View from our dining room. Gorgeous!

We recently stayed at the Kaanapali Ali'i for a week and I just had to come on here to sing their praises! Not only was our condo comfortable, convenient and gorgeous with stunning views, but the staff was helpful, friendly and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Next time we venture from our typical hotel vacation and opt for a condo, Ali'i will most definitely be our 1st choice!

It's a fantastic place to stay. You're next to the water and hear the waves coming in, you're in an apartment setting with housekeeping every 3rd day

My family and I stayed here for almost a week recently, and we had a great time. It is within walking distance to the beach, Whaler's Village, and the golf course. 5 of us stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a pull out bed and we were comfortable. They also provide coffee downstairs for guests, towels to check out, fitness classes, and a daily lottery for shaded cabanas. The pool is nice with a "quiet area", although not enforced from our experience. Staff we met were friendly, especially the woman who works in the pool area and hosts one of the fitness classes!

This luxury condo resort was an amazing place to stay in Hawaii. The rooms are large and decorated beautiful. There is easy access from the rooms to both the pool and beach in just a few steps. The views are breathtaking and the staff has been very kind. Only thing to note staying here is there no restaurant and bar. We will be coming back!

This is a full ocean view that was sold to me...

Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I paid for a full ocean view room and was given a room with a worse view than family members who paid for partial ocean view. When I brought this to the staff's attention, they offered to either move me or refund the upgrade. I chose the refund. At checkout, no one had any record of the refund agreement. I had to explain everything again, only to be told it was a "he said, she said" situation--implying I was lying. Completely unacceptable. When I followed up again by phone, I was told they should never have booked me a 1-bedroom full ocean view because that room type doesn't even exist--they only offer full ocean views in 2-bedroom units. So not only did they take my money under false pretenses, they also refused to refund it after acknowledging their mistake. Disorganized, misleading, and unprofessional from start to finish. I'm shocked at how poorly this was handled, and even more upset by the insinuation that I wasn't being truthful. I will not be returning.

We are so happy that we found Kaanapali Alii for our first time visiting Maui! It was an easy drive from the airport and a great location for visiting different places around Maui. The condo we stayed in was decorated beautifully and had everything we needed for our stay. It was so nice to have a fully functioning kitchen for breakfast and lunches. The condo was big and we never felt like we were on top of each other as a family of five. Beach towels are provided by the resort with a system to make sure you return them. Beach chairs are also provided and set up for you and umbrellas are available to rent for $60/day. The pool never felt crowded and the beach is a short walk out of the resort and was also never crowded. We saw complaints about no restaurants at the resort but that was the least of our worries as you are a short walk from Whaler's Village. We will definitely be returning and staying at Kaanapali Alii next time we visit Maui!

We barely got a place to stay when we were coming to Hawaii due to the fact we waited to the last minute. This location was selected. I would say it's dated but doable. It's a older place. Upon entering, it didn't smell too good so we brought lysol and febreze and sprayed all fabrics down. That fixed the closed in smell. The laundry room had a mildew smell that we couldnt figure out. The living area space was big, tt had 2 sides each with its own bedroom and bathroom. Theu have a living room, dining room and a little den area for someone to close off and sleep. The patio was spacious (no pic) and we enjoyed sitting out there watching the pool and beach area. The best view to watch the sunrise and set. Make sure to get ocean view, it's worth it. Be sure to check the back of the wifi router in your unit to make sure it matches the wifi login that the front desk provides. The pool area is nice. They have a area off the pool where you can grill and watch 2 big screen tvs with couches and chairs. You can go down around 7:45am and have a beach Cabana held for the day. The concierge lady was nice. I recommend booking your tours in advance. The cleaning lady was good and accommodating. There aren't any on-site restaurants however to the left of the pool there's the marriot for dining and to the right is the westin and whalers village. Overall our stay was good. We'd come back. Hope you enjoy

There is no beach. The pictures are a false representation. The beach has eroded and there is literally no beach. The sidewalk is washed away. About 5-10 palm trees have fallen into the ocean. You have to walk 25 minutes to black rock to find a beach you can use. They did not tell us this before we paid our 40,000 non-refundable payment. When we checked in they said; "by the way we don't have a beach anymore!!! We've tried to reach the general manager, mark Altier, to at least talk to him about it, but the front desk said they can't give us his information. After multiple search attempts we were able to find his email and sent him a message 5 days ago and haven't received a response. The maintenance of the units has declined. We had a broken refrigerator and broken toilet when we checked in the had to wait for maintenance to come back 4-5 times to fix these things. We used to be able to play tennis at night but they took down the lights so now you have to play during the day when it's much hotter. We are beach people and would use the Alii's cabanas on the beach 6 hours every day. Now we have to drag 3 umbrellas, chairs, blankets, towels, cooler, kids etc on a car ride to set up at a beach somewhere else. We could have stayed somewhere else had they told us the the situation here. There was a big storm here in July this year and wiped out the whole beach. They had us pay the rest of our funds in august so they already knew the situation and never contacted us. Just took our 40,000 dollars. We've been coming here since 2007 and we will never stay here again.

Great location. Wonderful staff..beautiful grounds. Our 2nd time staying at the Alii.. Asked for Ocean view or full Ocean view. We received a partial Ocean view but they changed our room on arrival to an ocean view. 1 bedrooms sometimes have a den converted to a bedroom. Same with the 2 bedrooms. Each are privately owned so checkout vrbo or call direct. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Community is very well kept... Wendy the concierge is very helpful... Close to Whalers Village, many restaurants and a great walking path along the beach...

There's the popular outdoor mall, Whaler's Village about a 5 minute walk away with restaurants and shops, just follow the beach path. LUGGAGE STORAGE (1/5): We arrived a bit early and the staff held onto our luggage while we went out to get food. I didn't see where it was taken. I did not realize that they would store our luggage outside in the humidity!!! I thought they would store it inside the hotel in a closet in the back. I had temperature-sensitive medication in my luggage and when we came back to check-in, I was shocked to find our luggage stored outside. Had I known that, I would have asked them to store my meds in the fridge for me. Thankfully, my meds were okay in the end, but it did give me panic. PARKING (5/5): Since we booked through Costco, the parking was included with our stay. We had in/out privileges and no valet required. STAFF (5/5): I forgot her name, but she welcomed us very friendly and checked us in. Michelle I think was her name. We asked about local places to eat and she kindly wrote us a list. The housekeeping staff was also very nice and always greeted us in the halls. SHUTTLE/TROLLEY (5/5): There's a free green trolley that will take you to Whaler's Village and came around every 30min or so (check the schedule) and will also drop you off at nearby hotels along the beach, not just the Outrigger. Also, the hotel has it's own private shuttle that will follow the same route within the resort grounds if you don't want to wait for the trolley. Again, they don't exit the resort. One night we went to a nearby hotel (The Bungalos) for a music event but had just missed the trolley and the guys out front said they could drive us in the hotel van. And then gave us a number to call them when we were ready to go back to the hotel, so we called them but wanted to go to dinner at Whaler's Village after and they took us. So so convenient. really nice guy! It's complimentary but we tipped our driver and he was always so kind! We read in the handouts that they did a special going-away ceremony at the end of your stay but unfortunately we had to miss it to catch our early flight, so Michelle was kind enough to give us the necklace and do a mini version for us there at the check-out counter. POOL (1/5): We didn't even try the pool. It's quite small in size, and it was so hot, and no shade anywhere, so we didn't bother. They did provide towels though that you could swap out and stuff, so we used those and just went to the beach. RENTALS: There's a hut on-site where you get the towels, but also offers rental stuff for the water, beach chairs, etc. Note: the beach chairs + umbrella rentals are quite steep, I think was like 2 chairs + 1 umbrella almost $85 and had to return by 5pm. We ended up going to Costco and instead and bought 2 tommy bahama chairs and umbrella and used them the whole week while we were there, and even used our chairs at other places too. We saved some money that way and used that money instead to tip the staff and buy food in Maui b/c it ain't cheap! ACTIVITY SCHEDULE: We were given a print-out at check-in with activities throughout the week, however we showed up to one of them and there was nothing going on but there was a gentleman there. We were told that the print-out was outdated so we had missed the activity since it was earlier in the week. So don't go off the print-out. He had a different schedule available at his table. So..there's that. Overall, I would not mind staying here again but would be interested in staying at the other hotels along the Kanapali beach.

When we arrived, our villa contained power tools, dirty dishes, and had clearly not been properly prepared for guests. What was even more frustrating was that it took three separate face-to-face visits with both the front desk and management before the room was finally cleaned. Communication throughout the process was poor, and we never felt that anyone took real ownership of the issue. The only compensation offered was a $50 resort credit, which did not reflect the inconvenience or the time we spent trying to resolve a problem that should never have existed. Beyond our room, both the villas and many of the common areas felt worn, dingy, and lacking the level of care we have come to expect from the Westin brand. The most disappointing aspect of our stay wasn't simply the condition of the property--it was the apparent lack of urgency and concern from management. Also love keypad entry so you don't have to remember your keys all the time esp when at beach or pool. Love the outdoor grills and beer fridges on the villa balconies. Areas of feedback for the property: We found many of the units to have been in mediocre condition and poorly maintained. Two units have broken a/c's and a third was just barely strong enough. Also had WiFi issues, broken bbq lids, non operational patio fans, broken dishwashers. In the common areas, the gym has a decent set of weight equipment, but is comically small, almost infuriatingly and dangerously so. Every morning and every evening before dinner it was just so packed, you could barely do your sets without bumping into somebody at the machine next to you To add to that, the gym's air conditioning was broken all week (who knows how long before that?) which added to the discomfort. I'm a pretty easy-going traveler and have no problem when a couple of these happen from time to time but seeing them all occur is a clear sign of poor management by the ownership. My TLDR here is it's a good property, but shows extremely poor management and excessive cost cutting, and ultimately becomes a subpar product until that's addressed.

Highly recommend getting a room in that section. Additionally, they gave us champagne, chocolates, and a personalized card for our anniversary! The lobby had such amazing views. We also loved the pool. Lots of pool seats available unlike other hotels. I guess it helps that it's at the end of the strip so you don't really have as much crowds coming through. We grabbed some snorkel gear to explore Black Rock and it was full of marine life. What a beautiful spot (I grew up on an island myself and will tell you it's a legit snorkeling experience). One downside is that since the Moana building was at the end of the property so we had to take several elevator rides through the hotel just to get to the lobby. That was fine since it encouraged us to get our steps in but could be frustrating. All in all a wonderful experience!

It sits on a quieter stretch of Ka'anapali Beach, so it never feels as crowded as some of the neighboring resorts. It is also right next to Black Rock, which means you can skip paying for a snorkeling tour and simply walk over yourself. We snorkeled there three times and saw sea turtles every single time. If you are lucky enough to get upgraded to an ocean view room, the sunsets are absolutely stunning and worth looking forward to every evening. The downsides are hard to ignore. The rooms are definitely dated, although they were very clean. The restaurants on site are expensive and the food was average at best. Breakfast costs nearly $50 per person, and the buffet was nothing special. For what the resort charges, I expected a much better dining experience. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. One tip: reserve your poolside cabana online before you arrive because they often sell out. If you can book this property using points (good redemption of course), I think it is worth it. If you are paying cash, I believe there are better values elsewhere in Maui. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, but it did not live up to its price tag.
