I've never had a yelp account before but after going to this place I knew I had to make one. Me and my boy drove by and he saw the balloons outside asked me what kind of place it was I told him they cut hair for children. he immediately wanted to going there. We made an appointment went the next day, by the looks of it everything seems fine videogames dollhouse everything a kid loves. The girl that cut his hair Jennifer was done within like five minutes. He had patches everywhere everything was uneven, he had bald spots. Kept thinking that she was going to make it better I didn't think she would be done as soon as she was done. Sure enough she was done. I felt so embarrassed for my boy I just wanted to run out of there, my husband came in from outside because he was on his phone and he immediately said let's go back to his old place. Which we did thank God our old guy fixed him up really quick he looks so handsome now. So the first time my son and came we were very welcome by silvia who was the lady who gave my son a really nice haircut reason I didn't mind it was pricey, she was very nice and sweet in the end she offered him balloons and candies my son left really happy, I came back and this lady called Pam made me feel uncomfortable since the beginning I asked for Silvia but she said she was not there in a very weird way like if Silvia was not good. She offered to give my son a haircut and when she started she put the cape on my son very lose letting all the hair in my sons clothes and body causing a very uncomfortable moment for him and still after we left he was complaining all the time I had to buy a new T-shirt because we were far from home, anyway, the haircut came out horrible!!!!! Uneven, the line in the side he usually get was terrible!!!!!!! They did a wonderful job with my 16-month-old son's first haircut. There were plenty of toys to play with and help distract him. At the end of the cut they took a picture and printed us a copy, gave him some balloons, gave us a lock of his hair and a little certificate commemorating his first haircut. It was very sweet. I got my haircut all the time at this place growing up so when it was time for my daughters first haircut I knew taking her here would be perfect. This was about a year ago and I loved the experience. I made the mistake on recently taking her to a new place to get her haircut and they completely messed it up! I highly recommend this place. I have a very sensitive one year old that doesn't like anyone getting close to him. They were fully prepared with a seat that was a toy car and toys to distract him. Because it was his first haircut they saved his little hair in a pouch gave us a little card to put down the date, took a picture and printed it on the spot. Favorite part is they used powder and a very big gentle brush and powdered him down at the end to get rid of the hair. Baby left super happy snd feeling pampered he totally enjoyed the powder at the end, and not one episode of crying!! I was elated . Staff is super friendly and Elena did a wonderful job. I been a customer here six years and love the friendly customer service at over the rainbow hair salon. The friendly staff are very patient with my young son who six years old. My son loves the free arcade games that the shop has to offer and it's classic theme of over Rainbow. I high recommend that you bring your kids here for their hair cuts. I originally started bringing my 3 children to this wonderful children's hair salon over 15 years ago and after horrible experiences at other salons for children became a loyal consumer. Sylvia is not only a great owner, but a great hair cutter and colorer. Both my husband and I began using her as well and my husband still goes every six weeks though our children are grown now. Very fun place for kids. I took my 2 year old and she had fun. The hair stylist was polite and kept a smile on her face throughout the time. By the end of the event, my kid was not willing to leave. They have a bunch of toys and rides for the kids. They even have a dressing table, which my daughter loved. read more

Over the Rainbow is the best hair salon in Northridge. I started coming here when my children were 3 and 5. They were so great I started having my hair done too and so does my husband. I have been coming to Over the rainbow for almost 8 years now and I absolutely love it. Everyone is so nice and the ambiance is very kid friendly and welcoming. Although all the ladies are great, I go to Silvia. I've never been disappointed with every hair color and cut! So easy to book an appointment here, love the convenience. Staff are great. Meyrav one of the hair stylists there is my favorite. Kids love the games, movies and donuts served. They do adult hair as well as kids. Can be noisy sometimes with young babies crying with their first haircut etc....only draw back if you cant tolerate the screaming. read more

good hair cuts for both my daughters. this is my second time. a lady said this visit, school is starting i will check your child for lice! im shocked, i said ugghh ok?!! so sure enough she did have some questions and she wasn't even sure! how she went about it bothered me. and asking other employees to look. really embarrising if you ask me! she cut pulled whatever pulled a hair out when i was with my other daughter helping. the lady kept making a big deal! i got it ok! so, i went to her DOCTOR and they and the NURSE checked. they were not sure. so we treated to just be safe! no issues! I just personally wish they went about that issue differently! so, will i go back? No, cause my kids came for a haircut, not to be examined like an animal with fleas!! also FYI parents, If they had an issue they should of contaminated everything that was used on my daughter! and they did not, poor child sat down next!!! wow read more

I took my son here for his first haircut. He enjoyed playing with the toys while we waited. Vanessa cut his hair. He sat in a little red sports car the whole time and barely even knew he was getting his hair cut because he was having so much fun playing in the car. Vanessa did a great job on his hair. She saved a few locks of hair for us as we requested. She asked us how we wanted his hair cut, and she didn't seem bothered at all when my son was wiggling around as he played in the car. She also got an orange balloon for him to hold, and for the next 24 hours he was obsessed with that balloon (until it lost all of it's air from being so well loved). His haircut looks amazing. I was a little sad about cutting off the baby curls, but I think it looks so much better now. Vanessa took his picture in the little car and gave us a picture, a 1st haircut diploma and the locks of hair. It was better than I could hope a 1st haircut would go. I love that this salon specializes in kids haircuts but also does adult haircuts. I saw one lady getting her haircut while her little girl was sitting on her lap. That might be me someday. Their prices are reasonable too, and there's a free parking lot. We were there on a Saturday, and it was crowded but not bad. We called for an appointment and had no problem getting one. The haircut itself only took about 15 minutes. It seems like a very efficient and happy place for kids (and adults) to get their hair cut. They even have animal crackers and lollipops for the kids. read more
