I was 3 months away from my wedding at the four seasons beverly hills, and had almost given up on hope of finding a video production company that could create the perfect wedding video for a reasonable price. A friend of a friend told me about Overflow, and I honestly just booked it because their price was the most fair out of the 17 other companies I talked to. I actually didn't know what to expect, but on the wedding day, they were very well organized. They worked extremely well with my professional Photographers, and they just naturally integrated so well with all that was going on. This review is long overdue. To provide some context, my wife and I were recommended to Overflow Productions. We had everything planned and paid for in 2020. Yep. Right before the pandemic and shutdown. We were stressed and worried about the changing dates. The uncertainty and fear of what was going to happen. It was all overwhelming to say the least. We also heard so many horror stories of other people losing their money because companies weren't flexible with dates and were using contracts to as a legal shield to keep their payment without actually providing service. No refunds. With Overflow, I didn't feel any of that stress. Herman and I would check in a few times a year. Yes, you read that correctly. Years. We would pickup where we left off. We had to reschedule so many times because of the restrictions, my wife getting pregnant, our pandemic baby being born, and recently celebrated their 1st birthday. Come June 2022, we finally do the ceremony/reception and we're really happy with the level of care and service provided. Herman was very down to earth and personable. I felt like I hired a friend to shoot our wedding. His other videographer Urian was very attentive and easy to talk to. They didn't clash with our photographers and were like ninjas with cameras running around in the background. They were able to capture and create some magical moments in our day. Even at stressful points, they coordinated between wedding party, photo, the DJ, and the wedding coordinator. Our day was that much better having them around. We feel lucky to have them there! I don't usually write good reviews because I feel like 5 stars are given so easily. I mostly write bad reviews because I had such a terrible experience. My wife and I got married back in 2021 of August, but the video that Herman and the team produced for us still brings back memories to that very special day. During our wedding day we were greeted by the team at our respective Airbnb's and upon the first introduction, I knew we went with the right videographer. The team was professional, courteous and polite throughout the whole day which made them VERY EASY to work with. They weren't too demanding or too controlling when asking for certain shots and this made the whole experience enjoyable and fun. I looked at a couple of videographers when I started my search, and what drew me to Herman was the style of his videos. We had the privilege to have Overflow Productions shoot a video for my family. Not only did Herman deliver an exceptional video, but he brought professional quality editing, creativity, and value. The fact that the video captured so many little details such as aerial drone shots and multiple viewing angles, shows his level of professionalism and seriousness to his craft. Overflow productions has a competitive rate and is very responsive in terms of correspondence, but I did not have a great experience with them on the wedding day or after, unfortunately. They have great reviews and were great in terms of communications before the wedding, which is why I booked them for my original April 2020 wedding, but perhaps they are out of practice now, post-COVID. There were a few hiccups during the wedding day that we chose to overlook since overall, we had a fine experience, but the correspondence after the wedding has left me with a bad reflection of Herman and the company overall. The videography contract allows for me as the client to request one round of edits without additional charges. I chose to request a few small changes, but overall I was very happy with the edited highlight video. However when the revised version was delivered/published on Vimeo, the video had a blatant audio/visual editing error. The first kiss moment and culmination of the ceremony now looks very awkward because the audio is off by about 5 seconds from the video, so as the bride and groom we look like we're awkward staring at each other in silence between when the officiant announces us as married and when we actually kiss and there is actual applause. When I pointed this out to Herman, he gave me a very cookie-cutter answer and requested that I pay $250 to get this mistake and shift of 5-seconds in the audio fixed..... Mistakes like this should be fixed by the company, free of charge. This particular edit is the fixing of an actual issue and had nothing to do with the edit I requested. Additionally, it reflects bad on their company when potential future clients watch videos with blatantly obvious bad editing. But I guess they don't care. Reflecting back on the wedding, the other things that had bothered me on the day-of that I was not expecting definitely adds to this overall being a below-average experience. Herman was nice and upbeat in terms of behavior, but he delayed our morning timeline by asking me and my wedding party to repeat certain movements over and over again unnaturally. Additionally, he had the link to our wedding timeline for months ahead of time, and failed to notice that I had him scheduled to arrive an hour after the photographers. I did not care for capturing much of my getting-ready moments on video. He could have noticed this and pointed it out to me ahead of time, but instead he arrived flustered and expressing concern that he was not able to capture things that he wanted to (that I did not, as the bride, care to capture...). The other day-of issue that I had with Herman occurred right before the ceremony began. My wedding was in November in LA and we had a heat wave that weekend, so the wedding planners and venue had instructions to put umbrellas out for the guests so that they had shade to sit under and be more comfortable during the ceremony. About 30 minutes before the ceremony was scheduled to begin, I was waiting and resting in another room (tucked away, as the bride is leading up to the ceremony), and I was hearing from my wedding planners that Herman was expressively fighting back against putting up the umbrellas for the sake of his video. I think that as the bride and groom, we get the final say here.. if we prefer our family and friends' comfort over a 2 second wide shot clip of our wedding video, I think that a videographer's job is to just roll with it instead of add stress and pushback right before the wedding begins. I wasn't downstairs and talking to Herman directly, but the net result was that we had 1-2 umbrellas set out and most of our guests sat under the hot direct sun for the duration of the ceremony (instead of the planned 6-8 umbrellas providing shade for our 120 guests). I am still confounded over this pushback.. find yourself a videographer that listens to the bride and groom on their wedding day, and who delivers quality and customer service! read more
