I stopped at the Pawtucketville Diner for breakfast on a busy Thursday morning. This cozy diner is open for breakfast and lunch and has a neighborhood feel, packed with locals sitting at the lunch counter and all 4 tables were filled. I grabbed a seat at the lunch counter which has an open grill/kitchen area with TV and decorated with boxes of Wheaties and Flutie Flakes. There were two staff working the whole place, who never skipped a beat since it was busy. The guy was cooking all of the food on the grill and stove and the waitress serving the entire place and buttering off the pancakes & toast, refilling coffee cups, and cashing folks out. The breakfast menu offers eggs, omelets, pancakes, French toast, meats, home fries, hash, and other sides. The lunch menu offers sandwiches, clubs, burgers, melts, comfort entrees (haddock, steak tips, chicken, hamburg steak), sides, and more. I noticed a lot of the ingredients came from Market Basket, where I do a lot of my shopping. The prices are reasonable, items priced under $10. I was offered coffee ($1.50) as soon as I sat down. I had the Mammoth Rd ($6.95) which was 2 eggs (I got scrambled), 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 3 bacon strips, served with home fries and toast. I watched the food on the grill cook and my breakfast took about 10 minutes to be ready. The eggs were nice and fluffy, the home fries were hand cut grilled potatoes, the crispy bacon strips were done perfectly. The 2 pancakes were firm and the sausage links were decent. I was given a refill on coffee too. Overall, I'd give this place 3.7 stars for the pretty good and very filling breakfast I had (very Mammoth Indeed), the good service, and the homey feel of this local diner. They don't care about new customers, they only care about regulars. A man with his wife and child cut us and sat down first and staff didn't even say anything to him. The food is okay, I'm from Worcester and so I'm a huge breakfast junkie. This place basically served me pink sausage links... They need to hire more wait staff and make use of the tables that they have that are used to hold utensils and napkins, which is extremely a waste. read more

The food was excellent and cooked to order & was HOT off the griddle, which was awesome. It's a small diner and when it's crowded, there can be a bit of a wait. I had the waffle, breakfast potatoes (which were fresh cut and sautéed - yum) and 1 egg, which was huge! So much great food. The servers are super sweet and offered some watermelon to my friend's small children while we waited, which was awesome as it staved off their hunger and kept them occupied until our meal came. The food did take quite a bit of time to come out, particularly because it is cooked to order. So if you're in a rush, just be mindful of this. The food is outstanding. The waitress, Lisa, is a hard-working gal and is super friendly . Don cooked an amazing breakfast. He is hilarious. Definitely worth a visit. We ordered the steak omelet and a breakfast sandwich. The portions are very generous, the omelet had a whole lot of streak tips and cheese!! The sandwich had a lot of bacon and cheese also. It was delicious. Our bill was less then $20 with coffee and two meals. I am coming back! Only issue I had was that no one greeted us at all. This diner is your typical breakfast spot in Lowell. I thought that the service was great and I like the proximity if the location to where I live. However, I didn't think the food or coffee was very good at all. My coffee was very average and my meal-the mammoth road- was very greasy and I didn't finish it as a result. The only thing that was good was the French toast. The bacon, eggs, sausage, and home fries were awfully greasy. I just think there are better places you can go in Lowell to get breakfast. read more

I have been here many times but never gave them a Yelp review. One word "Good". the wait staff are nice with personality. do yourself a favor and sit at the counter and watch the man work the grill, it is a show all by itself. there are lots of orders and he does it one or two at a time, working the grill, griddle, waffle maker and micro wave. fun to watch him and them to get your meal omelets are big, my bacon and eggs came with 3 eggs and 5 strips of favorable bacon. For $6.95 you can get the "Mammoth Rd" with 3 strips of bacon, 2 link sausages, 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 slices of toast, and home fries. The grill everything is cooked on is pretty small, so bacon flavoring (fat) tends to contribute to the flavor of the eggs and home fries nearby. The pancakes are cooked slowly on a separate grill, creating a dry, fluffy, and thick cake. You may have to ask for real butter, since margarine seems to be the standard here. Bonus- one of the few places with a waffle iron nearby. Service is decent- not overly friendly or rude. Overall quality is decent- not trying to be anything more than a neighborhood grill. A great place to meet neighbors or read the morning paper. read more

Since my last review, they took over the space that used to be a tanning salon next door and made the restaurant twice as big. It was a nice little family atmosphere before, and now it's the same atmosphere only bigger. There's this neat little alcove with a couple tables in it, and they do small catered events now too. If you go here on a weekend morning, you should still expect to wait for a seat, but the food is always worth the wait. They always have tasty new specials, and everything is fresh and hot and delicious. I said in my last review that I didn't give them 5 stars because it takes a while to get the food. I found that they were moving much quicker the last time we went in, and they have hired a couple new waitresses since expanding. They still look to be all family, I think they're all sisters. They're all incredibly friendly. And one of them has a daughter of about 12 who was helping out wiping down tables, bringing people water, etc, and seemed to really love helping out. She didn't stop to sit down even once in the hour we were there. No one told her what to do, she just kept herself busy helping out wherever she could. It was so nice to see. For a neighborhood diner atmosphere, it just doesn't get better than the P'Ville. read more

We've driven by this place many times, but almost always in the evening when it is closed. Today we had to be in Lowell early and stopped in for breakfast. A small place with friendly and efficient service, and a lot of locals. Many people seemed to know each other. There's a fairly small counter, and tables. We sat at the counter; I like to watch the short-order cook. Coffee came quickly; regular diner coffee - not fantastic, but strong enough. We both ordered eggs over easy with linguiça. Note that they actually give you one more egg than you order, so two eggs over easy turns into three. The eggs and home fries were fine. Maybe a few more home fries would have been better, but certainly a reasonable amount for the price. The linguiça was served sliced, not too greasy. I couldn't identify the brand, but one of the less-spicy one, not Gaspar's. The bread for toast was from the super market (Market Basket - some came in while we were eating). They were busy, and the grill is quite small, so we had to wait quite a while for our food. Bill for two was about $12. Okay food at an okay price. A nice neighborhood place. Don't order something from the grill if you are in a hurry. read more

We just moved, departing from our favorite neighborhood diner and looking for a new one. Polite, friendly service, but not falsely so - they seem genuinely pleased that you've come by for something to eat. They had both hot coffee and iced (yay for me), which was good diner-fare coffee. The food was very reasonably priced, including the specials. We got a special breakfast wrap that including some delicious pulled pork, as well as a waffle. I was delighted to find the waffle was poured and cooked there (not so in most places), as well as fresh strawberries sliced and put on top. Everything was really, really well done. I will absolutely come back again - the only negative (as has been mentioned by others) is the wait is a bit on the longer side. Come with plenty of time, and you will not be disappointed! read more

Went in and grabbed a menu. Decided what I wanted to order. The place was not busy and I place my order with the waitress and ask her if I could do a takeout. She looked half asleep. She then told me it depends on what you want to order. I told her I only wanted two things she slowly looked at the cooks grill and said it's going to be about a 45 minute wait for takeout. I looked at the list there was only two slips up. I took a look out back from the barstool table and saw that there was disgusting dishes underneath the station. First and last time there. He works very hard to put on a very great product. And Lisa the waitress is a firecracker with a little bit of attitude that I love. My GF and I ordered breakfast to go this morning and it was busy last minute upon picking up we ordered a third breakfast which I had mentioned was for a sick family member the chef overheard me being indecisive about what to get my father for breakfast not only did he accommodate my last minute order he put some extra things in a the box extra strips of bacon and sausage loaded the home made ham hash and home made beans were perfect. This is by far the best diner in Lowell. The food is fantastic and the staff are great. If you get a chance, try the homemade Meat pie special or the pork cutlets. I have recently moved to Lowell and I found this place while driving by one night. I have eaten here at least once a week for breakfast over the past 5 weeks and will be going tomorrow with my fiance. The atmosphere is friendly and warm, the food is very good and served hot, they do not let your food get cold waiting for sides, you are served when its up. The staff here is very friendly. I have eaten at the tables and counter, the people who come in are friendly and I have had no problem striking up friendly conversation with the wait staff and other customers. I went here this morning and it was terrible. All of our food was so greasy and just boring. My 5 year old nephew wouldn't even eat his pancake. Kept complaining it was gross. My mother got a bone in her dish of kielbasa. How could that even happen. My sister got kielbasa in her vegetable omelet. She isn't a vegetarian, but still. The good, the bad, and the hungry. Well, first of all I will start with a compliment. The prices are fair, and the portions are huge. The food is not the problem with this establishment. However, this is where the compliments stop. The wait staff seems to care only about regular customers. We have been to this place three times, and each time the service has been slower than the last. We are not impatient people and understand that sometimes service is slow. However, this place pushes it to the limit. For example, twice we have had to go to the front register to ask for the check. I honestly believe that if we didn't do this we may still be waiting there. One of the wait staff members was so preoccupied with talking to regulars about weekend plans. This is a friendly exercise, but maybe keep it short when customers are waiting to order/pay. No exaggeration, one of the staff members talked to a regular for 10 minutes while we were patiently waiting to order. This place is understaffed and the atmosphere is not friendly to new customers. If you are hungry and don't mind waiting an inordinate amount of time, this place serves great value meals. First time for breakfast and will be back! Went yesterday in a party of 18 family members after a one year anniversary mass for my mothers passing. I had called earlier in the week to ask if that would be a problem to accommodate us and they not only could they gave us our own private area! We arrived to fruit, coffee,juice and muffins to enjoy before we ordered our breakfast. Our waitress was so sweet and nice and I'm ashamed to say I can't remember her name to thank her on yelp!
