My son wanted to try this diner so we made our way over. We didn't get to have breakfast and I know that I won't be going back. My son went inside to get a table while I sought parking. I have a physical disability and there weren't any disabled spaced within view. Rather than tell him that there was a line to be seated, they told him that he couldn't be seated until the entire party had arrived despite him pointing to me through a window. When I got inside, we were still ignored, save the side eye when I tried to get their attention, while regulars bypassed is to the line that we weren't aware of. When I inquired, again, about the wait, the staff actively ignoring us finally mentioned the line. I cannot stand in place for more than a few minutes so we left. Physical pin and disrespect isn't worth $3 eggs. I will seek out minority owned businesses rather than be subjected to this sort of treatment again. read more

The Owl Diner has it all: great food, warm and attentive service, and a good value. I have been going to the Owl Diner for breakfast years. The food is so good here. From the pancakes to the omlettes, it is prepared with perfection. The pancakes are huge. The home fries are the best I've ever had. I love that you can get baked beans with your breakfast. This place was actually surprisingly good! From the outside it looks a bit sketchy, but the inside is acceptably clean and the people are really nice. I went for breakfast with my brother and got the pumpkin pancakes. He got the Lawrence St. omelette. Both very tasty. Everything is also pretty inexpensive, which is another plus. This was a great find! I hope to go back if I'm in the area again. The service was quick and friendly (but not overly or falsely or cutesy). Most especially the omelette was not one of those huge fluffy things. Mine had kielbasa, onion and cheese to which I added spinach (fresh); my friend's had corned beef hash. Both were excellent. The young man at the grill was quick and focused. When things slowed down a bit, he was pleasant to visit with. The potatoes were very tasty and the coffee was good. They do take a credit card (not Amex) for food, but not for the tip. The wallpaper border in the women's room is perfect for a diner, and don't miss the Route 66 clock ... All in all, a very worthwhile eating adventure. read more

Haven't been in a few years. Definetly gone down hill. The cook was swearing up a storm because there was an issue with a customer . Dropping f bombs left and right. No need of it especially with kids in there. Food was ok not like it used to be. Service was good. But to see and hear the cooking screaming swearing and slamming things like a 2 yr old, don't think it's worth the ride to go back. Sad they used to be great. read more

The Owl Diner is the only place where I will get omlettes anymore. I rush here whenever I'm home from school in Boston and have never been disappointed. The staff is always quick and friendly and the School St omelette is always perfection. Only downside is parking can sometimes be a little hard to come by. This review is severely biased, for starters. The Owl is right down the street from my house and I eat there all the time with my family and anyone who comes to visit. I wouldn't necessarily say it's the best food of the lowell diners, but the atmosphere is awesome and I just enjoy hanging out in there. The cheeseburger omelet is great, make sure they put pickles on it! The service is always ultra-fast with coffee free- flowing- like an eternal, rejuvenating spring- directly into my face! It's one of those places I'm going to miss when I leave and I'm collecting their root beer bottles now as memorabilia. It has made my life here better. read more

I have to admit that I like owls and when I saw the Owl Diner- well, I had to stop. I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has a huge variety of breakfast items, along with some home cooked goodies like meatloaf. I loved the omelette selection, and they were named after local streets. Our waitress was nice and attentive, and the place had a very homey atmosphere. You could tell the staff knew many of the locals. We also got a free side of beans which was different, but appreciated. I would definitely visit again as they had several egg dishes that I would love to try. read more

Okay- I admit I am particular about home fries. I like them crispy on one or two sides, but not hard or burnt or cut too thin so that you don't even really taste the potato. Without telling the waitress anything about how I like them, the Owl's homefries were PERFECT! The corned beef Benedict was delicious as well. Get old-school diner. The owl diner serves delicous breakfast! My sisters and I came in and they seated us. However, they have slow service since it gets so busy. Maybe they should hire more females (the only workers). For the price, they give HUGE portions! I could't finish my meal. My older sis order the Pawtucket st omelete (ham onion cheese), I had a I forgot what it's called but it was slices of potatoes with cheese and bacon and my little sis had a waffle special (strawberries & whipped cream). The Owl Diner is a Lowell classic. I've eaten here since I was a kid, and one day my kids will eat here. It's one of those places. The food is always on point and the portions are quite large. Been back recently after a bit of an absence. The diner feels like its been cleaned up on the interior recently. Food is fresh, fast and good (was there for lunch). The chicken soup was excellent ans was the BLT....bacon was fresh and crisp. Was there during the week, no wait and full of regulars. Their ham steaks are the best I have had anywhere, and they even serve up a solid rendition of my old fave, cream chipped beef on toast! Stopped by here for an early Saturday brunch - fast and friendly service. I was feeling particularly gluttonous and got an omelette platter as well as the waffle special with strawberries and whipped cream. Omelette was served with toast and home fries - good sized portion. The waffles were light and fluffy, the toppings not overly sweet. Felt full without feeling sick and heavy. I went to the Owl Diner with my husband and a friend of ours on a Sunday afternoon, their breakfast is great, big portions, extremely fast service and again the food is great! I had Wheat toast, scrambled eggs with ham and home fries which were outstanding I also had one blueberry pancake which was cooked to perfection and was wonderful! Prices were great as well. We live less than a mile from this place and it was the first time we ever went since we have been living in Lowell almost 8 years, Now it will be a local spot to get breakfast on the weekends! I'm new to the area and got New Year's day brunch here. All I can say is WOW! It's very cozy inside, but somehow holds a ton of people - everyone was very friendly and the service was super fast! I got the Irish Benny.. it was incredible and very filling. Home fries were so flavorful I didn't need ketchup.. and I usually put condiments on everything! Highly recommend! read more
