I ve been able to use the restaurant or my kitchen for all meals. We can walk and use two great beaches daily. I haven't moved the car. Today we may go Shop. Decide later. ..... The fitness studio has free weights , a universal machine, a peloton and walking and a striding machine. I ve been able to go daily and the average is 1-3 people. Right now , i am on the Lanai, and i see two distance swimmers crossing the bay in front of us, side by side. Same Stroke. You can only get this lifestyle right here. Aloha! We stayed at Napili Kai Beach Resort 1/22 - 1/26. The resort was beautiful filled with lush vegetation and an amazing ocean view. We were assigned Room #67, which I would not recommend because it is located in the main lobby area. So when you walk out of your room you are faced with everyone in the lobby, the front desk, etc. The room however, did provide optimal ocean viewing. I was able to see whales from our balcony! The room itself was very spacious and comfortable. It came equipped with a full on kitchen including a stove, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishes, utensils, glassware, cleaning supplies, the works! I can see how this would come in handy for long term guests, as eating out in Hawaii can be quite expensive! We ate at the restaurant on property which was pretty good, not five star, but good. Try the pink snapper plate with the scallops and shrimp and thank me later! They have a happy hour from 2-5pm daily where they serve appetizers, beers and drinks half price. The ahi poke nachos were delish! The beach itself was nice, but be warned there are no chairs or loungers set up. They said you can move chairs from the pool area down to the beach, and umbrellas were available for rent. This was a change from the resorts that we are used to that provide those amenities, but we made do and just sat on our beach towels which was just fine. The hubby went snorkeling and said it was nice. He saw a sea snake! The beach is not private, no beaches in Hawaii are, so it got pretty packed during those golden times of day. Still beautiful nevertheless. Thank you to Jackie who cleaned our room twice during our stay. Everything was clean and immaculate. Huge shout out to Amy at the front desk. She was very nice, and welcoming. She helped with some activity and shopping suggestions and provided a map to help us out with things to do and places to go. She always had a smile on her face and you could tell all the guests loved her! Give Amy a raise! My reason for giving four stars instead of five is this. We asked for a late checkout when we arrived. They told us we could just call the morning of our departure date. I spoke with a gal at the front desk the evening prior who checked their system and assured me the room had not been booked and an early checkout would be in order. However, when I called at 720am the same lady then told me the room was booked and we needed to be out by 11am. This was extremely disappointing since our flight back to Vegas was not until 930pm, as I explained to her the night before. It worked out alright and we explored the island to kill time, but was extremely disappointing. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience. I am not sure if we will return to Maui, because we have to see the rest of the world, but if you go I would definitely recommend Napili Kai! -Mahalo read more

NKBR is an old style Hawaiian resort that blends into the landscape, full of Aloha, relaxing and laid back. Things run on island time with island vibes. Much different to the loud, large and crazy Kaanapali down the road. Pass the jigsaw for guests in the lobby and you will be met with an amazing view of Napili Bay, and a warm welcome from the staff (some have been there for 30 years!). There is an employee's keiki dance show on the grounds which it is very well choreographed, full of music, singing and Ohana which raises funds to provide college funds for staff's older children. Not to be missed it is great fun and you will be dancing along in your seat and maybe even invited up on stage! There are plenty of facilities, with a boutique selling gifts and necessities, and a small food kiosk by the nice pool, putt putt golf, pickle ball across the road, the Kapalua Walkway to hike, and you have the choice of 2 amazingly beautiful west Maui beaches on your doorstep, Napili Bay and Kapalua Bay. Both offer fish and turtle filled snorkeling by day and gorgeous sunsets at night, with soft sand to lie on for a nap listening to the waves. They are also perfect backdrops to family photos using local photographers, or even for celebrating anniversaries or weddings beside the waves with a local Hawaiian celebrant. The main award winning restaurant, Sea House, offers a hearty breakfast (Lobster bennie with potatoes and a chipotle hollandaise is my fave), lunch on the patio (definitely order the fish n chips), an early bird dinner with a choice of courses, and a great bar for a totally instagrammable sunset that will be the envy of your friends! (My recommendation for cocktail is the Aloha Bite, but I get it made with pineapple instead of strawberry). If you want a change for breakfast or lunch there are 2 easily walkable local breakfast/lunch cafes - Island Vibes and Pagoda - with some great coffee at Island Vibes plus SUP board rental, and also a Snorkel Bob where you can rent snorkel gear, etc. Napili Kai is one of the best resorts on Maui, try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is a really nice low key resort. It is kid friendly. The rooms were nice and clean and comfortable and they all have lanais (covered patio/balconies) for lounging and I think most or all rooms have kitchenettes. They have almost nightly activities that are free for guests, like a hula show on Tuesdays, slack key guitar show Wednesdays, etc. You can hang out at the pool or beach, both are very close to all the rooms. There is a snack bar at the pool including alcoholic drinks, you can charge items to your room so you don't have to carry your wallet. Free parking, no resort fee. The restaurant has amazing views and the bar at the restaurant has a good ocean view too. read more

They have a restaurant on the beach, beach access, as well as multiple amenities throughout the resort like mini golf, a pool, jacuzzi and BBQs. Great classic Hawaii feeling. Something magical. Very lush grounds throughout. Friendly staff, greets you as family. Housekeeping offered daily too. Full kitchens in suites, and very large lanais in all rooms. Just has the most relaxed atmosphere, unmatched by other places. Large enough for your vacation enjoyment, but not so massive like the 'mega resorts'. Seahouse restaurant onsite is one of the top rates places on the island. The beach is the best in the area for snorkeling, smooth sand, very little coral shoreside, and waves are normally small. Laundry room is available, but who wants to do laundry on vacation? Super quiet area as well, parking can be tough, but there is a spot for you on property ( and it's free). read more

I was so excited about my upcoming third stay at Napili Kai in May, after having a wonderful vacation here last year. Then, I got laid off. I immediately called the hotel--six weeks before my trip--and they refunded my deposit. However, they refused to refund the $350 I paid to reserve a specific room. I was aware that this was the policy, but in this very stressful situation, I really need the $350 back. They refused. Not only was this a very sad statement about their customer service, but it was also extremely hypocritical. First of all, my room will be rented out within a few days. Second of all, the media is constantly saying that Maui is hurting financially since the fire, and people like me are coming there two years in a row to spend their money in Maui to help. But, then when a guest gets laid off and desperately needs their money back, Napili Kai says, "Too bad!" Napili Kai should be ashamed of itself. If they want people to travel to Maui to contribute to the post-fire economy, they should consider that stressful and tragic situations can happen to visitors as well. If you want to experience Hawaii through a luxury high rise hotel, crazy pools and water slides; hordes of people; fighting for chaise lounges; high end shopping, and all that, then don't come to the Napili Kai. Those of us who come back to the Napili Kai time after time seek a different Hawaii. It is ocean and beach-centered, along a peaceful, beautiful little bay filled with reef, coral, a wide variety of colorful and different-shaped fish, and sea turtles. Kids play at the beach all day, sloshing with the ebbs and flows of the gentle waves. An18 hole putting course provides family fun, and Kapalua is next door for world class golfing. The hotel is low-rise, ocean front and peaceful. There are pools, but they are not huge, and are placed to seem like a private pool for each building. There are barbeques outside and nice, clean, newish kitchens in the units. The units have breathtaking views just steps from the bay. The hotel's Sea House restaurant is literally as far onto the beach as could be without getting splashed, providing its own incredibly awesome views at the beach and bay, along with good food. The staff on our recent visit were uniformly warm, welcoming, competent and professional. I make this recommendation with some regret, because I don't want the place to get too popular, but they deserve to be recognized for their accomplishment of providing as close to "old Hawaii" as we can get today. read more

Our family had an amazing time at this resort and we will definitely be back, many many times in the future. It's authentic, beautiful, and perfect. The front desk staff were very warm and inviting. The manager Mel was super sweet and welcoming. She helps us out tremendously with great things to do at the resort and around the island. The Beach House Restaurant was delicious, service amazing. The rooms were perfect and had an amazing view. My wife, daughters, and I felt like we were home and super comfortable. We never wanted to leave. This was definitely the way to experience Hawaii. This is a beautiful location. The Napili Bay has a soft sand beach where you can relax all day until the last bit of fiery sunset escapes. Our room was very nice with a king bed, kitchen, lanai, and gorgeous view of the ocean. The grounds are lush with tropical plants and flowers, and the staff everywhere in the resort were very friendly. The Sea House Restaurant is located on site beachside and also has a full bar. There is an 18-hole putting course, two swimming pools, and plenty to keep you satisfied. Excellent golf nearby and many quality restaurants. I will go here again. read more

This resort is absolutely beautiful! They are ran by amazing staff who are very kind, accommodating, and just a lovely bunch. We were at this resort for 8 days and 7 nights on a vacation package we purchased through a Costco membership. It came with a few different things so when we checked in, we had to slowly go through our welcome packet a second time in our studio. We then found out they had overlooked our free breakfast and welcome mai tai vouchers, went back and explained it to the staff we checked-in with and he sorted it out with his manager while being very apologetic about the mix up. It wasn't a big deal! Upon our arrival and check-in, we were greeted with some refreshing island juice drinks. The gentleman went through the resort welcome package and explained their parking, towel, restaurant, beach/pool, and other guest policies. When we got to our studio, we found a bottle of brut with a lovely bow and message tied to it for our anniversary. Such a wonderful gesture! Our beach-front studio was perfect with a well-furnished lanai, adorned with a few palm trees and beautiful tropical vegetation, overlooking the crescent Napili beach area and only a few steps away from the Sea House restaurant! How much more perfect could it have gotten?! The resort property features some activities for their guests to participate in but since we were out almost every day and for most of the day, we weren't able to attend any of them. Some examples are a putting social, mai tai social, slack key and a keiki (child) hula which all sounded really fun! There is a daily maid service if you so desire, a small kitchenette with all the basic kitchen tools should you feel like cooking your own meals but otherwise, there is a restaurant on-site (Sea House, see my separate review for specific details). Napili Kai resort also features a private beach, three different pools, a jacuzzi, and private beach front walking pathways throughout the property for those beautiful morning sunrise or evening sunset strolls! The entire place is very well maintained, the gardens abundantly filled with flowering tropical plants, trees and palm trees all over the property, and they have a boutique as well as a massage spa on-site (see my separate Makai spa review). Our stay was such a relaxing and pleasant one complete with the most beautiful sunrise, sunsets and rainbow views. I recommend checking this resort out if you're wanting to stay in the Lahaina area while in Maui! It might be a little farther away from the airport but you will get more of the relaxing, island feels staying here. I've been going here for many years due to my parents going here. This place is everything you'll want and more. The options for activities is endless. Staff is always friendly and ready to help. Must do activities that are included in your stay: Golf putting party Monday around 4:30pm: $0.50 drinks during the party that are charged to your room. You DONT have to know how to putt. You are paired with a random other guest which is a great way to get to know people. Mai tai party: FREE mai tais for an hour. You just show up and mingle with the other guests (or just stand in the corner and have some free drinks) read more

Looks like I wrote my first review for this place about 10 years ago, on my first trip to Maui. I have been back to Maui 1-2 times a year since then. I have stayed in many hotels, but we ALWAYS end our trip at Napili Kai. Every time we get there I feel back at home. This is still my absolute favorite place out of everywhere I have stayed on the island. If it was in my budget, I would stay here my entire trip every time I visit! I love Napili Kai and their staff so much! There is something so calming about Napili Kai, more so then anywhere else I have stayed. I still love the beach, the food, the pools, the vibe. Even the people who stay here are more fun to hang out with. I have made quite a few friends over the years staying here. I cannot wait for my next trip! read more

This place is great. Not only is it on a wonderful, sandy stretch of Maui coast, but it also has some great reefs just offshore. We were there in April and it was not crowded at all. Temp was 71/81 with a short rain each day. It's near to Kapalua Bay golf and others and the NW coast is filled with great beaches. Coffee was provided in the lobby each morning from 5 to 8am. Our room had 2 twin beds and 2 comfortable pop out chair beds. We also gad a full kitchen with dishes. There are 4 different pools and 2 whirlpools. There is a towel checkout as well as golf putters and shuffle board. The staff was friendly and helpful including Mark at the front desk and Laureen at the snack shack. It was very relaxing, plenty to do and included a hula show. Would love to go back.We went in a Costco deal and it worked out to about $230 per day per person, air fare, resort and rental car. Babymoon #2 in Maui! I was excited to find Napili Kai on Yelp! Long story short, a few years ago, I met a girl on the plane that was from same town as me. My family and I kept bumping into her & we decided to hang out with her one day to go snorkeling and SUP. We mentioned to her that we wanted to swim with turtles but had no luck and she told us about Napili beach. When we discovered the beach, it was like we found a hidden gem, and we fell in love. We ate at the "Sea House" restaurant for lunch and I walked on Napili Kai to order my daughter shaved ice. Back then, you could pay cash for food, but now it's only room service only and billed to your room. I thought the property was so cool, and thought to myself, "How cool would it be if we could stay here next time on our vacation". Fast forward to now, our Baby Moon #2, I looked on Yelp and found Napili Kai Beach Resort and loved the reviews from all the guests. I booked the vacation within 2 days! I knew this would be the perfect, relaxing family baby moon for our family as all we wanted to do was sleep and relax. We stayed in Room #111, had a nice view of the ocean. Our room was nice with upgraded bathroom, and kitchen. The family suite is called "Keaka 1". Outside our lanai, you can see the putting green area, walking distance to pool and beach. Main pool 6-6:30 p.m. Loraine at the pool was super friendly, like an auntie to us. She made us gluten free hot dogs, shared her fun stories, and was very friendly and helpful. Our service engineer guy who came to fix our safe and television was "Kalani" and he was super nice too. Our safe kept shutting down on us. First night, the battery went out. Next day, the bars on the safe wouldn't eject correctly and had another delay. 3rd day the safe had a weird code and we couldn't get out in time. I complained, and they gave us a credit for the inconvenience, but it was super annoying after it kept happening a few times. We ate at the Sea House restaurant twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. Kids eat free but I don't suggest going there for dinner, kinda fancy and they try to sell you on the wine and expensive seafood. We had a not so great experience the first night we were there. Our waiter wasn't that nice, and he put parmesan cheese on my burger and fries and I didn't ask for it. (made me feel sick as I'm pregnant) Also, he added mushrooms and all kinds of other stuff on my craft burger and it was just too much. Make sure you are specific! I kept telling him I couldn't have seafood or alcohol cause I was pregnant, and he kept asking or suggesting those items. I felt like the service had gone down hill since the last time we went there. Try "Okazuya and Deli Honokowai" and try their chicken dish, freaking delicious!! Try "The Gazebo"down the street for some yummy pancakes. Our vacation went by super fast and I always say that 7 days isn't enough days, but 10 would have been perfect. We did the Road to Hana and used the "Shaka" app, I def. rec. it. It was like having a personal tour guide in your car the whole entire time, well worth the $10! Road to Hana was about 13 1/2 hours with app from the resort and we started at 7:30 am., I suggest you leave by 5:30 a.m to enjoy more sunlight. Sugg:buy your snorkel gear at Walmart Costco ($30-40) We bought our daughter's snorkel gear at Costco and she loved it, she used it every day. We noticed some of the guests forgot theirs, and they had to buy at local shop. Buy a beach umbrella at Costco and return it (save all receipts) Napili will rent out the same umbrellas at the resort for $15 a day. You will definitely need an umbrella. We also bought sand toys at Walmart and brought some pool float toys to the pool. Buy all your groceries at Walmart/Costco when you land, trust me! It is a lot more affordable than near by. ice cream, doughnuts, milk, sun tan oil, etc. Plus, Costco/Walmart are about one hour from resort. Bring a packable cooler in your luggage, so when you land you can fill up w/ ice and get your milk, dairy items for on the way to the resort. I would say def. breakfast items, like muffins, milk, yogurt, fruit, pineapples, trust me they are $6 near the resort, alcohol at Costco. I would not bring towels from home, they rent out the towels with towel cards.Overall, with problems w/safe, cable, and air, everything ended up getting fixed. We saw turtles a few times during the week, with nice sunny weather. When it's over cast, the water isn't as clear. We saw 2 beautiful rainbows after it rained. I recommend the wings, hot dogs, rainbow shaved Ice and corn dogs@ pool! No daily resort fee or parking fee like all the other high end resorts which was super nice. The property is just so gorgeous and clean. My daughter enjoyed movie/pizza night with the Keiki Club. Free babysitting for a couple hours! Only downfall: no bathtub! So glad we booked this resort. We booked ocean view studio and it was perfect! Check in was easy and they offered us cold refreshing juice. No resort fees, no parking fees--just an almost private sandy beach where you can get towels and chairs checked out to you, just give them your room card! Pools or beach- that was the decision we had to make everyday!! The in-site restaurant is very good, we had dinner snd drinks but heard their breakfasts are great too! And they have a spa where you can book a facial and/or massage--just call to make appt ahead of time, very nice people all around. I hardly rave about hotels and usually say we need to try another place or area "next time we come" BUT, when I come back to Maui, I am booking Napili Kai resort again. It's so nice (maybe COVID scared slot of people away) and even though we were only here for 4 nights, we were refreshed to go back home to our jobs (but wished we could stay forever.). I had always wanted to stay here, it is a wonderful location on a calm bay. We booked an ocean front suite for my wife's birthday and now that I am actually stayed here, I regret the choice: 1. Bed was sandy when we checked in, sheets hadn't been changed 2. We booked a king but were given a room with two twin beds pushed together 3. Beds is old, sunken in and not comfortable - their solution was to put some plywood in between the mattress and box spring. 4. Sheets are old, stained and not soft 5. Workout closet with poor machines and very little resistance equipment or weights. 5. Towels are more like a loofa 6. Roaches.... They moved us due to the roaches and then the next day we decided to switch resorts. Customer service was apologetic & did refund us quite a bit but it was a bit disappointing. Still very beautiful but facilities are not up to par. if you are looking for a true resort experience, stay elsewhere. read more

After the passing of my husband, I was invited by a very dear lifelong friend to share her accommodations at Napili Kai during a week-long stay in early April. Reservations had been made in October 2022, and this was my first vacation without him. But it was just what I needed. Also on the trip were her daughter and SIL and their very gregarious toddler, all of whom had been here the year before and had arranged our accommodations. Our room in Lani 2 on second floor had a perfect ocean view from our large balcony, spacious living and sleeping layout, full kitchen and tons of storage space in the dressing room adjoining our bathroom. The staff was very friendly and helpful, proximity to the beach was a short walk within the property where oversized towels and low-slung beach chairs were provided. One downside was that the beach is not private, and so many other vacationers make this their beach destination. On-site restaurant was very good for breakfast, lunch or dinner, which we partook of a few times, and the Breezeway Boutique has an excellent selection of women's wear and tchotchkes far more reasonably priced than the shops in Lāhainā. Very much enjoyed my stay here, first time in Hawaii. Highly recommended. read more

If you want to be away from the mega high rise resorts with thousands of people, ten restaurants, shopping malls then check out this resort. No resort fee, no charge for parking, Has a great restaurant on property (The Sea House), a small venue where you can enjoy Slack Guitar show weekly. Resort is only two stories, has a fantastic beach. Kapalua beach next door with great snorkeling using the gear from the resort at no charge. Lots of beach chairs too. We always reserve room 36. Check it out. We sit on the Lani and watch the whales. In one day saw more the 25, one did 32 tail slaps. Walk down the beach for breakfast at the Gazebo. Have the fried rice and egg side (get the half order) in addition to your order. Maybe have a Macadamia nut pancake too. Both restaurants have ocean views. read more

Full disclosure, we did not stay at the hotel, so I can't speak to the rooms. However, the general property, beach, onsite restaurant, and the weekly kids' traditional Hawaiian music and dancing is amazing! The show was great for kids/families, just the right amount of time, and it was a great look into the local culture without all the frills of a luau. My family has been coming here for literally sixty years. Isn't that cool? Seriously, we've been coming here since it opened. It's a great little spot tucked away on a gorgeous cove in Napili. The staff is accommodating, the rooms have air conditioning, the beds have always been comfortable. The kitchenette is a wonderful addition if you are staying a longer time. It's a huge complex, but it does not feel like it. The staff is always helpful and generally knowledgeable. I look forward to visiting again. read more

Napili Kai Resort is the best on Maui. We have stayed at several places on Maui, and NKR was by far our favorite. It's not one of those big Kaanapali or Waiawa type places. It's on Napili bay and has been there for many years. There's even a book written about it! They are bigger than some of the smaller places but not huge. It is right sized. It was nice to be on Napili and Kapalua bays. Great snorkeling in Kapalua bay which is an easy walk from NKR. It's nice to have several options to swim, hangout and snorkel. Great walking paths. We had one of the Ocean Front rooms in the Puna 11 building. Whoa... the view and closeness to the water. The privacy was good. The thing that was most impressive and most appreciated, was the staff. The staff was amazingly friendly, helpful and authentic. Our cleaning crew got to know us and continually asked if we needed anything and meant it. They wanted to make sure our vacation was great and they succeeded. We had the best time here and this will be our new Maui destination. read more
