If you know anything about skating, one board can be completely different than another, so this is useless. Considering all the nuance (shape, length, flex, weight) that go into a longboard, it is insanity to think that a customer would drop $160+ (their lowest price) on something that they can't test on the sidewalk. In 30+ years of skating and surfing, I have never been to a shop that wouldn't let you test out such a big purchase. Leave this shop to the tourists and posers and spend your money somewhere that actually cares about the culture.

The girls working the shop are more interested in gossiping/talking amongst themselves and staring at their phones than being welcoming, helpful, or kind... esp the ones working on 8/11. We likely would have spent much more, but we got the feeling they would have rather us just left than buying anything at all. We witnessed them treating many others this way -- including a surfer who came in looking for an accessory to his board, who was sent away with nothing but a weird attitude. Not the whole time I casually shopped the entire store. However, they have a very nice selection of wind chimes here & a better selection of beach towels & Ray Bans than the other Beach Mart. The only problem is the music playing in the background has a very bad static sound like the radio is not coming in clear or something. Extremely annoying. So much so I had to leave. There are so many things I love about the store!!! The staff as well, educated and well-versed, and how she was work for overpronation, if you're a runner or a walker, what kind of running you do, they measure your feet I mean, who does that anymore who measures your feet?? And they measure at two different ways. They bring out five or six pairs to start of what they think will be good for the way your foot works. They give you socks to try on the shoes. And when it comes to buying some new socks, if you can't find socks here to wear with your tennis shoes, they simply don't make them. They have loads of cute socks.. and not the cheap stuff that falls apart after two or three Plus, they have a huge selection of Oofos, for both men and women. Orthopedic doctor suggest those to wear as flip-flops because of the way they help your foot and knee. Emily was my shoe fitter and amazing knowledge person extraordinaire and gave me lots of choices and was fun to work with. There's really no other place in the St Pete area to buy shoes and it doesn't matter. If you're not a runner you will get the best fit here for any kind of tennis shoes you've ever put on your feet. You can find most surfer essentials here- clothes, swim shirts, short and suits, body suits, hats, sunglasses, flip flops, and a whole upstairs dedicated to gorgeous surf boards and some skateboards. By the way- a surf boards? NOT cheap. But even if you aren't looking to purchase one it's still quite fun to shop around. The brand of apparel stuff is also very surfer-esque- Hurley, Roxy, Reef, Sun Bum and more. The workers were young but really friendly and gave us some local food & coffee recommendations. The one girl even said her mom worked at the shop when she was the same age and that's pretty cool. There are some pictures & trophies on the stairs from surfing competitions I assumed employees of the shop participated in or sponsored. I also loved the giant flip flops sitting out front- if you visit or have visited you know exactly what I'm talking about. They have a basketball hoop on the side of the ship and a ball out front you can shoot with. A car parked right in front of the hoop which was lame so we didn't get the chance to try it out this time. Definitely a good stop for all the beach things and will be back!
