, coffee, an ABC store, etc. It's a short walk, and we walked here each morning to get coffee, have my toddler run around, and also walk around with her in the stroller during her naps. The hotel is also located with just a few minutes drive to Lahaina, where more restaurants were. Amenities - they have random pet parrots that come out during the daytime, which my daughter loved seeing each day. Fun to see the fish in the koi pond. Also, they have random vendors/activities in their breezeway where the shops are, including pineapple tasting, hat making, etc. which can be fun for the little ones. The arcade was also pretty amazing. Some of the games have this "play until you win" feature, which was really nice for all kids playing to win something. My daughter was hooked. Elevators can be slow. We found that the ones located on the side closest to the front desk were faster than the ones closer to the Arcade! Just realize that this place seemed like it was intended for families, but it was executed quite nicely. Would highly recommend.

We have been…read moreto places like Paiute GC in Las Vegas and the bag drop makes you feel like you are a pro. A good morning and welcome to the GC is better than what we got. Not to be harsh, just comparing for the review. Hence 4star too instead of 5. Layout of the course is great. Elevation changes etc. Holes are undulated. Pro shop attendants were nice and attentive. Sherry and Elaine were great. Golf carts are newish. Electric. With GPS. The pins were not updated in the gps. I have been to cheaper courses that had this done properly. So not sure what happened there. So that added to the 4star rating as well. Driving range is good for all clubs. But they make you walk over there. About 100 yards. Then you get a small basket of about 25 balls. It is complimentary and enough to warm up. Plus there were extra from other golfers where they didn't hit all of the balls. There were about 8 mats if I remember correctly. We did not wait at all to hit. Starter was good. Golf course condition was amazing considering two huge storms just came through. Cannot believe they got this place cleaned up that quickly. We only were cart path only on 3 holes. And those holes looked fine. Probably too soft. Cooler on the cart was filled with ice and two complimentary bottled waters. So the bag drop redeem themselves a little. We appreciated it. There is a drink cart. And she came around at least twice in our round. So that is great. There are no direction signs on a couple holes. Like going to 16, there is a message, but we did not know which side of the street. I think hole 6 was the other one. There are ball cleaners/trash cans, and water stations. That was great. Did not see any ground under repair anywhere on the course. There were however more than a few sand traps that had mud in the bottom of the trap. Not the whole trap, just a 8-10' circle sometimes. We just moved the ball. So some traps need grooming. Others were groomed so they are obviously working it. I think thats it. This place is a 5 star GC. Just had a couple storms.

Our…read moreroom wasn't ready when we checked in so they actually upgraded us to a nicer room -- very nice gesture! We were also situated at the Moana building which was definitely the best spot at the hotel because you get the full view of Black Rock and the ocean rather than the resort grounds. Highly recommend getting a room in that section. Additionally, they gave us champagne, chocolates, and a personalized card for our anniversary! The lobby had such amazing views. We also loved the pool. Lots of pool seats available unlike other hotels. I guess it helps that it's at the end of the strip so you don't really have as much crowds coming through. We grabbed some snorkel gear to explore Black Rock and it was full of marine life. What a beautiful spot (I grew up on an island myself and will tell you it's a legit snorkeling experience). The food and beverage options were limited. Breakfast was pretty pricey so we decided to go elsewhere to try a little bit of everything for meals which we were planning to do anyway. We did get food at the pool bar - karaage chicken and fries were so good! We went back for the fries and got a fruit smoothie. One downside is that since the Moana building was at the end of the property so we had to take several elevator rides through the hotel just to get to the lobby. That was fine since it encouraged us to get our steps in but could be frustrating. All in all a wonderful experience!

From the lobby's balcony, you look out at the beautiful landscaping, the fun pools, and the beautiful ocean staring right at you. The "Magical" Highlights Let's start with the highlights, because parts of this trip were truly breathtaking. * The Beach & Black Rock: The beach was absolutely stunning and surprisingly uncrowded. The most magical part of the entire trip was wading in the water at Black Rock. Two days in a row, I had two HUGE turtles swimming around me; it felt as if they were following me and playing with me. It was the most beautiful sight I've ever encountered. * The Staff: The staff deserves a medal. Every person greets you with a "Happy Aloha" that feels genuine. My husband and I felt like we'd been best friends with the poolside bartender for years. * Housekeeping: The housekeeping staff was absolutely amazing. Every time we came back to our room, it was pristine and very clean. I made sure to leave a $10 tip every day just to let our housekeeper know that we truly appreciated her service. * The Drink: Order the "Put the Lime in the Coconut." It's $22, but it became my very best friend. The Room & The View The hallways leading to the rooms are a tad bit outdated, as are the rooms themselves. However, you are only spending about 5 to 10% of your time in your room anyway. * The Mountain View: We had a room facing the golf course, which offered the most beautiful mountain views. * The Balcony: Our balcony was only big enough to sit one person, but I truly enjoyed sitting out there every morning with my coffee. It's not worth spending the extra hundred dollars for an ocean view when the water is just a short walk away. Pro-Tips for Your Stay * The Pool Chair Hustle: If you want a spot by the pool--especially if you want one with an umbrella--be prepared to put your towels out on the lounges around 6:30 in the morning. By the time you actually head down between 9:30 and 10:00 AM, they will pretty much all be full. * The Safeway Save: I highly recommend stopping at Safeway to pick up items for your refrigerator and having some beer on hand. It helps save a little bit of money considering the other costs. * The $47 Breakfast Gamble: Be prepared to spend $47 on the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Some days it's an absolute hit, others it's a bit of a mess, but the waitstaff and hostesses are always amazing. Take full advantage so you can skip lunch! * The Starbucks Struggle: Expect a 30-minute wait. But hey, who cares about the wait? You are on vacation time! The Cost of Paradise Along with your daily room charge of $600 or above, be prepared for the extras. It adds up very quickly: * $56 daily surcharge fee * $45 daily garage parking fee * $47 breakfast fee (per person) * Extra charges for umbrella and chair rentals on the beach The Verdict: If you want a great pool, a stunning beach, and turtle encounters, this is your place. If you want updated amenities and a bed that doesn't swallow you whole (ours had quite a "dip"), you might want to look elsewhere.
