This is a very nice resort hotel. Our king bed room had a marvelous ocean view. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very plush. This room also had a terrace overlooking the Pacific ocean where we could enjoy the view and trade winds. This hotel is right on the beach and has a lot of fun amenities and activities on site. If you prefer you can also walk next door to the Hyatt Vacation Club and enjoy some quiet time at their adult only pool. On check in we were helped by Jeff on the World of Hyatt desk. Jeff is a wonderful human being who is caring empathetic and is a master of customer service. He is an outstanding problem solver. Jeff is warm, welcoming and attentive to detail. He is also fast and efficient. It is clear Jeff does the work of ten people and accomplishes it with style and grace. It is outstanding people like Jeff that convinces me of the value of Hyatt Globalist status and motivates me to only book my hotel stays world wide with Hyatt. Double highly recommend. read more

Everything we experienced from this hotel was fantastic! While waiting for our Lua Hula show to start. We posted up at a bar to get some adult beverages. We were a few hours early. We had a large group. Our bartender was awesome. Walked around to look at the Decor that this hotel has to offer. Not dissapointed at all. Very fancy. At the end of the night, after the Hula show was said and done. It was easy to get our rides share in the front doors. The workers were very courteous. The Hula show was entertaining. We were at the Westin when we first arrived in Maui and then moved to the Hyatt. I have to say this is a much better hotel. The pools are better. The views. The sunsets from here are insane! The room is a lot larger and more elevated than the Westin. Upon arrival the concierge gives you a box os macadamia chocolate! Yum! The customer service has been impeccable thus so far. The rooms don't have paper thin walls so that's great too cause at the Westin you coils hear everything! Also- the restaurants here! The pool side restaurant is great. Japengo is insanely good for sushi! and the views from there are so beautiful and worth it for a romantic dinner. In short, I highly recommend this resort and all of its amenities! read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hyatt Regency. Upon arrival you're greeted with a welcome lei. They also provided a bottle of champagne as we're celebrating our anniversary. In addition, everybody at the resort were so kind and helpful. Valet offered to hold our luggage while we parked our car. The resort itself is beautiful and everything was well maintained and clean. There's water filling stations everywhere on property. We loved the animals on property from penguins to swans to birds. It's also a close walk to Whalers Village. Pools - open 24 hrs and perfect for a night swim. There's one Hot Tub and two pools on property. One for adults and the other for kids. You also have access to Hyatt Vacation Club Pools, which was a nice perk. There are kiosks around to scan your room bracelet for towels. Beach - Not the best beach area, but it's a short walk to the Westin which has a better beach location for swimming. Fitness Room - Very Spacious and had more than what we expected. There were free-weights, machines, pelatons, treadmills and more. Towels were readily available and there's even wet towelettes. Club Access - This was a huge plus to the property and so glad we had it during our stay. At the club access you're served breakfast, light snacks for lunch, and a light dinner. Hot Breakfast was different every morning and there were plenty of seating. In the afternoon, they served light snacks. For dinner, they would usually have a protein, carb, salad, and dessert. It was simple, but more than enough for dinner. They had fountain drinks, juices, espresso/coffee, and tea. It was so nice not to step out for meals. It saved us so much time! Parking - There's a lot in front of the property and in the back of the property. $35 for self-park or $40 for valet. read more

5 out of 5. I cried on the way to the airport when we had to leave. Maui itself is already breath-takingly beautiful as it is, so this Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa was the cherry on top of the cake. This sprawling estate sits at the top of the hill, the cream of the crop. You pass all the other hotels on the way up (not that there's anything wrong with the other hotels); I've only stayed at this one on this trip. Service was wonderful from the beginning. I actually accidentally pulled into the time share sister hotel on accident, but the valet somehow knew I was supposed to drive a little higher to the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa. Side note: you can use both pools and the facilities which are both amazing and pretty much next to each other. Every valet worker was kind and showed us impeccable ohana every time we needed the car. Please bring cash and tip them well. One younger gentleman even asked what we did that day and was happy to engage in a little convo and give us recs for snorkeling for next time. I wish I got his name, but he has a great, welcoming smile and a heart of gold. June checked us in and was fabulous. She understood the assignment. She knew I was on the Costco Travel budget but did everything she could to upgrade me to a FULL ocean-view room at a reasonable cost. She showed me different available rooms with their views on an iPad, and I am so thankful for her and her outstanding service! Hearing the crashing waves as we were lulled to sleep each night while waking up to the sun glistening on the surface of the blue green ocean will be a mesmerizing memory that we will have forever. We got lei-ed with beautiful necklaces (every guest does). Staff greeted us with a smile. They were happy, willing, and eager to help. The hotel has its own Japanese garden, swans, parrots, koi pond, and penguins! We loved the penguin feeding at 9:30 a.m. (happens daily) because the wonderful lady gives you great information about the sweet creatures. The hotel activities include lei making, hula dancing, and a lot more. You also have direct access to the beach which is so convenient. There's also a walkway where several people took sunrise and sunset walks. The pool is a nice size, and there are eateries on property from fine dining to casual as well as shave ice (but we went to Island Village for excellent shave ice and coffee at Whaler's Village which is about a 15 minute walk). There's also a cute trolly that can take you part way there. If you drive, you can get validated parking for spending $15 at the ABC Store. We ate the buffet breakfast at Swan Court, and again, everyone was super nice. The food was delicious, especially the chicken congee, coconut chia pudding, and bread pudding. There's something for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters. Service was signature ohana spirit, as always. The entire facility was clean. It had everything we needed and more. I'm still floored and can't believe this was our experience at Maui. Oh, and the Drums of the Pacific Luau on property was top tier. The performers are experts; they are beautiful inside and out. I still got nervous during the fire-throwing part, but they did a phenomenal job. If you get there a little early, once you're inside, they even have a moment to give you temporary tattoos, take a professional photo, and do an activity. You can also take photos with a dancer at the end. They have staff help you reserve the luau or any other activity your heart desires. Gayle has been working there for 28 years, and she truly enjoys working there and helping you--service with a smile--truly. She answered all of my questions about the luau, even at the very end of her day, she took her time and didn't make me feel like I was holding her up. Pro tip: Return all of your pool towels one by one and wait for the machine to finish processing. They are all chipped, and you could be charged $25 for each towel if you don't keep track of and return your towels. It's sad they even have to do that because some people steal them. We really enjoyed our stay at this property even though it wasn't perfect. It's a great location and the property is beautiful and sprawling. We got a nice room with an awesome view. They have a pen with about 8 penguins in the lobby that is super cool, as well as some parrots and other birds to check out. While we didn't use it, they have a great convenience store on property, as well as a few shops with jewelry, clothing and art. They were doing a concert on the Friday night in their courtyard that was pretty annoying. The artist was boring as could be and went until 10 pm. Room was fairly soundproff, but not enough to keep the monotonous droning out. Service around the property is a little uneven with some being great and others being just okay. read more

The Hyatt recently hosted the keiki Plein Aire event as part of Paint Maui, an annual plein aire competition on island. Keiki could sign up and take part in a free paint event hosted by the hotel in the Luau area, with snacks and drinks provided, and a free paint set to take home too. It was a wonderful morning of creativity, with keiki painting plein aire and from imagination, turtles, sunsets, palapa, flowers, volcanic eruptions, under the sea scenes, palm trees, so many colours and enthusiasm. Its been a while since I stayed at the Hyatt Regency on Maui. The reasons for the 5 Star rating is from the start, Connor the Manager showed a lot of Aloha when he reached out to me via email. In addition, when we arrived, Hume the valet, Jim at the front desk, and the bellman Owen also showed a lot of Aloha welcoming us to the hotel. We had a ocean view room (upgrade) on the 21st floor, and the view could not have been better. We also received a ton of comp snacks made by Hawaiian Sweets, a Maui based company. Lastly we received waters and local soft drinks. Although the Regency Club was small, the staff Lisalani and Wannette were super nice, and showed a lot of Aloha. Unfortunately, the food was just ok compared to other domestic hotel clubs/lounges I have been to. For example, the sausage was cold for bfast (no lid on serving dish), and the fried shrimp in the afternoon were the frozen variety. Additionally, for some reason alcohol was not hosted. I don't know that I would upgrade to a Club access room in the future here. Its not worth the cost. On the other hand, the gym was massive, and had every machine/apparatus a regular gym person could want. Overall, the entire experience was real positive, and I would stay here again. This place is nice and the beach is just a few steps away. If you enjoy animals you'll want to stay or visit here. They have penguins, coy, parrots and swans. They have valet or self parking. There are three different towers of rooms. I stayed at the Nipili Tower (closest to entering the property). The room was spacious and very inviting. I had an ocean view which was nice to wake up to every morning. Since I am pregnant I have to wake up every night to go to the bathroom and there were lights that turned on just enough underneath the bed so illuminate my path. This is my first time ever seeing this and I absolutely appreciated it. They provide two refillable (you can refill throughout the property) water bottles which came in handy. The property itself has a few restaurants and which are quite expensive. The only thing I had to consume while I was here was the breakfast buffet and that was because it came with my stay. The service during breakfast was wonderful. The buffet itself was okay. A few hot foods with pastries, fresh cut fruit and other continental breakfast items. My favorite here was the ube pancakes! It was so full of flavor. A must here!! During my stay they were doing construction at the pool so I believe there is only one pool and there could be two jacuzzis. The Hyatt Regency Maui is a combination of positive and not so great. On the positive side many staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and clean and felt updated. The penguins and other birds are a cute attraction as well. The hotel is located relatively close to the "Whalers Village" where you can dine and shop. Conversely, If you are a beach sand person you should be aware that there is effectively no beach due to erosion. Also, a portion of the property is under construction and if you are in the main tower you will hear the buzz saw all day. (The Hotel disclosed the construction prior to arrival) and a portion of the pool is boarded off. Parts of the hotel are showing their age as well. As you would expect the food outlets are expensive but the food is very average. The Regency Club offers processed eggs and yogurt with modified food starch and 14g of added sugar. There are some fresh fruits, muffins and other items. However, you would think Hyatt could do better with this Club. read more

Great hotel with lots of pools, animals, and activities. Easy and close beach access right in front. Affordable parking options (self-parking $25 and valet $40). Clean and spacious rooms. About half a mile walk to Whalers Village which has plenty of shopping and restaurants. The highlight of this hotel for us was the stargazing on the roof which is offered on a daily basis (weather permitting) as this is a one-of-a-kind offering from a hotel. The instructor was so informative and we saw more stars and planets at such a close and clear picture it was amazing. The only disappointment is that they recently renovated their pool and removed the grotto and bar. I feel like this was one of the most unique parts of this hotel in terms of their grounds and aesthetic. One thing that we loved was the fact that the pools were heavily heated in the winter and there is no curfew for the pools which made it all the more enjoyable for night swimming and breezy winter days where the sun isn't shining as bright. We stayed 5 nights at the resort. The pool area gets busy, hard to find chairs in the afternoon. I did love the night swims and the lounge access was great opens at 630 am and closes at 8 pm. Our view from our room was spectacular and next door the Hyatt vacation club in the store has a deal where you can buy a reusable cup for 7 day for $80. So worth it if you have kids who love smoothies $15 for a large smoothie. We made use of the cup. We also used the adult pool next door. Make sure to return the towels daily or they will charge your room on the bill. I had to get towel charges removed from our bill. read more

I stayed here for only one night in October 2024. We stayed 3 nights at the AC Marriott Wailea, two nights at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria, and one night (our last night) at the Hyatt Regency. Only cons - the penguins were missing and the area looked a little bit under construction/lacking without them since they were not around. Only other con - we only stayed one night. We needed 3 nights to get the absolute experience of this hotel. My mother didn't have time to see the gardens or enjoy the pool. It was just too short of a stay. It would definitely have been better to stay two-three nights. I used up my Hyatt points and booked one night here. It was definitely a teaser trip, and I sort of regret not booking at least two nights instead of one. Pros: staff were so kind and nice. We got real leis upon arrival that were so special. Most hotels have cut this exotic perk, and this felt extremely nostalgic, wholesome, and loving. Definitely felt the ALOHA with the leis. We even wore them back home on the plane. We got wrist bands (instead of key cards) to wear which were nice since you never had to feel like you were going to loose your key or get locked out of your room. My mother has had two knee replacements surgeries so the staff waived the parking fee for the night. The other two hotels we stayed at did not do this, and I thought that was extremely caring and considerate. We almost self parked which would have been a difficult struggle since parking was a trek behind the golf course. We got club level status so we enjoyed an upgraded higher floor room and lounge access for appetizers and breakfast. The coconut shrimp was so good. We also absolutely loved the desserts and fruit. We saw a rainbow in the morning. The yukata kimono robes were also really nice. We loved the spaciousness of the room. It was recently remodeled and had a lot of nice amenities. We loved seeing the tropical birds in the morning and all the beautiful animals. So wished we would have stayed longer here. read more

We stayed for 6 nights and truly enjoyed our vacation. The hotel seems to be new, room was clean and light. We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were greeted with bottle of champagne and a pair of kukui leas which was so cool! Swimming pools work 24hours, hot tub until 10:30pm. The beach is nice and clean but there are no chase loungers. There are many animals on the territory: African penguins, swans,various parrots, and we even saw a cat. We did not get a chance to find flamingos though. Our package included the Breakfast buffet which was very good! We are Hyatt members and have been to many other hotels, and can state that this type of buffet was one of the best ones. Fresh fruits and salad greenery, different types of eggs, bakes, toast station, good Hawaiian Paradise coffee and different juices (try guava juice!). For our last night we had a dinner at Umalu. Good food but nothing special. One of the evening we really wanted to try Japengo restaurant. Came at 8:32pm and we were not seated as the last seating is at 8:30pm :( That was a bit frustrating. Everything from service to views to activities to location were great. I only have awesome things to say about the Hyatt Regency Hotel here in Maui. Especially if you have the Regency club access. We stayed on the top floor in a very large room overlooking both the ocean and the golf course. The Regency club has snack foods and sometimes main horse foods all day long. The service is exceptional. The views are incredible. The grounds are so well kept it's unbelievable. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Whalers Village so the location is awesome. Valet parking is $40 per night. Self parking $25 per night. And they have different activities you can sign up for. We made some Kukui nut bracelets. And we also did yoga and Pilates. Beautiful location and hotel. The lobby was great because of the penguins. And the grounds are beautiful with the swans and the beach. The pool is okay not impressive. The rooms are nice but bathrooms are small and open. Had the food as part of conference and it was pretty good for mass produced hotel food. Loved the walk way and easy to get to Whalers village. Great stores within the hotel for gifts and the market with snacks included. Everyone was very nice. Opted out of the drummer fire show because you can walk on the board walk and see it for a few minutes without the price tag and the buffet and call it a day. read more

This spa is not associated with the Hyatt as was mentioned 4 times per and post stay. Inconvenience for reservation and paying as it would have been nice to have been one motion. I had a great facial but the amenities associated with a resort were lacking Hyatt standards (which again was told no association). The person behind the front desk had lacked tact and general hospitality... not sure why she held the position to represent the spa. If you do not spa often and are just filling time I would recommend. If you want a true spa experience look elsewhere! read more

We have mixed reviews about our stay at this Hyatt. While we're loyal Hyatt followers, we'll be doing a little more research the next time we stay at a Hyatt that we haven't been to. The good: -The staff here we're all phenomenal. They were all super friendly and willing to go the extra effort to ensure we had a great time. -The property landscaping is stunning. The combination of tropical plants have the entire property a pleasant smell no matter where we went. -The views are breathtaking. Due to shore erosion, you really can't get closer to the ocean. You can constantly hear the pleasant sounds of the ocean. -The room was perfect. It was always clean and the furniture and layout of the room were one of the best we've seen. Its well thought out and the furnishings are all high quality. The bad: -Much of the property appeared to be well worn. The open air lobby was nice, but you could see the wear and tear the elements have taken on the wood paneling and the floors. In addition, the coy pond was drained, the penguins were gone, and there just seemed to be alot of wasted space. The Grand Hyatt in Kauai did a good job of making their lobby a meeting point with music and a bar. This place was just kind of sad. -The pools all need updating. The main pool had faded tile, missing tile, and was kind of boring. They were doing some pool work and built a big plywood wall to conceal the work. It would've been nice of they could've put some kind of design on the wall instead of just leaving it painted grey. It seems like they dropped the ball on trying to make it look nice till the work is done. -The pools were open 24hrs, but at night they were super dark. The kids pool was completely dark. They should put up more lighting and torches. -The onsite restaurants were ok. The steakhouse was mediocre at best and extremely overpriced. ESPECIALLY the wine. This place needs a refresh. Overall, we had a good time. But that was because we could use the pools at the Hyatt timeshare which was next door due to construction. Their pools are extremely nice! Second year in a row staying here at the Hyatt Regency. It wasn't as flawless as last year, but really close. The bell hop person who dropped our bags off, wasn't very friendly. Big bald guy. Check-in was a breeze, and the front desk lady we got was super friendly and courteous. Compliment lei and champagne bottle were included. We weren't too pleased with the first room we were assigned. But, when we called the front desk to ask if we could get moved to another room, Nick was quick to take care of us and really wanted to make sure we were happy. Pool service was great. All of the waiters and waitresses taking our poolside drink and food orders were efficient and friendly. The property as always was clean throughout all of the grounds and common areas. The one thing this hotel needs to improve is finding a way to better manage the pool chairs. There aren't a ton of chairs to begin with for that sized hotel around the pool. But, people wake up at 5-6am to grab towels and reserve pool chairs, only to return hours later and or not at all. Pretty ridiculous, that they allow that. Aside from that, we'd eventually stay here again! read more

We loved our stay here, booked it as a Costco package, which included free daily breakfast buffet and a resort credit. The highlights for us were our accommodations and the cabana rental by the beach. We loved the free refillable water bottles too. Our ocean view room was excellent. And the room seemed very newly remodeled and had a thoughtful design/layout. If you're up for splurging, the cabana rental was a game changer. We rented the Ocean Hale, which is a fully covered cabana facing the ocean. I wanted to stay out of the sun, so that was the best cabana option for me. There were other options that are less expensive. Ours was $350 plus tax/tip and it was ours for 8 hours and included a fruit tray, ice water, and two attendants that checked on us throughout the day and took our drink orders (drinks are separate fee). A miss for us was the daily breakfast buffet. I basically just ate toast and fruit everyday because everything else was pretty bad. I would look for another package next time. Japengo and Son'z Steakhouse were both really good. I would definitely eat there again next time I stay there. Lots of great restaurants nearby too at Whaler's Village. The towels are microchipped, so you really will get charged if you don't return them. Overall the staff was really great, super friendly everywhere we went. Beware the drinks are very, very expensive. Each one is basically $20. read more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Hyatt Regency Maui during our honeymoon May 2023. I was impressed at how beautiful the grounds was, incorporating wildlife all throughout the resort. From eating breakfast right in front of a swan lake, to being greeted by colorful parrots when you step out of your hotel room, this resort had so many reasons for me to smile. We got an oceanfront room and I'd highly recommend this. It was incredibly spacious, and a great size without it being a suite. The room was cleaned and maintained by housekeeping every other day, and we were given leis and a bottle of champagne to celebrate upon check in. The patio in our room had a nice sitting space with incredible sunset views. We didn't have any issues with noise. Breakfast at the swan court was lovely every morning, with a variety of meats, sides, pastries, and more every day. Definitely one of the highlights of my stay. There are a number of pools, both child friendly and adult only spaces. There is a swim up bar under the cave, and while drinks were pricey, it was a great experience. You also have beach access from the resort. Right outside, it is quite rocky so we'd walk further down to a more sandy area to take a dip in the ocean. There is really easy towel service throughout the hotel and an area to rent beach chairs and umbrellas as well. The only thing was that the parking lots were located quite far from the resort entrance area, about a 10 minute walk from our rooms. If you plan to explore the island via car a lot, just keep this in mind. read more

This is such an awesome place to stay. The hotel was beautiful, and there is something for everyone here. The pools here are great whether you have young kids or are just looking to relax, and the same goes for the beach activities too. In particular, the snorkeling here (which you can rent) was probably my favorite part--you literally can see so many giant sea turtles and fish just swimming around near you! The hotel is also at the end of the beach walking path that can take you to Whaler's Village. I would also like to give a shoutout to the Astrophotography workshop (bring your own camera). Although it sounded pricy at first glance, it was so cool to learn the skills to take incredible astrophotography shots with my own camera! Plus, telescopes are setup too for just stargazing. The hotel staff were very kind too and the rooms were clean. Given how busy this resort is, I will say plan extra time if you need to go to the front desk because the wait can be a bit unpredictable. Note the Whaler's Village Shuttle doesn't stop directly at the resort, but it is a short walk away (though the walk can be very hot so keep that in mind). read more

NOTE: This review is for the **spa** at the Hyatt, since that is what this location is named in Yelp. Confusingly, there is not another entry in Yelp for the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa, which is what the overall hotel property should be named. The overall hotel property/amenities are spectacular and get an enthusiastic 5 stars from me. I will happily stay there again and recommend it to anyone. The spa, however... Once we FOUND the spa (hint: walk along the path closest to the shoreline to get there), it just sort of felt "less nice" than the rest of the hotel's property and amenities. It didn't quite match the elevated feel of everything else on site. The pre-treatment waiting room was lackluster -- I would have preferred the post-treatment relaxation lounge (which was VERY lovely) be the room for both instances. Our couple's massage was 4/5 stars, but something about the overall experience gave a "meh" vibe, compared to most other spas of the same luxury-level I've been to -- and this one carries heftier prices. The reception area also felt a bit uninspired. Everything about the spa was "just ok" except the staff (which, like the rest of the personnel at the Hyatt Regency Maui) were kind and acommodating. Again, in case anyone is reading these reviews looking for insight about the REST of the Hyatt Regency Maui (not just the spa), it's a solid 5/5 stars. While docked on the island of Maui (in May 23) we decided to buy a day pass for this place. The day bed was 339 plus you have to spend 200 on food and drinks. The food was hands down delicious so full of flavor I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great and nice folks. I'm ready to stay at the Hyatt next time! The pool was so big it had two sides including area for kids. They also sale floats which we needed Totally recommend this place on food, service and pools. I have not seen the rooms. read more

The Hyatt Regency was a lovely way to start off our Hawaii vacation. This was our first time in Maui and we couldn't have asked for a better hotel. While there were some difficulties with the wristbands we got as our keycard, the Hyatt was an overall amazing place. The employees and staff members were all super friendly and welcoming, and the hotel was beautiful. There are so many different places around the hotel where you can sit and watch the outstanding views. The pools, slides, and whole outdoor scenery was spectacular. All the hotel rooms were very spacious. There are usb ports as well as plenty of space to spread out all around the room. And I can't forget to mention the super cute animals! We saw penguins, fish, and three parrots! All were so adorable. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Highly recommend! read more

We booked this through Expedia. I came here with my wife and two daughters. The hotel is very nice. There's nothing really wrong with it, but I must admit I don't like getting the towels from a locker system. Our room didn't have enough towels so we had to ask for more. The pools are nice. The restaurants are more than adequate. There are two areas with pools, one belongs to the vacation club, but you can use it. We booked it with a free daily breakfast and a $45 a day resort credit. I have one critique and that is that this particular hotel has absolutely minimal almost nothing of a sand frontage/beach. The ocean comes literally to the property. . The hotels further down like the Westin have a decent sand frontage you can lay down but if you want a sand beach in front of your actual hotel this wouldn't work, but if you don't mind walking down to another hotelonly five minutes or so you'll be OK but you can't use their facility in general. There are some lovely cats that wander around super friendly :-) my kids love that but if you don't like cats then stay away from them. It's not like they're in your face. If you look for them, you'll see them. We did a tour and they picked us up from the hotel parking lot. The luau was expensive. Gym is not bad . There is some good Hitech stuff for example they give you a wristband with a proximity sense on it to use that to get into your room and then the elevator and other areas that's helpful no stupid credit card sized room key. The rooms are a good size. The bathrooms are nice. TVs are a good size in the room and the balconies are decent too. One of my daughters is 20 and the other is 12 and they both really liked it. Do not ask for a lava flow drink at the main pool bar because they don't make it very nice. We stayed here for a week and had some excellent experiences. Some that were not so great. I will do my best to share everything. Firstly, the check in process. While it was very smooth when I got there, Kim checked me in and he did a great job. Very friendly and helpful. I was disappointed when I reached out to the resort beforehand and they were not able to help me get an upgraded room as a World of Hyatt Explorist. They said I could only do that upon check in. This is something I have done at literally probably 20 other check ins at other Hyatt locations (never this one before) via phone call or text prior to actually arriving in person. When I did check in, it was fine, and they were able to upgrade us to a double queen beach view room, but there was some unknowns while getting there and that was stressful. But we ended up in the Lahaina tower and on the 6th floor. Steven was our bellman and he was absolutely excellent!! Very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The pool was closed for two days while we were there. This was unexpected. The caves area were closed, and we knew about this, but because the pool was also closed, I think it effected some of our experience. There was a really good kids' pool with two water slides, a sand/water area and these pool animals you can ride on. We didn't even know this area was there until the 5th day we were staying at the resort because of the closed areas. It was unfortunate. Our 3 year old absolutely loved this area and I think we would have spent more time there if we knew about it. We also tried to go down to the pool area to eat our self bought food one time and someone that worked down there named LJ was very rude to us about not opening the umbrellas because apparently it was too windy and they wouldn't allow it. She didn't help us come up with any alternatives as far as where to sit, nor did she express that she was sorry for the inconvenience. It was just like, "you can't open that" and that's the way it is. When my husband said something about things being closed and not usable, including the pool, she even argued with us that the pool is "technically open" even though it had been closed two different days we were there. Just not friendly or accommodating, and I understand that there were rules, but she didn't try to help at all. Didn't even crack a smile or anything that seemed remotely human. Other things about the resort... The parking is free! This was great! There are so many beautiful grounds. With creeks and swans and bridges and little water falls. It was really nice. There's several restaurants on the grounds, Umalu and Japengo were the ones we tried. Japengo is the only one really that's really worth your time. Umalu was pretty bad as far as food goes. The rooms are cool and nice. The carpets were pretty dirty, to the point of I felt like I had to wear my shoes or constantly wash my feet because they'd get dirty from walking around. However, there were so many other great things about the room. The view, the space was nice and big. The Chromecast feature through the Hyatt app is unmatched. I seriously use this alllll the time and it makes traveling so much more seamless! They also have good room service, where they brought us extra pillows, no problem. They brought us extra things that we unexpectedly needed (lotion, tissues, tampons, etc). It is so nice to not have to worry about those things in the middle of the night. They also have a feature here where wear the room key on your wrist as a bracelet! It was so nice not have to bring my wallet/purse around all the time. I had my room key on my wrist which was especially great since we were in the water so often. Another feature which was cool were the towels. There are towel dispensers all over the resort and you can get unlimited towels when you scan your key. They were always filled! And then you return them in a hamper type thing next to the dispenser. The only issue is they apparently "track" your towels, how many you take and if you return all of them in the same place. If you don't return all of them they charge you at the end of the stay without saying anything. $150! We returned all of our towels and somehow still got charged. They refunded the charge once I asked about it, but still, was kinda annoying that they charged it even though we made a huge effort to return the towels. Finally, when we checked out, we mentioned some of these issues and things to the Manager, Brian, and he was willing to help us with some compensation, so we appreciated this greatly. It was overall a really nice stay and we enjoyed our time, but there were just some things and some people we wished had turned out or treated us differently. We would probably consider coming back and I would be really excited to see what the new restaurant/cave area looks like. read more

Our second time staying here. First time was 8 years ago, pre pandemic, and it was pretty amazing. This time not quite as amazing. Asked for and got an ADA room, which is good. However- why put an ada room at the farthest point from the elevator with the longest walk?? Second negative is the pools. The main pool is NOT in compliance with ADA. There is nowhere to get into the pool that has stairs and a handrail for mobility limited guests. There's a vertical ladder- not really an option, or a shelf to step down onto but with no handrail. The kiddie pool has a step with a handrail- but it's the kiddie pool. One can also use the Hyatt Residence club pool- which is a Loooonnnggg walk from our room. When we got there we found that 3/4+ of the seats say residence club only- and the others were taken with towels and things even if no one was sitting there. So- for my 10 day resort stay I am unable to use any pool due to their ada issues (walking distance being a big issue for me and my bad arthritis). Our room comes with breakfast buffet, which has been underwhelming at best. 8 years ago it was twice as big a selection and the food was tasty. Now, much is the food is quite bland as if it had been prepared without even salt and pepper. The pineapple is amazing- been eating a lot of that as my breakfast. The egg and potatoes dishes- skip. Not a lot of vegetarian options. The eggs Benedict that was put out our first day was truly awful. Hard cooked steam table eggs, Canadian bacon with no flavor. Not good at all. I hate wasting food but even taking very small portions of things, I find I push aside most after 1 bite. Staff has been polite and kind, room is clean and pretty comfortable, but darn it- I want to swim in a pool and eat a tasty breakfast!! read more

Let's see where do I start? How about the false advertising of swim up bars and prestigious caves to swim through that have since been replaced by a wall with a sushi bar on top that doesn't open until 5pm and no guest are allowed. Next up let's start with the non existent pool bar staff and 100% lack of any type of music and money grab cabanas for 275-350 bucks a day. Next up we got the room service or lack there of, daily calls to housekeeping have to be made to get your room cleaned. Next up we got the complete lack of ANY complementary anything like maybe a couple thermos of cheap coffee in the lobby would be nice. Next up we got the food prices that are highway robbery get ready to pay through your teeth for a slice of pizza or 20 bucks a drink is normal for a watered down pina colada. Avoid this spot even the Employees that work here are miserable. read more

This is for the entire resort: To start, the TV in our room was bad. I called and asked for it to be fixed while were were out all day. When we returned nothing had been fixed or done that we could see. Some staff member just walked into our room while we had the room occupied card on the doorknob and didn't even knock - not cool! The carpet is dirty and stained at entrance to the elevators - dirt and rubbish on the floors to our room and black trash bags in the halls were never cleaned up or removed - they were always present. Construction noise, workers and equipment everywhere. If we knew this place was under construction, we wouldn't have booked our stay here. Part of the draw here was the Penguins exhibit - only to find it was closed due to all the construction. The Swan Court hostesses were arguing with me about "confirming" our table (two different days) after using their App to pre-reserve a table and "avoid the lines." The first time she said i didn't "confirm", i showed her my text showing i did, and then she said no you didn't, she then proceeded to fiddle with my phone scrolling my text back and forth to try and prove I was wrong - "never" asked my permission to touch my phone. Two days later, she lied to me about when I checked in to avoid the line - told me I just checked in 5 minutes ago, when it was exactly 11 minutes prior, and their App notice said to be down in 10 minutes. They advertised a 10:30am Ukulele class and was told it was outside by the picnic tables. Upon arrival we were told there was one at 9:30 am but none at 10:30. Only later did we find out that there was a 10:30am class and the Recreation Desk told us that the women we spoke to didn't know what she was talking about, and there was one in the lobby at 10:30, but now it was 11:30 and we missed it. One night they had to turn the water off due to pool repairs. Never going back to this dump! read more
