Every beach resort has a place like the Over Easy Cafe: a casual breakfast and lunch restaurant with an informal feel. The Over Easy Cafe is unremarkable in this sense, though I do recommend the crab and asparagus omelette. That dish was different than the dishes you'd find elsewhere, and it was filled with crab meat, though not heavy on the lump crab meat. The omlette itself was a bit on the small side, but it was plenty filling. Their home fries are a bit bland and they lack the crispness one might expect. It is as if they were grilled early and then sat for a time in the corner of the griddle to be served up in bulk and quickly. If you have a dog, the Over Easy Cafe is very welcoming, providing water dishes at each table. In all, it is a serviceable place for breakfast. read more

Lost a star from our previous visit. Waited an hour to be seated for breakfast. Hostess told us it would be this long when we got the beeper, so it wasn't unexpected. Our table was wet and dirty when we sat down, and I brought it to the attention of our waitress, she gave us some napkins to wipe it up. My crab and asparagus omelet was awesome. Came with a side of hollandaise sauce, which I never eat, but thoroughly enjoyed. The potatoes were marginal. My wife's pancakes and eggs were about on par with IHOP. My son had the french toast and commented that he liked the ones we make at home better. Service needs to improve! read more

This cafe offers friendly prompt service, tasty food and a large menu selection. They have vegetarian, gluten free options and something for everyone. The interior decoration is cute as well. The only thing I didn't like was the TVs located thru out the restaurant as I prefer conversation. There is also outdoor seating. There is one bathroom for ladies and one for men. Came in here for breakfast today after searching for some traditional breakfast places and we were not let down! It was about a fifteen minute wait, which was no problem because of the cute shops located in the same little mall. We were seated promptly after the buzzer went off. The waiter was extremely friendly and helpful as was the rest of the staff. The restaurant was well decorated and the food came out quick. We all ordered pancake dishes which were amazing - super fluffy and tasty. The fresh squeezed orange juice was perfect. I just came from an extended labor day weekend stay at Sanibel Island and must say that the Over Easy Cafe and the Lighthouse Cafe were hands down my favorite breakfast spots on the island. The service at the Over Easy Cafe was friendly and fast; the food was very tasty. Tried this wonderful breakfast place today and were very pleased with the ambiance, service and food. We got there around eight am and no one was there so we had the whole patio to ourselves. Soon three other tables were filled so it's definitely a popular place. We ordered coffee and were also informed of their straws upon request policy. Waitress was accommodating and gave us plenty of time to peruse the menu. We asked her opinion on several items and she cheerfully guided us in the right direction. Our food was brought to the table extremely fast but the quality and taste was not rushed. The salmon eggs Benedict was delicious and my friend ordered the shrimp omelet and everything was great. The atmosphere is great and definitely sit on the patio. Will highly recommend to others when they visit Sanibel. read more

We found this little place on our last visit and the food was WOW. We decided to go back again this year and were still pleasantly surprised that it wasn't just a one time WOW. They do get busy and there is a small wait but there are some lovely shops that you can stroll through to kill some time. Definitely worth the small wait. read more

I'm sorry to only dish out two stars but of the 4 people I had breakfast with all had the same conclusion. "Below average" the breakfast items we were bummed about... hash browns where made ahead and were cold (we could see a huge pile of them on the grill), the grits had no flavor and were watery - instant I'm sure - the service was slow. I was disappointed by the healthy option, the no yolk omelet did not come with the sides included like the other menu items, and the waitress did not bring our attention that it was an additional charge, there is an easy to miss asterisk next to the menu item. One of the best breakfasts on the island! Hubby loves the extra crispy thick cut bacon. Mediterranean omelet was delicious. Three trolls approved! They actually cleaned their plates and asked for more! Sand dollar pancakes and chocolate chip sand dollars were gobbled in minutes! Everyone liked the "orange" potatoes though we did add some salt. We went to Over Easy Cafe in Sanibel for breakfast/lunch. The wait was long but the food and service made up for it. I got a scramble with eggs and cheese on English muffins. The eggs were done perfectly and the potato chunks were tasty. My husband had the blue burger as a patty melt. He was very pleased that they would accommodate the change and the kitchen did a great job. They have all the condiments on the table which is a good idea.
