I came across derricks yelp & immediately gave him a call & he assured me he could look at my car and help me figure out what was going on. i got to derricks shop where he works on cars and he greeted me & checked out my car. He showed me what was going on & explained to me that i needed to get a new radiator asap or i would over heat my engine & having an ecotec engine was going to cost me A LOT of money if i allowed to over heat. long story short... DERRICK IS BEYOND AWESOME. i got him my car & he promised to have my car done the next day by 2 or no later then 3pm & he did. HE STUCK BY HIS WORD TO HAVE MY CAR DONE BY WHEN I NEEDED IT! once i arrived he showed me my old alternator, where the leak was happening, what caused it, and how he fixed it. he also changed out my clamps because they were better then the ones i had. NO he didn't charge me an arm & leg like shops do especially when they know you're in the military. he charged me under $200 & i honestly felt like i ripped him off knowing how much he had to do to get to my radiator for my car model. needless to say i tipped him for all his hard work because LORD KNOWS HE DESERVED IT! IF HE QUOTES YOU A PRICE HE'LL HONOR THAT PRICE & i was impressed. he knows what he is doing & is a very outgoing & easy person to talk to. AGAIN... We searched Google for an auto repair shop in Lampasas and randomly picked L&H Automotive. I was so glad we chose that shop. We called and told them that we were waiting for our tow to show up and we'd be there as soon as we could. We arrived at 5:05 p.m. on a Friday and I'm sure everyone was ready to go home and start the weekend. I can't tell you how impressed I was that three or four guys stayed and worked on our car for over two and a half hours. The repair, while temporary, allowed us to make our vacation rental and get back home to Benbrook TX. This was not the easy repair you would want to see after closing hours. Had they not done this we would have had to stay in Lampasas all weekend, lose our cabin rental which was non-refundable and a good part of Monday. The courtesy and respect they showed my wife and I is something that we will never forget. While no one likes it when their car breaks down, and especially knowing what is involved to getting the A/C compressor and related parts of the system back up and running. We considered ourselves very blessed to have come across this amazing group of guys. It's no wonder Jay was voted best mechanic of Lampasas county for 2021. I fired up the truck, took my son to school and then took the truck back to them. 4 days later, because they already got paid they weren't in a hurry, I picked it up again.
